《CAPTIVATED》Chapter Seventeen

As Alixandria fumbled with the keys in her hands, she could feel her heart accelerate. What would she tell Henry? How would he handle it? The last thing she wanted to do was hurt him, but she knew that's exactly what she would be doing by staying with him any longer.
Idris was right. They owed it to each other to be honest about how they felt.
Yes, Henry had done so much for her. He had shown her a kindness that she had not known before, but Idris's words continued to resonate deep within her, "Was she with him because she loved him or because she owed him?"
She had never quite paused to think about this because she had never had too. Once Henry had whisked her away, she had never stopped to wonder what she wanted with her life. Henry had been loving and kind to her and so she became strung on him, vowing to do anything he said to keep him that way.
Alixandria's mind wandered to those years ago. Her mother's passing had caused a drastic change within her, and if it hadn't been for Henry, Alixandria wasn't sure where she would be right now, but she had a feeling she'd be miserable.
She never thought about it, but a part of her wondered what would have happened if her mother had never passed, or if she had had a family to be sent to. Would she still have ended up with Henry?
Though it was years ago, Alixandria recalled clearly how they had never journeyed past the boundary of their friendship... not until Alixandria began spending more time with Henry in order to avoid her father.
Henry would sneak her into his room until his parents found out, but they sympathized and only asked they be respectful. Alixandria had thought it comical then. Until the night she showed up crying and Henry held her close, wrapped her tightly against him and before she knew it, they had begun kissing.

It was the first time they had ever kissed...
Alixandria was overcome with guilt. That had been so long ago and so much had happened since then. Henry had been kind and sweet with her from the start and she couldn't help but feel like she had betrayed him.
Idris had just come into her life and made her question everything she thought she wanted, and in her selfishness and need she had never stopped to think about what Henry wanted or how this would affect him.
Alixandria sighed as she realized that reality was much messier than they make it seem in stories. In stories, everything is always clear or has a path, but there was no clear path here for Alixandria.
Henry was not a villain, Idris was a good guy, and she... she debated what she was now. But what she was sure of was that she was guilty, because at the moment she felt love for both of the men in her lives. With Henry, she had felt safe, but with Idris she had felt free.
Perhaps the situation would have been different if Idris had been a normal human man. Then, she thought, she could have simply ignored him, but every time she was near him, it was undeniable that there was a bond between them. Perhaps not one built with time, like normal humans, but one that drew them magically together.
More than once now Alixandria had witnessed just how tightly the bond worked to pull them together. How heated her body felt from Idris's touch as if they were made just for each other and how Idris seemed so in tune with her body he could control her panic.
Yet beside there being a literal force telling them they should be together in every way, she knew deep down that this was not something Henry would understand
She was certain she was going to break Henry's heart, but she hoped that perhaps he was also ready to move on. She had seen him with a woman tonight.
Why are things so complicated? She looked up towards the sky.
Alixandria finally opened the door to their apartment, half expecting Henry to be sitting there waiting for her, but instead, she heard something so unexpected her heart dropped.
