《The Retribution Contract》8.

The sky was crying and so was the ravenette's heart. He hated his husband right? Then why was his heart aching at the thought of Taehyung being unwell? Why was he so scared when he saw the boy faint? That was because somethings never change. Somethings like his love for the boy.
Even he knew it but thought that denying his feelings would be better. He didn't want to hate his own self for loving someone who destroyed him and his loved ones. But everyone does that right? At the end of the day you have to live with yourself so doing things that would make you hate your own selves would just be stupid. That's what he believed and practiced.
Suddenly amidst these thoughts he heard the door opening. He turned around to see the doctor coming out of his room after checking up Taehyung. The doctor smiled politely looking at the ravenette's worried face.
"Don't worry Mr. Jeon. Your husband is fine now. I've given him the medicine so he'll be better after a few hours. There's just one thing that's been bugging me." "W....What thing?" Jungkook asked panicking even more. "His body is physically weak. I'll have to conduct some tests on him to know the reason but for now make sure that he doesn't overwork himself. It's not good for his health." the doctor informed and bowed once before taking his leave.
Jungkook immediately walked inside his room only to find Taehyung sleeping peacefully. The boy was hooked to an IV and his cut had been bandaged up. He took a seat beside the bed and kept on staring at his beautiful husband. Despite being ill Taehyung managed to look as ethereal as ever. Jungkook so badly wanted to touch the other's soft cheeks. He so badly wanted to kiss those rosy lips. But he held himself back. He couldn't afford to harbour those feelings again. He just couldn't.

The ravenette sat there for a few hours and then left to get himself changed. He came out of the bathroom a few minutes later only to find Taehyung sitting up and looking at him with his beautiful eyes. The two boys kept on looking into each other's eyes not saying a word. It was as if they were in a trance.
The two remained in the same position for god knows how long. Jungkook was the first one to break their mini staring contest as he walked towards the closet to take out his night wear. "Don't do any household work from tomorrow. I don't have time and resources to waste on you. I can't keep on calling the doctors just because your weak self can't do even the smallest of work." Jungkook said coldly while his back was still facing the sick boy.
"It's okay. I'll do the wo.... " "Don't push my limits. Just do whatever you're being told to do." Jungkook cut him off and growled a little trying to make his point clear. Taehyung didn't say a word after that. He didn't want to ruin Jungkook's mood by saying something stupid.
"K..Kook? What happened?" he asked softly finally breaking the suffocating silence. "You fainted. You had a high fever but the doctor checked you up so there's no need to worry anymore." Jungkook informed in a nonchalant voice. He was behaving as if he didn't care about it at all. He acted as if he was not the one who had been so panicked a few hours ago.
"Thank you for taking care of me." The boy said timidly. "There's no need. I need you alive to have my revenge. Can't work on the plan if you're dead. Right?" Jungkook said and then walked to the other side of the bed. He settled down and started scrolling through his smartphone. Taehyung gulped hearing the ravenette and looked down at his lap. He was out of words. What was he supposed to say to his husband now? He remembers how they used to talk the entire night years ago. It was as if they had countless words to tell each other. But fate had now brought them to a point where it was difficult to even maintain eye contact with the other.

Both of them just sat there silently. The tension in the air was thick. It was suffocating Taehyung and he just wanted to cry out loudly now. "Kook. Can I please cuddle with you? I don't feel well. I promise that it'll be just for today." he said. His voice was barely above a whisper. He sounded so weak and vulnerable. Hearing him Jungkook just looked his way once and then laid down.
"Just for today." he spat out coldly and saw Taehyung look at him with a surprised face. Obviously Taehyung was not expecting this answer from the ravenette. Realising the situation and seeing the open arms of his husband, Taehyung smiled widly and snuggled right into the other's chest. Soon an arm snaked around his waist while the other arm was under his head.
Taehyung was now in heaven. The familiar warmth was so inviting. If he was dreaming right now then he didn't want to ever come out of his dream. His eyes watered at the overwhelming feelings bubbling inside his heart. Jungkook might spat hateful words at him every now and then but the way he was holding him now said his feelings out loud. Taehyung knew that he still loved him. He just knew it now.
"I missed you so much Kook. I missed you s...so much. These two years were hell for me. I know that whatever I did to you is not acceptable but I'm still sorry. I'm so sorry for everything." he whispered while his hold on the ravenette just consolidated with each word. Jungkook though didn't say a word. He just laid there listening to his husband's ranting and sniffles. After what seemed like an eternity he took a deep breath and said.
"We could have been like this if you hadn't betrayed us. You ruined us Taehyung. You ruined US."

Re: Dragonize
After an unexpected turn of events, Drew must now survive in a world full of challenges with life-or-death stakes. Gone are the days when the biggest problems to face were awkward small-talk at physics department luncheons or mountains of lab work; this former physicist is now adrift in an unfamiliar land without any equipment. Now, Drew's only tool (if it can be called that) is a System, which provides constant reminders of all of the things that are still out of reach for a low-level being who's just arrived in a new world. Luckily, Drew has one powerful asset when taking on the challenges of this new world: surviving violent conflict is a lot easier when you have the power of a dragon at your disposal. Still, Drew has always considered violence a last resort. Why turn to fists (or claws) when a bit of quiet consideration might expose a better path forward? Maybe a life of quiet contemplation is still within reach for this former academic researcher. ...Or maybe not. It probably won't be a life of bloodless pacifism. Additional information for those who wish to calibrate their expectations (I'm adding this based on a few comments I received from readers who feel that the story is not what they expected from a dragon-themed story): Re: Dragonize is not a power fantasy -- or at least, it's not intended to be one. Re: Dragonize is a progression fantasy starting with a protagonist who must start at the bottom (or close to it), and work gradually upwards, making incremental progress with plenty of setbacks along the way. The protagonist, as someone coming from the world of academia, tends to be cautious, methodical, and contemplative. As such, expect this story to contain more than a few digressions as the main character takes the time to pontificate on a variety of topics ranging from Newtonian physics and horology to the nature of existence and the ethical dilemmas associated with being an obligate carnivore.
