"You drew memories in my mind I could never erase. You painted colors in my heart I could never replace" -Perry poetry

Song- Do I wanna know?; Artic monkeys

I walk into my house with paint all over my hands from my latest art project. The house seemed to be empty so I celebrated to myself before hearing a snort and seeing a lump of blankets move on the couch.

I reach over and yank them down to see Theo sleeping peacefully on the couch. So I do what any good sister would do.

I tackle him and scream "wake up" in his ear.

He groans and swats me away but I hit his head with a pillow. Finally, I roll onto the floor and he sits up with a large glare.

"What was that for?" He grumbles, rubbing his neck.

"Payback" I smirk, standing up off of the floor. "What time is mom going to be home?"

"Later tonight" he tells me as I sit on the couch next to him. "Wanna watch sponge-bob?!" He asks hopefully, with a childlike look of his face.

"What kinda question is that?" I question grabbing the remote "of course I do"

He laughs, nudging me shoulder. We spend the rest of the evening watching sponge-bob and goofing off until mom and Grayson get home. Then we all eat dinner on the couch while watching a movie.

I'm in my room when I hear a knock on my window. It was late and everyone else was asleep except me. I couldn't shut my mind off so instead I just stared at the celling.

Slowly I get out of bed and walk over to my window, knowing before I got there who it was. When I pull open my curtains I see Cameron in a black hoodie and messy hair. He mouths "open the window"

I slide it open and say "you know you're allowed to come during the day hours too." His hands wrap around the window seal and push himself up. "And there's a front door."

"But this is so much more fun" he smirks that usually makes me roll my eyes but this time I feel a certain uneasiness in my gut. Like butterflies fluttering around. I shake it off and roll my eyes.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, wrapping my arms around my stomach in order to calm my nerves.

"Get dressed, we're going for a drive." He opens my closet, throwing random clothes at me.

"No, you can go for a drive. I however-" I point to myself "-will be going to sleep"

"Come in Lee, just for a bit." He sticks out his bottom lip. I groan, shoving him back out the window.

"Let me get changed you perv" I say, shutting my curtains. Stripping off my pajama I throw on the random sweats and cropped hoodie he gave me. After that I threw my hair into a ponytail to avoid brushing it and opened my curtains.

"Okay, let's go." Cam helps me out of the window by planting both hands on my waist and lifting me down since my legs aren't long enough to reach the bottom like his.

When he sits me down I realize I forgot shoes. "Cam, I have to go back in. I forgot my shoes."

"I'll carry you" he tells me, bending down. I hop onto his back, wrapping my arms around his neck. His hands grip my thighs to keep me from falling.

I would walk across the yard but you never know what could be in it. We found Needles, glass and rusty nails before. Once Theo cut his foot so bad he had to go to the doctor.

When we get to his truck, he sets me in the passenger seat. He walks over to the other side and gets in. The roar of the engine sounds loudly, breaking the silence of the night around us.

He pulls onto the street and starts to drive. My leg jiggles, trying to shake the nerves. I've never been nervous around Cameron but now it's different.

Turning on the radio, a wide smile comes to my face as "Hollaback girl" starts playing. Cameron immediately turns it up so loud I'm sure we'd wake everyone up.

"I heard that you were talking shit and you didn't think that I would hear it!" Cam starts singing loudly. I loud laugh escapes my lips and my cheeks hurt from my smile.

"People hear you talking like that getting everyone fired up!" I sing along, Cam chuckles while taking a turn.

We continue to scream the rest of the song at the top of our lungs. Our faces were red and we were out of breath. Cams smile shrink as he stops the car in the middle of Main Street.

"We just gonna stop here?" I ask, looking at him as if he was insane.

"Nobodies out this late, we'll be fine." He waves me off before turning his body to face me. The music plays quietly in the background, shrinking the awkward tension slightly.

"What did you want to talk about?" I ask, pulling my knee to my chest.

"I wanted to say I'm sorry." He says.

"But you already did" I raise a brow in a confused way.

"I want to say sorry when I'm sober, so you know I mean it." He lets out a long breath of air. "So I'm sorry Marlee, I knew you were right and I knew you'd never lie to me I just didn't want to believe you."

"It's okay Cam" I tell him softly, placing my hand on his.

"And I'm sorry for last night, god I've messed up so much lately and I'm sorry." He runs a hand down his face, I can tell he's really beating himself up for this.

"Can we just go back to being Cam and Marlee, I miss us" I ask softly, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"Yeah, I would like that." He replies, placing a hand on my knee. We sit quietly for a minute before he perks up. "I have an idea"

He gets out of the truck, turning it off and walking to my side.

"What?" I cross my arms as he motions for me to get on his back.

"Get on, you don't have shoes" he tells me.

"You're gonna drop me" I pout, glancing at him suspiciously.

"Probably" he says before laughing "kidding, just get on"

"Fine, but if you drop me I won't hesitate to use my bat on you." I point a finger at him before wrapping my arms around his neck again. His hands grip around my thighs sending electric bolts through my body.

What is wrong with me tonight?

He pretends to drop me a couple time and I scold him in the middle of his laughing fits. He starts to run leading my gut to drop and my hair to fly back.

"Slow down, you're gonna drop me!" I squeal, squeezing my eyes shut.

"Relax Lee, I'm not gonna drop you." He holds onto my legs a little tighter to make me feel more supported.

We run down the street for a minute, goofing around until he finally gets to the place he wanted to take me. We were behind a old building, the light from the gas station lighting up the brick wall.

"Do you remember it?" Cam turns his head to look up at me.

"Yeah" I say breathlessly as he walks closer so I can touch the wall. The spray painted outline of Cam, Bri, Theo and Miles along with our initials in each of our outlines.

I think back to the sunny summer day during the summer of 7th grade year. It was the first time I've ever graffitied anything before. We all helped trace each other and fill it in with dripping colors.

The bright light from the gas station makes the painting look neon. I graze my fingers over the small outline of me, much shorter than now. We all were so much tinier and carefree.

"I forgot about this place" I tell him, admiring the picture. Even though the painting had no faces and was just an outline I could remember the smiles we had.

The pure joy we all felt and adrenaline as we did something we knew we weren't supposed to. We ended the day with smoothies and sitting on the side walk, sipping on them and talking.

"I did too, I remembered it when I was getting gas the other day." He tells me, his hazel eyes meeting mine. "I'm still surprised we got Miles and Brianna to do this with us"

"Me too" I giggle "Miles not as much since I had longer to corrupt him but I'd only known Bri for a year"

"They were so nervous" he reminisces, his dimples popping out of his cheeks.

"They kept saying we were going to get arrested." I add "I don't think Jeff could've caught us back then, he's slow."

"I think Ella could outrun him" He pinches my thigh, I yelp and slap his head. "Wanna get slushy's"

"Only if I can get skittles too" I stick my bottom lip out, pleading. He sighs and nods so I point forward and say "onward!" In a bossy voice.

We sit in the front of Cams truck, sipping on our blue slushy's and splitting a pack of skittles. I take all the red and purple since those are the only colors I like and he takes the other 3 since those are the ones he likes.

Every time one of us would get skittles when we were little we would save the flavors we didn't like for the other to eat. Our lips were blue from the slushy's and my feet were propped up on the dashboard.

"So" I say, turning to him "how'd you find out?"

He looks from my face to straight forward, taking another sip of his drink. "She's been acting different for a while now. Always disappearing, having randomly hickeys, texting someone all the time"

I feel my anger slowly grow inside me.

"But when you told me I refused to believe it" he strums his fingers on the steering wheel. "Then I went to surprise her at her house the other night, and a guy from the football team was their."

I wonder, picturing Cam walking into his girlfriend cheating. I place a hand on his knee and smile sympathetically "I'm sorry Cam"

"I'm not, it was time for it to be over. I should've ended it long ago." He faces me, his lips slightly parted and his brows draws together.

"Then why didn't you?" I question, feeling my heart beat faster.

"Because then I would have to face something that I didn't think I was ready to face." He tells me breathlessly, moving closer. "But now I know I am."

"And what's that?" I whisper as if I spoke to loud the universe would hear and tear us apart.

And it did.

My phone rings and we both jump back. I grab it, spotting Theo's face pop up on my screen. I answer, pressing the phone to my ear.

"Hello?" I say into the phone, trying to stop my face from turning red.

"Are you alive?" Theo demands, his voice muffled.

"No, I'm a ghost." I reply sarcastically.

"Well, I woke up and you weren't there so I wanted to make sure you didn't get kidnapped and sold to the drug cartel or something" He explains.

"You've been watching too much true crime" I tease, popping a skittle Cam hands to me, into my mouth.

"Whatever, where are you?"

"Cam and I went on a drive, We're heading home now." I scratch my nose and he starts driving down the street.

"Okay, where did mom put the Oreos?"

"It's like 3 am, what do you need Oreos for?" I hear Cam laugh beside me so I whack his knee.

"Duh, my 3 am snack!" He says as if everyone has a 3 am snack. He has a midnight snack and a 5am snack too. I think he snacks more than he breathes.

"Don't eat all the food in the house, I'll be home in a minute." I tell him before hanging up. "I have no idea how I shared the womb with him"

"Me either, that's why you're so short." he tells me, turning down my street "he stole all your nutrients"

My jaw drops and I gasp "that bitch! You mean to tell me I've been 2 inches tall my entire life because of my fat ass twin?!"

"Yep" He nods his head, handing me the last red skittle. I open the truck door and hop down, barefoot.

"Are you going home or staying here?" I ask him, leaning against the door and grabbing my empty slushy cup.

"Gotta watch El's in the morning, mom has a appointment." He explains, I slam the door shut and he rolls down the window. "See you tomorrow Lee."

"Bye Loser" I wave and turn to walk inside. He waits until I'm in my house before he drives off.

I throw my cup away in the kitchen before plopping onto the couch and falling asleep right away.
