《Rain | Harry Styles》5.3

A.

I woke up to the soft pattering of the rain against the roof; Harry's flat being at the top of the building and allowing the sound of the water hitting the surface to be heard. I glanced at the window, and determined it couldn't be past five or six, the sun barely skimming the sky. My eyes drifted back to the sleeping boy who held me in his arms, his tanned skin on the top half of his face hidden by his curls sprawled over it, as he blew peaceful breaths between his ever-so-slightly parted lips, his arms wound instinctively around my waist.

A sharp pain suddenly shot through my lower abdomen and I silently winced - so that was why I'd woken up. I groaned internally, slipping out of Harry's arms without disturbing him, and standing up to head to the bathroom. I flicked on the bathroom light, shuffling sleepily towards the mirror, and glancing at my reflection - my eyes were so much brighter compared to weeks ago, my skin possessing the glow it once had - I was happy, and you could see it.

I cleaned myself up within a few minutes, and padded back to bed, where Harry's arms remained open in the way I'd left them, as I slipped back into the pair.

"Hey," he mumbled sleepily, not bothering to open his eyes, "you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," I nodded although he didn't see, snuggling back into his chest.

"Are you on, beaut?" he asked me just as sleepily before, and I rolled my eyes a little that he'd been able to tell I was on my period so easily.

"Lucky guess?"

"You always wake up around this time when you're on your period," a knowing smile pulled at his lips, though his eyes remained shut as he wound his arms tighter around me, pressing a chaste kiss to my forehead, "Do you want me to get you anything? 'Corner shop opens at six."

"Mm," I hummed in thought, leaning further into the pillow and bringing my hand to his jawline, "you know what I'd kill for?"

"Hershey's?" he opened his eyes, cocking an eyebrow at me as I responded with a nod.

"Hershey's."

"Mm, alright," he hummed, pressing his lips to mine for a brief moment, before standing up from the bed. He pushed his arms back in a slow stretch, reaching for a hoodie to cover his exposed skin, and pulling it on along with his sweatpants, "I told you I'm the greatest," he added, grabbing his keys from the nightstand and leaning over to give me another kiss.

"You are indeed," I mumbled against his lips, shouting him an 'I love you' as he pulled the bedroom door shut, sending me a quick wink as he did so.

I leant back into the mattress, cuddling further into Harry's t-shirt I was wearing, the scent of his cologne causing my senses to tingle. My eyes fluttered shut for a moment, but the prominent ache I felt in my gut made it pretty clear I wouldn't be sleeping. I stood up from the bed, slipping out of the bedroom and into the hallway in search of some aspirin to try and fight these cramps.

Since Harry and Liam weren't here so often anymore, there were little-to-no supplies anywhere, and so I couldn't find a single pill. I sighed, grabbing my phone.

Can you please grab me some aspirin? xx

Do you think I'm an idiot? x

I couldn't help but grin at the bluntness of his response, as I headed into the kitchen, deciding to make myself a cup of tea. As I filled the kettle with water, I heard the footsteps and the irritated grunt signalling Liam was awake.

"What're you doing up so early?" he asked tiredly, stumbling into the kitchen and sitting down at a stool by the counter as I grabbed three mugs for some tea, setting them down.

"Couldn't sleep," I shrugged, flicking the switch on the kettle to turn it on, as Liam shot me a disapproving look, as he rolled the grey sleeves up of his hoodie.

"Absolute bullshit - I'm surprised, considering you two should both be worn out. You woke me up at least," he ran his hands tiredly over his face, "you moan fucking loud."

"I don't," I argued with a grin, deciding there was no reason to be embarrassed about it.

"You do," he groaned, "and he does as well - don't think I didn't hear you the other night. That curly guy never stops."

I laughed, "Sorry to be such a disturbance - I'll owe you one when we go back to Seattle so you and Niall can have sex with no complaints."

"Niall and I wouldn't have sex," Liam scoffed, and I raised my eyebrows.

"Bullshit, just the other day you two were-" I was cut off by the door to the flat swinging open, Harry stepping through with a few carrier bags in his hands. He kicked the door shut, placing the bags down.

"Morning, Payno," he ruffled Liam's hair as he walked past, causing Liam to roll his eyes, before Harry turned to me, "What're you doing up?"

"I couldn't get back to sleep," I said honestly, as he pressed his hands onto my waist so he could step behind and round me, pressing a quick kiss to my hair.

"Mm," he hummed, laying eyes on the kettle now fully boiled, "You're making tea? I would've done that for you, love."

"I would've done that for you, love," Liam mocked, still tired as he buried his face nonchalantly in his hands.

"Shut up, Liam," Harry took the kettle off the mount and poured water over the teabags and into each mug.

"I can do it, H," I argued gently, reaching for the mug only for him to snatch it back from me, tutting in my direction.

"No, go back to bed," he rolled his eyes at me, grabbing the milk from the fridge, "Liam, we need more milk."

"The fuck, dude? You were just at the shops," Liam groaned, as Harry poured some milk in both Liam and I's cups, leaving his black.

"Yeah, well I wasn't at the shops for milk, was I?" Harry asked rhetorically, shoving what was left of the milk back into the fridge, while I trudged towards Liam, winding my arms around him.

"Ignore him, Liam, he's a dick," I consoled him, sending Harry a wink as I hugged Liam on his stool.

"I know," Liam groaned, as Harry mixed two spoonfuls of sugar into Liam's mug, and one into mine, passing Liam's over the counter, "If only I was straight, Ana, I would wife you up so quick. Then we could laugh at his misery together."

"Because it's so humorous, isn't it, Liam?" Harry shot back playfully, picking up mine and his mugs, "Come on, Ana - back to bed."

"Yes, sir," I teased with another roll of my eyes, kissing Liam's cheek and withdrawing my arms from around him, "I love you, Lee-yum," I cooed, pinching his cheek as he tried not to smile as I padded back to Harry's room.

"Here," he handed me the mug of tea, and placed the plastic bags onto the bed, sitting down beside me and opening the first, and placing a box of tampons onto his nightstand, "Those dodgy things that go inside you," he commented as I laughed, and he reached back into the bag, "Aspirin, peach iced tea, Hershey's, and some Sour Patch - but those are for me."

"I love you," I groaned, setting down my mug of tea and bringing his lips to mine for a few seconds, before sitting up against the pillow, and leaning into his side, lifting my knees up a little so he could curl his palm around it, his touch comforting in itself.

"Mm, I know," he teased with a hum, his spare arm thrown over my shoulder and his hand resting on the side of my head in my hair.

I ripped open one of the bars of Hershey's, taking a bite as Harry reminded me to take the aspirin he'd got, as I sent him a nod.

It set in my mind that we would be leaving England today, and heading back to Seattle - we then would be graduating on Wednesday, and then that would be it. We would be done with high school, and moving on to college - and most importantly: we would be doing it together.

I'd never felt so content in my life as when I lay beside Harry - even here; anywhere - I felt as safe, content, and loved as I possibly could, in his arms.

Hours passed, and Harry was already blowing soft snores between his lips, deep in sleep. I sat up slowly, creeping out of bed and looking out the window - it was no longer raining, but the sky held a dull colour of grey, though it was near midday.

I glanced back at Harry curled up on the bed sound asleep, before reaching into my mostly packed case and fishing out a pair of leggings to pull them onto my legs alongside Harry's shirt, running a quick hand through my messy hair before heading towards the door.

It was a Sunday morning, and so it wasn't busy outside - all I wanted was a walk around the city before we went back home; I hadn't seen much of it, since I'd more or less been confined to Harry's room or Celia's house the whole time, and since Harry didn't like the city at all, I wouldn't push him to venture out further into it - but if I were alone, there was no reason to avoid the streets.

I wandered out of the apartment complex, scraping my hair up into a messy bun as I headed along the sidewalk with no real direction. It wasn't long before I came across a corner shop; one I figured Harry had gone to earlier. The further I walked, the further into town I found myself - but it was near enough empty, only an old man sitting on the bench with the paper in his hand, and a young couple sitting on two chairs outside of what appeared to be a coffee shop.

Since I didn't have long and we were due to stop by Celia's before we left for Seattle, I decided I'd grab a coffee for Harry and I (since Liam didn't drink coffee).

I stepped into the coffee shop which the couple was seated outside of, hit with a sudden warmth and the thick aroma of strong coffee. I still wore Harry's shirt with my leggings - too lazy to change it - and mixed with the welcoming atmosphere of the small shop, I suddenly felt very cosy.

"Hello, love," a man with a thick accent who looked about my age behind the counter smiled brightly at me, stepping up to the cash register, "What can I get you?"

"Um.." I pondered for a moment, "I'll have a vanilla latte and an espresso to go, please."

"Got it - can I take a name for your order, please?"

"Ana," I told him, and he nodded, most definitely spelling it wrong as he scrawled my name across the two cups.

"Cool," he nodded, spinning around to start making the drinks, before unexpectedly making conversation, "I know that accent isn't from around here - what are you doing here in 'Manny?"

"I'm visiting with my boyfriend from Seattle," I smiled politely, "he's from around here."

"Oh, he is?" he asked nosily, fiddling with some of the machines, "What's his name? Maybe I know him."

"Harry Styles," I chewed on my lip skeptically.

The man froze for a second, glancing at me for a second, "Yeah, I knew him."

I frowned, "Is there a problem?"

"No, no - not at all. I just remember him moving away.. we all gave him kind of a hard time while he was here."

He set the coffees down, and I handed him the money, grazing my teeth over my lip as my brows furrowed.

"You gave him a hard time?" I asked, taking the cups in my hands.

"Yeah, we did.. pushed him around a bit," he shrugged, and I raised my eyebrows, "Have a good day."

"I wish I could tell you the same," I muttered, but I knew he'd heard me as I walked out of the shop, colliding immediately with a chest.

"Oh, fuck," I groaned, watching both cups of coffee drop to the ground.

"I am so sorry, I'll buy you a new-" the man began, before our eyes met, and he silenced himself for a moment, "it's you."

"Do I know you?" I pretended to be unknowing.

"You're the girl my son is with.." he spoke slowly; cautiously, even.

I sighed, coming to terms with the fact there was no point in denying it - I stood face-to-face with Harry's father, and I was beginning to realise this was unlikely to end on my terms.
