"So...why can't I hear your thoughts?"

Aurora's question felt like a bucket of cold water had been thrown on me. I sense Caine's energy as well and I'm sure he was thinking the same thing.

"Aurora that's something that might be too much for you" I reply to her as I sit up on the bed.

She is looking at me attentively and Caine is looking distance. I'm sure he is talking to his wolf as we speak.

"What you mean by that? I mean. All three of us have gone through so much these past couple of weeks, I just thought-"

"I'm sorry Aurora but that's not happening" Caine cuts in before he gets off the bed and walks to the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

I could tell that he was upset, but we had to talk to her about this. Aurora looked hurt as she looked at me and then back at the bathroom door.

My wolf hated to see her upset. She was definitely playing it off but I know that she knew that she had hit a tough subject.

"Look Aurora, this is a tough subject right now-"

"It's okay Thaddeus, we can talk about it some other time, I don't want to ruin the night" she replied back with a soft smile.

She wasn't pushing it but she was definitely not going to put this conversation in the back burner. That much I knew.

"It's just that, it might be too much for you to handle. Our minds...when you are an Alpha, you are constantly in touch with your guards, elders, your whole pack sometimes too, and it might be a bit difficult to control it for us, meaning that some things can slip up and you can see them, right now I can see bits and pieces of your past memories too"

"All of them?"

I nod, "Yea, if I focus hard enough I can see your memories, I will know where you are at, I can feel if you are in pain, if you are hurt, if you are safe...when you are turned on" she smiled at this and her eyes darken a little, before she focused her attention on me. "I think that might be a bit difficult for Caine to share though, he has gone through a lot".

"Will it be like that for me when I step up officially as Alpha?"

Shit, I had almost forgot that her people chose for her to be Alpha. "Yea it will be like that- you can control it though, like block it, but it's a big responsibility. If something were to happen to anyone in your pack you will miss it and you don't want that to happen".

"So you are constantly hearing all of it?"

"Yea, pretty much, it's control through, I'm far away from my pack so I don't hear much from them, but it's controlled, the pack members usually mind link the beta first and then he or she reaches the Alpha"

"Oh" she mutters softly. "So, I guess Caine is constantly talking with beta Ally then..."

Oh shit. I slap myself mentally.

"Yea but- so can you, she can talk to him, but she can't read his mind. It's the mind link. Now if you were to bite us, you would be able to see everything, our past, our fears, you will feel if we are hurt, it's deeper than a regular mind link"

"Yet, he doesn't want to share the same with me, I want to know when you and Caine are in pain, if you guys are happy if you guys are you know, horny and turned on," she says as he throws her hands in the air. "You guys can feel me but I can't feel you, and I don't think that's fair. "

"It's not like that Aurora-"

"How would you know that?" She asks suspiciously. "He can read my thoughts and all of these other things but I can't do the same?"

"Beta and Alpha relationship are mostly professional, like I said before, they both haven't marked each other, as far as I know, so they can only talk, he can't feel Ally and Ally can't feel him," I say honestly. But then again. I didn't know why she was asking this. My beta was Ben and he was a man. But I wondered why Aurora seemed worried about this.

"And my reason to do it is because I do not want to overwhelm you with all my thoughts and worries. Aurora its a lot...and He is your mate Aurora, believe me that man and his wolf only got eyes for you" I was curious to know. Aurora didn't seem like the insecure girl but why was she thinking this right now.

"It's nothing really, maybe I'm just overthinking" she replied back while looking away, before laying close to me.

She was lying, "Aurora tell me the truth, why are you so worried about Ally?"

Aurora let's out a sigh before looking back at the bathroom door. The water was running and I heard her heart pick up a bit. "Caine and Beta Ally had something before I came into the picture" she mumbles softly.

Everything clicked now.

"But you are his mate, he marked you, you don't have to worry about anything"

"Yes I know but, it's just that. I'm scared, that he will change...I didn't grow up with the best father figure as you can see, so I am terrified of rejection. Or worst"

"One of these days, sit down and talk to him and ask, there is much that you don't know about Caine that will surprise you Aurora".

She nods before she cuddles up close to me, her head was on my chest and I pulled her closer to me by wrapping my arm around her small form. She smelled like vanilla and sex still and it was making my wolf get horny again. The images of her bouncing on me, how she kissed me and caressed me, how she took all of me in her mouth, how she felt, it was all coming back and I wanted to get on top of her and take her all for myself this time. I pushed those thoughts to the back of my head quick.

It wasn't long until her breathing became even, signaling that she was asleep. I hear the bathroom door open and Caine comes out, with a towel around his waist.

I move out of the the bed carefully, so that Aurora wouldn't wake up. She looked so beautiful sleeping soundly. I moved a small strand of hair from her face before covering her body well with the fleece blanket.

I wasn't the one to smoke but I needed one right now. I grabbed my cigarette pack from the jacket and headed outside to the balcony.

The rain had stopped now, and the skies had cleared, you could see the whole night sky and the stars and it was a beautiful sight to see. It wasn't windy or chilly, and if it was, my body wouldn't be able to feel it. Specially after the work out I just had with Aurora.

It had been my first time doing a "threesome" with the woman I love and I was still trying to digest what just happened. Everything that I had been taught growing up was thrown out the window and I wondered if any of this was right. But then I looked at her and it all just made sense.

I put the cigarette on my lips and light it up. I take a quick drag before letting the smoke out.

"You shouldn't be smoking that shit when this, is so much better"

Caine comes from behind me with a joint on his lips.

I was more of a drinker than a smoker, and I had to admit I never smoked weed before.

"How many of those do you have to smoke for you to get high?" I asked as I took a drag from my cigarette. Werewolves had a high tolerance for alcohol and weed, I don't know how he was going to feel something with that.

Caine laughed as he lit up the blunt. Taking a hit from it, before passing it on to me.

"I created this" he says as he swings the joint in front of my face. "In my free time I go down to the lab and work on a few things"

"Talking about labs, when are you going to tell Aurora that you are a scientist that's creating a bunch of shit to help the planet and your people?" I ask him and he gives me a look before looking down to his feet. He lights up the joint and take a hit from it. Inhaling the smoke up his nose before letting it out from his mouth.

"I am scared that she is going to ask me how I came to do all of this"

"So you tell her the truth-"

"I can't do that, you-"

"That's bullshit Caine, she is worried about you. You know that she feels some type of way because of your Beta. Even if we can communicate with each other, she thinks you talk to Ally more than you do with her."

"You know that's not why I don't want her marking me. Not even Ally can reach me sometimes"

"So why is she your beta?" I ask confused.

"I made a promise to her father before he passed away"

"Then tell her that, so that Aurora can understand. Wasn't you the one that kept on telling me to tell her the truth in the beginning? That's exactly what I had been doing. Because I'm not hiding shit from her, bloody hell brother what has gotten into you?" I confront as I finish my cigarette.

I can see that I ticked him off because he is clenching his jaw, hard.

"I don't want her to see the truth. Of what I am"

I almost forgot about his Lycan side.

"The truth comes out sooner or later, and it's better that she hears it from you...Brother can I tell you something?"

This was something that I didn't want to do. But the day has come for me.

"I have to go back to my pack, figure something out. I have been gone for too long-"

"You are leaving tomorrow aren't you?"

I nod.

I was an Alpha, my pack hasn't seen me for a month and my father can only handle so much. I had to figure out what I was going to do.

"We have to figure out how we are going to do this. You know mates can't be away from each other for too long" Caine says as he takes a hit from his joint before passing it to me. I look at it before I take it in between my fingers. I take a hit from it and wow he was right.

From the first hit I was feeling it. "The fuck you put in this?" I ask him quickly as I try not to cough.

Caine laughs before patting my back.

"A little bit of wolfsbane will help the natural chemicals in the weed kick in"

"I hope you ain't trying to kill your pack with this"

"Nah, only I smoke the one with wolfsbane, no regular wolf could be able to handle this. The medical building got the regular weed for pain for my warriors and elders and other werewolves with medical issues. It works wonders"

I manage to calm my lungs down after a few deep breaths.

"So what have you decided to do?" Caine asks as he hands me the joint again. I shake my head and he puts it out. If I took one more hit of that I was sure I was going to die.

"I'm thinking of handing it over to Ben. I believe he will make a better Alpha."

"Do you think Ben will accept".

I shrug my shoulders as I look at the full moon who was shining brightly over us. "I don't know, I haven't talked to him about it but something has to be done. I don't want to leave her side but I'm responsible for my people too".

Caine nods in agreement before turning to me.

"You have changed brother, whatever you decide to do, I will support". He says before patting my shoulder. But he freezes in his step.

His eyes go dark and I give him a look. He was mind linking someone.

"Shit" he says as his eyes turn back to their normal green color.

"What is it?" I ask.

"That was Ally, my sister is here".

"The one that works with the FBI?" I ask. I can feel the wind pick up a little sending chills down my body.

"Yup, she is the only sister I have! And She brought you a present" he says with an evil smile on his face.

I turn my head and give him a look of confusion until I figured it all out by the smirk that formed on his lips.

"She found your little Lena, and brought her directly to us".
