《She-Wolf》Blitzkrieg

In Nazi Germany in 1943, Hauptman (now known as Garrett Douglas) tries to convince a group of fellow officers to help him capture the Wild Hunt. He believes the supernatural riders are just what the "Ahnenerbe" is looking for because an army of the dead cannot be broken like an army of the living. His book claims the "Ghost Riders of the Storm" are "masters of infinite power." Hauptman says the dead riders are in the Ruhr Valley. Feldmarschall Schulz (Stephan Goldbach) mocks his plan to capture the "unstoppable army" and Hauptman slashes his throat with his claws.

Sheriff Stilinski is in Stiles' room holding his lacrosse jersey. As he touches the empty bookcases, a ball of red yarn and a box of thumbtacks appears. When he picks them up, a corkboard appears on the wall behind him. Inspired, Noah pins some string to the corkboard and stretches the string across the nearby wall. When he turns back, pictures and newspaper clippings have appeared on the corkboard. He repeats the process, running string to the various walls, attaching it to the floor, and across the room. As he does this, all of Stiles' possessions become visible including his bed, his murder board, his desk, clothes, and artwork.
Finally, once everything is once again where it belongs, Noah notices a photo on the corkboard. It's Stiles and Claudia in a hospital. He takes the photo down from the board.
~~~
Lydia, Scott, Malia, Brett, Cheryl and Peter are at the Sheriff's station.
"You're going to bite Stiles?" Cheryl asks as if she can't believe her ears.
"To get him through the rift. It's the only way," Scott explains.
"Just to clarify, are you planning on biting everyone in the train station?" Peter asks.
"With Stiles and Selene back, he'll be able to help us figure out a plan," Scott continues. Cheryl and Brett share a look.
"He's good at that," Malia agrees.
"So, the plan is to get Stiles to come up with a plan?" Peter asks.
"You can shut up now."
"Malia, look around. We're the only ones left in Beacon Hills. If they take us, Lydia will be the only one left to haunt the place."
"Thanks for the reminder, I needed it," Brett comments sarcastically.
"That's why I'm the only person that's going in. Liam, Liz and Hayden will stay here with Mason. As long as somebody is left in Beacon Hills, the Wild Hunt can't move on." Scott explains.
"I like your plan, Scott, I really do, especially the part about turning Stiles. But it can't work," Peter counters.
"How do you know?" Malia asks.
"Logic? Life experience? Liam, what are the odds that he'll get taken? What if Stiles isn't there? What if there's no Beacon Hills for you to come back to?" Peter questions. "Also, Selene is also over there. She's smarter than you obviously and I'm sure she's thought of biting Stiles too... The fact that they're not here should speak for itself."
"You got a better idea?" Liam asks.
"Yeah. It's called 'run like hell.' So, leave in five?"
"You promised you'd help us. We still need to find the rift," Malia reminds him.
"I didn't promise I'd help you commit suicide," Peter counters.
"You promised you'd help us. Basically the same thing at this point," Cheryl says and Peter turns to her. "What?"
"If you can't help, we can find it ourselves," Scott says ignoring Cheryl's comment.
"Scott, I admit that you have a flair for beating the odds, but this, you don't walk away from-- you run," Peter says and does just that.
"Well, some wasn't wearing his rose-coloured glasses today," Brett comments.
Melissa, Reed and Argent follow Parrish's tracks back to the stone cottage where the pack captured the rider. Melissa examines the body.
"Why take a Ghost Rider's pineal gland?" Reed asks.
"So I could use this," A voice suddenly says. Reed and Argent turn around quickly. Douglas flicks the rider's whip and knocks the gun from Argent's hand.
"What do you want?" Reed asks.
"Not our pineal gland, I hope. We're still using them," Mellisa says.
"I want you to help me find a Hellhound," Douglas replies.
"You were tracking him. You lost his scent," Argent realises. He shoots a look at Reed who shakes his head nearly unnoticably.
"I found him on you, which tells me..." Douglas starts.
"Nothing. I can't help you," Argent replies.
"That's too bad. Then I have no use for you." Argent spots his gun on the ground and hesitates before lunging for it, only to be grabbed in a chokehold by Douglas as Melissa shrieks in fear as Reed pushes her behind him. "Not fast enough."
Reed growls. Douglas turns to him almost mockingly. He tightens his hold on Argent's neck without breaking eye contact with the young supernatural.
"We'll do it. We'll do it. Just let him go," Mellisa complies. "Let him go!" Douglas lets go of Argent.
"Thank you for volunteering, Herr Argent,"
Mason and Hayden drive through the woods. They've found Corey's phone. Mason says it's a "relic" meaning they know he's been erased. He flips through the pictures on the phone and realizes that they're all of him and Corey. Hayden says that's because Corey loves him.
~~~
Scott, Malia, Brett, Cheryl and Lydia trek through the woods in search of the rift where Peter came out.
"When you were here before, how long until the Ghost Riders showed up?" Scott asks.
"A couple minutes," Malia replies.
"That's reassuring," Brett and Lydia comment at the same time.
"What's a rift supposed to look like?"
"If it's a tear in the fabric of our world, theoretically, it could look like anything from a microscopic black hole to a free-floating Einstein-Rosen bridge," Lydia answers. She looks up at the sky. "I really hope it's not up there,"
"Let's split up," Scott decides. They start to split up but Scott immediately notices a pipe leading underground. The bars over the pipe entrance are bent outward and the ground is littered with dead leaves like those that herald the arrival of the riders. "Hey, look at this."
"The rift's not above us..." Brett starts.
"It's below."

Hayden, Mason, Liz and Liam are holed up at the Sheriff's station.
"So, we should stay here. Is that what you're thinking?" Hayden asks.
"It doesn't matter where we are. We still need to figure out how to fight them," Liam states.
"No one can fight them," Hayden reminds him. Liz suddenly perks up in realisation.
"That's not true," She disagrees.
Theo speaks up from the nearby holding cell he's been locked in. "She's right. Douglas can,"
"Does he need to stay in there?" Mason asks.
"He's still Theo," Hayden replies.
"Theo saved Scott and Liz, remember?" Theo comments irritably. Liam gets up and walks over to the cell.
"Why did you save Liz, huh? Last time I checked you don't care about anyone but yourself," Liam reminds Theo. The chimaera's eyes shoot over to Liz for a second before finding Liam's again.
Advertisement
"Really?" Theo asks and seems to ask the same question with his facial expression. "I just figured you'd rather see your captured Ghost Rider dead than your local witch."
"Is that so?"
"Look I just got back from hell and you think I'm gonna become all kissy-face with someone? It's not like that." Then Theo frowns and smirks at Liam while walking closer to the bars of the cell. "And even if it was like that, you have no right to get all jealous about it anyway. You're with Hayden, are you not?"
"You-!" Liam walks even closer to the cell as if he's going to punch Theo through the bars.
"Liam!" Liz yells and pulls him back. "He's not worth wasting our time on."
"Time we should spend figuring out how to fight the Ghost Riders," Hayden interjects. Liz seems a bit annoyed about Hayden inserting herself in the conversation so suddenly.
"You don't need to figure it out," Theo remarks.
"Because Douglas already did," Liam realises.
"If he knew how to fight them, then he might know everything about them," Hayden remarks.
"And guess who knows all about Mr Douglas?" Theo asks.

In the tunnels below the pipe.
"I can't see a thing," Lydia complains.
"It's got to be down here somewhere," Scott says.
They reach a junction in the tunnels. Malia turns right at the fork to see if anything is there. She makes it a few steps before she immediately smacks into the rift so hard that she bounces off and is thrown backwards. The rift is clear green, blue, and purple and seems to be swirling a foot or two above the ground.
"It's remarkably similar," Brett notes.
"To what?" Malia asks.
"To the Einstein-Rosen bridge," Lydia replies.
~~~
"That's never going to happen. We're not making that deal," Mason says after hearing Theo's proposal.
"I hold all the cards," Theo reminds them.
"You're locked in a jailcell. You hold no cards."
"You want me to tell you about Douglas? Break the sword."
"Does anyone else want to do the negotiating?" Mason turns around. Liam and Liz step forward.
"Break the sword."
"I'll break the sword. I'll break it right in-" Hayden threatens.
"Hayden..." Liam warns.
"You break, I talk," Theo explains the simplicity of the situation. Liz eyes the sword in Liam's hand. She and Liam look at each other as if having a silent conversation. "Come on, guys. Look, I don't want in anyone's pack. I don't want anyone's power. I just wanna stay alive."
"How do we know if we let you out, you won't run?" Hayden asks.
"'Cause we're not letting him out. He's going to tell us from in there," Liz concludes, looking away from Liam and raising an eyebrow at Theo in question for his response.
"I'm still going to need some incentive," Theo agrees. Liam and Liz look at each other again. Liz nods. Liam sighs and pulls Kira's katana out of its scabbard. He hesitates for a moment before he turns it blade-down and twists the grip, causing the blade to shatter into pieces just as it did the last time Kira's dad did so in The Sword and the Spirit. Theo smirks smugly.
"He's a Löwenmensch," Theo begins.
"Really? And I thought that was the only mythical creature that didn't actually exist, what the hell Europe," Liz mumbles angrily.
"WHat the hell is a Löwenmensch?" Hayden asks.
"Werelion basically. The name comes from this ivory statue that's said to be the oldest zoomorphic sculpture ever," Liz explains.
"Zoomorphic?"
"It has zoo and morph in it's name, think,"
"He was a part of the Ahnenerbe, Himmler's personal project to use the occult to win the war," Theo continues.
In the woods of Germany, soldiers, tanks, and other vehicles assemble. They use Geiger counters to gauge changes in background radiation.
Grenadier Abel says they should all flee. He then describes the coming of the Ghost Riders via storm and how they rode the horses. He says they were unnatural. Someone shouts and Douglas realizes they are close. He says Abel has done well and that "the Führer" will be pleased.
Douglas approaches the rift and touches it. It sizzles under his hand. He turns to Abel and says thank you for volunteering. He then pulls his gun and forces the man through the rift. He passes through the barrier and nothing happens at first. Then, suddenly, he bursts into green flames and is burned to death.
The Ghost Riders crash through the rift. The soldiers open fire but it has little effect. The rider leaps from his horse and fires, two-fisted. Soldiers disappear in flashes of green smoke. Another rider appears via lightning and begins taking out more men. Douglas stands his ground and growls at the rider who cracks his whip in the German's direction. Douglas runs but is caught across the back by the whip and infected by supernatural properties.
~~~
"Douglas didn't beat a Ghost Rider. He ran," Liam comments.
"We broke the sword for nothing," Hayden realises.
"Wait, if that was back in 1943, where's he been all this time?" Mason asks.
"Douglas kept looking. He found a scientist he thought could help him... Three of them," Theo explains.
~~~
The Dread Doctors fight against Douglas, who is no match for their power. The Dread Doctors manage to pin Douglas down on the table, inject him with a sedative, chain him up, and wrap up his body in chains before putting a breathing mask on him and dumping him into a tank of the Dread Doctors' green serum. The lash wound on Douglas' back has still not healed, and he continues to bleed while he is submerged.
~~~
"The Ghost Rider's whip didn't go deep enough to take him, but it left a gash on his back. He was thrown into the tank and the wound infected the water. It mixed with the fluid in the vat, and actually made him stronger-- soaking it in, absorbing the power for seventy years. So, he came out with the power of an Alpha, a Löwenmensch, and a Ghost Rider. A side effect no one could expect," Theo explains.
"So he can fight them. He could stop them," Hayden points out.
"Have you been paying attention?" Liz asks. "I doubt he's going to stop any of them."
"The Nazis lost the war. Why is he still obsessed? What does he want an army for?" Liam asks.
"He doesn't want it for them. He wants it for himself-- his own personal supernatural army," Mason realises.
"We need to warn Scott," Liam concludes.
~~~
Melissa, Reed and Argent have just arrived at the bunker with Douglas, who rushes in when he sees Parrish has put himself into a trance-like state in the freezer to prevent the Ghost Riders from using him to hurt his loved ones.
"Der Höllenhund," Douglas sounds impressed by Parrish's mere existence. Behind him, Reed and Argent share a knowing look as Douglas tries to figure out how to turn the machine off. Argent slowly reaches over to where he has a rifle leaning against one of the work benches while Douglas flips all of the switches on the freezer. However, after a moment, he freezes and smirks to himself.
"You know what the best part about being a Werewolf is? Supernatural hearing." Douglas turns and growls at the two with his blue-green eyes, claws, and fangs out, before lunging toward them. Argent fires off several shots, which all hit him in the chest with such force that he's thrown backward onto another workbench.
"Did you hear that?" Argent yells sarcastically.
"Uhm, best thing is supernatural healing so uh unless you can shoot another fifty round into seconds I suggest we run or something," Reed points out as Douglas gets up. Reed turns around, his eyes glowing and claws and hangs bared.
Douglas leaps over the table, aiming to slam the Hunter against the nearby wall. Reed knocks him out of the air. Argent tries to reload his weapon, and Melissa, seeing an opportunity, rushes over to the freezer in hopes of waking Parrish up so he can stop Douglas.
When Douglas gets back to his feet, Melissa looks back at Argent and Reed, she realizes that he will not be able to reload quickly enough to save them. He gives her a devastated look. Meanwhile Reed lays in a puddle of his own blood.
"I'm sorry," Argent says.
"No..." Mellisa whispers. Douglas uses his Ghost Rider whip to capture Argent and Reed and send them to the Phantom Train Station while Melissa desperately tries to get Parrish to come out of his trance. "Parrish! Parrish! Parrish, wake up!"
"That was very brave... But pointless," Douglas points out.
"Just crack the whip."
Douglas smirks and does just that, capturing Melissa for the Wild Hunt as well. He then approaches the freezer, his eyes still glowing greenish-blue as he addresses Cerberus.
"Steigend, Höllenhund! " When Parrish doesn't respond, Douglas screams the order even louder while cracking his whip. "STEIGEND! " Just then, Parrish's eyes finally open to reveal their usual flame-like orange-red color has been replaced by the same greenish-blue glowing eyes that Douglas now has, indicating that Parrish is now under his control.
~~~
"Yeah, Liam, come on. We gotta hurry," Mason points out.
"We can still find him," Liam replies. Suddenly, a Ghost Rider appears, having teleported through a bolt of lightning, and stands menacingly in the doorway. Mason, Liam, Liz and Hayden are frozen in fear for a long moment, and just as Mason was about to run away, the Ghost Rider cracks his whip, which wraps itself around Mason's throat. "No!"
"Liam, run!" The Ghost Rider yanks on the whip, causing Mason to be transported to the Phantom Train Station. Furious, Liam partially transforms with his claws, fangs, and glowing gold eyes, roaring at the Ghost Rider before he leaps toward him. Liam and the Ghost Rider begin to fight.
"Liam!" Liz yells. Another Ghost Rider appears and Liz pushes him against a wall with magic. "We have to get to Scott!"
Just as Liam, Liz and Hayden were about to stop fighting and run to warn their Alpha, the Ghost Rider cracks his whip and wraps it around Hayden's left wrist, much to Liam's horror. Liam and Hayden both grab onto the whip so the Rider can't use it to capture Hayden, but even together their strength isn't enough to do anything but slow him down.
Liz gets distracted and the other Ghost Rider manages to free himself. She can hear the whip crack and turns. She quickly dodges but loses her balance in the process.
Hayden and Liam were almost close to breaking his hold when another Ghost Rider appears, having ridden the lightning into the station, and pulls his own whip out to hit Liam. However, Hayden reaches her hand out to protect him, causing the whip to wrap around her right wrist as well, causing both Ghost Riders to yank on her arms from either side.
Liam uses all of his strength to keep them from capturing Hayden, too. He looks over at Liz to find her hurt with whiplashes on her arm, her cheek and her side. None of the wounds were deep enough to take her. Liam realises her luck might soon run out.
"Liam... You have to find Scott," Hayden tells him.
"I'm not leaving you," Liam protests and looks over at Liz.
"You have to. You can save me on the other side." Liam, torn between what he knows he needs to do and what he wants to do, gives Hayden a desperate look. "I believe in you."
"I love you."
"Then go."
Liam hesitates for a moment before groaning and letting go of the whips, rushing out into the next room. He grabs Liz on the way and stops to take one last look at Hayden, who looks him in the eyes before she allows herself to be taken. Liam is devastated as he and Liz run to go find Scott.
~~~
Malia has a steel pipe that she's trying to push through the rift. The end glows a bright orange as it melts against the almost invisible barrier.
"There's gotta be another way. We just need to think," Lydia says.
"Think?" Malia asks incredulously.
"Yeah... Think about how to get through a supernatural rift that melts steel, piece of cake," Brett comments sarcastically. Lydia gives him a look. He half shrug when he stops, turns and growls. Douglas is behind them with a patronizing expression.
"It doesn't have to be so hard," Douglas points out.
Advent of the Mindfire Mage: A Challenger's Return Story
Updates MWF, 6PM EST! Not so long ago, a story was posted on Webnovel, one that fired my imagination unlike almost anything before or since. It was known as The Challenger's Return: Rebirth of the Rainbow Mage. However, 150 chapters in, the author NightWind, who I'd personally interacted with and begun to consider a true friend, vanished from the internet without a trace. And so, I have acted upon my fervent desire to pick up his torch, to refuse to let his world that stirred such passion in me die. Read below about my own take on The Challenger's Return. Was Lheticus summoned to the Tower by chance, or by choice? Either way, with the new power he wins, he won't hesitate to burn anyone who seeks to keep him from his true love to cinders, and with a unique ability of the highest potential, he may just succeed, but he's just as likely to burn himself down. And as it turns out, the latter case may be woven into his very destiny...can that destiny be changed? And if it is, what will be the repercussions for the Tower? (You may want to read a fair amount of the original Challenger's Return before starting this, as, particularly in the early chapters, many things that are laid out in it are glossed over in this story.)
