You looked at Mingyu who was sitting next to you and then at Jungkook who sat across. Mingyu makes eye contact with you when you look back and he shrugs.
"How are you doing?" Mingyu asks. "I've barely seen you at the basketball court anymore."
"I'm fine. Just been trying to read Pride and Prejudice." You wave the book in the air. "I almost fell asleep 3 times."
"It took you a week to finish the book? And I thought you were the smart one." He teases, making you chuckle.
"Yea well I don't know. I just don't like the book." You shrugged. "So? Are we going to discuss or what?"
"Yea Jungkook. What are we going to discuss?" Mingyu smiles at his friend who grunts in response.
"Um I guess what did you like about the book?" You suggested. "What do you think could've gone differently and all that."
"Well I think that Mr. Darcy was a dick."
"He was a dick but I loved the letter where he explained why he had done everything in the past. He sounded earnest."
"Oh, I didn't finish that whole part. I gave up halfway." Mingyu laughs causing you to follow suit.
"Do you really think that a letter is enough to change a girls mind on their feelings?" Jungkook scoffs. "That only happens in novels."
"Well it was a novel so it doesn't matter now does it." You roll your eyes at him and Mingyu shoots you a curious look. "But technically she didn't believe it at first until she realized the truth. Who knows maybe someone out there has the same love story as them."
"Ok lets write this stupid report!" Mingyu shouts and starts typing on his laptop.
At the end of the week, our reports were all due and we handed them in at the beginning of class. The professor starts talking about the novel and students raise their hand participating in the discussion.
"Y/N what did you think about the book?" The professor smiles at you.

"Uh well... I loved the part where the maid reveals Darcy's good side of him, it was what made Elizabeth fall in love with him."
"Don't you think that Elizabeth mistaken love for greed or guilt?" You turned back and Jungkook was looking down at you. "Her family was put in a tough position, it wouldn't be hard to believe that Elizabeth never really loved Darcy but wanted his money."
"Elizabeth never wanted to marry anyone for wealth and status." You argued. "If she did then she would've chosen Mr. Collins."
"Then why would she socialize with Darcy when she tells herself not to dance with him?" Jungkook leans against his desk. "Maybe she just doesn't realize it."
"Then why would she reject Darcy? He had wealth and power yet she refused his proposal because she didn't love him."
"Alright fair point." Jungkook nods his head and you felt relieved since this was starting to feel all too familiar. "But don't you agree that Darcy should've stopped chasing after Elizabeth after her rejection?"
You knew what Jungkook was trying to get at. He was never talking about the book, he was talking about your relationship. First you were Elizabeth now you're Darcy.
Mingyu and their friends seemed to have also caught on because they were whispering and eyeing you.
"Darcy had given Elizabeth space when he had visited their estate with Bingely. It wasn't only until Bingely had gotten engaged with Jane where he didn't care and hinted that he still felt the same." You answered, "but if Elizabeth hadn't felt the same then he would've stopped loving her and changed his feelings."
"I wonder what would happen if Elizabeth didn't feel the same..." Mingyu mutters, eyeing you.
"Then I think that Darcy would stay true to his words."
"Then I think that Darcy would stay true to his words." She said looking directly into my eyes.
Some part of me didn't believe that she was telling the truth, she hasn't given up for 3 years. Yet some part of me wishes she didn't say it at all.

The bell rings and Y/N packs up. I stand trying to go after her but Yugyeom and Jaehyun hold me back.
"Dude what's going on between you and Y/N?" Yugyeom smirks at me. I felt my eyebrow twitch when he mentioned her name.
"None of your business." I shrugged his arm off and slung my bag over my shoulders.
"When did you even start calling her by her real name?"
Yugyeom looks at the others then at me. "Everyone's been doing it after the club. She's actually pretty chill, we're all going to eat barbeque later."
"You are?" I furrowed my eyebrows glancing at the others who avoided my gaze.
"Yea well the other day when you decided to skip school Bambam wasn't here too so we couldn't play. Mingyu had the stupid idea of taking us to the library since we didn't even start on our reports." Yugyeom chuckles.
"Uh huh..." I poked the inside of my cheek with my tongue. "So where's the place?"
"What?" Jaehyun said off guard. "You wanna come too?"
"Well everyone else is going to be there."
"Sure. Why not. That famous bbq place close by." Mingyu smiles but there was something knowing about it that I didn't like.
"Do you need a ride there?" Jinyoung asks when you walk into the living room.
"No I'm good, my friend's supposed to pick me up." You smile and tie your hair into a high ponytail. "If I need a ride back then I'll call you. They'll probably get drunk."
"Got it." He smiles and hugs you. "Have fun."
The past few days you've gotten used to the small intimate gestures. Though you were very awkward and stiff at first you slowly eased into it, you would have to get used to it sooner or later anyways and you liked it.
There was a honk outside of the house and you left. Mingyu was giving you an apologetic look when his gaze shifted to the person sitting in the passenger seat. You leaned a bit and recognized the flower and thorn tattoo on their neck. Jungkook.
Why was he coming? You took one look at Mingyu and knew that he was the one who told him.
Of course.
What was he trying to do though? He was the one who told you that you needed to distance yourself from him.
"Surprised to see me stalker?" Jungkook speaks up when Mingyu starts the car.
"Of course. You weren't invited." You rested your head against the window. You love his voice, but if you want to keep your space you shouldn't hear anymore.
"Why have you been hanging out with my friends behind my back? Trying to get them to like you so you can get into our group?"
Just ignore him Y/N. Just ignore him. If you don't speak he won't talk.
Eventually he stopped talking and you were grateful. When you arrived at the restaurant everyone else was already there. You took notice of all the bottles of soju and how many of them were already empty. You sighed knowing all will get drunk by the end of the night.
An hour into the dinner and you were right. They were all drunk. The only ones sober were you, Mingyu, and Jungkook.
"You really like that necklace." Mingyu says and you look down at the necklace you got from Jinyoung. "You've been playing with it subconsciously."
"I have?" You let out an airy laugh.
"It looks nice. Where did you get it from?" You looked at the others unsure. "It's fine they won't remember anything."
"Jinyoung gave it to me." You smiled. "It's really thoughtful. Symbolic almost."
"How?"
"The flower inside means Sanctuary. He'll be there when there's nowhere else to go."
"He's going to be your husband, what does he mean nowhere else to go." Mingyu laughs.
You saw Jungkook who sat at the other end of the table eyeing you and the necklace. "No... He picked me up when I felt lost."

8 174Sara's (not really) Fabulous System Armageddon, Book I: The World Ended at Rush Hour
Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark. It was anything but fabulous. * * Updates every Wednesday and Sunday.
