___________________________Eren was awoken to a hard smack against across his forehead with some hard object. He yelped, and sat up quickly, rubbing his head.
"What the hell?" he whined, looking up to Mikasa.
"You weren't waking up" She shrugged, a few seconds of silence ensued, before Mikasa continues, "And that's for what you did in the food hall.. now get ready, you have 15 minutes."
Eren groaned, and stood up, walking over to his dresser to get some better looking clothes. While searching, he speaks up
"Aren't you going to go get dressed? You're just wearing sleep wear aren't you?"
"I'm just waiting for you to step into another room, I have my clothes here"
Eren went into the other room, and changed into his clothes, before knocking on his bedroom door.
"Never thought i'd be knocking on my door.."
A muffled, "Just a second!" came from the other side of the door, and then a, "Okay, now you can come in"
He opened the door, and stepped into the room. He looked at Mikasa, and smiled.
"you look great"
Mikasa looked at the ground slight tinge on her cheeks.
"Thanks, you don't look to bad yourself"
He walks over to her, and flips up her hair, "Decided to tie it up?" He asks, "It suits you."
She nodded, "let's go" She says, grabbing his hand, and tugging him out the door.
———
Mikasa and Eren walked over to where Armin told them to go. Who, of course was already ready.
Armin looked at them
both,
"Damn, you're here early. I was expecting Eren to take a lot longer"
Eren was just about to tell Armin off, when Mikasa jabbed him with her elbow.
"Yeah, I made him wake up"
"How does someone make Eren wake up? That's damn near impossible" Armin laughed
"I just shoo-"
"She slammed a hard cover book across my face" Eren muttered, rubbing his cheek
Armin looked at Mikasa wide-eyed
"He'll get over it" she shrugged, to which Armin began laughing again.

Eren glared at her, and Mikasa just gave an innocent smile.
"You're a jackass.."
"Yeah, but you still love me"
Eren just looked forward, "Point taken.."
"Alright you're going to make me sick, let's go!" Armin said, walking away.
They both followed him
"So.. where are we going?" Eren asked Armin
"Uh.. how about.. there's a big gathering, we could go there, see what it's about"
"How big?" Eren asked him, cocking an eyebrow
"It's pretty big, it's a big festival, or something"
Eren looked at Mikasa, who gave him an uneasy look.
"No.." Eren looked at Armin. "No big crowds"
"Why?" Armin asked, turning to him.
It was unlike Armin to forget important things, did Mikasa never tell him?
Well, actually, it took a lot of talking to get Mikasa to admit it to Eren, she was ashamed of it, she told him.
With another uneasy, and ashamed look from Mikasa, Eren spoke up.
"I don't like crowds, they make me feel nervous"
Armin shot him a look, but then nodded. "Alright"
Mikasa squeezed Erens hand, and Eren broke the grip, and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, bringing her closer.
"So.. where do we go?"
Eren thought for a minute, then smiled, "How about we go to the beach? We haven't been anywhere like that since.. well since before the walls fell"
Armin nodded, and Eren looked to Mikasa, who shrugged.
"I don't see why not"
He smiled, then wrapped his arm around Armins neck, bringing him closer to them.
"This is going to be great!" Eren beamed.
Armin and Mikasa gave each other a strange look. Eren wasn't the same as before he left. He was happy, unusually happy.
Eren then grabbed Mikasa's hand again, and began sprinting to where the beach is, Armin following closely.
Eren ran on the sand, immediately kicking off his shoes, and throwing off his shirt.
He ran right into the water, not caring of his shorts got wet.
Armin and Mikasa stood and stared at him.

"Come on" He insisted, "Before I drag you both in"
Armin began walking towards the water, slowly wading in, while Mikasa stood still.
"Mikasa," Eren clicked his tongue, "Last chance"
"I don't want to ruin my clothes" She said.
Eren quickly rushed out of the water, and towards her. Mikasa, knowing what he was going to do started moving away from him.
"Eren don't you dare.." She sputtered out.
Eren lunged at her, While she was quick to get out of the way, Eren grabbed her ankle as he fell to the sand.
From there, he got up, picking Mikasa up, and running towards the water, with Mikasa squirming.
"Eren no!" She screamed, before being dunked under the water.
Eren and Armin were laughing, while Mikasa stood up, and smacked Eren sharply.
Eren stopped laughing, and his face dropped, as his cheek began to show a red handprint.
Mikasa looked at her own stinging hand, then back at Eren, who was still staring at her.
"Eren I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit you that hard."
He just looked away, and began turning to walk over to Armin, who was staring at Eren.
"Eren please, I didn't mean it! I really am sorry!" She yelled, her voice cracking slightly.
Eren then turned around, sweeping his arm in a wide stroke. Mikasa shielded her face, from what she thought was going to be a slap. Instead, she was met with a massive splash of water.
She moved her hands down, and looked at Eren, who had a mischievous grin on his face.
Armin began laughing again,
"Holy shit you should've seen your face Mikasa" He blurted out, "When Eren turned around, it looked like you just saw him get shot!"
She stared at them both, and then locked eyes with Eren.
"You're both assholes.." She muttered
Eren walked over to her, and opened his arms.
"Hug it out?" He asked her, stepping in closer.
She rolled her eyes, and stepped into the hug.
"I really thought you were mad there" Mikasa said, while returning the hug.
"Yeah.." He sighed, "I guess I did go overboard a bit. But at least a hug came out of it" He laughed.
Mikasa smiled, and nodded.
"Yeah.. at least a hug came out of it.."
A splash of cold water hit the both of them, with the voice of their friend.
"You guys can do this later tonight, I'm not going to be the third wheel."
Eren let go of Mikasa, and turned around to look at Armin.
"You know what? You're right." He said walking over to Armin, "Come here"
Armin took a few steps back, "I'm fine with standing right here.."
"Come on.." Eren insisted, walking closer.
Armin was going to take a step back, and he was hit with a splash.
"I knew that was coming.." He muttered, wiping his eyes.
Eren looked back at Mikasa, who was looking across the lake, smiling. He turned back to Armin.
"Have you noticed Mikasa has been smiling lately, like a lot?" He asked Armin, who nodded.
"Well duh.. She's with the guy she's been in love with for the passed how many years."
Eren nods, "She has a beautiful smile, I'm glad she can finally be happy."
"And you too, you haven't acted like this for years."
Eren looks at him, "What do you mean?"
"You're all happy, and having fun. You aren't all angry anymore.
Eren just nods, "I guess it's having an affect on the both of us.. I guess I've always had this sort of feeling. I've only just realized it a few months ago.."
Armin nods, "I'm happy you guys are together now. It just, seems right"
"What seems right?" Mikasa asks, walking up to them.
"Me and you being together." Eren responds, grabbing her hand
Mikasas face flushed slightly, and she smiled.
"Let's go up on the sand, just to talk."
All three walked up, and sat down, Eren in the middle, with Mikasa huddled up next to him.
A few seconds of silence ensued, before they started talking, about life before the attack.

A tale about the resilience of humanity's will to live. A tale, not of the soldiers, but of the people they embody, not of machines, but of workers who built them.
