I walked towards the open window, feeling the nights cold breeze whoosh past me as I leapt off the windowsill. The ground was approaching fast, shooting my webs at one of the streetlights in the last second. Spinning out of control because I only had one really good had to use, I tried to graciously land on the side of the office building. Shaking my head to try and rid the sound of my heart drumming loudly in my ears, I figured I'd just have to run from rooftop to rooftop.
A swarm of pigeons flew off the roof I just landed on, cawing and flapping their wings as they flew away. Pushing my feet off the next ledge I twirled through the air, my stiff muscles and joints becoming more easy to freely move. The lights shining off the building shimmered off my eye lenses as I landed on top of the small emergency water tower on the roof of the lab. I had to be cautious because I knew Fury and Agent Hill might still be inside.
Jumping off the metal water tower, I opened the vent entrance near the door on the roof as my form of cover. The vent groaned and squeaked once I climbed in, silencing itself the farther I climbed in. It was quiet from what I could tell, not hearing the deep commanding voice of Fury inside.
"FRIDAY active heat signature lenses." I whispered.
My eye lenses became enhanced in different colored LED lights, the heat signature changing if something was hot or cold. I couldn't pick up any heat signature on Hill it Fury, describing the effect. Dropping down onto the floor, I rolled my shoulder back before jogging towards the computers.
Typing in my log in information I tried to hack into a zipped folder. A red error messages kept popping up loudly, making me growl in frustration.
"FRIDAY override defenses."
"One moment."
The blinding red error message turned green with in mere seconds as the folder became open to me. I took off my mask and connected it to the high tech computer, transferring days files and documents to my hard drive.
My spider senses went off as I heard the lab door click open. Quickly I turned off the computer, leaping up on the ceiling just in time for Otto to walk through the door with a bag of Chinese takeout in hand. Slowly I crawled towards the open vent, making it inside just in time for the com on my mask to start ringing, an incoming call from Otto coming through.

"Y/n! Forgot what I said earlier, I think we can really do this project! Come down to the lab tonight and I'll show you." He said excitedly.
"I'm sorry doc, I promised May I'd have dinner with her. I can come to the lab bright and early tomorrow." I said as quietly as I could so he wouldn't hear me.
"Yes that's fine!" The scientist laughed gleefully, "Are you alright? You sound sick."
"I'm fine, just a little cold is all." I coughed, pushing open the entrance to the vent.
"Well get some rest and I'll see you tomorrow! Greatness awaits us y/n!" Otto said victoriously before ending the call. I dropped out of the vent and landed on the gravel littering the flat roof. Lifting my arms above my head I began to stretch my aching limbs as I yawned.
"I should have known you'd be here." A raspy voice husked from behind me.
"Natasha!" I turned around in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
"Fury found out you escaped and sent me." She shrugged.
"He had no intention of coming here." The realization dawned on me, "He was going to send you the entire time. You followed me!"
The woman held her hands up in defense, walking forwards so the light on the side of the building lit up half her face.
"Did you get what you needed?" She asked.
I nodded.
"Good. Let's go lay low in a safe house for a little while. I've got something I need to show you too." Her cinnamon Apple scent wafted under my nose as she walked past me and towards a ladder on the side of the building.
I followed after her, skipping the ladder all together and just jumping into the alley way below. There I noticed a sleak Bentley car parked in the darkness, becoming invisible.
"Get in."
[...]
The car ride was silent, the only noise coming from the ac as it hummed and blew some warm air us. The streetlights and citizens blurred past me as we pulled onto the familiar street. I felt my body tense and become heavy, a swirling sickness setting in as the vile emotion of regret bubbled in my stomach.
The car engine cut off with a rumble as we both got out of the parked car, heading towards the back entrance of the familiar brick apartment. The elevator ride was silent and a little longer than my liking.
"You brought me here. Are you trying to hurt me!?" The regret and electric emotions bubbled up my throat as I spat them at her.

"Don't do that. Don't play the victim." Her green eyes narrowed as she shook her head at me, shoving the silver key into the lock.
"Of all places you brought me here! I'd rather get my ass chewed out by Fury!" I seethed, following in after her.
Natasha held the door behind us, whipping around and shoving her finger into my chest. "Then leave if you don't want to be here so bad! There's the door! You broke us up! I tried to save us and put together the pieces, but you just kept ruining it!"
I scoffed, putting up my witty and sarcastic mask to hide my emotions, "I don't have time for this. I have to find my brother." My shoulder bumped into hers as I walked past her.
"Go ahead! Run from your problems and shove yourself so far up your works ass, you forget that people care about you!" Her words were like sharp knives digging into my back.
I turned on my heel, my face heating up in rage, "I don't run from my problems."
"Then what are you doing right now?" Her tone calmed down a few octaves, arms crossed over her chest. "You're such a terrible liar."
My chest heaved up and down as the angry began to subside and my vision wasn't a heated red anymore.
"You're scared of something and I just want to know what." She said softly this time, almost in a pleading way.
My shoulders fully slumped over, the weight from the emotional baggage I was carrying to finally break my spine.
"I'm scared of losing you." I admitted.
"It's a little late for that." Her words were bitter, like they left a bad aftertaste in her mouth.
"I know I pushed you away and buried myself in my work. I'm sorry." I said distantly, eyes glazing over with past memories I tried so hard to bury in my brain. "But I'm a monster, Natasha."
I heard her swallow back her saliva, walking over to shut the front door before sitting on the sofa agains the wall.
"I've killed because I was trained to. Tortured and made to do things against my will. Blood and death were all I knew. I only knew how to old a blade and get what I wanted, nothing more. I-" her words died out on her tongue, looking up her green eyes were zoned out on the spot past my shoulder, tears falling freely down her face. Natasha was never one to cry or show emotion, only a few people she was comfortable with would see her so vulnerable.
"They made sure I wouldn't be able to have kids. They took away my choices and made my do their bidding."
This was the first time I was hearing this story she kept buried deep inside her. My brain was processing the information as I slumped on the far end of the couch.
"So you still think you're the only monster on the team?" She craned her neck, shiny red locks falling over the side of her face, strands sticking to some of her tear tracks.
"I had a girlfriend named Gwen Stacy. We were off and on after senior year and into the first year of collage. Eventually we called it quits for good, both of us deciding to go on separate paths." I spoke in a mere whisper, "I couldn't accept that I told her I'd follow her to England."
A watery chuckled escaped my lips as how happy her eyes shined when I told her that, "Moments after we rekindled our relationship, the city's power went out. Electro shut down the grid to get my attention."
I wiped the salty tears with the back of my hand, leaning forward on the couch, "That was my first encounter with Electro. He was working for my other best friend Harry Osborn. They teamed up and eventually... Gwen s-She-"
I sucked in a breath as my lip trembled, "I wasn't fast enough... she, her head it- and"
"Ssh." Natasha cooed, bringing my into her chest.
"I lost Harry that day too. I should have told you I'm so so sorry." I sobbed into her chest, her nails scratching down my back.
"It's okay. I didn't tell you mine."
Nat let me soak her shirt with my salty tears, leaving large wet spots in the black fabric.
"Hey Natasha?" I broke the silence that fell upon us like a blanket.
"Yeah?"
"Can I lay her for a little longer? I forgot what human touch felt like." I traced patterns on her forearm.
"Yeah," her voice cracked, "you can do that."
"What did you have to show me?" I yawned.
I felt her body move slightly, "that can wait for tomorrow. Rest, прекрасный."
