"Miyoung, will you go to the dance with me?"

I blink a couple times, trying to process the situation.

Did the Jeon Jungkook just ask me to go to the dance with him?

Wasn't he supposed to be my rival? Frenemy?

What even were we?

I think back to the time where we went for ice cream together two weeks ago. He had asked me if I would say to yes to anyone who asked me.

That sneaky bastard. He had been planning to ask all along, hadn't he?

He had trapped me in a corner and there was no way out of it.

A nudge to my side was soon felt, snapping me out of my trance. I turn to Nayoung who was glaring at me and signalling something with her eyes.

I furrow my eyebrows at her and watch her groan. "Answer him, you fool! Don't leave the poor guy hanging there."

Widening my eyes, I quickly turn my head to look at Jungkook. His shoulders were slightly slumped, the roses and the sign in his hand were tightly clutched, as if he was afraid they were going to slip out of his grip.

His eyes seemed almost hopeful with a mix of defeat for some reason. He was pursing his lips, his cheeks still blaring red. He was still gazing at me.

He was embarrassed.

The six boys behind him were still holding up the sign, their faces vibrating that they were exhausted of holding up the sign and basically screaming with their eyes for me to make up my mind and answer him.

Everyone else that had come out of the school to sing all had their eyes on me, waiting for me to make up my mind.

"Just answer him already, damn it!" I hear an unfamiliar voice say from behind Jungkook.

It seemed like Jungkook's face couldn't get any redder.

I opened my mouth, my voice caught at the back of my throat as I tried to spit out an answer.

"Yes, I'll go to the dance with you." I say, standing up and gulping the nerves that were beginning to creep up within me.

With a snap of a finger, Jungkook's face lit up. He had replaced the purse of his lips with that infamous grin of his, his eyes turned to crescents as he beamed at me.

Cheers erupted from behind him, claps and hollers filling up my ears.

I was sure as I was a deep shade of red by now.

Nayoung pats my shoulder and sends a wink my way, heading over to Hoseok and pecking him on the lips.

I stood there awkwardly and continued to gaze at Jungkook, who seemed uncomfortable standing there. He still had the sign and flowers clutched into his hands.

Slowly, I walked up to him and took the flowers out of his hand. I beamed at him and held the flowers close to my chest. "These are beautiful, thank you."

He flushed red again and shyly looked down. "Y-You're welcome."

I giggled and lifted the sign up to read it again.

Flowers are the second most beautiful thing,

Can I take the first to the dance?

"How did you come up with this cheesy line?" I laughed. "I would've never expected you to say something as corny as this."

He brought his hand up to his nape and rubbed it. "I had help from Jimin."

I smiled and wrapped my arms around his chest, resting my head against his chest. I felt him tense up in my grip, but relaxed soon after, dropped the sign and wrapped his arms around me as well.

"This was super sweet and just so amazing," I breathe, closing my eyes and smiling. "Thank you so much."

I felt him tighten his grip around my waist. "I'm really glad you said yes. I don't know what I would've done if you said no."

Laughing, I lean back and look at his face. "Pretty sure I had you spooked for a good couple of seconds there."

"Yeah, you just sat there," Jungkook playfully rolls his eyes. "I was really just about to a dig a hole right then and there and peacefully rot."

I giggled and pulled away, picking up the poster from the floor. I look back at him and take out my phone. "Could we take a picture?"

He nods. I whistle to Yoongi and gesture him to take the picture. He winks over at us and gladly accepts the phone, motioning us to stand together.

Jungkook takes one end of the poster and stands closer to me. I take the other end and manage to hold the flowers in the same hand, wrapping my free hand around his waist and grinning towards the camera.

Yoongi takes a couple and nods at us. "You guys would make a really good couple."

I feel something flip in my stomach but decide against it and laugh it off. "Alright. Thanks for the pictures."

He nods and heads over back to the group of boys. Jungkook stands behind me, looking over my shoulder to look at the pictures.

"They turned out really good," I beam, smiling while swiping through the pictures. "Hope you don't mind if I post this."

Jungkook laughs. "Why would I mind? If anything, I'm honored to be able to be featured on the Park Miyoung's Instagram."

I roll my eyes and nudge him playfully. He tells me he's going to go talk to his friends and will be right back to take me to class. I dismiss him and post the picture on Instagram, tagging him and smiling while do so.

I was happy, genuinely happy that I had said yes.

For some reason, I wasn't bummed that it wasn't Taehyung who hadn't been the one to ask me to the dance like I had originally been wanting.

It felt refreshing and different to be asked by the guy I thought I hated all these years.

Looking in Jungkook's eyes, hugging him, and laughing with him made me feel something I hadn't felt before with him. It was a foreign feeling, but it was a feeling that I didn't want to go away. I liked it.

I wasn't sure where all these new feelings had sprung up, but there were some things I knew for sure.

Jungkook was definitely not my rival anymore.

I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I came face to face with Nayoung who had the biggest grin on her face.

She squealed and hugged me, holding me tightly as we jumped around, acting like middle schoolers who had just been noticed by their crush.

Nayoung pulls away from me and squeals again. "I can't believe you and Jungkook are going to the dance together! That was actually the cutest thing I've ever seen, oh my gosh. When you weren't responding I was actually about to answer for you, for real. Why did you hesitate?"

I blinked, processing all that Nayoung had blurted through my brain. "Calm down girl. I guess I hesitated because it was just so sudden. I didn't think Jungkook would ask me to the dace to be honest."

"Are you glad?"

"Am I glad about what?"

She rolls her eyes and wraps her arm around my shoulder. "Are you glad that Jungkook asked you?"

I bite my lip and nod. "Yeah, yeah I am. I think it'll be fun."

Nayoung squeals and squeezes her arm tightly around my neck, momentarily causing me to choke before she lets go and sends me a quick apology.

"I'm so happy for you," She beams, her smile falling when she realizes something. "But what about Taehyung? Now that I think about it, I didn't even see him here."

Taehyung.

He didn't even cross my mind.

I had been so busy thinking about how cute this whole ordeal was that I didn't even think where Taehyung was or how he would feel.

Guilt washed over me as I eye Nayoung. "I don't know. Maybe I'll be able to dance with him at least once at the dance, right?"

"Do you think he wanted to ask you to the dance?"

I blink. "What?"

"Well," Nayoung pauses. "He likes you, remember? He probably wanted to ask you to the dance but Jungkook beat him to it."

"You just brought my mood down like ten levels." I groan, the feeling of happiness immediately drained by a feeling of guilt.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have brought that up. I'm just going to go back to Hoseok, seeing now that your man is coming for you." Nayoung shoots me an apologetic look and speeds off towards Hoseok, who had been patiently waiting for her a couple feet away.

Jungkook walks up with his hands in his pockets and a smug expression on his face, all trails of shy Jungkook had disappeared.

"Lets get going back to class?" He offers. I nod and walk silently beside him.

The crowd that Jungkook had gotten had gone and there were only a couple of people left talking to each other. As we walked by them, they congratulated Jungkook and winked at me.

Some girls had sent glares my way, but I simply dismissed them and kept my eyes trained forward.

"Hey, you good?" Jungkook whispers when we sit down by the desk. "You've been silent this whole walk."

I look up at him and nod my head, faking a smile. "I'm good."

I didn't want to bring up Taehyung, not now. Jungkook seemed to be in a good mood, if I brought up the fact that I didn't see Taehyung anywhere when the whole point and focus is supposed to be on Jungkook, he would flip.

I shouldn't ruin his mood like that.

Instead, I'll talk to Taehyung.

Nayoung had a point. Taehyung had confessed to me, putting his heart and soul out on the line and I never returned his confession.

For some reason, there was something stopping me from doing so.

Why?

This was something I had been waiting for since three years ago. Now when the time shows itself, I seem to be backing down?

Were my feelings for Taehyung still there?

Of course they were, right? Why would they go away in the first place?

Stop thinking about this, Miyoung. Today, you're putting all of your attention to Jungkook.

And that's what I did.

I kept thinking back to his eyes, those light brown eyes that seemed to sparkle in the sunlight. That beautiful smile that brightened up his face.

Yeah.

Jungkook was definitely not a rival anymore.
