《Married By Chance》Chapter 22: Mr Black, Mrs Black.

Amelia's outfit above.

PS: This is the longest chapter I've written so far.

"Good morning." I greet with a smile. I'm sitting on a stool by the kitchen island in our hotel suite in Seoul.

Adam just gives me a bored look and walks to the coffee maker.

I sip my orange juice and continue going through my Instagram. There are pictures of me everywhere. People, E!, Elle and so on.

'Amelia Smith is back on the runway, looking gorgeous as ever. Link in bio for more details.'

Well, as obnoxious as this sounds, I do look gorgeous on the picture so I take a screenshot.

I scroll down and I see a picture of Rob. He's only wearing a pair of red shorts and sunglasses. He looks hot so I smile and write down a comment.

Liam has been off social media since our breakup. He deleted his Instagram account and later let out a statement that it was 'hacked' just so people wouldn't ask questions.

If I was on the other side of the story, I totally wouldn't be believing all these lies. I'm sure most people don't but no one obviously wants to mess with the Elite Council.

I keep scrolling and I come across another picture of me but this time, I had Adam by my side. I'm looking down while he's looking at his right side with a straight face on.

"Does the paparazzi usually attack you like the way the did yesterday?" I ask.

"Yeah." He answers gruffly.

Look at him acting like he's not the guy that held me in arms as I cried last night.

I turn around and face him. "Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?"

He pours his coffee in a mug, not looking at me. His eyes are looking down at his mug, display his long beautiful and full lashes. He's got great lashes. "How are you feeling?" He asks.

"Hmmm?" I mumble, suddenly going back to my senses.

He takes the mug off the counter and raises his dark eyes to meet mine. "You were crying last night."

"Oh, I'm fine. Just a dream." I reply, brushing my hair back.

After my dream last night, I went to the other bedroom and was surprised to see all my stuff that I left at the other hotel.

"And you miss your mummy?" Adam mocks then takes his mug to his lips.

I scoff putting my hand up in defence, "Excuse me. She was in the dream and I felt a little sad, I'm not a child."

He gives me a look then bites his pink lips. "You should invite her for dinner tonight."

I tilt my head. "Aren't we going to Miami?"

"You said you missed your mu-"

"Please don't say mummy again." I roll my eyes with a smile. "And I told you it was only because of the dream I had." I say and he gives me another look so I sigh. "I'm not a child, Adam. I can survive a few days without my mummy. I haven't seen her in like two months already." As I say that, my eyes widen and I feel a tightness in my chest.

I have never gone that long without seeing her. I'm such a bad person. I put my elbows on the island then push my face in my hands.

"What's wrong?"

"I'm the worst person ever. Oh my God." I whisper.

"Amelia, are you okay?" He asks but it's not in a 'i worry about you' tone. It's more like 'I'm worried if you're crazy' tone.

"I had a fight with Jacob, with you, with my dad and Nicole. I'm a total bitch." I announce.

"You had a fight with Nicole? Was that why you left her house in tears?"

"Yes, I-" I take a pause then look up. "How did you know about that?"

"I ask for reports." He answers then also sits on a stool.

"What?" I snap.

"Where you go, what time you leave and go back home, who you hang out with, I know all of that." He simply explains.

My mouth drops. "You have someone stalking me, is that it?"

"Stalking?" He asks in disbelief.

"Yes cause what you said sounds so fucking creepy." I bring my hand on the island.

"Have you forgotten that you have bodyguards?"

Bodyguards? I know Cooper is my bodyguard and yes, I met Dante and Kristen but I don't think they guard me in Bluefall.

"There's someone beside Cooper?"

"Amelia, you are Edward's daughter and my wife. There are people that want to see your dad or I go down and you are an easy target for that. Also, you are a supermodel, also quite famous yourself."

"Yes." I agree, understanding his point.

"I can't just have one person protecting you. You have four bodyguards. I introduced you to Cooper because of the X situation . I wanted to know if you were comfortable with him guarding you." He says.

Yeah, whatever.

"You have a British accent." I say out of the blue.

He looks at me in surprise. "I know."

"It doesn't show sometimes but other times like now, it's really strong."

He rolls his eyes. "Thank you for the observation."

"So why do you ask for the reports?"

"Because I need to know that you are okay and you are hanging out with the right people."

I smile sweetly. "Cause you care about me?"

He rolls his eyes again.

After that, we go downstairs and have breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Then we checked out and head to our car.

"Good morning, Mr Black, Mrs Black." A big bulky guy in suit greets.

"Good morning, Wesley." Adam says and I freeze. Wesley?

I look up and my eyes widen. It's the guy from my dream. He looks older but I'm so sure that it's the same person. He's an average looking tall guy with dark brown hair. I can tell that he is at least forty seven years old.

"Good morning." I smile at him.

Adam opens the car door for me and I go in then he goes in through the other side, with his phone pressed to his ear.

"Yes, I am on my way to the airport..... It is a seventeen hour flight, what do you think?" I sense some anger in his tone. "Sure, whatever. I want him gone before I get there......No, I have given him enough chances......I want him fired, I mean it." He says firmly then hangs up.

My assistant and my glam team are all on their way back to Bluefall via commercial. Adam said we are only spending a day in Miami so there's no need for them to come.

I don't know why I am going. He said he's going there for a meeting. It's not like I'm going to be in the meeting with him.

I shake my head and look down at my phone. I have so many messages. I don't know how to start replying them. My model friends have all flew back to their homes. I had an amazing time with them and I wish I could see them more often.

"So Wesley?" I call out randomly after a while of being in the car. "Can I call you Wesley?"

He is sitting in the passenger's seat while a Korean man drives.

"Yes, ma'am." His smiling eyes meet mine through the rearview mirror.

I nervously stroke my hair. "Um, so you've known Adam for a long time. Am I right?"

"Yes." He replies.

"So have you seen me before?" I ask then quickly add, "When I say before, I mean before I moved in with Adam."

I don't want him to get confused because he has probably seen me around the house. I'm talking about the past.

"Well, I was at the wedding." He says.

"How about before the wedding? Like when I was six or five years old?"

His eyes widen at me through the mirror and he quickly moves them to Adam who now looks stiff. Our eyes meet and I see his jaw clench hard so I smirk at him then call, "Wesley?"

"Yes, I have." He answers in a soft voice.

"Really? Then-" I stop talking when the privacy glass starts sliding up then look at Adam who is pushing a black button beside him.

His eyes are focused on the iPad down on his lap, his pink lips in a thin line.

When the glass finally goes up and I'm blocked from Wesley, he pulls back his hand.

"Adam!" I start.

"Shut your mouth." He snaps and my eyes widen. What the fuck?

****

"I'm mad at you." I tell Adam as he comes into my hotel bedroom.

We arrived here in Miami at six in the morning and I we went straight to bed. When I woke up around eleven, Adam was gone so I took a shower and ordered room service.

I spent most of the day alone watching Suits on my laptop. Two hours ago, I went around the hotel and hung out by the pool.

"Why?" Adam starts taking off his grey tie.

"You made me to come with you and you practically abandoned me." I snap, glaring at him.

He sighs and runs his fingers through his hair. "I'm sorry."

"You better be." I glare harder.

"I thought the meeting was going to take an hour or two but it turned out that there were more things that needed to be discussed." He explains.

"What happened?"

"My financial manager here has been stealing money."

"Wow. That's fucked up."

"I know." He says leaning against the wall.

"I fired him." He adds.

"Is he going to jail?"

"No, he has a family. His wife is a good woman and he's got five kids. I decided to not press any charges." Adam says casually.

He's so considerate and humble.

"Oh."

"Tell me about your day." He says in a tired voice.

I glare at him again.

He pouts. "I said I was sorry."

"I just sat here, thinking about stuff then went to the pool and I bought a house."

His eyes widen. "You what?"

"I bought a house." I repeat.

There's a look of confusion on his face. "How? I was told that you didn't leave the hotel."

"I met this guy at the pool area. He's a real estate agent. He showed me pictures of some houses and I loved one of them so I got it." I explain with a shrug.

"You bought it?" He whispers.

"Well, I haven't made the payment yet. He said that there's some paperwork that needs to be done first." I twist my ring.

"Amelia, what am I going to do with you?" He murmurs.

"Hmmm?" I look up at him.

"You can not just buy a house from a stranger you met by the pool."

"Why not?"

"Because he might be a scammer and why are you even buying a house in Miami?"

"I like it here and the house is really cool. I can bring my friends for a girls weekend and if you and I come here again, we don't have to say at a hotel."

He frowns. "You don't like staying at hotels?"

"I do but we can save money."

He gives me a look. "The one that needs to be saving money is you."

"It's not that expensive."

"How much is it?"

"Seven million." I smile.

He blinks at me. "That is expensive."

"Compared to our house in Bluefall, the house is very very cheap." I state.

"It is not expensive when you're a billionaire but it is when you have twenty one million dollars in your bank account."

What the fuck? What the actual fuck?!

"You know my account balance?!" I yell in disbelief.

"Yes."

"Adam!" I exclaim.

"Hmm?"

"That is not okay. You can't dig on my personal information."

"It is okay if you are my wife." He says simply.

"No, it's not!" I yell in frustration.

He keeps quiet then studies me for some time. "Are you angry?"

"Yes, I am." I answer honestly, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I'm sorry." He says softly.

"Ugh!" I groan and pull the covers over my head. This is so frustrating.

I feel Adam's weight on the bed and I freeze. Then I feel him poking my side.

"Stop." I smile under the covers.

"I'm sorry." He repeats in a sexy warm voice.

"Okay."

He pokes me again. "Do you forgive me?"

I remove the covers then turn around to face him. His face has an expression I've never seen before. It's warm and kind of playful.

"I will on one condition." I grin.

"Okay, what?" He asks.

Then it suddenly clicks. I'm lying down in bed with Adam Black. I look down at his body. He's so freaking sexy. He's wearing a white shirt and light grey pants.

"I want you to answer some questions."

"Okay."

"When is your birthday?"

He sits up and leans his body against the headboard. "August 15th."

Hmm. A Leo, sexy.

"And your hobbies?" I want to know more about him.

"Playing golf, horseback riding, collecting cars, watching soccer games, astronomy, making money." He lists.

"I like horseback riding." I tell him with a smile.

"I know." He replies then pushes some hair away from my face. Oh my heart!

"And I love your cars."

"Which one is your favourite?"

"Alfa Romeo."

He nods. "Interesting."

"How about you?"

"The Maybach Exelero."

Of course. The car is him in every sense. It's sexy, smooth and really classy.

"Do you think everything will be fine when we go back home?" I ask softly.

He frowns. "Why wouldn't it be?"

I sigh. "I know I'm not the same person I was before the marriage. I got into therapy to get over Liam and that has done some good for me but for some reason, I still don't feel happy."

"Making sacrifices comes with risks that include losing yourself." He says. "You gave up something for the sake of other people and I am sure they appreciate you and what you have done. It is time for you to appreciate yourself. That is the only way you can be happy."

"Nicole thinks that I act like I'm perfect." I tell him. "Do you?" He asks.

"I don't know. I know that I always try to do things perfectly. I want everything in my life to be perfect." I answer then pout.

"And?"

"Well, I kind of think that my life is perfect. I mean, I have everything. Good grades, looks, rich parents, amazing friends, a cool job even though I don't really want it, an amazing house and and stuff like that." I states as a matter of factly.

"Well, maybe Nicole is right." He says looking blankly at the dressing mirror.

"You do think that you are perfect and that is really obnoxious." He looks at me, crossing his arms over his chest.

I gape. Did he really call me obnoxious?

"First of all, you have good grades and that is great but your job, your parents being rich and your looks." He shakes his head.

"Yes?"

He shrugs. "You might not be as beautiful as you think you are."

Oh my God. "That is really mean." I tell him but he doesn't seem to care.

"I know you hear it from a lot of people but just because they say it doesn't mean it is true. People say things to others to make them feel better." He says looking into my eyes.

"So what you're saying now is that I'm ugly?" I ask in disbelief. I know I'm not ugly. I'm a supermodel for a reason.

"No, I'm just saying that all those things that you have mentioned are things that appear to people from the outside. Just because you are perfect from the outside doesn't mean you are in the inside and that is even more important."

Adam explanation makes frown because he is right. He makes so much sense. And thank God he doesn't think I'm ugly though compared to him, I think I might be.

"If you're going to call your self perfect, you should look at your achievements not things that have been given to you. Your parents, your job, your looks. They're all gifts, you didn't work for either of them and that's probably why you got cut off.

"That is not my fault. I didn't raise or spoil myself, my parents did." I defend.

He closes his eyes. "This is the problem, Amelia. You do not even acknowledge your faults. You always blame other people."

"I don't." I lie. Fuck! He has me figured out. Completely. This reminds me of the whole Liam thing. I kept blaming him.

"You are not the only person that grew up with rich parents. All your friends are rich and you don't see them act the way you do."

"How do I act?"

"You take everything for granted, you don't appreciate the things that you have and you think the world revolves around you." He answers. "And that is not anybody's fault. It's yours. You chose to be that way."

"Right." I agree in a soft voice, feeling my eyes sting a bit. I'm about to cry. He is right about everything and I really appreciate his honesty.

He sighs then cups my face with one hand. "I am not saying all this to hurt you. I just want to loose the confusion in your head."

"I know and I can't believe that I'm just realising all that. Everything you said is true."

"Yes but my point in all this is you do not have to be a ten out of ten. It is okay to be a seven or a six. You are always pressuring yourself to be the best so that is why I am saying you do not have to be the best and it's okay to have flaws." He says softly.

"You sound like Bridget." I chuckle.

He scoffs. "Oh, please do not compare me with that parrot."

"Parrot?" I laugh out loud.

"Yes, I used to see her." He shares.

Adam in therapy. That's interesting. I know he has gone through a lot so I'm not really surprised.

"We've talked about me enough. Now it's time to talk about you."

"No."

"Oh come on, we've been married for almost five months and I don't know anything about you except what you shared earlier."

He keeps quiet and shakes his head no so I beg.

"Please, Adam. I've shared more than enough about myself."

Seconds later, he sighs. "Fine, that's fair. What do you want to know?"

"When we were kids-"

"Pass." He says with finality.

Why doesn't he want to talk about that?! Now, I know that it surely wasn't a simple dream. It was a memory. But why can't I remember?

"Fine, you moved to London when you were five, right?"

"I was six but I don't want to talk about that either." He states not looking at me.

"Okay, can we talk about your ex?"

He looks at me. "Which one?"

My eyes widen. "How many were they?"

"Enough."

"A number, please." I roll my eyes.

"I dated a lot of girls, Amelia."

"But how many of them were serious girlfriends?"

"Two." He says.

"Oh, wow." That's not much but I wonder how many unserious ones he's had.

"How about you? How many boyfriends?"

"Also two"

He raises his eyebrow. "Before Liam?"

I shake my head. "No, Liam and another guy in high school."

"Okay."

I look at him nervously. "Can you tell me about Eva?"

"Liam told you already."

"I want to hear it from you."

"She's from Texas and she moved to London when she was eighteen. We were neighbours and almost the same age so every time her family was invited over, she and I would talk and since I practically lived there my whole life, sometimes, I take her out and show her around the city and eventually I began to like her so I told her but she did not feel the same way." He says unemotionally. I've never heard him shared so many words at the same time.

I love him hearing speak.

"Why?" I ask because let's face it, he is gorgeous. Why wouldn't anyone want to be with him?

He frowns then scratches his eyebrow. "She was in love with some guy back in Texas."

"Oh." I mumble.

"Her dream has always been to become a supermodel so one time, I asked her to go to Bluefall with me to meet my parents because Diana has really good connections. She said she couldn't so I went alone and when I came back, she was at the airport, waiting for me and from then we started dating because she said she was over the guy."

My eyes widen. "That's it?"

"Yes."

What a bitch! She probably made the decision to use him after he left. I want to know more though because Liam said she cheated with a guy that got her a VS show.

"Why did it end?"

Adam eyes meet mine. "I broke up with her."

"Why?" I press.
