《She-Wolf》Relics: part i

Its night time, a cricket chirps and an owl hoots. In the middle of the woods, Chris Argent is next to a tree. He hears a sound and prepares to shoot who did it with his rifle but then he puts it down when he realizes it's Melissa and Reed. Chris sighs in relief and exasperation.
"You might wanna think twice before you sneak up on a man holding a loaded M24," Argent points out.
"I wasn't sneaking up on you. I was catching up with you," Melissa replies and Reed snorts before shaking his head. Argent doesn't look at all surprised by this news as though he already knew she was close to him.
"Don't act like you didn't know. You probably heard her a mile back," Reed points out as he walks past Argent to get a look at the suroundings.
"I found a low branch with my face. How can you see anything around here?" Melissa explains and then asks.
"Practice. What're you doing, Melissa?"
"We thought maybe you could need some back-up. Which way?"
"We?" Reed questions with a raised eyebrow. Argent and Reed share a look, both clearly not wanting to put Melissa's life at risk.
"You can leave out here alone with a stun gun and a box of band-aids or we can just keep going. It's up to you." Argent and Reed seem to debate with their eyes before both sigh.
"You're probably wondering why I'm here when I could be nestled in at home reading a book. That's because I'm sick of seeing people that I care about wheeled past the nurse's station on a hammock. All of you are here risking your lives... and is about time for me to do something too." Both Reed and Argent turn to Melissa with a serious look.
"Who might experience, tracking homicidal supernaturals... is best to be quiet. Once Melissa promises to be quiet, Argent turns to his front and has his rifle to defend himself as Melissa keeps behind but bumps into Argent when he stops for a moment.
"What is it?" Melissa asks. Reed and Argent give her a pointed look and she repeats her words more quietly. "What is it?" Argent, Reed and Melissa walk toward what Argent saw and Melissa uses her lantern to see through the dark and they find a bike next to a tree and another one a few feet away from the first one. Chris and Melissa notice a bicycler in the floor and Melissa places her hand on him to check his pulse and verify if he's alive or dead.
"He's dead," Reed says without looking at the body as he seems to search the woods with his eyes. Melissa and Chris look at the bicycler, lamenting they couldn't do anything to save him until blood falls onto the boy's face. Melissa points her lantern to the tree where the blood fell and she and Chris see another bicycler, badly wounded. They gasp in shock and suddenly, the girl opens her eyes, revealing to be alive.
"It's okay. You're gonna be okay," Melissa reassures. The bicycler agitates and bleeds blood before she falls from the tree and lands on the ground, dead. Melissa points her lantern to bicycler's head and reveals wounds on her neck. She kneels down to get the girl's pulse, shaking her head.
"How could she survive like that?" Argent asks. Melissa and Reed look at each other.
"One, maybe two minutes," Melissa eventually answers. A sound makes both of them look up. Argent raises his gun but Reed signals him to wait.

"Is it a Werewolf?" Melissa asks.
"Werecoyote, actually. And she's coming right at us." Melissa notices Chris with his rifle pointed at Malia, realizing only one thing.
"You're not gonna hurt her, are you?" Melissa asks.
"No. I'm gonna wing her," Argent replies. Argent points his rifle at Malia and, with luck, shoots her, causing her to fall to the ground. The trio walks toward Malia and when they approach her, she is growling, turns around and reveals her blue eyes and fangs and roars at them. Melissa and Chris look a bit scared at Malia roaring at them.
Scott, Liam, Mason, Liz, Brett and Corey are all staring at the black spot of the ceiling that was originated last night by the Ghost Rider.
"That's how he got in?" Corey asks.
"What is it?" Liam asks.
"A Lichtenberg figure," Brett replies and Liam looks at him as if asking he's supposed to know now.
"It's a point of impact from a lightning strike. Usually, there are black spots that are found in the ground after a violent thunderstorm," Liz explains.
"That's how the Ghost Riders got in. He rode the lightning," Scott realises. Scott turns to the others, who also have surprised looks on their faces.
"If they can use lightning to pass the Mountain Ash..." Liam starts.
"No place is safe," Brett finishes.
"What about the others? It's my fault they're marked," Corey reminds them.
"We'll find a way to protect them. All of them," Scott says dramatically.

Melissa is using a pincer to remove Chris' bullet from Malia's leg. Malia suddenly wakes up with a roar of pain and Reed pushes her back down.
"Keep her still," Melissa instructs and Reed gives her a flabbergasted look.
"What do you think I'm trying to do? Hug her?" He asks which goes completely ignored by everyone.
"The morgue? I'm not dead yet," Malia points out.
"You're a werecoyote. It's private down here and this is going to hurt. Try not to roar," Melissa warns. Malia grabs Reed's arm to help her support the pain and he flinches before just ignoring it.
"What were you doing in the woods?" Reed then asks, as if to distract her.
"Running," She replies.
"At 2:00 AM?" Reed asks as if that's ridiculous.
"Coyotes are nocturnal. I heard screams-- like 'someone being murdered'-type screams," She explains.
"Did you see anything? Catch a scent?" Argent asks.
"Just blood. And that's all I remembered until someone SHOT ME!" Malia says as she grabs onto Reed's arm tighter.
"Hey! I didn't shoot you!" Reed complains.
"You were about to tear us apart," Melissa points out.
"It's not her fault. When a coyote smells a fresh kill, its senses are overcome. The blood drives it crazy," Reed explains grinding through his teeth.
"Sorry. It's pretty deep. I'm trying not to touch..." Malia claws dig even deeper into Reed's arm and he lets go of her as he pulls the pincer out of Melissa's hands and pulls the bullet out in one go.
"She'll heal anyway," Reed says and turns to face Argent. He puts the bullet in Argent's hands with a pained expression. "Here, your bullet back," He says while rubbing his arm.

Gwen opens her locker to keep her books in there and remembers the events from last night. Then, she turns around and everything goes in slow motion for a moment until Gwen looks at her locker and everything goes back to normal condition with Gwen still a bit shocked. Just as she closes her locker, Hayden appears next to her, smiling, leaving Gwen annoyed.

"You don't have to follow me around everywhere."
"I'm just trying to keep you safe."
"Are you going to assist to all of my classes? And what about after school? What about all night?"
"Wherever you go, I'll be there." They arrive at the women's bathroom and Hayden decides to let Gwen make her necessities.
"I'll just wait here." Gwen goes to the bathroom and Hayden leans against a wall and nods in negation.

At the library, Liam is reading a book while Mason, who sits next to him, is checking something on his laptop. Liz, who sits across from them is frowning as she looks at notes she made.
"The K Index quantifies disturbances in the horizontal component of Earth's magnetic field," Liam looks up confused at what he just read. Liz looks over and sees his expression, letting out a little chuckle.
"It's a scale that meteorologists use to measure thunderstorm activity. So, K index value less than 20 means no activity and above 35 is severe," Liz explains as if she knew Liam was about to ask.
"How bad is 'severe'?" He asks and Mason and Liz share a look. Liz looks over one of her notes.
"In the past three months, the average of Beacon Hills had five thousand," Liz says.
"Five thousand what?" Liam asks
"Lightning strikes. The average is a thousand," Mason explains.
"Which is the lecture now?" Liam asks.
"14. We're clear," Mason replies.
"If a spike in the K Index means more lightning... we could know if they're coming," Liam concludes.
"Yeah," Both agree.
"This is good."
"Yeah." Just as they keep happy for their discovery, Mason's computer starts beeping and K Index starts rising, leaving Mason with an anxious look.
"Actually... this is really bad."

At the hallway, Lydia shows Jake Sullivan's ID to Scott, Brett and Malia.
"It's a relic," Lydia realises.
"What's a relic?" Malia asks confused.
"An object with a fix association to the past. Jake's ID was left behind after he was taken and Gwen found her sister's bracelet on her bedroom floor," Brett explains and a small smile slips onto his lips but Malia seems to still be confused.
"How can someone be erased and still leave something behind?"
"Conservation of mass. The total of mass of any isolated system remains constant," Lydia replies.
"So the Ghost Riders have a weakness," Scott says happy with the discovery.
"A relic would be the prove that Stiles and Selene existed," Malia realises.
"And we could bring them back," Scott adds.
"We need to hide them," Mason says.
"We need to fight them," Liam counters.
"We need to do both," Liz adds.
"We need to hide them first," Scott and Brett walk into the library and share a confused look.
"Who's them?" Brett asks.
"The Ghost Riders."
"The kids from the party." Mason and Liam look at each other in confusion and exasperation while Scott stares at them blankly.
"Got it," Brett states with a pitiful look to Liz.
"We can get a lightning rod. Attract the Ghost Riders and catch them off guard," Liam explains.
"Since everyone from the party is in danger, all we need to do is find a safe place for them to hide until the storm passes," Mason also explains. Liam has an unoptimistic look on his face as they talked about this earlier.
"The Ghost Riders ride the lightning. Nowhere is safe,"
"Underground is." Everyone turns to face Brett after what he said as if asking for an explanation. "The Earth can ground lightning of electrical charges. Everyone would be safe."
"Okay," Scott says as he pulls a chair back and sits down on it. "Here's what we're gonna do. We take everyone to the Argent bunker underground." Liam shakes his head and Scott continues in defence. "It's lined with Mountain Ash."
"We stopped the Ghost Riders last night. We could do it again," Liam explains.
"We didn't stop them. They just retreated, we don't know why," Scott counters and Liz scoffs.
"I knew we shouldn't have comewith this to you." Brett is the first one who reacts to Liz's statement.
"Who else would you ask?" He asks.
"Selene," Liz says as if it's obvious before frowning. What had she just said. Everyone looks at each other confused.
"Liz, what did you mean?" Scott asks.
"I- I don't know. I just knew that Selene was the name. Who's Selene?" Liz asks.
"She's one of the people who might've been taken," Brett replies biting his lip in thought.
"One of the people who you're trying to bring back?"
"We're trying to bring everyone back," Scott replies.
"Sorry, one of the people we lost?" Liz corrects herself. There's a dramatic silence before Liam starts talking.
"Okay. But how we get them all to the bunker?" Liam changes the subject much to everyone's delight.
"I have an idea," Brett speaks up and everyone turns to him.

Mason, Liz and Liam reunite Nathan and the other lacrosse players next to the library. Nathan is holding a picture of the Ghost Rider and has an unconvinced look on his face.
"Is this a joke?" Nathan asks.
"No. And you have to take this seriously. We're all safe in the bunker," Liam replies.
"I'm not gonna miss the first game of the year so you can make captain."
"You tell people the truth one time," Liz mumbles under her breath.
"They're supernatural forces of nature that are coming to erase your soul," Liam counters.
"It was a man in a hat with a gun," Nathan replies and Liz sighs in annoyence.
"What you gotta do to keep people safe," She mumbles as Nathan and the other players turn around. "And he's coming back to shoot you in the head." Nathan stops in his tracks and his eyes are wide in fear.

Lydia shows Sheriff Stilinski Jake Sullivan's ID that was left behind when the Ghost Riders erased him.
"You wanna search my house?"
"People are leaving things behind. So if Stiles left anything..."
"Why it would be there?"
"You can't just erase people. They leave things behind." Sheriff doesn't appear to believe in Lydia's story, making him sigh in exasperation and he puts Jake's ID on his table.
"I couldn't sleep last night so... I got up to do some paperwork. The files were in the back of the car so I got to the garage and something flew off the shelf and I stubbed my toe on a baseball bat. Without thinking I yelled a name." Lydia looks shocked, apparently knowing the name Sheriff yelled.
"Stiles."

Liam, Liz and Hayden get everyone, including Nathan, in the underground tunnels, much to the students' confusion.
"Why are we underground?" Nathan asks.
"Because this is the way for the bunker," Hayden replies as if that should be obvious.
"You guys have a bunker? Who are you people?"
"We're the people who know things that most of the people don't know about," Liam replies.
"What?"
"Just get moving," Liz says.
"Guys, where's Gwen?" Hayden points out. Liam and Hayden walk toward the entrance and wonder that Gwen is still out there, somewhere, for the Ghost Riders to catch her.
Nathan and the other students arrive at the Argent Bunker and are impressed at all the stuff in there. Nathan finds a taser and shows interest in using it but Argent is also there.
"I wouldn't touch that," He warns. Nathan ignores Argent's warning and fires the taser by mistake, causing Argent to take back the taser and slam it on the table.
"What is all this for?" Nathan asks.
"For your protection," Reed replies from the corner while reading a book and acting like this is the most normal situation ever.
"We're missing three people plus Gwen," Liam tells Scott when he arrives in the bunker.
"All the lacrosse players," Scott realises as he looks at the paper in Liam's hand.
"They were at the party, so they all know what's coming," Corey reminds everyone.
"People see what the wanna see," Liz and Argent say at the same time.
"Guys we're running out of time," Mason reminds them. He shows through his phone the K Index rising until it hits 40.
"Scott, we have to get them," Liam states.
"I'll go, you guy stay here," Scott replies.
"Are you crazy? You wanna go up against something that not only is stronger than you but it can erase you and other from existence and you can't see it coming?" Reed asks Scott but then sees the determinant look on his face and sighs. "Look, I get it you wanna keep everyone safe but you can't keep someone safe or get them back when you're non-exsistant."
"He's right. We couldn't fight off one Ghost Rider. Who knows how many are gonna be tonight. We're going with you," Liam adds.
"You're marked," Scott reminds him.
"So am I," Mason reminds Scott.
"Me too... but at least I can see them coming," Corey points out. Scott looks at Argent and Reed who're both nodding.
"Alright. But if you see them coming... run."
