"A masked person destroys city bank. And no I'm not talking about Herman Shultz, the villain who is known for his criminal record. I'm talking about Spider-Woman! And let's not forget Black Widow, a dangerous spy from the Avengers was there too! Spider-Woman doesn't care about the city! The city is just her playground! She couldn't have waited till Shocker was OUTSIDE to do any damage? She probably would have slammed into a few cars. Spider-Woman doesn't care about us or this city! Let the police officers do their JOB!"
I scoffed once Jameson's broadcast ended, reaching over to turn off my radio that was on my nightstand near my unmade bed. No matter what I did for this city, somehow Jameson found a way to make me look like the bad guy. He did that with Peter too. It was like I couldn't win. I pinched the bridge of my nose when my head began pounding against my skull. Why couldn't this Tylenol just kick in already?
"You know you shouldn't listen to those broadcasts. It's a bunch of bullshit if you ask me." Peter came strolling into my room.
"He has a point though." I sighed.
"Don't let him get into your head, y/n. You have to go with the cards you were dealt. Yeah you destroyed a bank, but nobody got hurt." Peter sat down on the end of my bed.
"I destroyed a bank, Peter. People are jobless because of me right now." I slowly sat up on my bed, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in my skull.
"But nobody's dead." Peter emphasized before standing up and heading towards my door.
"What are you doing in here anyway?" I asked, effectively changing the subject.
"Natasha said you had a concussion so I'm bringing boxes of your stuff in your room for you. And plus I wanted to check up on you and see if you needed anything." Peter scratched the back of his neck.
I shook my head no, thanking my brother for being so kind and moving the few boxes into my room. I stared at the boxes in the corner of my room that were just lingering there, cardboard still soggy from the rain drops that had soaked in. Swallowing the small lump in my throat I laid back down on my bed.

"So I was thinking, tomorrow you can take some pics of me in my suit and you in yours if you want. Plus some pictures around the city. I know Jameson is on your ass trying to get a new article out." My brother said, plopping down on my bed once more.
I shrugged, "Sounds fun. I miss hanging out with you like old times."
"I miss hanging with you too. We can go when I get out of school tomorrow." Peter kissed my cheek before leaving to go to Aunt Mays for the night.

"I think it's best for you to start looking for a different job, y/n." Otto sighed, putting a cardboard box on one the messy tables.
"We can find somewhere else to build our prosthetics-" I pressed.
"Y/n, Oscorp pulled our funding. We have no lab or no money. Osborn says I'm unsafe and unpredictable." The scientist sighed sadly, "I think it'd be best if you went and worked with him."
"I'm not going to go work with Oscorp. Your work here can help millions! We'll find a place, Otto." I patted his shoulder.
"I appreciate the optimism kid, but agh! I don't know." Otto shook his head sadly. "I think you should go. I can finish packing up."
I opened my mouth to say something but decided against it when Doc Oc threw one of his coffee mugs at the wall. With a heavy sigh I made my way towards the door and used my key card to open it.
[...]
"What's got you down?" Peters girlfriend MJ asked me, nudging my shoulder as we waited for Peter to come out.
"I think I lost my job, and Jameson is on my ass about pictures." I told the light skin girl.
"Do you really need a job? I mean Peter says you live in the Avengers tower and doesn't Stark pay for that?" MJ whispered casually.
"I mean, no I don't really need a job but I'm only staying in the tower till this is all done. Then Nat and I will be together and go back to her apartment." I ran my hand through my messy hair.
"Look, I know you want your super hot ex girlfriend back, but maybe focus on yourself for a little bit. I mean you both miss each other but I think there's a reason you were so neck deep in your work all the time. I think you did that because there's something you're not telling her." MJ poked my cheek and I slapped her hand away.

I scoffed, feeling uneasy at how well this girl seemed to read me, "Like what?"
"Do you have a child?" She asked.
"Nope."
"Daddy issues?"
"Don't we all?" I chuckled bitterly.
The curly haired high schooler shrugged, "You're right. Uh, do you have a disease?"
"If you count being bitten by a radioactive spider a disease." I joked.
"What about... commitment issues?"
"I'm trying to get her back, I think that goes against that." I playfully rolled my eyes.
"Okay okay, last one. Do you bury yourself in your work because you're afraid to talk about your feelings?"
I went silent, my jaw clenching ever so slightly.
"Ah ha! I kn-"
"Guys I'm here! Sorry for taking so long. Hey MJ." Peter pecked his girlfriends cheek, and I sighed in relief because MJ wasn't focused on me anymore. Ned appeared a few seconds later trying to zip up his backpack.
"You ready to take some pictures?" Peter turned around and asked me with a smile.
I nodded my head and stood up from the cement stairs in front of the school, other students walking past me.
[...]
"You look so cool y/n!" Ned fanboyed as we looked at the picture Peter took of me. It was a really nice portrait if I'm being honest.
"You did a nice job, Pete." I smiled at my brother, hoping JJJ will give me some good money for this picture.
"Thank you! I really like mine. That's so going to be my wallpaper." Peter replied, smiling at his photo.
"I'm really loving the new suit, bro." Ned gasped in awe.
"Y/n and I made some upgrades." My brother shrugged.
"Don't you think it's kind of, I don't know, stupid! I mean you're taking pictures of yourselves to take to the one guy who hates you both more than anything, for him to use to make up some story that's not even true." MJ ranted.
"Whatever pays the bills I guess." I shrugged causing the high schooler to groan loudly.
[...]
"I'll give you fifty bucks." Jameson said puffing on his cigar.
"Fifty bucks? I had to climb a building for these pictures!" I scoffed. "Give me three hundred."
"Three hundred!? That's ridiculous! But done. Give the check to Betty out front." Jameson scribbled down on the check before ripping it off and handing it to me.
[...]
"How are you feeling?" Nat asked standing in my doorway. I turned down the soft music that was coming from my phone before turning my head to look at her. My breath hitched in my throat when I saw that she was wearing a black tank top, drying her red hair with a towel.
"Like a cement truck hit my head." I chuckled.
"I brought you some Tylenol." Nat came farther into my room and set the white pills on my nightstand.
"Thank you." I replied softly.
"I think we might have gotten a reading on one of the villains that escaped Rikers." The redhead said.
"Where?" I sat up abruptly.
"About a mile or so outside of town. We got some reports of some sort of creature crawling across the bridge."
"Then what are we waiting for?" I sat up and began talking off my shirt, throwing it somewhere in my room as I began pulling my pants off too.
"Uhh... I-I, I'm going to go wait outside." Natasha cleared her throat and I turned around just in time to see a rosy red blush covering her cheeks.
I chuckled to myself, my ego inflating because I knew I still had an affect on her.
"Hey y/n- WOAH! MY EYES!" Peter squealed before I heard a smack. Once I finished getting my suit on, holding the mask in one hand, I helped my little brother off the floor.
"Where are we going?" He asked.
"We got reports of a creature crawling across one of the bridges. Fury thinks it was one of the escapes from Rikers." I slipped the mask over my head.
"Yes! Spider siblings back at it again!" Parker flailed his fists in the air.
"You can come as long as you never say that again." I deadpanned, running over to my window and jumping out of it.
Here we go again New York.

Stairway to Heaven
Humans are complicated, awfully fragile beings, far too weak to survive amid the other extraterrestrials that lie dormant across the galaxies. Instead of physical altercations, they would rather engage in verbal abuse, breaking an individual's psyche as a hobby. Beyond their questionable nature and moral compasses, they long to find meaning in their lives and put names to the feelings that drive each passing moment. They are insatiable—far too greedy for more knowledge and a supposed understanding of their lives. It's pitiable, really, the way they struggle to find themselves while ravaging their kind through petty wars and conflicts built off of misunderstanding. They created words and languages to fill the holes that lived inside their souls, desperate for ways to find meaning in their incredibly short lifespans. They'll waste their entire lives trying to find their so-called passions and reasons for living, acting as if they truly rule the way their lives go, supposed "controllers of their own destiny." Yet, they cannot evade the inevitable visit from death, who stands next to them, ticking the seconds down until their demise.
