《Deception (Book #1) ✅》~4: Leaving so soon?~

I felt something poking my side. Annoyed by the feeling I turned onto my side to move away from whatever was poking me.

It must have been Bastet, I thought, pulling the covers tighter around my body.

"Leave her be Jozy." I heard someone hiss. I snapped my eyes open recognizing the name. Sitting up I looked around. Jozy was right in front of me but she had jumped back from me sitting up fast.

Looking more around the room I saw Aurora sitting on a chair next to the bed. She looked tired and on edge.

I began to realize that the room I was in was no room I had stepped into before. I the dark blue walls of the room and the gray drapery in the windows gave off a rich feel to the room. There was a fireplace opposite the bed and a balcony to my left.

Looking back to Jozy again I realized too that the bed was larger than most. The covers were a rich deep blue. The pillows were gray with silver embellishments on it.

This room was definitely expensive in every way possible.

"Where are we?" I asked pulling a piece of hair behind my ear.

"I don't know." Aurora said standing up, creeping towards me as to not make a sound. She sat down on the bed next to me moving Jozy onto her lap. "All I know is there were dogs or wolves... something aggressive, hell by the size of those animals it could have been a bear for all I know. But if I told you what I saw you wouldn't believe me."

"What are you trying to say?" My eyes furrowed as I studied her features.

"Eve if I said it you'd think I was crazy. What I saw was not real. It was a delusion."

Aurora looked scared as she kept looking to the door and back. What had happened when I passed out.

There were voices coming towards us suddenly. They were deep voices, there was no doubt that the owners to those voices were men. After last night I was sick and tired of testosterone belligerent men.

Aurora moved closer to me, pushing Jozy behind us both. The foot steps and voices were right on the other side of the door now. The shadows of their feet were seen under the crack of the door. Their voices now stopped and there was a sudden pause.

The pause felt like an hour though it was just mere seconds, and then the door opened.

My stomach nearly made me hurl. My heart was pounding against my ribs daring to burst from my chest. My head was beginning to feel light and just when I thought I couldn't keep myself from fainting they entered.

Jozy presses herself against Aurora. Her face was buried into her mother's back.

Whatever was about to come in through that door was not going to come past Aurora and I. My niece is my world and I'd be damned if I let anything happen to her.

Two towering men walked into the room.

One of them wore black slacks and a white collared shirt tucked into their belt. He had black hair that was faded on the sides and light brown skin. He was tall, nearly six and a half feet tall. There was no doubt that the man was ripped underneath his nice attire.

The second of the men was much shorter in height, but still 6 foot or taller. He wore the same thing. His sandy blonde hair was messy and unkempt but for some reason looked styled. The one thing that stood out the most to me was his skin. It was.... well, red. And not just any red his skin was bright sun blazing red like someone slapped him with a wet stop sign. That had to have been one awful sunburn.

The shorter of the two men closed the door behind himself. When he went to turn around and face us down he rolled up his sleeves. When he did though I had to hide a smirk as he winced and hissed under his breath as the material rubbed agonizingly against his raw skin.

"This son of a bitch hurts." The man hissed seeming to forget that we were all in here.

The man that was much taller looked annoyed at him. He was definitely the one that was in charge. He elbowed the other guy making him curse under his breath only to realize that where he was and who all was watching.

"Welcome to Black Nova Estate." The much more mature man started to say. He took a step closer to us making Jozy dig deeper into my back. "This is the Pierce's family estate. Alex and I live here along with some of the other... distant members of the family. My name is Lawrence but you can call me Loz." He explained.

Lawernce stretched out his hand towards me. I stared dumbfound. Who were these men and what was this place? I didn't know them and I definitely was not going to shake the hand of my kidnappers.

When he noticed I didn't take his hand he withdrew from the handshake and pursed his lips. He was debating something but as I studied his features a little more I noticed that his eyes looked foggy like he was blind or something. I didn't see that before though. I could have sworn his brown eyes were just normal.

Then just like that, they change back to normal. His once foggy eyes changed back to a deep brown. What had I just witnessed?

"Grab the girl Alex I'll stay with the other two." Lawrence commanded not taking his eyes off of me.

Aurora instinctively cradled Jozy in her arms as pressed her back against the headboard. I slide in front of them both shielding them from the perpetrators. No one was coming near them. I had nothing to lose unlike Aurora and my niece.

Thinking they were referring to Jozy I blocked their view from her but it all happened so fast and I had taken too long to realize that the girl they were referring to was me.

Alex had reached for my arms. As he reached I kicked him square in the chest sending him tumbling down to the ground. Lawerence must have known better because he did not miss a beat as he threw his weight on me making me fall onto the bed.

My heart was pounding so hard I could hear it clearly in my head. My blood was rushing through my veins like a drug. With the huge man on top of me I started to panic and couldn't help but shout and scream underneath the man. I thrashed about the bed hoping it would somehow loosen his grip on me.

I heard Jozy screaming and crying and I watched as Aurora placed her down on the other side of the bed making her slide underneath it. Once she was safely away Aurora threw her weight on top of the man as well.

"Jesus Aurora you're supposed to be helping me not suffocating me with your damn weight!" I yelled nearly running out of breath.

Aurora wrapped her arm around the man's neck pulling with all her might to pull him off of me.

"Oh I'm sorry would you like me to watch as they take you?!" She shot make struggling to pull this eight ton of a muscle off of me.

I pushed against his chest helping Aurora move him away from me. Just as I pushed him off enough for me to slide out from under him I was wrapped up in another pair of arms. They were sun stained red. I smirked as I bite down on the forearm of who I could only think to be as Alex.

"FUCK!" He screamed releasing his grip and frowning as he gently rubbed the bite mark. I didn't hesitate to punch him in the face sending him a couple of steps back. He had let out another string of curse words.

I turned back to Aurora who was struggling to keep Loz under control. She had wrapped her legs around him. She was still trying to chock him out but I swear this man was made of stone. I watched as he stood him with Aurora still clinging to him like a bear. His face was turning blue and I couldn't help but chuckle a little as I listen to Aurora complain about his strength.

"Drop already! What are you the fucking hulk?" She squeezed harder. He started to walk towards me, still blue in the face.

I wasn't going to let him get that close though. I wasn't going to risk it. He took one more step towards me and kicked him right in his crotch. He let out an awkward sound before falling with a thud to the ground. Aurora fell with him swearing as she hit her head accidentally on the hardwood floor.

"Who are these people?" I asked starting to feel panicked.

I helped Aurora up. Her long sleeve tee was a little sticky with sweat.

"I don't know but if we have to deal with another one of him... I don't think we are going to make it very far." She told me pulling Jozy out from under the bed.

I looked over to Alex who had somehow knocked himself out after I had punched him when he stood up too quickly and hit one of the shelves on the wall with his head. He was slumped over against the wall with a nasty gash on the top of his head. His blonde hair has streaks of blood in it now.

"Let's try and get out of here before someone else comes looking for these two." Aurora said putting Jozy on her back and heading for the door. I took one last look at the men before following my sister out into what had to have been the most extravagant houses I had ever seen.

The hallway was cream with gold accents and maroon tapestry. I gawked at they dark brown wooden floors that were shiny enough to see yourself in. If the tapestry and gold accents didn't scream fancy than the huge crystal chandelier did. It hovered over a marble spiral staircase.

"What is this place? Mafia headquarters?" Aurora muttered starting down the staircase. She was looking at every detail just as I was. I was stunned at the magnitude of this place.

"I don't know but this place is crazy." I replied. We reached the bottom of the stairs when we heard voices coming from what I thought to be the living room.

We all darted to an open closet adjacent to the stairs. I closed the door part way to be able to still hear and look outside. I swear you could hear all of our breaths get caught in our throats as we saw a group of men dressed in dark slacks and a white collared shirt.

This has to be some kind of gang or mafia. It has to be why else the fancy house and fancy clothes.

"Where's Alex? I thought he was supposed to bring the girl down. Alpha is going to get impatient the longer it is before he sees her." One of the guys mentioned.

They were starting to go up the stairs.

"Yea but she was asleep it's not like they can just wake her up. That's just rude." Another replied. We all listened until their voices got softer and softer.

I looked over at Aurora who nodded once the cover was clear to open the closet door. I slowly opened the door. Peeking around the door I made sure the cover was clear. I waved for Aurora to head to the door. I was quick behind them. She threw open the door and ran outside. I was close behind. Just as I was about to make my leap of freedom through to doorway the door was thrown shut. I slide to a halt nearly slamming my whole body against the door.

I reached for the doorknob expecting it to open. I don't know why I should have expected this when I heard someone clear their throat next to me.

I stopped what I was doing and froze.

I dropped my arms to myself and squeezed my eyes shut.

"You aren't leaving already now are you?" It was that smooth and deep voice I heard the night before.

It was Caleb.
