"I don't know a lot but I know you and I are meant to be."

Song- Paper rings; Taylor swift

Im asleep when I hear my phone ringing. Begrudgingly I pick it up and see Marlees name on the screen. Worry shoots through me so I sit up and quickly answer it.

"Pizza Hut?" She asks when the call connects.

"Marlee?" I whisper, confusion swimming through my mind.

"Cameron?" Her voice was muffled and her words were slurred. She's drunk, really drunk. "I didn't know you worked at Pizza Hut."

"I don't."

"Then why do you have their phone?" She questions before gasping "did you steal it? That's mean Cam."

"No, I didn't steal it." I chuckle, running a hand through my hair. "You called me"

"Well then I have to go, I have a very important call to make." She declares, before I can protest she hangs up. I try to call back but she hangs up on me so I get out of bed and quickly get dressed.

When I get to her house I notice all the lights are off besides hers. I walk over to her window and tap on it. I hear some talking but she doesn't open it so I slide it open when Charlie is thrown across the room onto the floor.

"Shit" I mutter when I hit my leg on the house trying to climb in. I hear her hop off of her bed and run to the window, almost falling out.

"Cami!" She squeal, jumping out of the window into my arms. I catch her, stumbling slightly but steadying myself. "Why are you here?"

"You called me" I tell her, deciding mot to sit her down since she's not wearing shoes.

"I did, I don't remember." She says confused before erupting into a fit of laughter. I see Charlottes car in the driveway and decide it would be better if she didn't get caught so I carry her to my truck, Marlee laughing the whole time.

"How much have you had to drink?" I ask, buckling her up.

"Only like this much." She outreaches her arms as far as she can.

"I can tell." I get into the drivers side and start the truck.

"Where are we going? Can we get pizza?!" She looks at me with a childlike expression. I smile to myself seeing her so carefree and happy. Then I realize something must've happened that lead her to drinking.

"Why did you drink?"

"Well because I wanted to." She nods defiantly. "And I had a bad dream, a real scary one. It was not fun."

"I thought you weren't having anymore nightmares." I say, driving down the road.

"Me too." She giggles, poking my cheek. "Hey Cam?"

"Yeah Lee?" I stop at a read light and look at her.

"I really like you, like a whole bunch." She tells me "like so so so much, you're my favorite person."

"You're my favorite person too." I chuckle, noticing the light turning green.

"Are you sure? Because sometimes I think you don't like me. I have way too many problems so I don't know why you would." Her bottom lip pokes out slightly. I pull the truck over and look at her.

"Hey, look at me." I place a hand on her face and turn her to me. "No matter how many problems you have I will always like you. Don't ever think I would, okay?"

She ponders for a second, tapping her chin. "Okay" she pauses and smiles again "now can we get pizza?"

We stop at a 24 hour pizza place and grab a box. Marlee tries to jump on the table and talk to everyone there, which is a surprisingly large crowd for this late, but I grab her and bring her outside. We get back in my truck and eat.

"You know what?" She mumbles with pizza sauce dripping off of her chin. I grab a napkin and wipe it off.

"What?"

"I never liked Serena. Not just because she was a bitch." She informs me. "I didn't like her because she could kiss you and I couldn't. It wasn't fair. She's still a bitch though."

"Well you can kiss me all you want now." I say, she blushes for the first time that I've ever notice and looks away. Once we finish our pizza Marlee cried because she wants more before falling asleep on my shoulder.

I take her back to her house and climb through the window with her which was a big challenge. I'm tucking her into bed when her bedroom door creeks open. I see Grayson walk in and I freeze. He looks around the room, noticing Marlee passed out and the half drunken bottle of alcohol.

"What happened?" He sighs, sitting next to her on the bed and throwing a blanket over her that I straighten up.

"Nightmare." I tell him, sitting next to him.

"I thought those were gone."

"So did I." We both look at Marlee who's peacefully sleeping and I know we're thinking the same thing. She's been through too much and deserves so much more.

"Hey Cam?" Grayson snaps me out of my thoughts. I look to him "thank you for always taking care of her, she's lucky to have you."

"Always." I ruffle his hair which I know he hates. "Besides, I'm lucky to have her."

Grayson goes back to his room and I set up a pallet on the floor next to her. After locking her door and changing into some of my clothes that she stole, I lay down. I hear Marlee rustle in bed.

"Cam."

"Yeah?"

"I'm gonna throw up."

I grab the trash can and hold her hair back as she releases the pizza we ate early and the alcohol. When she's finished I leave her room and wet a wash rag to wipe her face. She lays back down and sighs.

"Will you sleep up here?" Her bright blue eyes peer up at me making it impossible to say no, not that I want to.

"Of course." I kiss her head and get in bed next o her. She curls into me, her fingers tracing patterns in my chest. When she stills and her breathing hollows I know she's asleep so I close my eyes and drift off.
