••••••••••••••••••••
Weeks turned into months as the search to repair (Y/n)'s memories became futile. Louis and the others were trying their best to help her remember, but nothing they did worked. While she couldn't figure out who she was trying to remember, she had no doubt about her past with Louis. She asked him to tell her stories of their time together before the Great Collapse, which he happily obliged. He told her all that they did together even after learning it wouldn't help her regain her memories.
It would always bring a smile to Louis' face as he reminisced in the memories. For some odd reason, his memories of (Y/n) are vivid, but everything else, including many memories of his sister, were no longer a part of him. When he woke up after being revived as a revenant, he only remembered his name and (Y/n)'s.
It took him a while to remember his own sister, Karen, but it took only mere seconds for him to remember his childhood friend. He wasn't sure why, but he wasn't complaining. It was nice to have memories of her when he woke up in such a distraught state after being slaughtered by one of his classmates, Cruz. He wondered if his strong feelings toward (Y/n) were the reason his memories of her remained intact or if he was one of the lucky revenants to keep at least a slither of his memory.
One day while Louis was out in search of a blood spring, he came across another revenant who went by the name Echo. After defeating a fellow revenant who frenzied and seeing her purify the vestige left behind, he immediately thought of (Y/n) after traveling through the memories of the revenant. He took her and her companion, Io, back to the church where everyone else was waiting.
When they arrived back at home base, Louis shared what all happened with the others. Looking toward (Y/n), he saw a familiar gleam of hope in her eyes. She stepped forward, meeting his crimson gaze with her (e/c) one. "Is there a possibility I could regain my memory?"
"There is, but we would have to find a vestige belonging to you," Louis explains.
The girl's hope dwindled, her once gleaming eyes becoming dull. "I see..."
Seeing the smile on her face vanish, Louis placed a hand on her shoulder. "We will find one and return your memories."
(Y/n) wanted to believe him, but she couldn't knowing how minuscule the chances of finding a vestige belonging to her was. "The chances of discovering a vestige belonging to me is slim to none. Maybe my request is too much..."

"Don't give up just yet," he retorts. "For now, we need to search for blood springs. Will you accompany us, (Y/n)?"
"It will do me good to get out. It's been a while and a change of scenery would clear my head. Let me grab my weapon and we'll depart." She shuffles over to Murasama, who'd been modifying her bayonet rifle. She thanked the small girl after retrieving her Black Bayonet and regrouped with Louis, Yakumo, and Echo at the entrance of the church. They departed from home base with their purifier masks and headed to the ruined city center in hopes to discover blood springs and their potential source.
On the way, (Y/n) asked Echo a few questions in an attempt to get to know her. The golden-eyed girl answered all her questions, which livened their trek through the ruins as they fought the Lost that tried to sneak up on them from behind piles of debris.
Reaching the parking garage, the group was attacked by a stone-crusher. Louis, Yakumo, and Echo dashed forward with their weapons raised. (Y/n) kept her distance, firing her bayonet and using gifts to assist the others. The large enemy swung its hammer around in a sweeping motion, forcing everyone to dodge.
(Y/n) saw the stone-crusher stagger after its attack and charged forward. The blade attached at the tip of her rifle glinted in the sun as she closed the distance between her and the Lost. With all her strength, she plunged the sharp blade into its chest and pulled the trigger. A gunshot echoed throughout the parking garage as the stone-crusher cried out before its body turned to ash, its heart being obliterated from the girl's attack.
Lowering her weapon, (Y/n) shook the blood off the bayonet. She turned toward the others, smiling innocently. "Shall we continue forward?"
Yakumo smacked Louis on the back with a smirk. "She's a keeper."
Underneath his mask, the corners of Louis' mouth quirked upward in a faint smile. He gazed at (Y/n), who returned to chatting with Echo. "She survived for months by herself. Bringing her along has already proven to be beneficial."
"That's your response?" Yakumo sighs, shaking his head. "How boring..."
"What do you mean?" Louis inquired, eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"You reunite with your childhood friend after all this time and that's what you have to say?" The redhead scoffed. "I feel kinda bad for (Y/n) now. All that staring you do..."
"Am I still-?" Louis went to ask but was interrupted by an excited (Y/n).
"Louis, we found one!" The girl announced excitedly.
Louis and Yakumo rendezvoused with their female companions. They could hear voices emitting from the vestige, which was hidden in a box not too far from where they fought the stone-crusher. (Y/n) stared down at the pulsating fragment of her memory, listening to the voices. She recognized hers and Louis', but there was another man's voice she couldn't identify.

Echo glanced at the vestige before looking up at (Y/n). When she received permission from the (e/c)-eyed girl, she picked it up and purified it. (Y/n) placed her hand on Echo's arm to join her on her adventure through her memories.
At the last second, Louis held (Y/n)'s hand and tagged along for the ride. He felt the same tug on his body when Echo purged the vestige they discovered after defeating the newly turned Lost earlier that day. Eventually, the three were pulled into the memories of (Y/n).
Looking around, (Y/n) admired the beautiful scenery of the trees around them. She wasn't sure where they were, but her head snapped in the direction of a pond when she heard two voices. It was her and Louis. Listening to their conversation, she realized it was the day after she and Louis learned they were accepted into the university. They were both happy to know their paths still aligned and they wouldn't have to say farewell to each other just yet.
The next memory was a short summary of her days in the university before the Great Collapse. She was alone, inside the library studying. Even though she was trying to read the book in front of her, all she could think about was Louis. She hadn't seen him in weeks and couldn't hide her sorrow.
Moving on to the third memory, it was after the Great Collapse. (Y/n) miraculously survived the frenzy of the Queen, still being human. She was hiding from the Lost that roamed the streets. Her search for a shelter was interrupted when a group of revenants stumbled upon her hiding in one of the buildings. Unable to fight against them, she was taken back to their safe house and used as a source of blood.
The final memory was the worst. (Y/n) could feel her heart racing as she relived the memory of her death. A couple weeks after she was captured, one of the revenants became greedy and visited the room they imprisoned her in. He overpowered her, pinned her to the ground, and sunk his fangs into her neck. She struggled against him, trying to kick him and scratch at his face. Crying out in pain, she could feel her body growing weaker as the revenant drained the blood from her body. Her heartbeat was decreasing as her skin was losing its color. Unable to lift a muscle, her arms fell limply to her sides. She felt her entire body shutting down, her eyes slowly closing as she accepted her fate.
When (Y/n), Echo, and Louis emerged from the memories, they were all silent. Yakumo, being the only one who hadn't seen the memories, glanced around at his companions. Seeing the petrified expression on their faces, he decided to remain silent.
Unconsciously, (Y/n) reaches up to touch the side of her neck. Her fingers traced over the scar left behind from the revenant's fang. She tried to think of something to say, but only a tear cascaded down her cheek as the fog in her mind was lifted. While her memories were restored, the only question that crossed her mind was-how did she become a revenant?
After a suffocating silence, (Y/n) managed to form a single word. "Well..." She looked away from the others, clearing the lump that was lodged in her throat. "At least my memories are back..."
Yakumo wanted to ask out of curiosity, but he knew now wasn't the time by their grave expressions. "We've got one thing checked off our list. Let's find those blood springs and their source."
(Y/n) nodded in agreement. "Yes. We also shouldn't linger around for too long. Who knows when more Lost will show up." Yakumo and Echo slung their weapons over their shoulders, walking back the way they came to search for an alternate route. The (h/c)-haired girl grasped her bayonet rifle tightly, lookin out in the distance before deciding to follow the others. When she noticed Louis wasn't tagging along, she turned toward him with a puzzled expression. "Louis, are you all right?"
Louis lifted his head, gripping his sword tightly. His back was facing (Y/n) and she was unable to read his expression. When he felt a hand on his arm, he looked over at her. Emotions in turmoil, he stabbed the tip of his blade into the asphalt below and promptly wrapped his arms around her smaller frame. He pressed his cheek into her hair, inhaling her scent. It calmed him and cleared his mind, allowing him to finally express his feelings after viewing her memories. "I'm sorry, (Y/n). I should've been there. If had been, you could've kept your humanity. Seeing and hearing you in such pain... I should've searched harder for you."
The tenseness in (Y/n)'s shoulder vanished. Her hands crept up his back once dropping her bayonet rifle, coming to a stop just below his shoulder blades. "You don't need to apologize. I'm glad I was able to have my memories returned to me even if some of them aren't very pleasant. Now I know for certain you were the one I was trying to desperately remember. I feel...whole. It's a strange feeling, but a good one. Regardless of the circumstances behind my death, we've been reunited. Even though the world around us is crumbling, I couldn't have asked for a better miracle. We're together again. That's all that matters."
"Yeah," Louis said, smiling underneath his mask. "You're right. I'll make sure to protect you this time. It's a promise."

It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
