《Sunrise ~ An Eremika Story》Chapter 7

Weeks had past, and ever since the conversation with Jean, Mikasa found herself planning out her life more in detail. She would talk to Sasha about her thoughts often, but Sasha planned on joining the Garrison, so it was difficult to explain some things to her.
Eren and Armin's decision on joining the Scouts was final, and Eren didn't think very fondly of the Military Police. But even if she wanted to talk to them, Eren was training heavily with Annie, and Armin was busy with strength training as well. That left Jean.
Jean lived in Wall Rose all of his life, and came from a wealthier family. And honestly the only thing she found interesting about Jean was his wealth, even though she hated herself for thinking like that. But Jean's stories were fascinating to Mikasa, how he was able to afford an omelet for breakfast everyday, and how he never had to work. And although Mikasa had not exactly grown up poor, she often skipped meals, and was constantly working.
When Jean found out Mikasa had never tasted an omelet, he promised her that he would make her them when they became Military Police. She thought the idea of an omelet was tasty, but she liked the idea of watching her parents enjoy one more. She added the idea to her mental list, when we reach the interior, I'll spoil my parents with omelets.
Jean enjoyed every second he spent with Mikasa, and felt pleased when she listened closely to his childhood stories. He felt like their relationship was strengthening, and she was becoming familiar with him. Every time he spoke to her about the interior, he imagined a life with her.
Them, sipping red wine on a balcony, admiring the view of the city. She would wear a floral dress he bought for her, and she would always be smiling. He would spoil her with gifts, and she would embrace him with hugs and kisses each time. They would never have to worry about titans or poverty, and they would live out their days as a happy couple.

It was a visual he imagined often, usually after speaking with her.
He had a plan. And he was going to execute this plan tonight.
...
Mikasa woke up before dawn, as she usually did. It had become a routine now, she woke up, looked over to Sasha, and would follow her out.
She followed Sasha outside, and up the wooden stumps. She sat next to her, and watched the bright sun peak behind the wall.
"God, it never gets old." Sasha whispered, gazing at the light. Every time Mikasa watched the sun rise, she was brought to the same thought. How beautiful would the sunrise be, outside of the wall? She would usually shake the daydream off, and assured herself it was silly. But today, she decided to handle things differently.
"Sasha?"
"Yeah?"
Mikasa trusted Sasha, and would even consider her her best friend. If she could tell anyone her silly dreams, it would have to be Sasha.
"Do you ever wonder... What the sunrise would look like beyond the wall?" Mikasa asked.
Sasha rested her finger on her bottom lip and thought to herself. "I guess I haven't, but now that you mention it, it would be spectacular huh?" she rejoiced.
Mikasa smiled and nodded, "It's a dumb thought, because it's impossible. But I find joy in the little dream." Mikasa explained.
Sasha shook her head, "It's not dumb Mikasa! And that reminds me... I wanted to tell you something." she began. Mikasa looked over, and waited for Sasha to continue.
"I've been thinking of stuff like that too. You know, like what it would be like over the wall? So I've been thinking that maybe... Maybe I want to join the scouts." Sasha reported.

Mikasa's eyes widened as her jaw dropped. "But Sasha... You're willing to throw your life away?" she exclaimed.
Sasha chuckled, "I don't think I'd be throwing my life away. I just think by venturing outside of the wall... I'd feel free. And I'd be able to see things I never thought I would have the chance to see." she explained.
When Mikasa heard it put that way, it did sound wonderful. But she pulled herself back to reality, why risk everything when you have the option to play it safe. Mikasa stayed silent, and continued to ponder her thoughts as the sun rose into full circle.

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)
8 182The Last Topaz
The story of two interlacing characters, Vivian and Lynn, studying at a prestigious library that overlooks an abandoned city of secrets. One, a Natural Mystic and gifted everything. The other, half a corpse struggling for vengeance.
8 178Unbound Reality.
Instead of coloring the pavement red with his blood and squished intestines Ben fell through what looked like stained glass. Instead of the sickening thud or a splat that would usually be heard after a body hit the ground from multiple stories high there was the noise of glass shattering. Instead of dying, Ben fell into a path of eternal life where he will inspire the stories of legend... It is a story about a man who wanted to move on from living as he had done everything he wanted to ccomplish, but instead of meeting his end he became God of his own world, his own sandbox. See him build a pantheon out of nothing and experience many tales that bards would sing across the world for eons to come. Extra tags : Omnipotent character, God, immortals. The first few chapters are rough, you can skip to a later chapter and you wouldn't miss much.
