"Nora." My monotone voice gave nothing away as I stop before my little sister. I couldn't say the same about my face as I glared daggers that I wished were able to stab her. Something to make her feel the pain that I did.

"Caleb, nice of you to finally join us." She mused crossing her arms full of herself. Her long black hair floated in the warm summer breeze and regardless of the hot air she wore an equally black jacket.

"Where's Eve?" I asked running my eyes up to every window I could see of the cabin. There was no sign of her anywhere.

"No, how you been sis? Where have you been sis?" She rolled her eyes annoyed. "I don't know why expected anything different. You've always been about yourself."

"What do you want Nora? Just give me Eve and I'll leave I won't even go after you. You can leave and we can forget any of this happened.

She let out a loud humorless laugh that caused me to jerk back in surprise. "You think I just did this for shits and giggles? Oh come on, Caleb. Use your brain for once."

"Where's Eve, Nora?" I repeated through gritted teeth. I didn't want to waste time on empty conversations. Roy was in there, I could smell it, and so was Eve. My blood boiled with the inability to get to her. I didn't want to even think what he was doing to her.

Nora's growl caught my attention and I snapped my attention back to her. "What do you want Nora? Money?" I started asking desperate to cut this conversation short.

"No. I want what was always supposed to me mine." She explained coming closer noticing my confused face. "I was supposed to be alpha not you."

Rage coursed through my veins, she did all this for her own selfish greed? She killed Aurora, nearly killed Loz, and took Eve for this. "This is what all this is about? Have you lost your damn mind?! You nearly killed Loz! You killed an innocent human Nora."

"It was a human life, there's plenty more." She shrugged nonchalantly.

My eyes felt like they were on fire, I was sure they were raging blazing blue. She had lost all sense of reality, and people were still willing to follow her?

"Do you hear yourself? You killed someone, Nora. You didn't just hurt one person, you killed one and left a child with out a mother. I think that you of all people would know what you just did to that girl, losing dad at-"

Nora growled furiously as she marched towards me gripping the collar of my shirt. Her claws tore through the fabric, but that was the least of my worries as her wolf seemed to be on the brink of shifting. Nora was fighting the urge with all her might but her emotions were all over the place.

"You don't get to talk about dad and you especially don't get to talk about how it effected me. You jumped into his grave the first tear mom shed begging you." She shoved my chest pulling away. "She didn't even ask how I felt about you taking over."

"You were only seventeen, Nora. You were young, and weren't trained enough to take over. Other alphas would have jumped at the first chance they got of overthrowing you, seeing you as a weak and young teenager." I explained hoping she would see the sense behind my actions.

She knew I never wanted to be the alpha but when dad was killed our mother begged me to take over, too distraught herself to lead. The pack was so distressed at the time, someone had to bring reassurance and my mother being Luna was grieving over my father. It naturally fell to me even if I didn't want the position.

Over time it just became part of me. I embraced the position and taught myself a lot. I knew I wasn't perfect and I never looked at myself as if I were. There were mistakes I made and learned from and I'm still making them.

"I am as much of an alpha as you! So what if I was seventeen, I had way more training than you. I was better suited for the position than you, I'm still better than you." Her canines poked beneath her lips. Her wolf wanted out. She wanted to lash out, but she had something planned and the more she pulled her wolf back the more I realized she couldn't lash out. It would ruin her plan, whatever it was.

So I played off that. I taunted her emotions, I pulled the restrains she used to control her wolf making it near impossible to hold back her shift.

"You and I are too different people, Nora. You kill people for greed I don't. You are messed up in the head and need help. No wonder mom begged me." I smirked hating every word I said. The words felt sour on my tongue. "You'd fail at every test, every challenge another alpha presented. You-d never be able-"

Claws scratched my cheek and a crimson shower of blood sprayed from my face. Her wolf's snot was mere millimeters from my face as it snapped its jaw shut.

She slide a couple feet away from me against the gravel driveway. Wiping the blood that poured out of the wound on my face I huffed in forced amusement.

"See what I mean? You're too slow. You missed." She snarled puffing up her fur in anger. I rose an eyebrow at her display. "Admit it Nora, you're weak."

She lunged towards me and instead of being caught off guard I shifted myself meeting her halfway in the air. Our wolves collided, our jaws hitting off on another as we tumbled to the ground. Snapping jaws caused bundles of fur to fly everywhere as we each bit at one another.

Nora's much lighter form found it's why onto my back biting into the side of my neck. She was trying to kill me as I felt her bit down harder when I let out a squeal. No amount of shaking would break her loss so I fell to my side being sure to swing my body harder than need causing her body to twist beneath me. She let out a whimper and her jaws loosened up for a split second, it was enough for me to get back onto my feet.

'Stop this Nora. It doesn't have to be like this.' I begged. It did nothing but make her more feral. I wasn't even sure she was herself anymore as she tried to bit at me again.

I had pinned her down to the ground and I was about to end it, like I should, but I hesitated. I didn't hesitate because I couldn't finish her off, no it was because there was scream that echoed against the trees.

Nora stilled beneath my weight seeming to recognize the same scream. It snapped her out of what trans she had been stuck in and she kicked me off her as she ran off in the direction of the scream. I followed close behind. It wasn't just Nora and I that chased after the noise, it was all her minions too.

We ran a few meters into the forest before I caught that soothing and familiar cinnamon scent. I skidded to a stop when Nora shifted and stood in front of him and he was holding Eve.

My breath hitched in my throat as I watched him kicked Eve's knees in forcing her roughly to her knees.

I shifted about to step up rip his throat out but Nora's voice interrupted.

"What the fuck are you doing Roy? Remember what I said about what would happen if I caught you fucking up the plan?" She growled out her muscles flexed with anger.

I would have paid more attention to what they were talking about but my undivided attention was on Eve. Tears streamed down her face in waterfalls, her shirt was drenched in blood. I wanted to tell myself it wasn't her blood but from the scent I picked up it was only her's. My eyes trailed back up from her shirt to where my mark should rest but there was only a pink and inflamed skin with the branding of the letters R.V., my wolf nearly took over in that moment.

No, Caleb if you snap now you might get Eve killed. I didn't care if I died I just couldn't watch her die, I couldn't watch someone kill her.

"You burned her!" I shouted pushing past Nora.

"No! Caleb don't come any closer. It's-" Eve was cut short from her warning as Roy kicked her back sending her face first into the forest floor.

I stopped approaching snapping my fury filled eyes into Roy's demon orbs. There wasn't an ounce of decency or empathy in those beady little eyes.

"Yay!" Roy exclaimed a wide smile on his face pulled out a gun. I counted eight other men that stepped out of the trees guns all aiming at us.

Nora took a hostile step forward and all guns turn to her. She instantly stopped.

"Uh-Uh-Uh, Nora. I wouldn't take another step if I were you. Just one of these canisters holds enough concentrated wolf's bane to put all of you on your knees. Two canisters will have you nearly suffocating and Three... well I think you can imagine." He grinned as Nora took a step back.

"Roy you're breaking the treaty between the Valencia family hunters and-"

"Fuck the treaty, Caleb! As if I give a damn." He rolled his eyes and crinkled his noise in disgust. "You think I did all this without thinking about the treaty? Of course I thought about it and I saw more to gain back breaking it than sticking to it." He grabbed Eve's curls in his hand hoisting her up to her feet. "I got what I wanted after all by doing so."

He placed a kiss to the side of her head. Eve wiggled to get out of his grasp disgusted by the kiss but it only made him tug back on her head. She winced and let out a groan in pain.

"Nora, it was nice working with you but I think I'm going to go back on me word."He paused pulling out a gun and taping the barrel of it to his mouth thinking. "I'm an impatient man and so I thought, how else could I speed this process up. And then it dawned on me," He rose the gun up slowly aiming it right at me.

Eve's eyes grew wide fearful knowing just what he was about to do. We all knew what was about to happen, and I was ready for it. I knew I wasn't making it out alive I just hate myself even more for not saving Eve.

"I could just kill him myself." His words sounded distant and muffled. I focused on nothing else but Eve as he pulled the safety pack on the gun and rested his finger on the trigger.

I mouthed the words I love you just before the loud sound of the round went off. I awaited for the pain to hit me as the bullet pierced my skin but there was none. In fact, I felt no different.

Stunned and confused I looked down at my chest and stomach. Nope, no blood or bullet whole. As I looked up to joke if he just shot a blank at me I was shocked to see the bullet just foot from my face.

I thought I was in some sort of trans, where time stopped but that wasn't the case because the bullet was being held by a hand. As I followed the hand up to my savior I couldn't help but cock a smile.

"Remember when I said you'd get us all killed?" Druscilla asked bring up our conversation months ago. She looked closer at the bullet inspecting the silver coating. "This is what I meant."
