Authors note: what would Hades do when an intruder breaks into their home?
Enjoy!
*platter platter*
Persephone slowly woke up to the sounds of soft pattering rain against their roof. The cold air gave her an involuntary shiver, and she shifted closer to Hades. His warm, broad arm squeezed her into a hug against his chest.
She instantly sighed and smiled, placing a light kiss onto Hades' bicep. She felt a pair of genial lips press against the top of her head with a soft kiss.
*patter patter*
"Everything okay, sweetness?" His rumbling voice spoke aloud, disrupting the quietness.
She nodded and lifted her head to face him, still smiling.
She felt something off though... an unusual feeling. Like something was... never mind. Strange, but she decided not to worry about it.
A gentle hand cupped Persephone's cheek and kissed her lips. Persephone gladly reciprocated the kiss and completely discarded any previous thoughts, only thinking of the amazing man beside her.
It was long, and sweet. They were close, Hades pulling her on top of him and wrapping his arms around her like a second blanket, one hand tangled in Persephone's hair to pull her closer to him.
*patter patter*
Persephone pulled back and rested her head on his shoulder, still laying on his chest, tracing his faintly glowing scars. Her eyes closed and she allowed the peaceful sensation of sleep take over.
*CRASH*
What was that?! She thought, eyes shooting open.
*thump thump thump*
Persephone's ichor went cold. Someone was here, and they were coming closer.
She shook Hades awake, "H-Hades! Wake up!" She whispered in between panicked breaths, "S-someone's here!"
—
Hades felt the comforting sensation of sleep being ripped away as his goddess shook him awake.
"S-Someone's here!" Her terrified voice whispered to him.

"What? Sweetheart, what are you-"
*CRASH!!*
Hades instantly sat up, squeezing Persephone close to him, her figure shaking uncontrollably. He looked down, seeing her face buried into his chest. He lifted her chin up with one hand.
"W-what if it's A-Apollo?" She said with watery eyes.
His heart clenched. He really doubted it was, but the terror in her eyes was so real, that he started to believe that it just might be.
"Sweetness, it's gonna be okay. I'm gonna go check it out, you're safe, okay? I promise I won't let anything happen to you."
His eyes flashed a deep blood red. Whoever had the guts to break into their home in the middle of the night and terrify his little goddess was going to painfully regret it. And if it really was Apollo, gods help his soul... he'll definitely need it.
He stood from the bed to leave, but Persephone tugged on his arm and pulled him into a hug.
"Be careful... please." She told him.
"Don't worry, my love, it'll be fine. Wait here, okay?"
She nodded and watched his normally cool blue tone change into a deep, marvelous navy with glowing stars and light outlining his muscular figure. He stepped into the hallway and descended down the stairway.
—
Hades was ready to send whoever dared to break in to Tartarus. He thumped down the hall and heard another crash. It seemed like it was coming from.. the kitchen?
He walked a little faster, summoning his bident with a whisper.
"Come out, and do hurry up, the process will be much quicker and painless," he paused, tracing the humming prongs of his bident with a finger, "Well... for the most part." He gave a wicked smile.
Hades casually walked into the kitchen, where another crash had come from.

"When I find you, you will suffer eternally in Tartarus for scaring my love. Come out now, and I may spare you of something possibly much worse along with that. If not, then I'll just have to find you myself, and trust me, it will not be fun."
He heard a whimper from under the bar and crept towards it.
"Hmm?" He questioned.
He got closer and melted at the sight.
There, sat an adorable, (but very disheveled-looking) border collie puppy, shuffling around some of Cordon Bleu's dog food. The pup was wet and muddy with its tongue sticking out. She had what looked like was supposed to be a white coat with black splotches here and there.
"Oh you poor thing!" Hades said as he approached the frail creature, immediately forgoing his terrifying form and bident for his usual appearance. "You must be starved!"
He walked over to the counter, avoiding all the scattered pots and pans the puppy had dropped and placed her in the sink.
"You little troublemaker," he chuckled as he rinsed the mud off the puppy. Her tail wagged a bit, but she was still angry with the water. Hades placed a hand on her head to prevent water from coming in her ears as he scrubbed her fur clean.
"There, better?" He asked the shaking puppy.
*platter platter.. BOOM*
"Well, the storm's getting worse. I wonder why Zeus is so upset, if it's affecting the Underworld, it must be pretty bad." He commented as he dried the puppy off.
"Well princess, you're looking beautiful." Hades told the puppy with a smile and a pat to her head. She shook the excess water off and let out a small yap.
"How'd you get in here though?"
He walked over to his front door, and it was open.
"Must've been Cerberus I think," he chuckled, "you almost gave mom and me a heart attack, little one!"
He closed and locked the door. "Now," he said, cradling the puppy, "let's get to mommy, she'll be happy to see that it was just you!"
Hades padded down the hall and entered his bedroom. "Persephone, love? I have the intruder, and I think you'd like to meet her." He says with a smirk.
Persephone unwrapped herself from the burrito of blankets she made, "Where...?" She asked hesitantly.
Hades smiled and held up the fluffy bundle of energy.
"Awwww!" Persephone cooed as she instantly fell towards them. "You're such a pretty girl! What are you doing here?" She said in a soft and gentle voice, almost a whisper. She reached out and scratched behind the puppy's ears.
"She is quite something, destroyed the kitchen and super muddy, aren't you?" Hades said as he pulled the puppy to his face for a quick kiss on the forehead.
Persephone laughed and reached out for the puppy, cradling it gently in her arms. "She's so perfect!"
"That she is," he smiled at her joy, "Let's get to bed, we do have work tomorrow." Hades said. They all climbed into their bed and Hades folded his arms over Persephone and sighed as he drifted off to sleep

Modern Magic
A Modern Magician BookI looked up at the crooked holo sign while the perfectly bred woman read from a paper, a plastic smile glued to her face.'Welcome to The City,' she said in a fake voice. 'Once formerly known as New York, The City is a place filled with ancient and modern wonders. Remember, if you see any magicians please report to the nearest police station or Black Hand officer.'I smiled at the sign and then raised a single finger. No, not the middle one. A blue misty light spun from my finger and into the holo device. The message quickly changed from the fake woman to one of my own.'Welcome to The City,' the woman read, her hair now dyed a fuchsia. Her eyelids were a dark blue and her bottom lip and right eyebrow were pierced. 'A special message from Hecate, queen of magic.' The woman looked up at me, a smirk playing on her lips. 'Welcome to my city.'
