A few days into college...

Nayeon wakes to her alarm feeling grateful that she has no morning classes today. A reminder goes off on her phone and she glances at it lazily. She has a job interview today.

Yes, Nayeon needed a part time job for some pocket money. She fixes herself and goes to a nearby cafe. She applied to be a barista. It's a calming environment and she can study or do homework during her break. Plus, her addiction to coffee made it even a better experience.

After fixing herself and making her way for the job, she arrives in the cafe. The interview went smoothly and all she has to do now is a quick rundown of the job and she'll start the next day. The manager says, "Mina! Show Nayeon around!" Nayeon raises an eyebrow and says, "Mina? What a coincidence."

Mina comes out with a ponytail and a notepad on her hand. She says, "Unnie? You're working here now." Nayeon nods and Mina says, "Ohh..." She raises an eyebrow as Mina's surprising disappointment.

Suddenly, another person shows up and says, "There's a newbie?" Nayeon finally realizes why Mina is disappointed. Before Nayeon started working here, it was only Jimin and Mina at the counter. Jimin points at Nayeon and says, "Isn't that your roommate?" Mina nods and says, "I have to give her a tour and quick crash course."

Jimin says, "I can do it, if you want." Mina turns to him and says, "Why would I want you to do that?" Jimin replies a little bit flustered, "In case you didn't feel it or want to." Mina rolls her eyes and says, "Whatever... I'll do it." He realizes what Mina was thinking and chuckles then says, "I didn't mean it like that."

Mina raises an eyebrow and says, "Mean it like what?" Jimin shakes his head and says, "Nevermind. Hurry up, I'm going to be lonely at the counter."

Nayeon begins her tour as Mina says, "This book usually tells how to make a lot of things. It says measurements but it doesn't have to be precise. Now, for the cash register. We stopped using the original ones and use iPads now because it's the future. So it's pretty self explanatory. Tips go in the tip jar, not your pocket. We usually split the tip based on how many customers you serve a day. Most of our customers usually come in during the morning, lunch, or around 5 PM."

The bells at the front door ring and Mina says, "Perfect. Just give this person his order and you can go home." Nayeon just nods and makes her way to the cash register. She says, "May I take your order?" The guy says, "Wow, you're looking good today."

Nayeon's eyes widens as she realizes who's ordering in front of her and mutters, "Huh?" She stares at Jin who's currently looking at his phone. Nayeon calms down as she notices he's looking at a selfie he just took. Jin looks up and says, "Oh, I'll just get a Caramel Macchiato iced. Wait, I know you!"

Nayeon smiles and says, "One Iced Caramel Macchiato coming up." She takes a while but eventually gets the order out. Jin pays and Nayeon stares at him expectedly as he drinks it. Jin notices and says, "It's good if you're wondering." Nayeon smiles proudly and tells Mina, "Thank you! I'll be back tomorrow!"

Jin raises an eyebrow and says, "You don't work here?" Nayeon chuckles and says, "I'm starting tomorrow." The two then walk out of the cafe. Jin's eyes widen at seeing a familiar face. He says, "Nayeon, do you mind doing me a small favor?" Nayeon shakes her head and Jin is quick to embrace her in a hug. He whispers, "Relax, I'm just trying to get rid of someone."

A feminine voice says behind them, "Jin?" Jin breaks the hug and turns to her and says, "Mirae? I didn't see you there." Mirae stutters, "W-who's that?" Jin just smiles and says, "Oh it's no one." Mirae says a little bit irritated, "If it's no one then why did you hug her?" Nayeon notices what's happening and clings onto Jin's arm. Mirae looks at her with disgust written all over her face and just huffs then walks away.

Nayeon let's go and asks, "Ex?" Jin nods and says, "She cheated on me but never stopped annoying me after I broke up with her. Thanks by the way." She smiles and says, "No problem but you do owe me one." Jin ruffles her hair and says, "I promise to pay you back. I have to go so just... email me or something." Nayeon stops him and says, "Or... I can call you?" Jin says completely oblivious, "But you don't have my number."

She stares at him for a bit until he finally realizes, "Ohh!" He puts his number into her phone and says, "I'll call you."

As soon as Nayeon makes her way towards her bed, she stares at her phone and the newly inputted phone number. She says, "Should I call him? What should I say?" Nayeon continues to stare at the phone as she continues to crush on the college lecturer. She starts to blush imagining asking to go on a date with him. Her body leaning on his taller figure. His million dollar smile he shows every time he cracks one of his jokes.

Nayeon doesn't know much about him as they only had lunch one time but this is the perfect time to find out. But that's when doubt starts hitting her mind. What if he just sees her as a student? What if he's only being nice because she's his junior?

Nayeon goes to open the door and sees Jisoo and Jennie waiting for her. She raises an eyebrow and Jisoo says, "Do you have plans for tonight?" Nayeon thinks for a bit and shakes her head as Jisoo smiles and says, "Great! A friend of mine is coming over tonight and we wanted to invite you to drink with us."

Nayeon bites her lip thinking if she should accept or not as Jennie adds on, "Do you have any morning classes tomorrow? Because we want to get wasted." Nayeon shakes her head and Jisoo says, "AWESOME! We're leaving at 7!"

They shut the door and Nayeon giggles, "I guess I'm going."

...

Nayeon dresses casually as she sees Jennie and Jisoo waiting for her outside. She asks, "So who is this friend?" Jisoo says, "I met her a while ago when we were at a dog park. She was with her sister and after we saw each other's dogs, we just became friends." Nayeon just nods and they make their way towards the club.

A few hours in, Jisoo already took several shots and Jennie is isolated somewhere else surrounded by several guys trying to flirt with her. Nayeon became quick friends with Jisoo's friend. The two watch over Jisoo as she continues to drink.

Jeongyeon says, "So I moved out a while ago with my boyfriend, but I was around the area so I had to visit Jisoo. Luckily, I met you too." Nayeon smiles as she takes a drink from her cocktail and says, "Boyfriend? Tell me more." Jisoo overhears the word boyfriend and says, "bOyFriEnd? I'm jealous." Jeongyeon pets her head and says, "Relax Jichu..." Jisoo smacks her hand and starts tearing up, "NO! I can't relax! Because of that jerk!"

Jeongyeon and Nayeon are taken aback as Jisoo continues, "I love him so much but he's so freaking blind! I should just kill him!" The two are just quiet as they don't know how to react to the sudden explosion.

Jisoo puts her head on the table as she mutters, "I hate you Park Jinyoung! Get out of my mind! I never invited you into my heart but you're still there!"

She suddenly falls asleep and Jeongyeon just giggles. She says, "I guess the college stress is getting to her." Nayeon then whispers, "Now, tell me about your boyfriend." Jeongyeon gets shy and says, "Really smart and considerate. He understands when I need space and just knows what to say and when to say it." Nayeon's jaw drops as she says, "Wow, he sounds perfect..."

Jeongyeon shakes her head and says, "He's everything except perfect. He breaks everything and is super messy. You'd think someone as smart and responsible as him could stay organized, but I guess we cover each others' flaws." Nayeon's eyes sparkle as she says, "Wow, I wish I had someone like that."

"Nayeon?"

She turns her head and stutters, "Mr. K- Jin oppa?" Jin walks near and says, "Are you stalking me or is this another coincidence?" Nayeon being a little tipsy and says, "I think it's destiny." Jin chuckles and says, "Yeah, I guess so." He glances at the knocked out Jisoo and says, "Looks like she's having the time of her life." Nayeon chuckles and says, "You know how it is... College and life. Sometimes you just have to drink your worries away."

Jin laughs out loud as he can fully relate and Nayeon's heartbeat fastens as she sees that charming smile. Nayeon then takes up the courage and asks, "Do you want to join-"

She's suddenly interrupted as a woman not too older than her clings onto Jin's arm and says, "There you are! I thought you left." Jin puts his arm around her and says, "No, I just saw a familiar face." The woman gives a judgemental look at Nayeon and says, "Who is she?" Jin shakes the lady a bit and says, "Relax. She's just my student."

Nayeon's heart aches at those words, "Just my student..." Jin looks at Nayeon and says, "Nayeon this is Aeri. Aeri this is Nayeon." Nayeon fakes a smile and bows. Aeri half-heartedly bows her head and says, "Oppa, let's go. I'm tired."

Jin just nods and tells Nayeon, "Get home safely." She smiles but her smile disappears as his back turns and walks away with another woman. That's when reality hit her.

She's just his student. She was foolish thinking that he'd share the same feelings. Jeongyeon taps her shoulder and says, "Hey, are you okay?" Nayeon's eyes were tearing up and she hadn't noticed until Jeongyeon pointed it out. She says, "Ohh, yeah. We should head home, it's getting late."

Jeongyeon nods and says, "I'll get Jennie, you can wake up Jisoo." Nayeon just nods and starts shaking Jisoo to wake her up but nothing happens. Nayeon groans in annoyance and whines, "Come on Jichu, wake up!"

Jeongyeon suddenly joins them as she says, "Some guy dropped Jennie back to her dorm so we just have to bring Jisoo there." Nayeon smiles and says, "You can go, I'll deal with Jichu." Jeongyeon says, "Are you sure? I really don't mind helping out." Nayeon says, "I'm sure. I can handle her by myself, I hope you get home safely."

And like that, it was just Jisoo and Nayeon. Nayeon continues to try waking Jisoo up but she won't move. She sighs and goes on her phone to call a taxi. A number catches her eye as she remembers that Jisoo used her phone to call Jinyoung.

After a few rings, he surprisingly answers, "Hello? Who is this?" Nayeon says, "It's me. Nayeon. Can you come over, Jisoo is drunk and passed out." Jinyoung replies, "Where are you?"

In just a few minutes, Jinyoung showed up to the club. He glances at Jisoo and says, "I swear, you should never drink again." He piggybacks Jisoo and they head to their dorms.

Jinyoung drove with Jisoo in the backseat and Nayeon in the passenger side. The drive was quiet and Jinyoung's playlist served as background music. They soon arrived at their dorm and Jinyoung tucked Jisoo in her bed.

For some weird reason, Jisoo woke up a few minutes after she was laid down. Jisoo yawns and realizes that she's back in her dorm. She glances to the side and sees Jennie passed out on her own bed. She smiles and says, "Aww, Nadong dropped me home. I should go thank her if she's still awake."

Jisoo slowly and quietly opened the door so Jennie won't wake up and tries to head into Nayeon's dorm to see if she's awake and down for some midnight snacks.

"Nayeon, I like you."

Jisoo stops opening the door halfway as she recognizes his voice. She stealthily glances through the door as she sees Jinyoung embrace Nayeon into a hug.

Her heart breaks and she slowly closes the door only to go to her bed in tears. What did she expect? Of course, Jinyoung didn't feel the same. Of course, she was being delusional thinking that her lifetime best friend would suddenly catch feelings for her like she did with him.
