《She-Wolf》Relics part iii

At the lacrosse field, the players are ready to play as a huge crowd of people cheers them on. Scott, Liam and Corey arrive to the field, dressed to play.
"I'll stay with Steinbach and Wallace," Scott says "You stay with Gwen," he tells Liam. "And you with Okafur," he says to Corey.
"What if I see the Ghost Riders?" Corey asks.
"Yell. And get ready to fight," Scott replies. The referee blows his whistle to start the game. Okabur gets the ball and runs toward the goal but one player of the Bulldog team knocks Corey, right next to Okafur, much to his annoyance, and steals the ball.
"Find your own space," Okafur tells Corey. The player that took the ball from Okafur runs toward the goal of Beacon Hills, throws the ball and scores, giving the Bulldogs the advantage.
Gwen and another player from the Bulldogs face off and the referee blows his whistle to start the play again. Gwen takes out the ball but Liam goes against her and both of them fall on the ground and groan in pain. Gwen takes out her helmet.
"Do you wanna backoff?" She asks Liam. Liam stands on the ground with a confused look and the player of the Bulldogs with number "2" runs toward the goal of Beacon Hills and throws the ball and scores. Now the Bulldogs are winning 2-0, much to Coach and everyone cheering Beacon Hills' disappointment. Next, Wallace or Steinbach gets the ball but Scott bumps into them and the three of them fall on the ground, much to Wallace and Steinbach's annoyance.
"C'mon, man. There's no ghost in here, McCall," Steinbach points out. The Bulldogs score again, making the result 3-0, much to Coach Finstock's anger.
"What are you doing out there?! I'm gonna kill the three of you," Coach yells. Coach goes to see what's wrong with Scott, Liam and Corey. In the stands, Sydney and Lorilee are sitting next to each other and Mason and Liz are right under them.
"Do these guys ever practice?" Lori asks.
"Not enough," Sydney replies. Mason looks still nervous if he can find something that can stop the Ghost Riders.
"It's the first period," Sydney tries to reassure Mason.
"They can still win," Lori agrees.
~~~
"How do you know that they can't get in and shoot all of us? I'll never graduate. I'll never do anything. This is it!" Jayden concludes.
"Give me the stun gun," Malia says.
"Can you think of a better, less-seizure inducing way?" Argent asks.
"Don't any of you get it?! We are never leaving this place," Jayden continues.
"Jayden. It's okay. Before they get in here, they got to go through us," Malia tells her.
"What if that's not enough?"
"No one is getting through that door," Malia says and then realises something. "Nathan's missing,"
~~~
As the game continues Mason remembers the party and that the Ghostriders left after Parrish showed up and yelled at them. As he is overjoyed by his discovery he cheers in joy. Unlucky for him it was at the same time that the opposing team scores a point, making people think he's cheering for them.
~~~
Malia and Argent walk through the bunker and find a vent that's opened. They look at each other, both realising what this means.
~~~
As everyone seems to become more violent the Coach is overjoyed with Liam doing the same.
"What's gotten into everyone?" Liam asks Scott. Scott looks around trying to find the answer on one of the angry faces.
"What if it's the Wild Hunt? What if it's affecting everyone?" Scott realises
"It's Parrish! He's the reason the Ghost Rider left the party," Mason tells Hayden and Liz who also seemed to be worrying about the aggression on the field.
"Parrish?" They both ask.
"Call on your sister. Tell her we need to meet Parrish at the school right now."
"What about Gwen? What about the other players? We have to keep them safe," Hayden points out.
"Parrish could keep everyone safe," Mason tells them. Liz frowns and looks at the sky as rain begins to pour down.
"I hope for all of our sake that you're right, Mason," She says.
"They're here, Liam!" Scott yells.
"I see them!" Liam yells back as the Ghostriders gallop onto the field.
~~~
"What happens if he gets out?" Malia asks.
"He'll break the seal," Argent replies.
"This way," Malia says after picking up on his sent.
~~~
As the referee blows his whistle stopping the game because of the rampaging weather Coach protests but no one listens. Scott, Liam, Corey and the lacrosse players gather in the middle of the field.
"Okay. We've got all three, right?" Scott asks.
"Scott, there were four," Liam points out as everyone stares at a certain spot. Scott realises something must be going on so he grabs Corey's wrist. One of the Ghostriders is riding over the field dragging the other player behind him.
~~~
"Why did you call me?" Parrish asks.
"The Ghost Riders are afraid of you," Hayden answers immediately.
"What? How do you know?" He asks.
"Really? We don't and this is guesswork that if it goes wrong will kill you," Liz says in a way that makes it clear she doesn't like this plan.
"You're the reason he left Gwen. You can stop them. We need you. The other you," Mason explains, ignoring what Liz said.
~~~
"You were good back there with Jayden," Argent tells her.
"Thanks. I still want to kill Nathan," Malia confesses.
"At this point, so do I. Which way?"
"This way,"
~~~
More people end up seeing the Ghostriders and quickly run away, leaving those who don't see anything confused. "Oh my God! They're real. We got to get out of here." Okafor realises.
"Stay together, we'll protect you," Liam says.
"How?" Gwen asks.
"Run!" Scott yells when he realises they can't fight them. He grabs Corey's wrist to see the Ghostriders and realises they're surrounded.
"Stay close!" Liam says.
"I can still see them!" Scott says after he lets go of Corey's wrist and the Ghostriders are still visible to him. Liam lets his eyes glow their golden colour and tackles one of the Ghostriders off of their horse. "Liam!" Scott also lets his eyes glow red and growls.
"We can't stop them!" Liam yells after the two other players get shot.
"Protect Gwen!"
~~~
"You want what?!" Melissa yells and Lydia, Brett and Natalie give her a pointed look.

"Shhhh, you're in a hospital," Brett scolds her and Lydia and Melissa roll their eyes.
"You want what?" Melissa asks again, on a normal tone this time.
"Claudia's medical records. Just for a minute. We know it's a lot to ask," Lydia replies.
"It's up there. It's way up there," Melissa points out.
"As the more recently enlightened of the two of us, just trust me. There are lives at stake," Natalie tells her.
"Letting the three of you look at private medical records is completely and utterly against hospital regulations," Melissa explains to them.
"So we better make this quick," Reed says as he walks up to them.
"Where the hell did you come from?" Brett asks with a smile.
"My mother's uterus I'd guess. Now get your asses moving,"
~~~
"You lost it?" Argent asks as Malia stops suddenly.
"No. I don't know. Maybe. It's like he's right here," Malia explains confused.
"But no Nathan,"
"He's still here. I know it." She says and looks around for an explanation. She walks close to the wall and realises he's on the other side. "Nathan. I know you're there,"
"How?" Nathan replies.
"Stay put. We're coming to get you," Argent says.
"No, you're not!"
"He's moving. You need to stop running. You're gonna lead them right to us! Nathan!" Malia yells before she starts running after him. She stops and turns to Argent. "Shoot him!"
"Did you listen to my story?"
"Just clip him. You clipped me,"
"You healed. Come on. We're wasting time,"
~~~
A woman runs into the Highschool as a Ghostrider follows her. Liz, Mason, Hayden and Parrish run towards the hallway to see the woman and the Ghostrider. The Ghostrider aims his gun and Liz runs forward. She reaches just in time to pull the woman to the ground so the bullet misses her.
"Run!" She tells the woman who doesn't think twice and quickly gets up. The Ghostrider walks towards Liz and she crawls backwards to try and getaway. As he fires the gun at her she holds up her hand. "Subsisto!" The bullet stops in mid-air and Liz stares at it surprised. Suddenly she gets pulled up and pushed back by Parrish.
"Stay back!" he tells them. Parrish's eyes resemble flowing ambers as his clothes burn away. His body becomes engulfed in flames and he charges at the Ghostrider. The Ghostrider seems unbothered and simply points his gun at the Hellhound.
"Parrish! Stop!" Liz yells as the Ghostrider shoots Parrish. The orange flames turn green as Parrish drops to the ground. Hayden lets her eyes glow gold and she flicks her claws. As she prepares to charge at the Ghostrider he disappears with a lightning strike.
~~~
The Ghostriders circle the three as they try to protect Gwen. Gwen suddenly moves away from their protection and gives the Ghostriders a clear shot. One of the Ghostriders shoots her before the trio notice what's going on. Scott catches the shot Gwen who then disappears in a cloud of green smoke.
~~~
"Nathan! Nathan!" Argent yells.
"We can keep you safe!" Malia adds.
"Bull. I'm out of here," Nathan says and climbs up the ladder before they can stop him. He opens the hatch and gets killed by a Ghostrider instantly.
~~~
"Sorry, guys. According to her medical records, Claudia never had children," Melissa says.
"Wait a minute that doesn't seem right," Brett suddenly remarks and Reed checks the screen.
"Frontotemporal Dementia? You're right, that just doesn't make sense," he agrees.
"There must be a mistake," Melissa remarks.
"How long ago? She seems fine now," Natalie asks.
"10 years? I'm surprised she's still alive, honestly. It's a miracle,"
"That's more than a miracle. How the hell did she survive that with only two operations?" Brett points out.
~~~
Liam, Liz, Mason, Hayden and Corey approach Scott who just finished calling Malia and turns to them.
"Everyone in the bunker has been taken," Scott explains.
"Everyone? How?" Mason asks.
"What does that matter now," Liz remarks and sighs.
"Malia is at the hospital. Argent's been hurt. My mom and Reed are with them," Scott continues.
"Reed? Since when is he back? Is Cheryl with him?"
"Not that I'm aware,"
"He could've told me he was back in town," Liz grumbled and then looked over to a dejected Liam.
"Scott... Tonight-" Liam starts.
"No. Hey, it's not your fault. It's mine. We should have done both-- defend the bunker and use a lightning rod. It would have given us a better chance," Scott explains.
"You okay?" Mason asks.
"No," Liam replies.
"There he is. Look at that! The humility. The grace. Sure, that wasn't lacrosse we played out there tonight. That was la-crap! But you... You stayed on the field while the rest of these losers ran inside," Coach yells.
"Coach, we lost. We lost everything," Liam comments still looking dejected.
"Listen to the despair! The rage simmering underneath it! See that, people? He still thinks he can win. That's why next time, he will win. Because he will find a way. Now, show your new captain some love, you pukes! I said, "Show him some love!""
The team starts to chant Liam's name.
~~~
"Is he okay?" Scott asks as Melissa moves the hospital bed with Argent into a room.
"He has blunt force trauma to his temporal bone, three broken ribs, and multiple surface lacerations, which seem to be from whip marks? What he needs is a lot of rest," Melissa replies.
"What happened?" Lydia asks as she and Brett arrive in front of the room.
"The Ghost Riders took everyone. We barely slowed them down. Tell us you found something," Malia explains. Lydia and Brett share a look.
"We found out Claudia never had children. So, Stiles can't be her son. And we still have no leads on Selene," Brett replies.
"What about a relic? For either?" Brett and Lydia look away. "There never was a Stiles, was there? It doesn't even sound like a real name. And we still don't know anything about Selene,"
"We have to keep looking. Check the school records again, or call Scott's dad-" Lydia tries.
"We're fighting the wrong battle,"
"We're trying to bring Stiles and Selene back,"
"The Ghost Riders came back. We still have no way of stopping them. And whatever they are, they're real. We can't keep chasing two people who aren't,"
"They didn't leave anything behind... Just us," Brett comments. "But I can't give up on them. You guys can give up if you want. I'll prove she's real,"
Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com!
