《Deception (Book #1) ✅》~60: Rain Check~

I sat curled up on the bed, weak and frail. Nora had dug her claw in deep enough to cause excruciating pain but not deep enough to hit anything important. A small part of me with she had then I wouldn't have to sit here withering in pain while they methodically went over their plan.
The fact that they were so confident as to speak about their plan in front of me left me mood to further decline. If Caleb and the others did find me they were surely going to get themselves killed. Nora had everything thought out to the smallest of details.
"She's shaking, Nora. What happened to not hurting her?" Roy spat crossing his arms and leaning against the far wall.
"You know what she is and I had to make her scream it was the only way to lead Caleb here. Once he hears her scream he'll come running here, guns blazing without thinking straight." She explain as if it were obvious, it wasn't though for Roy as he pushed off the wall stepping closer to me.
My breaths were harsh as I fought not to cry every time I tried to feed my starving lungs. Every intake of air felt like my side was retearing.
"The agreement was that I help you and I take Eve for myself. I can't use a dead body. Look at her! Her shirt is completely soaked, at least give her some of your blood before she bleeds to death." Roy demanded pointing at me trembling form.
Nora stood up to her feet with in a blink of an eye stepping up to Roy. Her canines poked out from beneath her lip as she curled her lip in disgust. "I wouldn't have to nearly make her die if you hadn't burned her mark. You forced me to find another way to lead Caleb here, moron."
Roy was taken by surprise by her words as he peered over shoulder to take a glance at me. I hissed pulling the covers up in an attempt to cover myself up.
"Can't you heal her? She did what you needed already, I'd really like to take with me a breathing girlfriend." Roy said a slight plea in his voice as his eyes darted from Nora to me.
I wanted to scream at him that I wasn't his and never would, but the searing pain was to great for me to even muster up the strength to open my mouth.
With an annoyed groaned, Nora turned around and huffed. "Fine, I don't see why not, but it will only be just enough." She ripped the blanket away from me in one swift move, grabbing my arm and hoisting me up to my knee. A pain filled squeak came out of me in the jerky motion. "I don't need her getting her hopes up and trying anything stupid."
Nora tore open her palm once more forcing it against my lips. She coated my lips with her blood as if it were some kind of lipstick. I gagged and tired to pull away but between my side screaming in agony and how weak I felt I could only shake my head from side to side.
Nora shoved me away when she was satisfied with the amount of blood that I took in. Frantically I wiped at the blood mortified once again, but with my sudden movement I noticed that I wasn't in as much pain as I was before; already feeling the bloods effects.
With watchful eye on my every move I felt like a bug under a microscope. I pulled the covers that were ripped from me back around my body as my petrified eye flicked from Nora to Roy and back to Nora. I didn't want to be caught off guard if one of them decided to jump me.

From the conversation before it didn't sound like they were working together very well, which gave me just a sliver of hope that maybe one of them would be selfish enough to step out of line. Though it was a sliver of hope it wasn't enough for me to feel positive about the situation.
Caleb was still at a disadvantage. If Nani was shot like Roy told me, and with the memory of her unmoving body told me anything, then Caleb was down a person her could trust.
My eyes peered at the many people that crowded the room. It wasn't just Nora and Roy, there were some men that I vaguely recall chasing me into the club months ago and there were faces from the pack that betrayed Caleb for Nora. Knowing how Caleb was with this whole traitor problem and how overly protective he was of me, it is safe to assume that he didn't have many people he could in trust with my life.
That only leaves Lawrence, Alex and Taylor. I say Taylor half-heartedly because I know that both Caleb and Taylor do not like each other very much, let alone trust.
Roy cleared his throat when he finally became content with my healing. "So how long until he shows up?"
Nora turned to face him her long black hair swaying with the movement. With crossed arms as answered. "It should take long. I have someone watching his movements back at the packhouse.
He left about an hour ago just before she screamed." She glanced at me as I listened. "He should be making a detour pretty quickly here."
"How many men does he have with him?" Roy questioned looking around the room as if counting the numbers they had now.
"Only one. Lawrence, our beta was severally hurt in the tunnel collapse when he and Caleb tried to stop me. And Nani, from my understanding is holding onto life by a thread." As Nora mentioned Nani and Lawrence her face fell. Was that guilt I saw or was she just portraying it to me so I would sympathize.
I turned my head away unwilling to let myself feel anything but hatred towards her. She was evil and conniving. She didn't deserve to be breathing the same air as I.
Roy chuckled resting his elbow on his crossed arm and placing his fisted hand to his mouth, hiding a smile he was trying to suppress.
"This is going to be a walk in the park. You don't even need me anymore. I can take Eve now that you've lured him here." Roy moved around Nora to approach me and I instinctually moved further across the bed. Nora reached out and grabbed his forearm halting him.
"You can't take her yet. I still need her." She explained letting go of his arm.
"You need her for what? You said that he was on his way here and that you needed her to scream to lead him here since I screwed up our original plan." Roy pointed at me as he shouted at Nora. "She screamed, you got what you needed, there's no reason for her to still be here. Are you telling me you can't handle two Weres with..." He paused looking around the room. "-eight other men?!"
"Are you calling me incompetent?"
"I'm calling your strength into question." Roy retorted attempting again to step toward me. It was like a battle of tug of war. Roy would step to me and Nora would pull him away. This went on for a few seconds before Nora growled in frustration shoving Roy back into his men. He and a few of his men tumbled to the ground at the sudden surprise.

"I think my strength is pretty good if you ask me. What do you think? Since you're picking yourself up off the floor?" Nora asked a smug smirk plastered on her face as she stared down at Roy.
Roy's face was glowing red with angry as he picked himself up.
"Anyways, as I was saying, I still need her. Caleb won't get close if he doesn't have proof that Eve is here. He's a dense-brained alpha, but he isn't that dense. I need him to think he has a chance of being her knight and shinning arm, only then will be let his guard down enough we can jump him."
Still glaring daggers into Nora's face, Roy scrunched up his noise knowing he'd have to give into her demands. He wanted me and from the looks of it, he'd suck up his pride if that meant that she'd hand me over.
"For two selfish people you guys are working surprising well together." I mumbled pulling myself up against the headboard for support. My side still ached but it was bearable now.
Nora and Roy didn't bother sharing a glance at one another as they both stared blankly at me. I wanted to look away, every nerve in my body screaming at me to do so, but I held their gaze. What did I have to lose? They weren't going to kill me, it was obvious so how much of a risk was it to speak up?
My face snapped to the side as the side of my face felt like it was lit on fire. Holding my cheek I stared up at Nora's intimidating form that loomed over me like a dark storm.
"You're comment isn't needed. You won't say another word unless spoken to." She yanked the collar of my blood shirt until I was just inches from her face and with a snarl she said, "Am I understood?"
I meekly nodded my head, tears brimming my eyes at the stinging pain. Nora dropped me to the bed.
There were loud footsteps that climbed the stairs, the person had made no attempt in hiding their steps as they barreled towards the room. Everyone's head snapped at the door as a werewolf I noticed from Caleb's pack hurried inside. Her chest rose and fell as she caught her breath.
"Collen, what is it?" Nora asked scanning over Collen.
"The men stationed a mile out noticed a black car driving this way. They said that it looked like Caleb's vehicle." She said between heavy breaths.
There was a brief moment of pause before Roy and Nora nodded at one another. Their men and women stepped out of the room as they both looked at one another.
"You are to stay with Eve in the house, until I say otherwise. I'll tell you when to bring her outside after I've had time to properly greet my brother. Do not, under an circumstances, and I mean any," She narrowed her eyes it was obvious that she didn't trust him and with the returned gesture from Roy he didn't either. "step outside of this plan. If you do I won't hesitate to kill Eve the moment I can without ruining my goal."
Nora didn't stand around to await for Roy's crude comment, instead choosing to make her way down the stairs.
"And then their were two." Roy said breaking the silence.
My eyes flicked up at him as I found him once again leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. The fact that he could be so comfortable just moments before the death of someone turned my blood cold. He was a monster. No, they were both monsters, willing to kill anyone and everyone that stood in their way, even if it was family.
"Oh, come on Eve, it's not all bad. Smile a little you get to go home finally." He smiled. Home. I was home and he tore me from it, what on God's green earth did he think home was?
My face didn't hide much of the thoughts that coursed through my mind because Roy's smile dropped to a frown. He wasn't pleased that I was less than enthusiastic.
"You don't look excited." He said insulted, pushing off the wall to make his way to me. I crawled to the furthest side of the bed fearful of what else he wanted to inflict, but I was shocked to when he only sat down on the edge of the bed.
He patted the spot next to him, looking at me to move. I did not, clutching the comforter tighter against my body. Growing annoyed he tilted his head narrowing his eyes at my disobedience.
"Don't make me have to grab you." He warned his voice deep and menacingly low. I gulped moving a few inches closer. It didn't satisfy him as he slipped his hand under the covers pulling my ankle harshly until I was only a foot away from him. The moment he let my ankle go I jerked it away tucking it back under the blanket.
I kept my eyes on the blanket and far from his face. "Eve, a word of advice, before Caleb shows up." I trained my neck until I was face to face with him. "Once this is all over you need to listen to me with I tell you something, it'll save you a lot of pain. I don't like having to put you in line every time and I don't like losing my temper because you don't listen to me."
He raised his hand to cup my face and I instinctually pulled away. Before I could move completely out of his grasp, Roy gave me a warning look before cupping my heated cheek in his palm.
"I couldn't stand seeing her hit you like that. You have no idea how badly I wanted to hit her back for you." He confessed making me furrow my eyebrows in response.
I was confused. How could he not stand to see Nora hurt me but he was so numb to his own abusive hands? He was more delusional than I ever thought could be possible.
" Once this is all over I'll take you far away from her." He sighed looking over my face, his thumb dropping to my bottom lip before his eyes moved back up to my own. "Eve, promise me you'll listen to me." He whispered dipping his head closer to mine.
I closed my eyes nauseated for what I knew was about to happen next. His lips pressed to mine with such urgency that I whimpered at the presser. He licked between my lips begging for access that I willfully denied pulling my head back slightly.
It was all too much. It felt wrong and disgusting and as his fingers dug deeper into my cheeks I audibly cried out. I didn't want to be here anymore, I wanted to go home, to my actual home.
Hell, what I truly wanted was Caleb and he wasn't here and the moment he was he was as good as dead.
Tears trailed down my cheeks at the realization that the last words I told him was that I never wanted to see him away. He was going to die thinking that I hated him.
"Stop crying." Roy grumbled moving his other hand to my hip and pushing me back against the bed.
His unwelcomed weight felt suffocating though he kept much of his weight on his arms. Turning my head from side to side alluding his unwanted kiss, he grow angrier digging his fingers into my hips.
I gasped at the sudden pain and he took the opportunity of my mouth open to slip his tongue inside. My hands pushed against his chest but I didn't have enough strength to push him off. I wasn't completely feeling well and my side still held a dull ache that caused any movement to ache.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse there was voice that felt like a savior.
"Roy." A male voice caught Roy's attention as he pulled away from my crying form to look at the man in the doorway. The man cleared his throat obviously distressed at the scene he had just walked in on.
"What is it?" He roared.
"Nora asked that you bring Evelyn down stairs. Caleb is approaching." He explained keeping his head down.
With a smug smirk Roy looked down at me wiping a tear from my face.
"We'll have to make a rain check and finish this later."
