《CAPTIVATED》Chapter Twenty Three

"Alixandria, we need to leave! Amber scent is near, only she can control him now."

"What's wrong with him—oh!" As she'd finished that sentence, Idris had decided to take her in his arms and storm out of the apartment. "Idris," She pushed when he didn't answer.

"He's shifting, Alixandria." He finally looked down to meet her eyes, "I'm sorry, but Henry is shifting."

~

Henry felt as if his bones were breaking apart, one by one, they snapped. He could feel blood fill his mouth and he wasn't sure if it was because he had bitten himself or because he could feel his teeth breaking through his gums, but he could no longer scream.

The agony was so much that all he could do was writhe in pain.

His body was on fire and he could barely take it. He wanted to pass out, but it wasn't happening.

Henry closed his eyes as he called out for Alixandria. He wanted her here, to soothe the pain, but somehow he knew she was gone. Her scent was absent, something he was oddly aware about.

God! Henry screamed in agony in his mind.

He couldn't understand why this was happening to him, until he remembered, just before the pain started to take control, that Alixandria had told him to accept Amber.

In between the pain, he couldn't help but chuckle, realizing that that demonic woman would have something to do with this.

AHHHHRRGGG!

Henry felt as if his ears had burst, and for a moment he could hear nothing, just a loud high-pitched silence. He opened his eyes but he couldn't see clearly. Everything was a jumbled mess of bright lights.

Amber, he cursed!

If she had something to do with this, then he vowed to make her pay. The devil woman, he thought, as beautiful as she looked, as soft and silky as she felt, Henry tried to remember, she was evil...

And yet, as he withered in agony, his mind had oddly found comfort in the image of her face, but when another pain ran straight through his heart and down his spine, Henry fell into a pile on the floor, telling himself he was going to wring her by the neck, bite her, claw her, make her pay—

Henry could hardly breathe now and he began to feel his heart slow, and he panicked, fearing his heart would stop. He tried to stand, but he felt enormous, heavy, and he still could not see, could not hear, could not understand.

Anger surged through him and he began to claw, feeling his massive hands dig through anything in his path, when abruptly a soothing hand anchored to his shoulder.

Warmth spread through him, stopping him from causing anymore destruction.

It was then that the ringing in his ears started to dwindle and he realized that a voice was calling him.

"—nry....enry....HENRY!"

His ears cleared and the voice finally came through, as had other sounds. Sounds he had no idea why he should hear. A television, crickets, cars, the voice calling him. He clutched his ears now wishing he'd go back to being deaf.

"—enry, sssokay—"

No! Henry shuffled, but felt a pair of hands cup his face.

"ocus on ee...ocus on ee, Henry." the hands caressed his face, so warm and so soothing, he began to feel the other sounds fade into the background. "That's right...focus on me, on my voice."

For a long while, Henry stood there with his eyes closed, enjoying the soothing warmth of those hands, because he was afraid that the moment those hands left him, that all the pain and torture would return.

Henry could no longer feel the pain in his bones, his body ran hot but in a relieving way, and he also noticed he felt different... he felt stronger, a powerful energy began running through him.

As the hands caressed his cheek, Henry decided to open his eyes, expecting to see Alixandria.

Slowly, he opened one eye after another and for a moment the dark and light blurred the sight of the feminine silhouette standing in front of him, but even before his eyes cleared, Henry knew this was not Alixandria.

His nose had picked up on a scent. This woman smelt like roses and he found that the more he inhaled it, the more his mouth watered.

Henry shifted as he took her waist in his hands, keeping her from moving as his eyes cleared and then suddenly, just as his hearing had done, his sight was clear, so pristine he felt he'd been living his entire life blind before.

Everything was highly detailed, and the first thing Henry noticed was all the damage he had done to his and Alixadnria's apartment... and then, he looked down...

His blood boiled and his loins burned.

Amber, he tried to speak her name, but he couldn't and in his frustration, he gripped her by the throat and slammed her against the wall.

"Hello— handsome..." She choked out.

Henry wanted to tear out her throat there, to curse her out and yet words could not form in his throat and when her hand gripped at his arm, he realized with terror that his arm looked monstorous.

He shuffled back, afraid. Staring at the giant arms, covered in dark black fur. His fingers were longer and the ends contained sharp black talons, like animal claws.

Without thinking he moved until he was standing in front of a mirror, horrified by his reflection that made his soul practically leave his body. His muscles tensed and his heart thundered in his chest as he stared back at the monster that was him .

"Relax, handsome," Amber's voice came from the door. "I still think you're sexy."

Amber! He growled and at once pounced her way, gripped her by the throat once more. He knew that somehow this was all her fault.

"Hey, wow," She gripped his arm with all her strength. "That's no way to treat your mate!" She kicked him in the chest and twisted out of his grasp.

Henry quickly recovered and was back on her heels, following her up the steps, but Amber was fast.

"I did you a favor you know!"

Like hell, Henry fell to his hands, running up on all fours.

He reached out with a massive claw, and just when he thought he had her, she flipped off the wall landing somewhere behind him and before he could turn he felt a kick slam him forward.

Henry fell on his stomach and rolled to his back, but in the next instant Amber was straddling his lap.

"Henry!"

Arrg! Henry shifted but the motion had caused Amber's body to rub against his core. He felt a heat spear from his balls up to his belly, and before he knew it, he'd flipped them on the ground and placed Amber on all fours.

His massive body leaned over her.

Before she could flee, he brought his arm over her waist and anchored her against his chest. His other hand slithered to her neck as his snout came to rest on her throat, running each sharp tooth along her soft skin.

I should kill you, he thought, and yet his other taloned hand had run up her blouse, cupping her breast.

Amber groaned below him, so cute and soft, he felt a massive shift between his legs and he tumbled back, realizing what was happening.

"You're a lycan." Amber carefully spun around to face him.

"You can control it if you calm down and it'll get easier to shift over time."

Henry growled as he watched Amber. Fuck, he hated himself for ever trusting her. He'd lost everything because of her and because of Idris, but beside what they had done, Henry vowed to get it all back.

As much as he wanted to get rid of the woman before him, the thought of hurting her physically made him feel sick...and he also knew that if she had something to do with this, she would be the solution to him going back to normal.

Dammit, he cursed. He felt anger rumble in his chest once more and before he knew it, he had sprinted out the room and burst through the front door. He wasn't sure how fast he was running, but he could hardly see anything as he ran past.

He only followed his instincts, running until he felt cool soil beneath his paws and the silver moon above him bathed everything in his presence.

Henry felt at home, until the smell of roses once more assaulted him.

"You can control it if you calm down." Amber's words rang through him.

With a deep breath, Henry thought about his human body and found that he could feel its presence inside the massive beast.

Return, he willed it and was surprised when his wolf howled in pain, wanting to be free, but Henry needed answers.

Answers only Amber could give and so his wolf caved as his claws retracted back into his body, his snout and fur and sharp teeth disappeared until he stood there naked, breathing hard.

He glanced at his body, still feeling stronger than he ever had.

"You look...good." Amber gulped in front of him.

"Why the hell am I a Lycan?"

Amber smiled a bit and pushed off the tree she was leaning against. "I triggered it." She beamed innocently and threw some clothes in his direction.

"How and why did you do that?" Henry seethed, but nonetheless took the clothes and quickly worked to put them on.

"Well... I figured out that you had werewolf lineage, I fed you vampire blood which awakened your wolf genes and tada!" She smiled from ear to ear, and then pouted upon seeing Henry's lethal glare. "Oh come on, don't be this way. Look at you, you are handsome and powerful and now you'll have no issue denying our bond."

"So that was your true intention." He narrowed his eyes over her and she stopped pacing.

"Are you going to tell me you don't feel it?" She came closer to him. "Because I can feel it. I feel hot, breathy, and just looking at you is driving me mad. I want to touch you. I want to bite you, but more than anything I need you to touch me, to claim me with that delicious body of yours."

Henry closed his eyes feeling the ache of his muscles clench under each word that left her sultry lips. He was terrifyingly close to giving up and he knew if he did he wouldn't just have her, he would destroy her.

His honey colored eyes moved back in her direction, and his body burned, the wolf within him was pawing, howling to jump her and yet he held back. Hating the way he felt for this woman who had ruined his life.

"Do you really think I would have you after what you did to me?" He clenched his jaw.

"The only thing I did was make your life better."

"You really don't see it do you?" He shook his head. "You never even considered if this was what I wanted."

"What? To be a normal human being? I would have loved you as a normal human, but I gave you exactly what you needed and I will never be sorry for that!"

"I was doing just fine!"

"You really wanted to live the rest of your life being powerless, working for a job you hate under a boss you dislike all for what? To have a boring mundane life with a woman who doesn't even love you!"

"You ruined me!"

"I gave you power!" She seethed in front of him and in the next instant she was in his grasp, matching his lethal glare.

With his fist clenched over her arms, he marched over her steps, pushing her back until she was trapped between him and the wall of a tree.

"Listen to me. You are going to tell me how to go back to normal."

"Ha...hahahaha...oh wait– you're being serious? Why the hell would you ever want to go back to being normal?"

When he says nothing, she gets it. "Huh, for her. Still for her!"

"I love her."

"No, you love the idea of her. You built a shelter not a home. That's the problem with you humans, you often blind yourselves to the pain in order to live the life you think you should be living, but you and Alixandria were not meant to be. You two tried to build something out of broken pieces. It was only a matter of time before it came crumbling down."

"That's a lie! We would have been fine had you two never interfered with this stupid pull and bond shit! If your claims of bonds are true, then the second I turned I should have fallen to my knees for you and yet look. at. me!" He demanded with a snarl. "Human or not human, she is the only one for me."

Amber's eye's turned abysmal. His words had clearly struck a chord within her, so much so that even her fangs protruded, as if she were ready to tear out his throat.

"How is it you still don't understand Henry! Lycan or Human, Alixandria will always pick Idris! They are soulmates! They are fated, just as you and I are!"

"And what rules are there saying a person can't have more than one mate? Have you ever considered that I was her human soulmate?" That paused her feral attitude and Henry smirked satisfied. "Let me tell you something...you turned me, and yes, I regret to admit that I feel something for you, but I still feel something for her and for a moment... when I asked her what she felt... I know she still loves me and hey..." his smirk turned into a boastful smile. "Maybe now that I'm also a supernatural, she'll be able to feel our bond even stronger, which I guess I should thank you for."

His hands let go of her arms and stepped away from her, leaving Amber trembling with rage.

"What you feel for her isn't love... It's obsession! It's refusal to let go of something familiar simply because you are scared!"

"What the hell do I have to be scared about?"

"You went from being a normal human man, following a boring path: get a good job, marry the girl, work your life away, have some kids, and try not to blow your brains out...and now," She stepped closer. "Now you've been given a way out. You've been introduced to a new life where you're stronger, powerful...a life where you can do as you choose, and you got a hot sexy mate, but that scares you." She smiled smugly before looking stern again. "Most people like to think that they could handle such a drastic change of life, but the reality is, not everyone takes it so easily." She stood before him. "I know it's scary Henry, but you have me, and I'll help you every step of the way." She took his hand, watching Henry's hard gaze of her.

She waited for him to fall apart. To take a deep breath and finally embrace her, but instead he shook her hand off, speaking to her with the same coldness that frosted his eyes.

"You are without a doubt the most selfish person I have ever met. It never even occurred to you to get to know me enough or to ask me what I wanted in life. Well, let me tell you... I was happy as a human, Amber. Maybe to you, my life was boring, but to me it was just right. The right amount of hard work, struggle, and achievement. I had a good job, a good home, and a good woman beside me. One that I intended to marry and have children with. One that I would gladly work day and night to give a good life...but then you and Idris show up. And then you turn me into a monster, for YOUR own personal gain... YOU change my entire life without so much of a care about how I would feel. I'm not scared...the only one that should be scared here is you... because whether I get Alixandria back or not, I will spend the rest of my days hating you." He shoved past her.

"Henry...wait." She followed after him. "I may have not thought about all this fully, but I don't regret it, because I know in time, you'll see I was right. Alixandria does not deserve you and you will have a much better life... but if you need time to see that then so be it, but know this...No matter how much you hate me, or how far you go, a bond is a bond, and you will only be able to deny it for so long before it starts to hurt."

"Well then I guess this 'powerful' life you gave me will be short lived because I would rather die than accept you."

"Henry—"

"Goodbye, Amber."

"Fuck!" She screamed, watching Henry shift and speed away.
