《She-Wolf》Pressure Test
Advertisement
At Gerard's hunter HQ, two young werewolves - Jiang and Tierney, and Theo are tied to a metal scissor gate while former Eichen House orderly Schrader pokes them with a high-voltage taser stick. The two new werewolves keep telling him they'll never give him any information and aren't afraid to die, but Schrader says he doesn't have any questions for them. Theo says he's not with them and will cooperate in any way necessary.
Schrader throws a bucket of water on them and then electrifies the entire gate. Theo tries to reason with Schrader, offering again to help him, but Schrader continues to shock them. Theo says if they make it out alive he'll kill the werewolves himself.
Then, realizing that the electricity is beginning to melt through the plastic handcuffs holding the prisoners to the gate. He begins to taunt Schrader, reminding him of his sadistic treatment of the patients at Eichen House and calling him a psycho and a freak. Schrader dials the electricity up to 11. The surge burns through the cuffs and Theo breaks free. He easily incapacitates Schrader and straps him to the metal gate.
The three of them hear a growl from the hallway and turn to be met with Elias. The older werewolf eyes the Eichen Orderly and turns to the trio with a raised eyebrow.
"I suppose you didn't need my help, then," he smirks and embraces the two young werewolves.
"You're just gonna leave him here?" The girl then asks Theo with a glance at Schrader.
"Him and you," Theo replies.
"We didn't need your help anyway," the boy counters.
"Come on. I want to put a couple hundred miles between us and this place by dawn," Elias announces.
"You got a car?" Theo asks. Elias eyes him and then grabs the keys from the desk.
"No... But he does."
Theo notices the man's tattoo and recognizes it as the pack symbol Liz has on her wrist. The one she got before Selene and Scott became alpha's. "You're part of Satomi's pack-- the Buddhist Werewolves."
"Satomi's dead. We don't have an Alpha or a pack anymore. Why do you care, anyway?" The boy explains.
"Oh, I don't," Theo says barely disguising his frown. "Does Selene know her mom is dead yet?"
"You know Selene?" Elias asks. "Do you know where she is?"
"I might..." Theo says eyeing the car keys. Elias looks at them then at the two young werewolves behind him and hands over the keys. As they leave, Theo dials the electricity on the gate up to 11 again and Schrader screams in pain as the voltage courses through his body.
Later, Sheriff Stilinski arrives in a parking lot and arrests Theo, and the strays. He says the charge is murder.
~~~
An orderly opens the gate to the special ward at Eichen House to allow Dr. Deaton inside. He quickly closes it behind the vet claiming he'll go no further. Deaton asks if he'll need a weapon. The orderly says they stopped allowing them in this part of the hospital because people tended to kill themselves after only thirty seconds of exposure to whatever is down there.
Alan makes it only a few feet down the corridor before he is struck with overwhelming dread. He manages to fight through it and into the cell Halwyn called home for more than a hundred years. Still terrified, he manages to find a crack in the wall and begins prying at the plaster and underlying stone. After about 35 seconds he emerges from the cell with a piece of stone with something carved into it.
~~~
The four werewolves ended up in the holding cell at the Sheriff's station. The boy sits on the ground, the girl lays on the stone bench while resting her head on Elias's lap as the older werewolf sits with his head in his hand.
"I had nothing to do with this! Hello? Come on!" Theo loudly proclaims. "Who did you kill? Was it you? You? Both of you? Who's the murderer? All right, I get it. The longer you stay quiet, the better. Right? But you're here for murder. And they're keeping me here, too. But you're the murderers."
"We're not murderers!" the boy yells.
"Jiang..." both of his companions warn.
"If you'd been there, you'd know we didn't have a choice. They came after us."
"Jiang, shut up!" the girl yells. She turns to Theo, knowing full well he got what he wanted. Theo looks up with a smirk.
"We good?" he yells and Parrish gets him out of the cell.
As Theo walks up to the desk to get discharged, Liz walks up to him in furious strides. "Li-" Before he can ask anything he's met with a punch in the face. Parrish has to hold in his laughter.
"What the hell!?" Theo is quickly back on his feet.
"That's my family in there, you... you ass!"
Theo glares at her while holding his nose that's still dripping blood. "Well, your family killed someone,"
"Oh! That's rich coming from you!" Her finger pushes him back, the place where she pushes right over his heart. Well, not his heart. Was it a low blow? Yes. Did she care at that moment? Not particularly. Theo's confidence breaks and the look on his face seems to bring Liz back to her senses. She simply sighs and turns around to the Sheriff's office while Theo stares after her.
~~~
"I'm not letting them out. We've got two bodies covered in slash marks. They confessed to killing two people," the Sheriff explains.
"Hunters," Scott corrects.
"People, Scott. Self-defense or not, they're still here. The other guys are dead."
"So is Lori," Selene counters. "And so is my mom. Maybe so might Brett be. You know what's happening around here. It's not safe for them."
"This may actually be the safest place for them in Beacon Hills. At least I can protect them here,"
"Would Stiles think that?" Lydia points out.
"Especially if one of your deputies is working for Gerard?" Malia brings up.
"I'm not buying that. I know these deputies like the back of my hand. I know their families, their kids, their brothers and sisters... I know who they are, and I trust them." The Sheriff argues.
"You know who they were. There's something out there. Everyone's afraid, and it's getting worse." Liam reminds him.
"Yeah, you can't protect two Werewolves from Hunters if they're already on the inside," Scott adds.
"It's Quinn, right? You sure it was a deputy who shot you? Absolutely one-hundred-percent sure?" The Sheriff asks the girl who nods.
~~~
Parrish is processing Theo's release when the chimera hears hunters surrounding the building outside.
~~~
"I saw flashing lights... a police car... I-I saw a badge, a gun, and then they shot me. They shot me in the head. And that's all I remember," Quinn explains.
"There are a couple holes in her story," The Sheriff points out.
"Maybe because there's a hole in her head," Lydia counters. Malia laughs and everyone turns to her in bewilderment and disappointment.
"I'm sorry,"
"Sheriff, we need to get Jiang and Tierney out here before anyone realizes that they're here," Selene almost begs.
"And take them where? I can't let them go," the Sheriff counters.
"But if you keep them here, they're..." Lights flash and cut Lydia's sentence off. Everyone turns to the window.
~~~~
Tamora Monroe and a dozen well-armed hunters are waiting there. The sheriff orders all his officers to put their weapons away and get away from the windows. He disarms himself and prepares to go outside to seek a peaceful resolution. Parrish wants to go with him but he orders him to check the exits to see if they're completely surrounded and tells him to watch his fellow officers to make sure they're all on the same side.
He and Monroe face off. The hunters brandish their weapons, cocking shotguns.
~~~
Malia suddenly gets overwhelmed with fear.
"We have to get out of here," Malia announces.
"Give him a chance. He knows what he's doing," Scott counters.
"I am giving him a chance. He can talk all he wants, but we have to get the hell out of here,"
"How do we get Jiang and Tierney out?" Liam asks.
"Screw them. It's Stilinski's job." Malia replies.
"But it's our job to keep them alive," Scott points out.
The door opens and reveals Theo. "Not mine."
"Do you want me to just kill him?" Liam asks and Selene grabs his arm to stop him.
"No, just leave him. Can we please just go?" Malia practically begs.
"We're not going anywhere. Don't you get it? We're trapped. They have all the windows and doors covered. We're going to die in here," Quinn points out.
"Does someone want to kill her?" Theo asks.
"I might," Liz grumbles. Selene and Theo raise an eyebrow in her direction.
"Malia, hey. Take a breath. You're shaking," Scott notices as he grabs her wrist.
"I'm fine."
"Guys, there's only a dozen of them out there. We can take them!" Lydia informs.
"Scott, they're the last of my mom's pack. We can't leave them behind." Selene turns to Scott.
"Okay. We go. But Jiang and Tierney are coming with us."
~~~
Corey is in the school library trying to figure out what came out of the Wild Hunt when they all escaped back in the spring. Mason urges him to go back to his math homework saying "figuring out stuff is my thing." His boyfriend says he needs a thing too but Mason points out that Corey has the "invisibility thing," which is a good thing. Corey feels guilty for just standing by as Liam got his ass kicked. Mason says Liam healed but Corey points out that Mason would not if he were the target next time. Corey is worried about the coming war between supernaturals and humans. He says he's pretty sure supernaturals will win. He worries about what that means for his love.
Mason takes charge of the conversation. He says the whole thing is about fear and they need to find what's causing it. They decide to start at the beginning with the first manifestation of the uncontrollable fear, the wolves in the woods.
~~~
The sheriff attempts to reason with Monroe saying that the judicial system will take care of the two murder suspects. She scoffs that "Justice is about fairness" and there's nothing fair about a werewolf versus a human. Gabe and Nolan are watching nearby. The sheriff says if she thinks he's handing two kids over to a lynch mob, it'll be a short conversation.
~~~
Liam keys the jail cell open and tells Jiang and Tierney that he's getting them out. He rushes out of the room, but they don't follow. He returns to see why they're still in the cell. They say they can hear the hunters outside. Liam says their choice is to either come with him or be locked in a cell if the hunters get inside. They follow him out.
~~~
Outside, Monroe uses the description of a "subduction zone" where two tectonic plates crash into one another as an analogy of their current situation. She says either the pressure of the crash is relieved in small bursts of energy or one massively destructive earthquake. She says they need to release the pressure of the current situation. He balks once again at handing over his prisoners to be murdered. Monroe says she's the only thing stopping the hunters from storming the station. She says all the sheriff has to do is hand over Jiang and Tierney to avoid a bloodbath.
~~~
The Pack prepare to storm outside but before they can, the sheriff comes back inside.
"Nobody's going anywhere," he tells them.
"I can get through them," Liz points out.
"We're not gonna fire the first shot," the sheriff counters. "Now, get back from the door. All of you. Parrish, get these two back in their cell."
"What happened?" Selene asks.
"She gave us 'til midnight."
~~~
The deputies and Scott's Pack prepare for a siege by moving metal desks and cabinets in front of the doors and windows. Deputies load their weapons as the Sheriff and Parrish discuss the pros and cons of calling for outside help. Any person they call risks exposing Scott and the other supernaturals, and, if backup arrived and saw werewolves, they wouldn't know the good guys from the bad. They also fear that one of their deputies is a secret hunter.
~~~
The hunters are apparently jamming the cell phone signals around the Sheriff's office. The department two-way radio also doesn't work. Lydia tells Quinn that there's not really a jammer that could do that suggesting someone inside the station sabotaged it. Suddenly the power goes out.
"How easy is it to cut the power in a Sheriff's station?" Malia asks.
"Too easy!" Deputy Vargas says as she throws Nolan on the floor. Selene frowns at the scene before holding out her arm to hold Liam back.
"Throw him out!" The young beta immediately yells.
"No, you can't. Okay? Please, don't! She'll know I screwed up," Nolan begs. Selene tilts her head to the side while looking over Nolan.
"He's with them."
"Liam-" Scott tries.
"He's a liar, and he's sick in the head,"
"And now he's under arrest. Lock him up," The sheriff orders.
~~~
Parrish handcuffs Nolan to the bench in front of the holding cells.
"Nolan?" Jiang recognises the boy.
"Jiang? What are you doing here?"
"Arrested for murder. How about you?"
~~~
Theo drags Liz into the bathroom.
"Monroe's not gonna stop. Nothing we say is gonna make them get in their cars and drive away. Those three losers killed Hunters-"
"-Who killed their pack. My pack. And those three losers are my family so I'd be careful with your words or I'll break your nose again."
"So, what? I mean, Monroe's gonna tear through anything standing between her and them. That means you, Liam, Selene, and Scott. You gonna watch your friends die?"
"Are you gonna watch Hunters murder them? Elias, Jiang and Tierney weren't the only ones that were part of Satomi's pack. A pack that not so long ago was mine!"
"Yeah. Right. The hit-and-run. Sorry if I'm not losing sleep over some random road kill."
"She was murdered! Lori. She didn't have anything to do with this. She just wanted to find her brother,"
"So, what? You think saving these three is gonna make everything feel better? Your dead friends are dead, and they're gonna stay dead no matter what you do."
"Unlike you, when I do something good, I don't do it to make up for my mistakes!"
Theo recoiled. "I think I would've preferred you broke my nose."
Liz sighs. "I'm sorry. I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm just... on edge I suppose." Suddenly their eyes meet, both wide with realisation.
~~~
"I almost didn't recognize you." Jiang almost laughs at it.
"It's been five years. A lot can change. I mean, the last time I saw you, you were human," Nolan counters.
"I'm still human."
"Did you do it?"
"They killed my family."
"Don't you mean your pack?"
"Looks like I'm not the only one who's changed."
"Yeah, I think I'd prefer to be a monster than be willing to commit murder. Truly, who's morals are more questionable?" Selene announces her presence. "Now, you've had you're chance. I was going to make a more badass entrence and kick your ass but you're taking to long."
"What- What are you talking about?" Nolan feigns ignorance.
Selene doesn't look impressed. "Really? Honey, I'm going to be honest with you, my patience has been at a low level for the last couple of days and I'd really rather not deal with your bullshit than have to bruise your pretty face. Now, get up and hand it over,"
~~~
Noah is incensed because Monroe said they had until midnight. Parrish says the grenade came from inside the station. Deputy Vargas is holding the pin from the grenade as she watches the chaos.
Selene approaches with Nolan in tow and Scott raises an eyebrow. Selene holds up a vial with purple liquid.
"He was trying to kill them, it's purple wolfsbane." She hands Nolan over to the shocked Scott. "You take care of that. I need questions answered,"
~~~
"Selene, we can explain." Elias says immediately. Selene raises an eyebrow at that.
"I certainly hope you can." She scoffs. "What did you think I was gonna do, turn you over to Monroe?"
"They came after us," Jiang begins.
"Yes, I got that,"
"Your mother didn't want to fight," Elias continues. "We were on the run for two days, but they were everywhere. Then it was just us, hiding in the storm drain while Satomi tried to talk to them. But they didn't want to talk. She died so we could keep running."
Scott had found his way into the room too. He could see the silent pain Selene was experiencing although he doubted the others could recognize the sorrow she hid so well. "And then?"
"We stopped running and we started hunting them instead," Tierney continues. Selene raises an eyebrow. "It's not hard to use public records to find where someone lives. All you need is a name."
Selene hums. "Were they the ones that killed my mom? Or anyone for that matter?"
"Does it matter?"
"Would I be asking the question if it didn't?" Her eyes seem to bore into each of their souls which isprobably the reason none met her eyes. It was answer enough. She got up and followed Scott out.
~~~
Corey and Mason get caught after breaking into the vet clinic to find the body of one of the dead wolves. Deaton is cool about it but says they should have knocked. He brings out the corpse of one of the wolves and they examine it for anything the fear creature might have left behind. Deaton realizes they're looking for whatever came out of the Wild Hunt and is intrigued that they believe it started with the wolf because he had the same thought.
Deaton says his examination showed nothing about the creature, so he started looking for more information on Halwyn since he's the one who imprisoned it. He reveals the piece of etched stone he found at Eichen House. He says it appears to be a dead end but Corey says there's another side to the picture.
~~~
"Sel-"
"I'm not prepared to run, Scott," She interrupted him. "I can't run. I feel like if I run when I stop and turn around I'll find everyone I love dead. And I can't do that, I can't lose you and I can't lose Brett,"
"I know," he pulls her into a hug and she nearly breaks.
~~~
Parrish tells a fellow deputy to watch Nolan after he handcuffs the boy to the chair. Once Parrish leaves, the other deputy no longer sees Nolan. Instead, the faceless bloody lump is in the boy's place.
~~~
Outside, Tamora Monroe offers encouraging words as Gabe aims a crossbow at the station. He says Gerard taught him to inhale, breathe out slowly, and fire right before you run out of breath. Gabe wonders how he's supposed to kill anyone inside the station from outside. Monroe says the point isn't to kill anyone, it's to send a message.
~~~
Scott tells the sheriff that he can't save Jiang and Tierney from their fates because they've killed innocent people. Noah says it doesn't matter because in war you have to kill people and they won't always be guilty or innocent. In war, there's only your side and the other side.
"Selene, say something," Scott drags her into the conversation.
"I can't,"
"What?"
"You want to know what I think Scott? I think you'll wait until you almost lose something important to you before you start fighting back and I can't do that because I've lot too many people all ready,"
