"Do you like Taehyung?" Bong Soon whispered in your ear while the class is going on. You almost freaked out.

"Are you crazy?" You whisper yelled and she chortled.

"But I like him. He's kinda hot and sassy you know?" She mumbled and you just sat there blankly.

A few minutes later, the lecture got over and you put your head down to relax. The rest of the students left the class to get some fresh air.

"So, where will you give me a treat?" Taehyung suddenly came and sat beside you catching you off guard.

"My soul almost left my body." You said with both of your hands on your chest. He chuckled.

"I'm sorry." He smiled which made you smile too.

"It's okay and I'll see you at KumKum Chicken, this weekend." You flashed a smile and he nodded and left.

You were beyond happy because of the small interaction you had with your crush. Of course, crushes are so special! They have the superpower to control your emotions.

The day passed with you and your friends attending lectures. It sometimes gets boring for you to study but you just shrug those thoughts off.

Reaching your apartment, you looked for the keys inside your handbag. But you shivered when you heard a loud thud.

You turned around and saw some guys carrying stuff to the apartment in front of you. Maybe, someone's moving in. That apartment has been haunting you because it's been ages since anyone moved in there. You felt pretty excited to greet your new neighbors but without wasting any time, got inside your place.

Keeping the things in their place, you plopped on the couch. Your apartment wasn't huge or fancy but it seemed pretty cozy to you.

You closed your eyes to relax but a ting on your phone made you wake up.

'Y/n, did you find your mother? When will you guys pay me back?' You sighed heavily.

Your mother used to be an amazing businesswoman but 3 years back, she got divorced from your father as he had an extra-marital affair. Since then, she got engaged in drinking and drowned in depression. As a result, her business sank rapidly and the company went bankrupt. She had to abandon you and run but she sometimes calls you from random phone booths. She ran because of the debt she had and now the investors are searching for her.

You have to do part-time jobs to make money for your own needs. Also, you save a small amount of money to pay off your debt but it's not enough.

Sighing again, you stood up and went to the kitchen to have some fruit. After eating, you decided to study.

After studying for about 2 hours, you looked at the clock. It showed 6 pm. You changed and took your sling bag and locked your apartment.

You turned around and saw your new neighbor. His back was facing you. You waited for him to turn around curiously. But the moment he turned around, it was no less than a shock to you.

"M-Mr. Jeon?" You spilled.

"Are you my student?" He asked almost not recognizing you.

"Yes sir." You told.

"Then, I'm your new neighbor. You don't need me to introduce myself, right?" He said.

"Yes sir." You told like an obedient student you are.

"What's your name?" He asked.

"Y/n. Kang Y/n." You told and bowed.

"Are you headed somewhere?" He asked and you nodded.

"Gosh! I was excited to see my new neighbor but turns out he's my teacher. Oh god!" You talked to yourself and reached the restaurant you've been working at.

You returned exhausted after your part-time. You headed straight to the bathroom to shower. After showering, you felt pretty relaxed and so you headed to the kitchen to cook food.

You were busy making food for yourself when your phone rang making you stop cooking. You picked it up.

"Is this Kang Y/n?" An unfamiliar voice said.

"Yes. Who's this?" You asked.

"Ji Hyun has died in a car accident. Please come to the hospital." The other person told making you blankly sad at once.

"She is my mom. How did you contact me?" You asked while stopping your sobs.

"She was muttering your name in her last moments and when I checked her phone, your number was there. So I called you. Please come asap. It's Green Life Hospital, Hongdae." The lady told and you immediately hung up and wiped your tears.

Getting out in just a single woolen sweater, you got into a taxi. You reached there after 1.5 hours.

"Where's my mom? Kang Ji Hyun." You asked the lady at reception.

"Mortuary. I'm sorry kid." She said sadly looking at your helpless and pitiful state.

You ran around the corridor and finally spotted the mortuary at the end of the corridor. You barged in without any second thought.

And there you saw, ' Kang Ji Hyun' written in bold letters. You immediately pulled off the sheet which covered her body. A shrill moan left your mouth when you looked at her almost crushed body, covered with blood and mud.

"Mom!" You cried loudly.

The staff barged in when they heard your mourning. They dragged you out of the room and made you sit on a chair.

"Calm down kid." The lady from reception said handing you a glass of water. You couldn't help but cry.

You got to see your mother after 3 long years and that too, her dead body! Your heart ached. You felt pathetic. Life seemed unfair!

"Stay strong." She said soothing your back and covering you with a coat.

"They say no loss is as huge as a loss of your mother. I can't comfort you but I want you to stay strong. Your mother won't be happy if she sees you. Be strong, at least for her." She said patting your hair making you cry louder.

"Please don't cry." She said and you hugged her tightly while crying.

"Don't you have any family? Your father or siblings or relatives?" She asked and you shake your head in denial.

"Do you want her body to get cremated here only? At the hospital's graveyard?" She asked and you slightly nodded.
