"It's difficult to hope when all you can see is darkness. It's difficult to try when there is no one to cheer you up. I.....I can't do this anymore Kook. Please come back to me. Please take me in your arms and protect me from this world Kook. Ple......Please."
"I'm sorry I was late." Jungkook whispered listening to the voice message for the nth time. He was in his room again but without Taehyung this time. The funeral had ended and all the guests had already left.
He could still see the way Taehyung appeared during the ceremony. Even in the coffin his husband looked like an angel. Dressed in a white shirt and pant. The same one he wore on his wedding day. A flower crown had been placed on his head to give him the respect he deserved. At the end he was buried under a cherry blossom tree. In a place that was dear to both Jungkook and him.
Jungkook sighed looking at the crib where his baby was sleeping now after crying for an hour straight. "The baby must be missing his Appa." One of the guests had pointed out at the funeral. Jungkook had to gulp down his tears after hearing those words. His innocent son did not get to stay with his Appa for even a month. Taehyung did not get to cherish the blissful moments of parenthood. Heck! His lover did not even experience the love he deserved. All these realisations broke Jungkook's heart into tinier pieces.
He slowly got up from the bed and walked towards the crib. With utmost care he took Haneul in his arms and went back to his original position. The sudden soothing night air took his attention and guided him to glance towards the window. And there he saw him. Sitting on the window seating in all his glory. He was looking right at them with tears in his eyes.

"Are you real?" Jungkook whispered. Taehyung shook his in a no. Ofcourse he was not real. He was just a work of Jungkook's desperation. An image to give him some comfort and he was was going to take every ounce of it. "Do.....do you hate me Tae?" He asked hugging the baby closer to his chest.
Taehyung shook his head again. He could never hate him. "Then why d....did you l....leave us? Why love?" He cried and Taehyung cried with him. "Please come back." The ravenette kept crying in pain. He had lost his most priced possession today. He cried and cried with no one to comfort him. Slowly his eyes closed off and he slept in a not so peaceful sleep holding onto the little boy for dear life.
It was sad to see how a special day had turned into a nightmare in just a few seconds. Christmas for them would never be the same ever again.
Hyunsik was sitting in the parlour waiting for Jungkook to come downstairs. He had come to the Jeon mansion early the next morning because he had something very important to tell them. Something that had shaken him to the core.
"Mr. Jeon." He stood up and greeted Jungkook who was coming down the stairs. "I'm sorry for the delay. I was feeding Haneul." Jungkook said but his voice lacked emotions. His heartbroken state was clearly visible to everyone around him.
The ravenette gestured Hyunsik to take a seat and sat opposite to him as well. All the family members were present there too. Including Ji-ung who had been called the day before for the funeral. "I want you all to be calm while I tell you this." The doctor started.
"When I checked on Taehyung yesterday he was already dead but something didn't feel right to me. His pupils were too dilated. So before going out of the room I had sneaked out the glass of water kept on one of the side tables. I really wanted my gut feeling to be a lie but it's not. The glass of water had traces of a drug that puts the heart's electrical system into a deadly overdrive. His heart was already weak and this was the reason why he suffered from a cardiac arrest. It was not natural Mr. Jeon. Your husband's death was not natural."

These words sucked out all the air from the ravenette's lungs. This was too much. Why was fate playing such cruel games with him? "There must be some mis...." But before he could say more Hyunsik cut him off.
"No Mr. Jeon. This is not a misunderstanding. I've thoroughly checked everything. The drug is very much present in that glass of water. You can come to the lab with me if you want to confirm it." The confidence in his voice was enough proof for everyone.
This revelation made Jungkook's mind a mess. Did he take his own life? Was it a suicide? No! It can't be. He would never leave us alone. He would never. These thoughts were enough to make him insane but he kept himself together. He had faith that Taehyung would never do that to him. He took a deep breath to calm himself down and then a sudden realisation hit him.
"The baby monitor." He shouted getting up from his seat. Jungkook ran towards his room skipping two stairs with every step. Entering inside he glanced towards the camera and microphone that were attached to one of the walls. It was something Taehyung had installed to keep an eye on Haneul from other places.
The ravenette ran towards a cabinet and took out a laptop from inside it. He opened an app that automatically stored all the recordings from the baby monitor everyday. Scrolling through the screen he searched for the recording from the day before Christmas.
Others had entered inside the room as well. They all stood behind Jungkook waiting for him to play the video. Taking in a deep breath the ravenette clicked on the play button. With each passing second the truth was revealed. Everyone forgot to breathe. Jungkook fell down on his knees. He stared at the screen with wide eyes. Tears already staining his cheeks.
His Taehyung did not die. He was murdered.
