I woke up with Mari's head laying on my shoulder as she slept soundly. No matter how many times muthafuckas tell her ass not to drink she still does it knowing she can't hold her liqour for shit.

I grabbed my phone from the edge of my nightstand, being careful not to wake Mari, and checked my notifications.

I sighed and rolled over a little putting my phone back on the table. I looked down and stared at Mari for a second. Anyone could tell you that she's fine as fuck and just naturally pretty.

I paid attention to all the details on her face her— her plump pink lips, her defined jawline, her slender eyes, and those long ass lashes that i'm pretty sure she did on herself. Theres no denying that she's talented too. She's definitely not like any other bitch I've fucked with before. Even though i'm technically not fucking with her, but still.

She moved her head around, indicating that she was waking up so I stopped staring at her and looked away.

"You can keep staring at me, I don't mind." She chuckled with her head still in the same position and her eyes still closed.

"I wasn't staring."

"Mhmm." She dragged sarcastically, making me roll my eyes. Even when she's hungover she still got a smart ass mouth.

"Whatever, come on you needa get up." I said trying to nudge her off my shoulder but she wouldn't budge.

"Nooo. My head hurttt."

"Keep tellin' yo ass not to drink so much, that's a personal problem shorty."

"Shushhh."

I know her ass didn't just shush me.

"Come on shorty, get yo ass up." I huffed, starting to get irritated. "I wanna lay on you. You're comfortable."

"You got 5 more minutes Mari, after that im picking you up and throwing you off this bed." I told her and she nodded and wrapped her arms around me again.

After 5 minutes I was damn near dragging her out of the bed cause she still didn't wanna get up.

"Samironn please stoppp." She whined, attempting to kick me.

"Naw, you gon' get up." I said, yanking her leg while I stood at the end of the bed.

"XAVIER CHILL OUT."

"Why did you have to say my middle name son? You so fed."

"I told you my head hurts and you don't wanna fuckin' listen!" She snapped as she turned over and laid on her stomach. My eyes went directly to her ass. She might be annoying as fuck, but at least she's fine.

"Stop staring at my ass Mir, I know it's fat." She mumbled turning her head to the other side and looking at me. I chuckled and ran my hands over my head.

"Nah forreal, get up. I'm not playin."

She rolled her eyes and finally slid to the end of the bed and stood up slowly like she had scoliosis.

"Can I have some pants to change into! This is uncomfortable." She complained. I rolled my eyes and gave her a pair of Polo boxers out of my closet. She walked into the bathroom to change and I went into the kitchen to get her some Advil and water.

"Mar-"

I turned around and she was standing in the kitchen wearing the navy blue Polo boxers and a tank top. Her hips were wide, waist was curved perfectly, legs looked smooth as fuck, and I'm pretty sure you could see her ass from the front.

Now what if I just bent her over this counte-

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." She laughed before taking the Advil off the counter and swallowing it with the cup of water I had in my hand.

I tore my eyes away from her lower half and cleared my throat, "Shut up." I told her and she rolled her eyes and continued drinking the water.

"How you feel?" I asked while she sat herself on the counter. "Like shit."

"That's what yo ass get."

"Whatever Samiron. No one is trynna hear all that complaining this early."

"Maybe listen to mufuckas when they tell you not to drink then." I replied and she shrugged, knowing damn well she was gonna drink again eventually.

She hopped off the counter and walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. Her little ass wondering around the house like she know where she's going and shit.

"Yo house nice." She nodded, looking around the large living room. In all honesty my house is too big for just me to be living in it. It's only two stories but it has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

"Preciate it."

"Um so why did you bring me here last night? Why didn't you just take me home?"

"Cause who finna drive 25 minutes to yo house? Sholl ain't me." I said, lifting my elbows off the island in the kitchen.

"Well, anyways, can you take me home now?"

"Nope." I replied, walking up the stairs towards my room.

"Whyyy." She dragged, following.

"Cause I said so, fuck."

"Come onnn Samirrr." She wined as I sat on my bed and got comfortable. She stood there at the end of my bed with her hands crossed and an irritated look on her face. She must not know who I am 'cause I'll really leave her ass standing there while I take a whole ass nap, fuck she thought this was?

"Come." I patted the empty area next to me. She sighed and got on the bed, sitting against the headboard.

"You're irritating." She mumbled. "Still wanna go home.."

"Just chill shorty." I laid down, putting my hands behind my head.

"Can I lay on you?" She asked looking down at me. I nodded and she put her head on my chest while I rubbed circles on her back soothingly. Soon enough we were both falling right back asleep.

"It's finally the end of the school year." Mari sang while she twerked on the sidewalk.

"Man hurry yo ass up." Bri'on laughed as he grabbed her by the arm and made her walk in front of him. The siblings were heading to the corner store to meet up with Eli and Duck like they usually did several times a week after school.

Mari would've preferred to head straight home but Bri'on being the overprotective older brother that he is didn't want her walking alone, especially in their neighborhood where sex offenders, gang bangers, and criminals lived on every corner.

"You talked to daddy this week?" Mari looked back at Bri'on.

"Mhm, you?" He asked and she shook her head in response.

"Mari, at least have a conversation with dude." Bri'on sighed irritably.

"It would be easier to have a conversation with him if he was just around B.." Mari replied, shaking her head.

Bri'on and his father we're definitely closer than Mari was to him. Bri'on understood why his dad was constantly out of the house. Their dad, Travis, was a well known dealer in Houston, and he made good money. But his relationship with his kids had to suffer because of it.

Mari didn't know the ins and outs of her dad's lifestyle like Bri'on did, which made communicating with her dad that much harder. To Bri'on, their dad was never around because he was too caught up in providing for their family. For Mari, their dad was never around because he was too busy doing shit he had no business doing instead of being with his kids.

"Just talk to him Mar." Bri'on said to Mari who just sighed, knowing she wasn't going to talk to her dad anytime soon.

"Waddup bitches!" Eli yelled as Bri'on and Mari approached him and Duck who were waiting at the doors of the corner store. Bri'on dapped the both of them up before heading inside the store, keeping a grip on Mari's wrist because he never knew who was around.

"Watchu finna get?" Eli asked Mari and she shrugged.

"Probably some Vitamin Water and hot fries." She said, opening the freezer.

"Ew, Vitamin water?" Eli jerked his head back.

"Man shut up." She laughed as she walked up to the counter and put her stuff down.

"Y'all hurry the hell up!" Duck yelled at Bri'on and Eli as he put his stuff on the counter as well. After paying, they got their stuff and walked out of the store, heading to Mari and Bri'on's house.

"Say Mari, where Aijah fine ass at?" Duck asked looking back at Mari who was too busy smiling at her phone to listen to him. Duck had a crush on Mari's best friend since Freshman year but Aijah was too busy getting her heart broken by her so called 'boyfriend' to give Duck the time of day.

"Who got yo ass smiling so damn hard Mar?" Bri'on furrowed his eyebrows before snatching the phone out her hand.

"Wai-"

"Messiah?!" Eli yelled, glancing at her phone.

"I knew they were back together. I always be seeing 'em walking around in the hallway together and shit. Ole ugly asses." Duck laughed hysterically with Eli while Bri'on shook his head at the text messages.

"Mmcht, you fuckers are so annoying. I hate coming here with y'all." She huffed, snatching her phone out of Bri'on's hands.

"Ooohh i'm finna tell him he got you out here smiling at yo phone and shit." Eli said, nudging Mari's shoulder. She looked at him with a mug, not in the mood for his jokes anymore.

"Y'all are so annoying." Mari rolled her eyes as she sped up to walk in front of them, tuning out their laughs.

"Say, you know we just kidding lil' sisterr." Bri'on dragged throwing his arm over Mari's shoulder.

Before Mari could say anything she heard car tires screech and 3 shots rang out causing Bri'on to drop to the floor.

"BRI'ON!" Mari yelled as she dropped to the ground and held her brother in her lap, letting the blood from his chest get all over her shirt. Duck and Eli had already drawn their guns and were shooting at the car but it got away before they could really do anything.

"No! Stay with me Bri, please.. " Mari pleaded as she tried to force Bri'on's eyes open, but they were slowly closing. His white shirt was now completely drenched in blood.

"I-i.. " Bri 'on attempted to get his words out, but his eyes were already forcing themselves shut.

Duck was already on the phone with the ambulance as tears ran down his face. Eli knelt by Bri 'on shaking his lifeless body.

"They-they took my brother!" Mari screamed and Eli pulled her towards him. He held her head on his chest while she sobbed. Duck sat on the ground with his head in between his knees, gripping Bri'on's hand.

All three of them sat there crying helplessly in front of Bri'on's lifeless body waiting for the ambulance to come, trying to avoid the reality of the situation.

"They took him." Mari mumbled to herself. She woke up breathing heavily and wiping the tears that had ran down her face.

"Whatchu talking about?" Mir rubbed his eyes and sat up.

"They1they.." Mari tried to get her words out but she couldn't. The image of her older brother's eyes rolling to the back of his head as he lost consciousness was stuck in her head.

Mir didn't know what to do or say. On Bri'on's birthday when she had a breakdown, he called for Duck and Eli and they helped her, understanding exactly how she felt since they were there too. But here she was and neither Duck nor Eli could help her.

Mir sighed and pulled Mari closer to him. "Calm down ma."

She buried her head in Mir's neck while he wrapped his arm around her. "You had a nightmare?" He asked after letting her calm down for a few seconds. She looked up at him, tears clouding her

vision, and nodded.

"About Bri'on..?" He asked and she nodded again, letting another tear roll down her cheek. Before Mir could say anything else Mari had crawled back onto his chest and wrapped her arm around him as she sniffed.

Mir wasn't good with comforting people but it came naturally with Mari since there were very few words involved. All he had to do was hold her, so that's what he did. He wrapped his arm around her and let her tears soak up his shirt.

The feeling Mari now felt was new to her. She constantly had nightmares about Bri on's death, the hospital, and shooting Dakari. And every time she had a nightmare she would wake up crying and drenched in sweat. There was often no one around to calm her down, so she would sit up in her bed and cry while her mind bombarded her with thoughts, forcing her to relive the traumatic events.

But this time was different. Laying in Samiron's arms made it easier for her to breathe and regardless of Samiron not being there the day she lost her brother, he was still able to comfort her in a way she couldn't understand. Her breathing was slower and her mind was relaxed as opposed to being all over the place like it normally was.

But she knew that this feeling wasn't permanent. Samiron wasn't always going to be there to hold her when she woke up hyperventilating and panicking. Part of that was because he wouldn't allow himself to. But for now, she took the opportunity to relax in this newfound feeling of calmness.
