I was in the kitchen helping Laurel prepare dinner. I had taken a liking to her as she kept me company around the house.

Caine and Thaddeus were busy going to meetings in the city with The Committee, regarding Lenas death and my kidnapping, as well as my fathers criminal activity.

They had been out for two days and I missed them like crazy. Laura's daughters were out in the human world as well as they were both studying in the university downtown. So we had spent a fare amount of time alone at home. I remember how she refused to let me help her around the house and now I can't sleep in past ten in the morning because she wakes me up with a broom in hand.

"So both of your daughters haven't found their mates yet?" I asked as I took the muffins out of the oven.

"Nope, they are past that age, but for some reason I think they will find their mates at the Gala.

"The Gala?"

"Yea! You never heard of the Gala before?" Laurel asked taking her cooking apron off.

I shook my head. "It sounds like something fancy, out of a fairy tale.

"Well it is. Your parents never took you to it? It's a big event that every Alpha needs to attend to!"

"I don't know what to call that man, what Lena said just stuck to me" I mumbled as I sat down on the kitchen stool with a plate of rice and deer meat in front of me. I truly did felt confused and I couldn't help but to feel alone. All of these lies and things that were happening was just driving me insane.

Laurel grabbed a plate and sat next to me. She took a bite of the deer meat and chewed on it carefully before turning to me.

"You will find the answers that you need to find by asking people from your pack."

"I just don't know who to ask...my father- never let me out of the house when I was growing up. The only person I was allowed to hang out with was the betas daughter Elle. But even with her it was controlled."

"Oh well then! That is a good thing because I invited Elle over for dinner with her mate and her mother Elizabeth! They should be arriving-"

The bell rang and I smelled Elle's soft scent hit my nose. She smelled different though.

"Oh they are here!" Laurel announced cheerfully as she adjusted her dress. "Come!" She says as she pulls me up to go with her to the front door.

"Wait...Elle is here—now?" I was in complete shock.

"Yes ! Did you think I was joking?! I asked Caine to do some research on you and I found out about Elle! Darling we were worried about your past and we figured her mother could help since she was the mate of the beta of your pack...and we know that you have been feeling depressed and lonely so we figured we should reach out and find your best friend"

"Depressed?"

"The mate bond. Caine and Thaddeus feel you, all of you. We were worried Aurora" Laurel says softly as she placed her hands on my shoulder."Now let's go and open the door for your best friend, it's cold out!"

She didn't have to tell me twice, I ran to the door and opened it to see a very big Elle. And when I say big I mean her big pregnant belly. "Elle!! Oh my Goddess! You are pregnant!!!" I screamed as we both embraced each other tightly. Even though she been mated for a month and a half, werewolves pregnancies were fast, and with her belly as big as that, I could tell that she was going to have twins, maybe triplets. Still, I was so happy for her. She had this glow on her skin, and she looked so happy and in love with Eddie. We embrace each other on a tight hug and I just let my wolf and myself cry in relief.

Everyone grew quiet and all you could hear was Elle's and I crying softly. Elle knew everything there was to know about me. And I truly missed her and her company as well as her mother, Elizabeth. She was almost like mother to me. Unfortunately Elle's father passed away from cancer five years ago and my "father" didn't chose another beta. I think that's when things had started to go down from there.

"Welcome!! Please come in" Laurel invited everyone into the warm house. I led Elle inside the house as I was holding on to her warm hand, her mate following behind us quietly. He wasn't an Alpha but he sure looked like one. He was about the same size as Caine and Thaddeus, probably a few inches taller, he almost had to dip his head down when he came into the front door.

"Let's eat up, I know you guys must have had a long trip all the way up here!" Laurel says as she let's us into the dining room. They sat down and Laurel and I brought the food we cooked over.

"I missed you! Do you know how hard it was to find you! one of your neighbors told my mom that you had gotten sent to The Games and I was terrified!" Elle turned to me and grabbed my hands tight. I see the look she gives to her mother and Elizabeth smiles sadly at me. "Aura why did your father sent you out there for that?"

"I don't know" I confessed. "It all happened a few minutes after you left so, I am not sure what the deal was".

"He is losing it Aurora, what about your mom?"

"I don't know Elle, but I'm also sure that you guys heard of what had happened, we don't know anything from them, we have no idea where they might be at, or what his plan is. And we have a rat in this pack. So we are threading carefully."

All three of them nodded when I said this.

Elle leaned in an gave me a tight hug, "we will talk more later okay? This pup is smelling food and he is bouncing off my ribs!" Elle complains as he rubs her hands together when Laurel sets the plate full of food in front of her.

We all laugh and eat our dinner as we make small talk here and there. But it was hard to talk when Laurels cooking was this good!

After we were done eating dinner, laurel grabbed Elle and her mate to show them where they would be sleeping in. They agreed to stay over the weekend with us, and keep us company.

Now it was just Elizabeth and I in the kitchen. I was washing the dishes and she was helping me by drying them. We had spent time like this when my father would allow me to stay over at her house. The silence was comfortable and I enjoyed her presence.

"Say...dear...are you okay?" Elizabeth asked as she put away one of the glass cups.

"Yea, I am. I have never been better actually" I wasn't lying. Being here has been one of the best things that has happened to me. "I am happy to be here with my mates."

She gave a smile and her eyes softly wrinkled. Elizabeth has long black hair that lands on her waist and she was very slim. Her olive skin has a natural glow to it and she didn't look like she was aging at all. Then again. We did aged slower, more than humans.

"I am very happy for you Aurora, I prayed that one day, you would find your mate, and now, you have two. You are glowing too, You look healthier too" she says to me as tears begging to form in her eyes.

I embrace her in a hug and she hugs me back tightly.

"Lena...before she died. Told me that my father wasn't actually my father"

Elizabeth looks away quickly and I tilt my head. She looked as if she has been shocked or something. She turns around and dips her hands into the sink to grab the spoons and forks before she begins to wash them.

"Please Elizabeth. I know- I mean...it's not hard to figure out that he isn't my father. I don't even know if my mother is even my mother. I sit here, and see how these mothers care for their pups, they are so loving towards them, so caring, always making sure they are okay, and they even protect them from their fathers when they are being disciplined. My mother never did that for me. Elizabeth; what ever you know, I must know. I deserve to know the truth. If I am to become Alpha of my pack, I need to know everything."

I stand by her patiently, as she looks down to her hands. She rinses off the soap from the utensils and puts them in the dish rack to dry.

"You want to know?"

I nod.

"Then it is my duty to tell you everything"

"Please that is all I ask". I beg. She turns to me and her face was serious.

"Aurora, I just want you to know, that what I will tell you, will change your life forever. Can you handle that?"

The pain I was feeling in my chest grew tighter, but I nodded as I took a deep breath. I was ready for it. I had to knows

Elizabeth followed me to Caine's office and I closed the door behind me. I walked on over to the large grey sofa that sat in front of the large window. We sit and Elizabeth takes a deep breath.

I grab her hands and squeeze. Reminding her that I was ready for this.

"What Lena said it's true. Victor is not your father, but Beatriz is your mother."

I felt my heart sink into my stomach and I felt myself growing dizzy.

"Aurora- are you okay?" Elizabeth shakes me softly and I nod.

"Yea Im just...it's different to hear it-"

"I can't do this Aurora.."

Elizabeth stands up and starts to pace back and forth in front of me. "I am sorry Aurora" she apologizes again.

"No please I am ready! I must know this! I need to know all of it! I don't know what it is that I am fighting here! You, telling me the truth will help me, I will get stronger if I know where I came from, my past. Please Elizabeth I need to know! I deserve to know! My father is out there selling women! Selling she-Wolves! I need to know what I am going up against!"

She gives me a soft look and nods before sitting down in front of me.

"We don't know who your father is, but your mother was from the Revel pack."

"Revel?" I asked "isn't that a casino?"

Elizabeth nodded. "It was until your father- Victor...took over their lands, destroyed everything in that pack and sold the lands to a developer, who then turned it into a Casino. Victor gets money from the casino every month..."

"Why did he attacked Revel Pack, to Mom's pack?

Elizabeth shook her head. "Elle's father never wanted to tell me...but I think this all started after he died. Gregory was Victor's beta and he seemed to always butt heads with him. I almost don't remember him coming him to us with a smile. He was always angry and upset. I once caught him crying in his office out of frustration. I believe he might have been protecting our pack from Victor's greed."

"Yea that sounds like Victor."

"I am so sorry darling. We know of what you were going through but we didn't know how to intervene to protect you". Elizabeth tells me as she tried to fight her tears back.

"I grew used to it, please if you remember anything else, tell me..I want know more" I say and Elizabeth nods.

We hug tight before I accompany her to her room.

I wasn't feeling sleepy or anything and it was still early for me. It was ten at night and it was feeling nice out. I needed a run. I had to let my wolf out.

"Oh yes bitch please take me out!"

"It has not been that bad"

"Not been that bad? Aura I am close to getting arthritis here if you don't let me stretch my legs"

"Fine, it's been too long for me too"

"Then let's go!"

I leave a note for Laurel telling her that I will be going for a midnight run around the pack grounds. As I make my way to the back door, the guard bows his head before opening the door for me. "Would you like for me to get Erik to accompany you?" The guard asks.

"No, it's okay, it will be quick"

"Luna, with all due respect, we would feel better if Erik came with you. If something were to happen to you. It would be my neck and...I have a little girl at home that I would like to see"

"Oh! I would beat Caine up myself if he ever tried something like that. But if you insist and if it will make you feel better then that's fine I'll get Erik-"

"I am here!"

I turn to find Erik running towards me with a huge grin on his face.

"Luna!" He bows his head and I give the guard a look.

"You were going to call him anyways..."

"Of course, our pack grounds are secure but there is still a rat and we don't want anything to happen to you, Luna."

He was right. I had to be smart. I couldn't just be running out here at this time and by myself.

"Fine, You ready Erik?"

"As I will ever be!"

The guard opens the door, and the cold air hits my skin, but I pushed the cold thoughts to the back of my head as I walked outside. The sky was clear and the stars were shinning like they always did.

I began to strip my clothes and Erik turned around to give me privacy. I put the pile of clothes In the corner next to the door and walked back down until my feet were on the cold grass. I concentrated my energy and my wolfs energy as she took over.

My bones began to snap and I held back a scream.

It took twenty seconds for my transformation. I know because I count every time.

"Oh that feels so much better"

"I can take your clothes if you want?" Erik asks and I nod my head. He walks over and grabs my clothes before he stretched his body a bit.

I stretch out my legs too before I start running, and I have to say. It all felt so good. It had been months since I shifted. My body, my wolf, myself needed it. I felt like going to the edge of the river where Lena and Malaky had their boat waiting for them on that night.

"Luna where are you going?"

Erik asks. He was having a hard time keeping up with me but still managed to catch up. I didn't liked to talk when I ran, so I was going to let him figure it out himself.

"This is where we were taken! The boat was here!"

I howl a response making him run faster next to me.

We were running along side the river. It was beautiful at night. But I prayed to whoever got caught in those waters. I saw in the water some metal boxes with cables going over towards the direction of the pack.

Erik caught me looking and he kneeled down next to me. "Those are to help power up the whole community. Alpha Caine made those actually. It's Hydropower"

Caine? Made those huge metal things ? I sat down to listen to Erik's story.

"I remember when he made them. It took many of us to help putting them there. Something that was going to take 3 years to get them ready he managed to do in 6 months. He gave us electricity and that much more. Some elders weren't too happy because they thought that were going to forget about how "our ancestors did it" but Caine shut it down quick. We have a special needs pup that needs oxygen to survive and Caine made it all so that the pups family didn't have to move away to the human world."

It made my heart swell when Erik told me that. Caine was this beautiful werewolf, with a kind hard and I wish the whole would could see this side of him. The fact that he worked hard on these machines to help that family out made me fall deeper in love with him.

But how does he do all of these things? What did Caine really did on his free time? I do know that I see a lot of metal made things around the house and I be finding small cable pieces in our room on the floor, so I wondered. I made a mental note to ask Caine the next time I saw him.

I nudged Erik's arm signaling for him to give me my clothes. He places them on the side before turning around. I transform back to my human form and put my clothes back on.

"Okay so...what exactly does Alpha Caine do?" I asked quickly as I fix my shirt.

"No one really knows to be honest. But he always comes in with new stuff. He also makes medicine with Loretta. She is the packs herbalist! Their medicines have helped many of our packs as well as other packs around the area...he never talked about it with you?"

I shook my head. "Not really-"

"Shhhh" Erik Interrupts. He was looking out in the distance towards the water. "There is someone out there...on the other side"

"Where?" I ask as I try to look out towards the area he was looking at.

"We got to hide" he whispers as he pulls me towards a set of bushes so that we can hide and observe.

We crouch down and wait for who ever it is to come out. After a few minutes, a small black boat comes speeding from the other side of the river towards Caine's territory. The boat comes ashore and someone comes out of it, pulls the boat in more and tied it up around one of the sharp rocks.

I couldn't see well because the mist of the river was making it hard to see who it was, as the figure walked away from the water I could see that the person was wearing a black rain coat, with the hoodie up. Right there, I feel the wind change direction, blowing towards us. And that is where I pick up the scent from whoever that was. The wind carried the scent straight to us and I froze.

Erik tenses up next to me,I know this because I hear him hold his breath. "Luna...that scent...that's-"

"That's Beta Ally."

"What is she doing out here?" Erik whispers.

"I don't know but we are going to find out"

"Copy that" Erik replies as he takes out a small bottle with some liquid inside of it.

"What is that?" I ask as I see him take a gulp from it.

"This is something that Caine and Loretta invented to mask our scent whenever we are sent on missions to gather information". He takes a sip from it before offering it to me. I take it and take a sip.

"How long does it take to work?"

"Immediately"

"I don't feel anything-"

"It just lowers your scent to almost nothing; it will last for a good four hours...Luna, I do think that we got to inform someone-"

"No, what if she mindlink someone that's working with her...she could be the rat for all we know. Doing this will have her go on high alert"

"You are right, I will go first"

I nod as he slowly moves from the bushes. We see Ally walking carefully in the distance and we follow. The grass was tall so we were covered pretty well from sight.

"She is heading towards the direction of the cells" Erik whispers and I nod.

I closed my eyes and tried to mindlink Caine and Thaddeus but I knew that it wouldn't be of much use since they were far. I figured that maybe if I could make a small cut that it would alert them somehow. I remember how Thaddeus told me that they would feel anything I would feel...I let my claws grow and made a cut across my hand hoping that they would sense this and come running back to the pack, because I was starting to having a bad feeling about this.

We follow her, but we still kept distance. The Goddess was with us tonight as the wind kept on blowing towards us, I wasn't worried since Erik had given me that potion that would block our scent but still, how long does it usually last?

Ally walked all the way up to the cells and goes into the building. The guard outside moved aside to let her in. And she disappears inside.

"Luna we got to go back"

"Why?"

"Because Elijah just mindlinked me asking where you were"

"Okay so tell him we went for a run!"

"Ehhh...well...he did it because Caine and Thaddeus called him...they said their hand started to bleed at the meeting and they tried to reach out to you and you didn't answer the phone so...they are on their way-"

"Shit" I cursed. We were so close to figuring out what Ally was doing!

"Well, now I know that the bond works!" I whisper as we both start to crawl back. We walk together to Caine's house, the guards open the door for us and move to the side so that we can go in.
