《Married By Chance》Chapter 46: Home.

Brie's outfit above.
"Ow, that's too tight, Nicole." I wince as I feel a pain in my ribs.
"Oh, sorry." She says, losing up the corset.
Camilla barges into the room. "Amelia! I told I needed you like fifteen minutes ago!"
Shit!
"I'm sorry, Cam. I'm sure Nicole will be done soon." I tell her.
"Not really." Nicole mutters.
"Well, it's my turn now. You've had her long enough." Camilla snaps.
I knew this was a bad idea. Nicole and Camilla both want me to model their finishing look on their final project and I said yes but it's been so exhausting. Since they're graduating this year and both study Fashion Design, they are expected to come up with a seven piece collection for the final project.
Emily and I have one more year so it's kind of sad to know Nicole, Jasmine, Camilla, Chloe and most of our other friends will be leaving us.
"Come on, can you please give me another thirty minutes?" Nicole asks Cam.
"No, I can't. Amelia, I will be waiting for you in the next class. You know you promised."
"So is this something that happens a lot? Your friends fighting over you?" Brie asks.
She's been following me around all day, vlogging because her viewers ask about me a lot and requested that she does a video of a day of my life.
"No." I roll my eyes, smiling.
****
"Hi." I greet Nathan as Brie and I step into the restaurant at the Summit.
"So this is my workplace aka your boyfriend and my husband's hotel. I work as an event planner here." I tell her and her camera.
Brie grins and rushes over to hug Nathan. He hugs her back and then they kiss.
"Hi, Amelia. It's good to see you." Nathan smiles at me.
"Thanks. It's good to see you too."
"We have a launch event next weekend. The clients are coming here for the consultation in about thirty minutes. Julianna will fill you in." He tells me.
Julian is the hotel's actual event planner who I had to fill in for a couple months ago. Since she's been back, we've been working side by side but she usually takes the lead since she's way more experienced than I am.
I like to work on the creative side of things while she does most of the planning and the organizing.
I nod. "Yes, sir."
"How was your day?" He looks at Brie lovingly.
"It was good. We had a nice time even though Amelia's life is a little crazy." She replies with a smile and I chuckle then start walking away to find Julianna.
"I missed you." I hear Nathan tell Brie from behind and my heart squeezes.
He loves her so much. I want what they have.
"Hey, you're late." Julianna says as I enter her office.
"I'm sorry. Nathan said you would fill me in."
"There's no time now. The clients are here. We have to get to the conference room."
My eyes widen. "Oh okay."
We rush there and just as we are about to sit and wait, Mr Jean Brillon, the French hotel manager comes in with clients.
My heart immediately squeezes as I see Adam and an unfamiliar man.
"Mr Black." Julianna greets and Adam nods back in greeting. "Ms Wilde."
He steps close to me and I look at him blankly. He puts his hand on my waist and bends to kiss my cheek. "Hi." He says in my ear.

I'm short of breath and my throat is dry so I don't say anything to him.
"You look lovely." He says.
I clear my throat and let out a hoarse, "Thanks."
"Mrs Black, it's nice to meet you. I'm Blaine Hank, Director of Events, Black Industries." The other man introduces himself with a handshake.
He's older than Adam. Probably in his mid or early thirties. He's not as tall as Adam but he's big, good looking with nice golden hair.
"Nice to meet you too." I smile at him politely.
We all take a seat and Mr Hank starts speaking since apparently Adam is the client and no one thought to let me know.
"As we've discussed earlier on the phone, this event is for the launch of our latest aircraft." He says.
I raise my eyebrows. An aircraft? That was not what I was expecting when Juliana this was a launch event. I thought a perfume line maybe or something.
"This is an highly anticipated event. A lot of VIPs are going to be there. We want there focus to be on the product, remind them that they're not just there to have a good time but to do business also."
Juliana's assistant comes into the room with tea and starts serving.
"I understand. So how about the creative directing of the event? The food?" Julianna asks.
"We trust you, Juliana. This hotel is a part of Black Industries so you must know that we rarely we hold events but when we do, we expect it to be grand and unforgettable."
Julianna says something and they start discussing again while my attention is on my phone. Our group chat is back and everyone is active except Ian and Robert.
Ian left us hanging when he dropped his marriage bomb two days ago. It turned out that he might be serious but we still don't know the details.
💘Who is she? Is she sane??? Only a crazy person would marry you, Ian! I have a feeling that you're pranking us again.
I mentally laugh when I read that and start typing.
Our mummy-to-be still hasn't told anyone she's pregnant. I think she's in denial. Nicole and I decided to give her a couple of days to grasp the situation and if she doesn't, we will have to confront her.
Or maybe he's getting married to get out of one of the hundred crimes he's committed.
💜Lol😂
I hear someone clear their throat loudly.
I look up and see Julianna giving me a serious look while Adam is just staring at me.
I bite my lower lip. "Sorry, where you saying something?"
"Yes, what do you think we should do for the design?"
"We could do like a bird inspired. Like doves or-"
"That's too literal." She says.
"Uhn, okay."
I can feel Adam's eyes on me. Is he disappointed? I have to think of something so he wouldn't regret giving me this job. I try to think and an idea suddenly comes to me.
"How about we make the theme vintage?"
"Go on." Julianna says.
"We could make the decor and everything very old school. Kind of rock n' roll. We could use old film projectors to display the plane and everything. This state has a lot of history, we could also incorporate that."
"That doesn't sound bad." She says.

After I went back to Herz, I did some research for the event and an assignment from school.
I hear the doorbell then stand up to answer the door. "Dad?"

"Can I come in?" My father asks, standing tall in his tailored business suit.
"Sure." I open the door wider then hug him and we air kiss.
"Is everything okay?" I ask. I'm literally sweating. My dad doesn't just show up.
"I heard you left your home." He says with worry in his eyes.
"Yeah, I um-"
"I can't believe you're putting your marriage in jeopardy for a foolish old relationship, Amelia."
"What?" I ask in disbelief.
"Every time I think you've grown and are responsible, you do something to disappoint me. How can I ever trust you with my company?"
Is this really all he cares about?
I ignore the hurtful feeling in my chest."I don't know. Maybe you shouldn't." I tell him with a straight face.
"I gave you a choice and you made it. You chose to marry Adam so I expect you to be a good wife to him. Pack your stuff and go back to your home."
"You know, I thought the reason you came here is because you actually care. The reason I left home had nothing to do with Liam's return."
"Yes but that's the first thing people would think." He states as a matter of factly.
"I don't care, dad! I care about myself and my heart. I thought that's the reason you're here too but as always the only thing you care about is your company. You don't care that you married your daughter to someone who doesn't love or care about her." I feel a tear and I quickly wipe it away. "Everyday has been a struggle. I try my best to stay strong and put a smile on my face but I'm dying inside."
"You're just being dramatic."
"You know what? You should leave." I tell him.
He shakes his head. "Goodbye, Amelia."
****
After my dad left, I went shopping then I went to the private pool for a swim.
I'm now about to take a shower but I hear a knock on the door. A part of me hopes that it's my dad coming back to apologize but I know that's impossible.
I walk to the door and as I look through the peephole, my heart drops.
I twist the door know and put on a straight face. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you." Adam smiles devilishly. He looks very handsome. He's changed from the clothes I saw him with earlier.
He walks in like he owns the place and looks around. There are shopping bags everywhere.
"I like to shop when I'm upset so I went earlier." I explain.
"Did you have fun?"
I nod softly.
"I'm glad you did." He replies as his eyes look down my body. "Is this how you usually answer the door?"
"No. I went swimming earlier."
"I see."
"Do you want water or anything?"
"I'm good."
"Well, I want to take a shower."
"Go ahead. I'll wait."
I took my time showering and getting dressed and when I come out, I see Adam having a cup of coffee.
"Hi." I speak.
"Come here." He says and I walk over to him. "How are you? You feeling better?"
"Yes."
"Good. You're not sleeping here anymore."
"What?"
"I'm taking you home with me."
"So that's why you're being nice!"
His lip twitches and he stares at me in amusement, "Nice?"
"I'm not going anywhere with you."
"Yes, you are. Even if I have to carry you down twenty floors."
"I told you I needed some space."
"I don't trust this place, Amelia. I'm always worrying about you. I can't let my wife stay at a God damn hotel anymore."
"I'm not your real w-"
"Yes, you are and you know it so pack whatever stuff you can now. I will send someone to get the rest of it."
"Do you know what you're doing? You're making me more angry and I want to stay here now more than ever."
"It's a good thing you're cute when you're angry."
"Stop!"
"Go get your shoes."
"No, I-"
"Your shoes. I am very serious about carrying you." He deadpans.
I roll my eyes. I guess I can't win with him.
****
Adam brought me to a cafe nearby. I'm having a smoothie and he's having another coffee.
"I went to see your mum yesterday. She's really sick." I tell him after taking a sip.
Aunt Diana got a stomach bug. I visited her and she was really happy to see me. She and I aren't close as we used to be because for some reason, Adam gets upset every time I see her.
"I know." He says.
"Why won't you go see her?" Yes, she's been sick for three days and her first child, hasn't gone or called to check up on her.
"I'm busy."
"Too busy for the person that gave birth to you? Are you serious?"
"Stop overreacting. It's not a big deal."
I scoff in disbelief. "You're honestly so heartless. How can you even say that? Money is not the end of the world but you put your stupid company above everything like nothing else matters."
"Stupid company? At least I have something to be proud of unlike you! You're so spoilt, Amelia! Be reasonable for one second in your life. You don't understand what it's like to have a job and a responsibility."
"And I pray to God I never do, not the way you do anyway. And I do have something to be proud of, I have a life. I have friends and a family that I love and care about. If I die right now, I wouldn't have any regrets. I have people the will miss me and mourn but I'm not sure you can say the same." I stand up and leave.
****
"Mrs Black, may I speak to you in private?" The hotel manager comes up to me as I walk back into the lobby.
"Uhn, sure."
"I want to let you know that you've been checked out of the hotel."
My body freezes. "What? What do you mean?"
He gives me a nervous look. "There's a car outside that will take you wherever you want."
"You have until eleven tonight to pack your stuff." He's trying he's best to sound polite but I feel really insulted.
"Did my husband do this?"
"No, your father."
Who am I kidding? Adam would never do something like this to me.
"Okay, thank you."
I head up to my room which is not really my room anymore even though I've paid for it.
I take my phone and call Tyler. "Tyler, what the fuck? You know the only reason I decided to stay at this hotel is cause you're my friend. I knew I'd be safe."
"I know, I know. I'm so sorry, Amelia but your dad threatened the hotel. There was nothing I could do."
"He did what?!! Is that even legal?"
"If he's Edward Smith, I guess it is."
I sigh out loud. "I'm sorry that me being here caused issues."
"It's not a big deal. You can come and stay with Jake and I if you want. We'll be happy to have you."
"It's fine but thanks for offering."
"You're welcome. Call me if you need anything, okay?"
"Okay, goodnight."
"Goodnight."
My phone starts ringing immediately after I hang up and I curse when I see the caller.
Liam has been calling me nonstop and I've been ignoring him because I don't want to talk to him.
"What?" I ask as I answer.
"Adam got into an accident. You need to come to the hospital."
