《Mr. Kim | [A Jinayeon Story]》Chapter 4

Nayeon watches as Jinyoung quietly closes Jisoo's door. He turns to her shyly as Nayeon thanks him, "I really appreciate it. Sorry if it's too late." Jinyoung rubs his nape awkwardly and says, "It's fine. At least, I got your number and don't hesitate to call me when you need help or if you just want to hang out..."
Jinyoung starts to get more shy as Nayeon stares at him in disbelief. She thinks to herself, "D-did he just..." Jinyoung then says, "Well, good night."
Nayeon turns to go to her dorm but Jinyoung suddenly says, "Actually..." Nayeon turns around again and Jinyoung starts to get even more shy as he says, "I've been wanting to get this off my chest... so here goes nothing."
Nayeon just stares at him as he says, "Nayeon, I like you." She takes a step back in surprise as the first person she thinks of is Jisoo. She starts to feel guilty even though none of this is her fault. Jinyoung embraces her in a hug and says, "I know you aren't in the best state of mind right now, but please. Tell me how you feel right now."
Nayeon pushes him away and he looks at her with saddened eyes. She stutters, "S-sorry, it's just..." He bows his head already knowing her answer and quickly smiles back at her, "Ah. Okay, it's fine. I just wanted to ask you because I didn't want to regret not asking. You really don't have to... It's okay." She notices his saddened mood and his teary eyes so she says, "Sorry." then quickly goes to her room. Jinyoung rakes his hair back trying to hold back his sadness.
He just got rejected.
----
The next few days for Nayeon have been terrible. She can't seem to talk to Jinyoung or even make eye contact because she feels guilty for rejecting him like that. The worst part is that he's acting like it never happened but Nayeon still feels bad.
Jisoo has also been avoiding her. Nayeon doesn't know why but she never sees her anymore even if they're just neighbors. She feels as if she did something wrong but she can't figure out what. Her college friends seem to just disappear and she feels more lonely as time goes by. Not only that but her work is starting to pile up and with her part time job, she can't seem to relax anymore.
Nayeon knocks on Jisoo's door waiting for an answer. Jennie answers with a small smile and says, "Hey, you need anything?" Nayeon tries to peek inside but Jennie closes the door a little so she can't see anything. Nayeon asks, "Have you seen Jisoo? I haven't seen her lately and I'm worried." Jennie keeps her smile and says, "No sorry. I think she's out with... some friends."

Nayeon just smiles and says, "Oh... Can you tell her to call me when she gets back?" Jennie just nods and Nayeon leaves the room.
Jennie goes back inside with her arms crossed and an intense glare. She stares at Jisoo who's hiding under the blanket and says, "Why did you make me lie to Nayeon? Did you do something?" Jisoo says, "No."
Jennie tugs the blanket and Jisoo complains at the sudden coldness. Jennie threatens, "Tell me what happened or else I'm getting Nayeon and Jinyoung." Jisoo sits up straight and says, "FINE! But you take this to your grave!"
Jennie stares at her friend with her jaw dropped and her eyes widened. She stutters, "Y-you like Jinyoung?" Jisoo nods and Jennie continues, "A-and he likes Nayeon?" Jisoo nods again but this time slower. Jennie says, "So why are you avoiding her?"
Jisoo groans as he ruffles her own hair, "Ugh, don't remind me about her!" Jennie looks at her with concerned eyes and says, "Yah, don't let jealousy ruin that great friendship!" Jisoo lies on her bed with her face buried in her hands. She says, "I can't even look at her, it just reminds me how Jinyoung doesn't like me and only likes her." Jennie scoffs and says, "Then go talk to Jinyoung, tell him your feelings." Jisoo twists and turns on her bed as she says, "It's not that easy! I haven't spoken to him in days and he didn't even try contacting me! He hates me!" Jennie chuckles and says, "Now, you're overreacting."
Jennie adds on, "I haven't seen Jinyoung in a while too. What did Nayeon say when he confessed?" Jisoo stays quiet as Jennie says, "Did you hear her answer?" Jisoo stays quiet again and Jennie says, "Yah, what if Nayeon rejected him? You're making this situation worse by not doing anything and avoiding both of them!" Jisoo stays quiet once again.
A sudden lightbulb forms on Jennie's head as she grabs her phone and stands up. Jisoo whines, "Are you leaving me too?" Jennie nods and says, "Uhh, someone is calling me and I'm tired of your complaining. So bye." Jisoo throws a pillow at her and says, "Friends are supposed to listen to other friends complaining!"
Jennie just leaves the room as Jisoo goes back to her bed and pulls out her laptop. Might as well spend time watching K-dramas...
A few minutes into her show, a knock on the door is heard and Jisoo chooses to ignore it. They knock again and Jisoo hides herself under her blanket. Hopefully, they'd think that no one is home.
They continuously knock on the door and Jisoo tries her best to ignore it. But it was too much. She wrapped herself in her blanket and stood up furiously. She slams the door open and yells, "YAH! CAN'T YOU SEE NO ONE IS HOME!"

Her eyes widen as she stutters, "J-jinyoung... What are you doing here?" He walks inside and says, "Jennie told me you like me." Jisoo blushes and says, "I-I'll kill her." Jinyoung sighs and says, "So is it true?"
Jisoo replies, "It doesn't matter. You like Nayeon." He sighs and says, "Yeah, I do..." She says angrily, "Then why are you here!" Jinyoung sits in her bed and says, "I wanted company and you're the best listener I know." Jisoo sits next to him and says, "D-did Nayeon like you back?" He shakes his head and Jisoo bites her lips.
He pushes her and says, "You should've told me you liked me earlier! I wouldn't have gotten rejected." Jisoo stutters, "W-what?" Jinyoung rakes his hair back and says, "We can't date now because I'm still getting over Nayeon and I don't want you to feel like a rebound so..." Jisoo stares at him confused and he says, "We'll try later."
Jisoo replies coldly, "It feels like I'm a rebound. How do I know you're not just doing this because Nayeon rejected you?" Jinyoung says, "Come on Jisoo, I've been calling you but it says you blocked me. I've been asking Jennie where you were but she kept saying you were with friends which makes no sense because I'm your only friend! I was worried about you because you never talked to me."
Jisoo stays quiet and he says, "I'm not in the state to be dating right now but... I'll try my best to reciprocate your feelings."
Jisoo chuckles and says, "That was a long and complicated way of saying you like me." Jinyoung shrugs and says, "At least you got the point."
...
Nayeon decides to take a long walk to distract herself from school. She ran into Jennie earlier in the hall but they only exchanged simple greetings. Nayeon puts her earphones on as she walked under the now dark sky. Her thoughts wander.
From how Jinyoung had a crush on her and confessed his feelings. To how Jisoo's been avoiding her ever since the confession. Maybe she overheard? Maybe she thinks I'm a traitor? Then her mind wanders to Jin. Words can't explain how much she wants to hear him laugh or see his smile. But his words ring through her head, "Just my student..."
What does she expect? Jin to risk his job and start dating his student. For Jin to fall in love at first sight. She blushes just thinking of his handsome smile but her heart aches once she realizes it's impossible for them to be together.
Nayeon unknowingly starts talking to herself. She takes off her earphones and puts them in her pocket. She remembers the smug look that girl at the bar gave her. She huffs and continues to stomp.
Sobs and hiccups catch her ear. Being the curious bunny she is, Nayeon quietly peaks to the origin of the sound. Her eyes widen as she sees Jin kissing the crying girl. The girl slaps his face and says weakly, "W-what was that for?" Jin says, "A goodbye kiss."
The girl blushes and just walks away leaving Jin standing there. Nayeon whispers, "T-that's not the girl from the bar." Jin surprisingly hears her and turns his head towards her direction. Nayeon steps back in surprise and falls on her butt. She tries to get up and run away but Jin is already in front of her.
He helps her up and asks, "How long have you been standing there?" Nayeon says shyly, "Is your cheek okay?" Jin places his right hand on the reddened cheek and says, "Ahh, so you saw that part."
Nayeon says in fear, "I promise I won't say anything!" Jin chuckles and says, "My dating life isn't so private so I don't mind. Just... tone it down a bit when you tell your friends." Nayeon bites her lip and looks everywhere except Jin's direction. Jin watches her get shy and chuckles, "Cute." She raises her head not hearing what he said and he says, "It's getting late. I'll drop you off at your dorm."
Nayeon just nods as she proceeds to lead him on. She says in her mind, "It's now or never. I have to tell him. Even if he rejects me, I can't live on my left knowing that I never tried." She sees her dorm building and prepares herself. She can feel Jin's presence behind her back so she knows he hasn't left her.
Nayeon stops in front of the building and turns around. She says, "Jin-oppa, I-"
To her surprise, Jin places his hand on her lower back and pulls her towards him. Nayeon doesn't have time to react as Jin uses his other hand to cup her cheeks and kiss her lips. Nayeon's eyes widen then close as Jin continues to kiss her in the darkness of the night.
He breaks the kiss and looks at her with an intense gaze. Jin says, "Go inside, you have class tomorrow morning." Nayeon just obeys his dominating aura and bows. She whispers a shy, "Good night." Then runs inside the building. As she leaves her sight, Jin exhales loudly and falls to his knees.
He smiles proudly and says, "I can't believe I just did that."
Nayeon walks into her dorm and as the door closes, she falls down. Her knees gave in and her face blushes madly. She says, "W-what was that?"

8 185Tabula Rasa : An Unbound Adventure
It starts as many things do: a clean slate, an empty page. What once was set in stone and wholly writ is gone, and all that's left is the vague notion of absence, a fullness lacking. The feeling of being tetherless, pathless, without direction or responsibility is something many would find terrifying. Others might find it freeing - an opportunity to strike out on new adventures and explore the unknown.Either way, first they have to figure out where they are and how they leave. ====== My first novel on this platform! An avid GameLit/LitRPG fan, I decided to start writing this when I seemed to exhaust all of my options for well reviewed content on the site! Inspiration for the world/general feeling is a mix of Azarinth Healer, Abyssal Road Trip, Winterborn, and the Power of Ten series, with a strong reliance on 3.5 and PF1 frameworks as a scaffold for the world. I see Arc 1 as a Robinson Crusoe style coming to terms scenario, lots of exploration of the System, the MC's options, the island and encounters with the denizens and visitors of the Timeless Isle, with a non-zero amount of introspection around their long term goals. I'll publish as frequently as I'm able but don't have a regular cadence planned at the moment.
8 144Lost souls, will be rewritten soon. (Old version)
In a world where mages stand above the peasants, the nobles, and the law, it is not surprising that everyone wants to learn magic. Five siblings from a village in the middle of nowhere felt the same. Unfortunately, a dragon brought ruin to their home, eventually cornering the five blood brothers. Luz, the eldest brother, ignored the warnings of his ancestors for the sake of their survival. Using an ancient teleportation spell, he and his siblings were sucked into a portal leading to God-knows-where. In a foreign place far from home, Luz carries the burden of disobeying his ancestors and losing his younger brothers. He sets off to reunite his siblings and slay the dragon that destroyed their village while only being equipped with one useless space spell that drains all his mana after one usage. Author's note: English isn't my first language and this is the first novel I tried writing, which is why some of the earlier chapters aren't that good, even though I grew better over time. I'm still in the phase of editing a lot of my earlier chapters. But unfortunately, I haven't yet found any time for it. Daily updates are to be expected till we reach chapter 100. If your comment motivates me, I might upload up to five chapters.^^
