it was only a few seconds later when bill slammed the door in stan's face, leaving him in utter confusion, and making him bite his lip until he felt it go numb. he felt guilty for something, but he wasn't sure why, he had done nothing wrong. so instead of leaving, he silently, slowly, opened the bedroom door to find bill sitting on his floor, looking more vulnerable and scared than ever. he could see multiple tissues in his view, along with lots of paper with scribbled pen, looking like bill couldn't get the right words out. sometimes all you had to do was speak.
"hey bill..." stan started, but didn't know exactly where he was going with the conversation yet. bill didn't seem as if he had heard him as stan sat down moments later next to him, but soon enough he was handed a piece of scrap paper. stan looked up from the carpet to bill, and really saw him for who he was for the first time.
he was broken with his red, puffy eyes, his untouched hair, his shorts from two nights ago still worn and his shirt thrown on his messy bed in his messy room. his skin was so pale and stan could tell he had hardly eaten, but he really didn't understand why he was so hurt and upset. it was his choice to tell him overall, but stan knew he could never understand the pain bill had went through. he had his fair share of fights with his father, but he had his father.
stan looked down at the paper, and eyed the chaotic handwriting. 'i have never told anyone about what happened the night my dad was killed, except my mother, and she has her own opinions about it. and i'm sorry to put you in this position, i guess i just couldn't keep it to myself any longer. but the fact of the matter is, you are important to me, and i hope knowing all this about me wouldn't change your perspective on me too much.'

stan looked up at bill, squinting his eyes at him, trying to figure him out before he spoke. bill looked nervous, and awkward. "bill, you didn't kill your father. and i know if you didn't go to the bathroom and you were by the door, your father would have gone into the line of fire for you anyways, because he loved you. your mother is wrong to think otherwise. and i think no less of you. oh, and you are very important to me too." stan finished, and seeing bill smile back at him on the verge of tears made him feel all warm inside. maybe that's all bill needed to hear. that it wasn't his fault.
stan could georgie slowly sneak into the room seconds later, obviously trying to stay hidden and eavesdrop on the two boys, but he didn't stay undercover for long.
"hey georgie." stan scuffed, and waved him over, and georgie stepped over the tissues and paper to get over to them, with two peanut butter cookies in his hand.
"i got you guys cookies." georgie smiled, and bill grinned and sniffled, before taking one, and nodding as if to say thank you and sorry at the same time, something the other boys seemed to understand.
"thanks bud," stan answered, grabbing the other one and smiled. "why aren't you at school today by the way?" stan asked, but georgie didn't reply and looked at bill doing sign language.
"bill says that i didn't go to school because my mom is out of town and he didn't want to miss the bus or something to happen at school when nobody can get there." georgie answered smoothly, and stan was impressed that he knew sign language so well, he truly was the best little brother to bill.

"well, it's only 8:47 in the morning, do you guys wanna ride to school?"
right as the words came out of his mouth, both of the older boys phone's buzzed, and stan was on his feet within seconds. "ok, no choice, we are leaving in t-10 minutes."
