《Falling For My Best Friends Brother》Chapter Twenty-seven

I was over the whole wake up and go to school routine. It wasn't even two full weeks into senior year, and I was beyond over the bullshit that came with it. I thought that senior year was going to be fun, filled with adventures, but I was wrong. However, I had one thing to look forward to; Bryson was coming home tonight. I walked down the long hallway of the school, heading for my locker. To my surprise, Emmy was waiting for me. She was the only one that could keep me sane.

"Good morning, beautiful," she said with a smile. Her outgoing personality was contagious, that's for sure. I couldn't help but smile when I was with her.

"You must have me mistaken for someone else," I joked. She chuckled, moving away from my locker so I could get it.

"Bryson comes home tonight," she stated. There was no emotion in her voice whats-so-ever. Had they had a falling out?

"Something wrong with that?" I questioned. Bryson and Emmy had always been close. He was the over protective older brother that would do anything to keep his sister happy, especially after their mother died.

"I haven't heard much from him since he left," she said. I hadn't either, to be completely honest.

"He's just trying to get settled in, that's all." She nodded, and I hoped she believed it. That's all he was doing, right? I closed my locker, walking with Emmy to first period.

With the day being half over, my excitement was building. I couldn't wait to see Bryson. I wanted to wrap my arms around his neck while he wrapped his around my waist, and o could breath in his scent. I never knew you could miss someone so much, and up until he asked me out, I wouldn't have ever thought I would be able to miss him. A smile formed on my face as I reminisced on everything we had been through. If it hadn't have been for that damn math class. I was part way focused on what the teacher was saying when my phone buzzed in my pocket. I carefully pulled it out, looking around to make sure no one was looking.

leaving campus shortly. Meet me at my house after school.

I smiled. This was it. He was on his way home, and in just a few short hours, I would be able to hold him. I slid my phone back in my pocket, listening in to what the teacher was saying. Something about the Great Depression in the twenties, but I had other things on my mind. Other things that were making it hard to take in anything the teacher was saying. I stated at the clock, watching as the hands slowly moved. This is going to take forever.

Emmy was waiting by my car when I walked out of the doors to the school. I saw the look on her face, no emotions. What is up with her? I made my way over, preparing myself for the witty comment she was about to make, but she said nothing when I walked up.

"What's up with you?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders, biting her lip. She only did that when she was nervous, or when she was thinking about a cute boy, but I don't think it's the latter.

"Ready to go see Bryson?" I nodded, feeling the butterflies in my stomach. He still had that effect on me.

"Yeah. He told me to meet him at your house." We got in my car and I quickly put the car in gear to drive to their house. The ride was silent; I didn't know what was up with Emmy, but she definitely wasn't herself. Me. C's car was in the driveway when I pulled in. I hadn't even put the car in park before Emmy was out. I shot her a glare, which she didn't see, and shut the car off. I noticed that Bryson's car wasn't there. Weird. I slowly made my way to the front door, that Emmy had so nicely left open for me.

"Dad?" Emmy called. No response. We walked into the kitchen to see her father sitting at the table. "What's wrong?" She asked, sitting down next to him.

"Bryson was suppose to be here hours ago." I shot Emmy a worried expression, and I could tell that she was just as worried.

"Have you tried calling him?" Her father looked up, and you could tell how stressed he was.

"Of course I have, Emmy." Emmy looked down at the table, not sure of what to say.

"Here, let me try calling to," I finally said. Mr. C shot me a grateful glance as a thanks for breaking that up before it broke into a screaming match. I dialed Bryson's number, hearing his ring back tone.

"Sorry, the number you are trying to reach is currently unavailable. Press one if you would like to leave a message." I hung up the phone.

"No answer," I said as I sat down at the table. Mr. C ran his hand across his face and up through his hair.

"He's never done this before," Emmy said. I looked at her, curious to hear more. "He was excited to come home. Why would he just not show up?"

"Well should call the police," Me. C said.

"They won't do anything until the person has been missing for more than twenty-four hours," I chimed in. They both shot me a glance. "Sorry, I've felt with the police enough." Emmy chuckled, knowing the situation I use to be in.

"What are we suppose to do?" Once again, Mr. C ran his fingers through his hair. I bit my lip, thinking of all the things we could do.

"Emmy and I could go to his school. It's only an hour away." Emmy nodded in agreement as she stood up, grabbing her purse off the table.

"We'll call you if we find anything out, dad." He looked up and smiled.

"Be safe."

Emmy and I spent the hour drive jamming out to loud music to try and get our minds off of what could have happened to Bryson. We didn't want to think worst case scenarios, but that's all that was running through my mind. What if he got mugged, kidnapped? Even worse, what if he got into an accident? I had kept my eyes focused on the road, trying to see if I could catch a glimpse of his car. To my relief, we hadn't seen his car crashed. I pulled into the school parking lot.

"Here we are," Emmy stated.

"Here we are," I said back. I got out of the car and looked around. "Do you see his car?" I asked Emmy. She looked around a bit before shrugging.

"Oh, wait! There it is!" What was he still doing here?

"This boy is going to get a piece of my mind when I find him," I said, making Emmy chuckle. I locked the car, and we slowly made our way to the administration offices.

"Can I help you?" A small blonde said from behind the window.

"We're looking for Bryson Carter's room, please," Emmy said, turning her charm on. She knew we would be lucky if we got it.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to give that information out." I sighed, thinking it was a hopeless cause. We were going to have to search the whole damn school.

"I'm his sister," Emmy replied.

"Do you have proof of that?" That lady asked. This woman was getting on my nerves. Emmy pulled out her ID and handed it over. "He's in room 312." Emmy gave her a small thank you before we headed to the dorm buildings.

"He better be here," Emmy said. I could tell she was irritated. When we arrived at room 312, I knocked on the door. I couldn't get any movement, but before I knew it, I could hear the deadbolt unlocking and the door opened.

"Yeah?" A tall guy said in a husky voice.

"Is Bryson in?" I asked. His eyes widened, and I wondered if he realized who I was. What other girl would be visiting him, right?

"Um, no. He's uh, out right now," the guy said.

"Well you better tell me where he is. I'm his sister," Emmy finally said.

"Ah, shit. He's uh- he's at a party. Frat house," the guy answered, finally. Emmy and I thanked him and we headed off to the first frat house we found. You could tell there was a party going on. There was blaring music, and people grinding all over each other. Just like they had many times at parties she had gone to. We walked into the house, and Emmy stopped the first person she found.

"Do you know Bryson Carter?" She asked.

"Of course!" The guy said, clearly drunk. "Who doesn't?"

"Well, do you know where he is?" Emmy was definitely irritated. She probably wanted to kill Bryson after this. He could have at least called.

"He was downstairs, in the basement," the guy said, slurring his words. Emmy nodded and pulled me through the crowd towards the basement. We could hear laughter coming from the basement as we made our way down the stairs. It was a whole different scene down here. Different music was playing, people weren't grinding on each other, but they were having sex. Awesome. Emmy nudged me, and I looked in the direction she pointed. There Bryson was, half naked on top of some other chick. It couldn't be him, could it? Emmy grabbed my hand, pulling me to her. I could tell by the look in her eyes that it was him. I walked over, giving Emmy one last glance before I stopped in front of these people.

"Bryson?" I asked, trying my hardest not to cry. He looked up, and when he realized who he was, his eyes grew big. I turned around, storming back to Emmy and dragging her up with stairs.

"Riley, wait!" I heard Bryson yell, but I didn't care. All I wanted was to get out of there. And that's exactly what I did.
