you eyes fluttered open. you turned to look at the clock. 8:35AM, saturday.

you groan and sit up. why did the dream had to end?

you can't like richie. i mean, what would people think? you had heard people saying that him and your other friends were the 'losers' of the school, and that they were called 'the losers club'.

you thought about him. the big glasses that made him look so nerdy and adorable. his dark curls that blow in the wind as hes riding his bike. his smile, and his lips that felt so soft when you two kissed..

you roll around in bed and get up. you walk to the bathroom and wash your face. you walk back to your room and pick out your outfit. hmm, what were you gonna do today? maybe you'll call bev and ask if she wants to do something.

you picked out and outfit that was cute, and that you could do activities in.

you had just put your dress on when you heard the phone ring. your first thought was richie.

you rushed over to your bedside table and answered the phone.

'hello?' you answered.

'hey buttons' you heard richie say.

'hey richie. what are you doing today?'

'hopefully you'

'your nauseating.'

he doesn't say anything.

'shit richie, are you smirking? i know you are!'

'you know me too well. do you wanna go to the movie drive in tonight?' (you are 16 in this lol)

'sure. i heard top gun is going, you wanna watch it?'

'ew, cheesy ass romantic movie.'

'hey your the one who wanted to go out!'

'whatever. i'll pick you up at 6.'

fuck. its 9AM, what are you supposed to do for the next hours? well, you could start with some breakfast.

you ran downstairs and walked into the kitchen.

'good morning' your mom says. 'any plans for today?'

'yeah, im going to the movie drive in tonight, with richie.' you say. mom raises her eyebrows. 'richie huh? is he your boyfriend?' she asks, teasing you.

you roll your eyes. 'hey mom, i need some money..' your start to say and your mom furrows her eyebrows.

'uhm, i got my period yesterday and i ran out of pads..'

'oh, well' she hands you a 10 dollar bill. 'here you go. but don't buy anything else okay!'

'thanks mom' you say as you grab and apple and rush out the door.

you decided to not take your bike as it wasn't a long walk to the pharmacy and it wasn't really cold outside.

you approached the pharmacy and started fidgeting with the dollar bill. you pushed through the door and tried to look for the feminine products. you walked around the pharmacy but didn't find it. you didn't want to ask the receptionist, because he was a guy, and that would just be awkward.

'ill see you later dad' you hear a voice say. you immediately recognised it. gretta.

you turned and took the object that was closest to you and started fidgeting with it.

you kept your eyes down until you heard the door close and immediately put the object down. you rushed to where you had heard gretta and saw a shelf filled with feminine products. you sighed in relief and took a box of pads. they were 10 dollars, so you could afford them.

you walked to the counter to pay, as you saw eddie. he turned around and you two locked eyes. you quickly hid the box of pads behind your back.

'hey y/n' he says.

'hiiiiiii eddie..' you say awkwardly. 'so watcha doing here?'

'oh nothing, just getting a re fill.' he says.

'okay, cool..' you say while slowly moving towards the counter to pay. eddie keeps his eyes on you as you place the box of pads on the counter. his eyes widen and you look down in embarrassment.

'okay that will be 10 dollars miss' the old man behind the counter says. you hand him the 10 dollar bill and he takes it, and then you storm off. you can hear eddie yelling your name behind you.

'y/n! Y/N!'

'what?!' you turn around.

'uh, you forgot these' he says while handing you the box of pads, plus the receipt. your face becomes red and you slowly take them.

'hey its okay y/n, it happens to everyone' he says as you walk out the pharmacy and into the warm spring morning. 'or, not everyone. just girls'

you chuckle as you two sit down on a bench.

'hey eddie?' you say.

'yeah?' he answers.

you put a strand of hair behind your ear. 'uhm.. could you not like, tell any of the others about.. this? i just don't feel comfortable sharing it to.. you know.. boys.'

'yeah! no i won't tell anyone!!' he says quickly. you could tell that he thought it was embarrassing talking about it.

there was an awkward silence. until eddie said: 'so, whats your plans for today?'

'i dont think i have anything planned..' you say, but then you remember: 'right! richie and i are going to the movie drive in to watch top gun.'

'wait, the drive in?' he asks. you nod. 'at lovers lake?' he asks again.

'i guess so, theres only one drive in, right?' you say.

he laughs.

'what? what is it?' you ask in confusion.

'lovers lake is the place where EVERY couple goes to make out. and the drive in is an even more popular destination, if you plan on getting freaky in richies car..' he says, chuckling.

you hit him in the side. 'ew, thats gross. IF hes planning on doing something, i will not let him.' you say. 'and i'm 100% sure he doesn't like me that way.'

eddie blurts out laughing. after he calms down, he says: 'HE KISSED YOU Y/N!! AND ASKED YOU OUT!!!!'

you shrug your shoulders. 'yeah, well he does that with every girl, right?'

'well, he flirts with them every now and then. but that was before you came. often the other girls tell him to cut the bullshit and leave them alone, but your the first one who doesn't.. dislike him.' eddie says.

'why are you saying that? you don't even know if i like him' you say.

'y/n. are you serious? if you could see yourself in a mirror. you have a big smile across your face and your cheeks are rosy. and, who are we talking about? oh right! richie!!' eddie says.

'okay, i like him. but that doesn't mean that he does so too.' you say.

'mhm sure. i bet you'll walk into school holding hands on monday' he says.

you roll your eyes and stand up. 'what time is it?' you ask.

he looks down at the watch around his wrist. 'its 11:09AM.' he says.

'shit. i need to go home' you say. 'my moms gonna wonder what took so long.'

'oh okay. bye y/n. and good luck on your hot date' he says while wiggling his eyebrows.

you roll your eyes and walk home. you get home and the first thing you see is your mom standing on your porch.

'what on earth took you so long y/n?' she says.

'i met eddie at the pharmacy and we talked for a while' you answer.

she squints her eyes. 'okay. what did you buy?'

you show her the box of pads.

'how much did that cost?'

'10 dollars' you say, looking down.

'can i see the receipt?' she says.

you give her a confused look before reaching down your pocket and giving her the receipt before walking up the stairs.

you walk into the bathroom and change your pad. (yeah yeah ok we know you pee)

you walked back downstairs and decided to boil some pasta since it was time for lunch. you finished the pasta, put it on a plate and snuck to your room. you searched through your vinyls before finding the one your were looking for, TOTO IV by toto.

you placed it on your records player and sat down on your bed. you ate your pasta and started to feel sleepy. you put your plate down on your bedside table and layed down. a nap wouldn't hurt, right? richie was picking you up in 6 hours, so you had plenty of time to kill.

your eyelids got heavier and heavier and you eventually fell asleep, with africa playing in the background.
