Adrien's pov

Nothing. I have nothing. When I was little, none of the other kids cared that I didn't have my soulmate line, but now they do.

Everyone else has the first thing their soulmate will say to them on their arm, but I don't.

My parents wouldn't let me out of the house because of it, but things have actually gotten better since my mom left. Before I was only allowed to leave the house for emergencies, which never happened. Now that mom is gone, father's assistant has been able to convince him to let me go to a normal school on a few conditions; I have to always wear long sleeves, ovoid all conversations able soulmates, o have to change for PE in the bathroom and even then where a long sleeved under shirt and I'm not allowed to have friends over or go to their house.

These rules were honestly much better than never being able to leave the house at all, but they weren't much fun. All I knew was that today was my first day of public school and I'm super excited.

I wore a black shirt with 6 colored stripes on the front, blue skinny jeans, orange converse of my father's design and a long white button up I wore as a jacket.

When I got to school, Natalie reminded me of the rules as if I'd forget.

I got out of the car and walked to my first class. At the start of role I stood and raised my hand when the teacher said my name and everyone laughed except one girl.

Throughout the class I noticed that the teacher was constantly making strange hand gestures, so I asked my desk partner.

"What is the teacher doing with her hands?"

"She's using sign language dude. We have a deaf girl is our class."

"We do?"

"Front row, pigtails. I'm Nino by the way."

"I'm Adrien."

After long classes I was ready for lunch. I wanted to talk to the deaf girl, Marinette. I grabbed my notebook and two pens as I began to search the crowd for her. When I saw her she was smiling and what I assumed was signing to the girl next to her. I walked over to her and wrote 'hello' on my notebook.

She smiled and wrote 'hello, I'm Marinette'. For the majority of lunch we talked like this until the bell rang.

"Goodbye Marinette. Oh darn!" I wrote on goodbye my notebook and left.

Later that day, the girl Marinette had been talking to, Alya, came up to me.

"He Adrien. So I'm going to tell you this since Mari won't, but we're pretty sure you're Marinette's soulmate because I heard what you said at lunch and that's what's on her arm. She kinda got cheated in the whole 'soulmate's first word spoken to you' department. Basically I want to know what yours says."

"I... I... I don't have one."

"Perfect. That means your soulmate doesn't talk. So they're either mute or a deaf who doesn't talk like Mari."

After school it started to rain. I saw Marinette standing in he rain so I stood next to her, covering her wrong my umbrella. I handed her a note I had wrote during the day and she read it. When she finished reading she looked at me with a smile and nodded.

When my driver got to the school, I gave Mari my umbrella and ran to the car. The next day I came to school with my sleeves rolled up and 'hello, I'm Marinette written on my arm.
