《in time ✱ j. jungkook》✱ chapter fourteen

Today we had to meet up at Jaeun's house to work on the project.

Why?

"I just don't feel like going to any of yours," she had said after we were gathering everything from Jungkook's house. "I mean, my house is pretty big and comfy. Let's just all meet here next time."

All because little Miss Perfect didn't feel like getting into her expensive car and driving to any of our houses.

Not that I don't mind though, I hear her house is a literal mansion, probably even bigger than Nayoung, Taehyung, and Jungkook's.

Wow. All four of them practically lived in castles while I lived in a small two-story home. I don't mind though, as long as I have a roof over my head.

I was the second one to arrive at Jaeun's house. Taehyung was already in the enormous living room looking up some research.

My heart leaped at the sight of him. He looked good today. He was dressed in sweats and a plain white tee.

When boys wear casual clothing... .

"Hey Taehyung!" I timidly greeted, setting my bag down next to me as I plopped beside him on the couch.

I looked past him and saw that he had already gotten a good bit of stuff on his notebook. "Woah there, leave some for the rest of them." I joked.

He lifted up his head and shot a tired smile at me. "Hey Miyoung, and yeah I probably should. I've been here for an hour already."

"Why?"

Taehyung shrugged, closing his notebook. "I don't know, I guess I figured if I got all of my parts done than I could help you and Jungkook with the poster. I don't want World War three to explode, I care about my World Studies grade."

I chuckled and dismissed him with a small flick of my wrist, "Don't worry about it Taehyung, Jungkook and I got this all under control. Plus, I don't want you burdening yourself with any more work."

Before Taehyung could respond, in came Jaeun with her arm wrapped around Jungkook's arm. I felt myself smirk watching Jungkook trying to wiggle her off of him.

"Look who's here!" She enthusiastically said, looking up at him with a smile.

He let out a cough and untangled himself off of her, heading over to the couch and sitting down next to me.

"Where's Nayoung?" He asked.

I shrugged, turning on my phone to see I had missed a text from Nayoung.

I open it and see that her family from out of town came to visit her and she had to stay and accompany them and that she would try to get some work done.

Sighing, I shove my phone in my bag and look at my peers. "She won't be able to make it today, her family from out of town came to visit today. She said she would work on some of her portion today while she could though."

Everyone groaned, muttering profanities under their breaths.

I mentally screamed. I was stuck with the bitch herself, God himself, and the devil himself.

How could this play out?

- - -

For the past two hours we had been working on the project.

I helped Taehyung do some more research. We talked and joked around the entire time, occasionally touching hands or brushing each other's legs.

I would get flustered every time but Taehyung would just shoot me an innocent smile.

And as for Jungkook? He got stuck looking up research with Jaeun on the other side of the couch. He had tried to join Taehyung and I, but we had strongly refused him.

To say he was annoyed at us would be an understatement.

Anytime one of us would laugh at the other's joke, Jungkook would lift his head up and hush us as if were some wannabe librarian.

It was pathetic, really.

We didn't bother to listen to him because we continued to laugh loudly, pushing his buttons even further.

Jaeun would lean up against him, pressing her boobs on him. It was like she wanted to let him know that they were indeed on there. It was weird.

He would politely push her off sometimes, telling her that he just wanted to get this over with. She would pout at him, whisper little nothings in his ear and giggling, only to have him ignore her completely and writing down notes.

Jaeun was certainly not pleased.

So, our lovely little princess decided to throw a fit.

Was she five?

She got mad, saying how she wanted to try with him again, how much she longed to have Jungkook back into her life. She missed going on dates with him and having him close to her.

The air was getting super weird.

It was quiet for a while before Jungkook responded. "I thought that with all these signs I threw at you, you would get the hint that I didn't want anything to do with you anymore."

And she exploded.

The whole thing was very messy. Literally.

She grabbed pillows and began throwing at him, cussing him out and trying to hurt his pride but saying how he wasn't even good.

Wasn't even good in what?

Whoops, nevermind.

Taehyung and I just sat there not moving an inch, watching the whole scene unfold.

We should have left, we really should have. We should have let Jungkook and Jaeun deal with this themselves.

But this was rather entertaining to watch.

But what Jaeun did next not only ticked Jungkook off extremely, she hit both Taehyung and I's nerves.

She grabbed the notebooks with all the notes on them and threw them, starting to rip off the paper from the book.

Is this girl a psycho?

"What the hell?" I shouted, quickly getting up from the couch and trying to yank the notebooks from her hand. "That's for our project, bitch! What the hell are you doing?"

I managed to grab both of the notebooks and threw it on to the couch successfully.

I started to pry myself off of her, but that's when she went berserk and grabbed me by my hair and forcefully pulled me to the floor.

I let out a yelp as my head smacked the ground hard.

"It's all because of you, you whore!" Jaeun screamed, getting on top of me while still having my hair in her hands.

I couldn't muster out any words due to how hard my head hit the ground.

"Jaeun, what are you doing? Let her go!" I heard Jungkook angrily yell.

"Don't hurt her!" Taehyung also said loudly.

They both rushed to us, prying Jaeun off of me.

I laid there on the ground motionless.

Everything was spinning, I couldn't think straight.

All I could think about was much my head hurt.

Ow.

"Are you crazy? Why did you do that for?" I heard Taehyung scold.

"She had Jungkook's full attention. She's always had his attention. Why can't it be me? Why can't I be the one he looks at?" She cried.

I heard Jungkook scoff. "That's not true, you're just delusional. You're a crazy fucking bitch who seriously needs help. You started to rip out papers from our notebook just because I wasn't paying any attention to you?" He paused. "I was trying to get the work done seeing how you weren't doing shit."

Before my eyes had completely closed, I see Taehyung's worried face looking down at me. I felt myself slowly being lifted before I was out cold.

Blinking slowly, I opened my eyes to notice I was in a different room. It was certainly not Jaeun's living room.

I mentally made a note never to step foot into that house ever again.

I sit up on the bed, looking at my surroundings.

"Hey, you're awake!"

I turn my head to see Taehyung coming over to my bed while Jungkook was sitting at a chair by the desk. He turned his head to see me.

"W-Where am I?" I stuttered out, bringing my hand up to my head.

The pain wasn't that bad, but it was still there.

"You're in my room." Jungkook muttered out. "After the whole thing went down at Jaeun's, we took you out of there and brought you to my house. It was the closest one."

I nodded slowly. "Thanks."

Everything was quiet for a while. I sat there, observing Jungkook's room.

This was definitely Jungkook's room. There was a poster of Big Bang behind his door, IU and Big Bang albums on his dresser, and pictures of him and Taehyung and some of their other friends hung around the room.

"I can't believe you actually had a thing with that psycho," I jokingly said to Jungkook. "She's crazy. She really just tore up our notes just because you weren't paying attention to her."

Taehyung snorted. "She even said you weren't good in bed."

Jungkook scowled, making me giggle in the slightest.

"She may be a psycho, but she's a hot psycho. I swear she wasn't this crazy when we were hanging out two years ago." He defended himself.

I rolled my eyes. Of course boys only focus on the outside rather than the personalities.

I never understood why boys are like that.

"Is your head okay though? You hit your head pretty hard." Taehyung asked, sitting on the side of the bed near me.

I nodded, forcing out a small smile. "Yeah I'm okay. It still hurts but not as bad as when she threw me down there."

"That's good. You didn't lose your memory or anything?"

I laughed slightly. "I think I didn't."

"Are our notes okay?" I asked Jungkook, who had been quietly sitting in the corner.

His head shot up and he nodded, smiling slightly as he held up the notes. "You managed to save them before she tore them apart. I think she was just ripping out the blank pages to scare us."

I let out a sigh of relief. "Thank God, but what are we going to do about her? We can't just kick her out of the group, can we?"

Taehyung smirked. "I already emailed the teacher and let him know that Jaeun wasn't participating in the project and that we would want her out. He replied and said that he was going to talk to her after school tomorrow and have her in another group since we were all complaining about her."

"You sly dog." I said, chuckling at his demeanor.

And so there the three of us sat, joking around with each other about how weird Jaeun really was.

Jungkook would tell us stories about when they were a thing and what she would do.

That would send us huddled up in laughter.

If I recall correctly, this was the only time I've ever been at ease when I was with the two of them. I wasn't worrying about what Jungkook had up his sleeve and I wasn't worrying about how I was acting around Taehyung.

It was nice, feeling as if we were all close friends who were bonding.

But of course that would never happen.

Because I was Park Miyoung.

Because Jungkook was Jeon Jungkook.

And because Taehyung was Kim Taehyung.

Jungkook and I were rivals for a reason.

I would always be awkward with Taehyung for a reason.

But for just this moment, this blissful moment, it felt like all the bad things I had with them were out the window. It really felt nice being able to sit comfortably with them and laugh with them.

I wanted to savor this moment while it lasted.

I've never laughed this much when I was with Jungkook, just because I had always thought of him as someone I've always wanted to beat.

And for some odd reason, I didn't want this moment to end between us.

With Taehyung I had shared some good laughs with, but never with Jungkook.

If I had laughed with Jungkook, it was probably a mocking kind of laugh.

As much as I wanted to keep laughing with him, there was something tugging at me, telling me that Jungkook was my rival.

Jungkook was my rival since childhood and that's how it's been.

And that's how it'll stay.
