Garrett Douglas is teaching his physics class and is holding up a metal rod as he stands before all of the students.
"Power. The ability, to control things. This metal, has no power. It's small. Weak. Insignificant. Is there anything we can do to change that?" Douglas asks. Corey, who is sitting next to Mason, raises his hand, causing Douglas to call on him for the answer. Mason, who was reading his book, gets surprised by Corey's sudden volunteering. "Corey, whatchu got?"
"We can add electricity," Corey proposes. Douglas smiles at him proudly.
"Exactly." Mason gives Corey an impressed smile for his correct answer and Corey smiles back."We turn this metal rod..." Douglas places the metal rod on the table before he turns his eyes to a bowl next to him and holds up another metal rod wrapped in copper coil. "...Into a magnet. Now, it has power. Now, it has influence... over others." Douglas places a metal ball inside the bowl. He turns on the battery attached to the magnet and starts moving the magnet around the bowl, making the ball spin around the bowl and the ball's speed increases.
Suddenly, Douglas starts suffering coughing fit as the students, including Liam, Liz and Hayden sitting next to each other, on the room are worried if he is fine.
He stops for a moment but starts coughing again as he experiences a FLASHBACK of the time he was stuck in the glass, liquid-filled tube of the Dread Doctors' lair.
In the PRESENT TIME, Douglas keeps coughing and Hayden looks at her teacher with a frown of concern.
"Are you okay, Mr Douglas?" She expresses her concern. Douglas stops coughing and looks fine now before he addresses Hayden.
"Just a little cough," He replies like he didn't look like he was dying just a second ago. Douglas glances at the metal ball, still spinning at a slower pace before he turns to the class. "Where were we? Um... Right, now we have electricity and a little bit of power. Let's add a little more." Douglas increases the electricity from the battery. "After all, greater the power... greater the control."
Douglas once again experiences a FLASHBACK of the time he was still stuck in the Dread Doctors' lair tube. The alarm from the lair goes off.
The scene change back to PRESENT TIME where Douglas coughing becomes severe and he punches the table.
The scene cuts back to the FLASHBACK of the Dread Doctors' lair where Douglas is trying to break free from the tube by giving some punches.
In PRESENT TIME Douglas coughs more and more. The students all have a worried look, wondering if their teacher is sick. Douglas grabs his bottle of water and drinks some of it to ease his coughing. When he looks okay to continue the class, he turns to the class while Liam also makes a worried look and Liz a slightly frowned one. Douglas places his bottle of water on the table before he takes a steadying breath and keeps revealing more about the metal rod.
"Imagine how powerful this rod could become with unbalanced electricity. Say... from a lightning bolt? What else could we control?" Douglas continues his class again. The metal ball starts spinning around the bowl at great speed again but Douglas starts coughing once again.
The scene cuts to the FLASHBACK of the time he burst out of the tube of the Dread Doctors' lair. His whole body's skin is saggy and he slowly removes the oxygen mask he has been wearing inside the tube and we can see the Pathologist and Geneticist's dead bodies after they were killed by the Beast.

In the PRESENT DAY, he coughs more and enters the storage room where he coughs even louder enough for the students to hear. Liam and Liz get up from their seats, going to see if their teacher is fine.
Inside the storage room, Douglas grabs a mask attached to a tank marked Helium and inhales helium deeply to diminish his cough.
Liam and Liz get closer to the storage room to see their teacher but then stop, wondering what could be happening inside the room with Douglas. They share a look and realise they are thinking the same thing.
Garrett increases the quantity of helium and keeps inhaling deeply.
"Mr Douglas?" Liz asks quietly with a concerned frown on her face. She quickly looks behind at the class.
Douglas yet again has another FLASHBACK that shows what happened right after he burst out of the tube and removed his oxygen mask. He leans on a wall, checks his skin and takes a few breathes before he starts bleeding a strange green ooze from his mouth. He then activates his accelerated healing power and his skin is restored to its healthy state as his eyes glow Alpha red and he smirks.
Liz raises her hand a little as her eyes glow their witchy golden colour. Before she can cast a spell, however, Douglas opens the door and Liz' eyes turn back to normal and she drops her hand, a small, innocent smile on her face.

In the girls' locker room, every girl's phone, including Hayden's, is ringing. Every girl has received an invitation from Nathan Pierce, saying "Start of the Season Lacrosse Party, Nathan Pierce's house. Kec DJ Be There". Hayden looks to her left to share a look with Liz and Lori.
Meanwhile, a girl slams a locker closed.
"Where is it?" The girl asks aggressively. She turns to the other girls with a demanding expression. "Who took all of her stuff?"
Hayden and Liz, both having taken notice of the ruckus, approaches her with matching curious and worried looks.
"What's wrong, Gwen?" Hayden asks.
"Someone stole all of her stuff," Gwen explains. Hayden looks back at Liz, as to ask if she knows what Gwen means. Liz shakes her head and looks at Gwen worriedly.
"Who's stuff?" She asks.
"My sister, Phoebe. She's been on your team for 2 years," Gwen explains. The name Phoebe doesn't sound familiar to Hayden at all before she looks back at Liz again, who once again shakes her head. Liz steps forward and gives Gwen her honest reply.
"I don't remember her," Liz admits. Gwen seems very upset and frustrated at this response before revealing what she has been told by many other people
"You don't remember her. The whole school doesn't remember her. No one remembers her." Gwen snaps at them and storms out of the locker room in anger. Liz and Hayden share a suspicious look.

In the LIBRARY, Scott, Brett and Lydia have found the meaning of "Stile" before Scott begins to read it aloud.
"Stile: an arrangement of steps that allows people but not animals, to climb over a fence," Scott reads. He turns to Lydia and Brett, who both have a doubtful look about the information they found.
"Yeah, somehow I don't think this is the "Stiles" we're looking for," Brett points out.
"Did you find anything?" Lydia then asks Brett hopeful.
"Well, not really. I mean we already figured out 'illa-lupus' means 'she-wolf'. And Selene is some kind of Greek goddess of the crescent moon," Brett explains.

"Maybe Malia has found something," Scott says, sounding hopeful.
"No. She's making a test today," Lydia replies.
~~~
Malia is taking a make-up math test with Mrs Martin in the counsellor's office. She's frustrated and losing control. Natalie tries to get her to calm down, and breath but Malia freaks and turns into a coyote. She runs away down the hall. In the library, Scott, Brett and Lydia hear her howl and decide the test must not be going well.
~~~
Scott arrives at the basement of the school and finds coyote Malia hiding behind a closet, growling at him. Scott slowly walks towards her, wanting to help his Beta.
"Malia, it's okay. You're safe," Scott tries. Coyote-Malia comes out and keeps growling at Scott. Lydia, Natalie, Brett and Sheriff Stilinski arrive to help Scott with Malia. "I'm not gonna hurt you." Malia, upon hearing her Alpha's words, starts calming herself down and stops growling. "She's calming down." Stilinski looks a tiny bit scared of Malia's growling.
"Maybe you should growl back?" the Sheriff proposes. Malia growls one more time and Natalie gets scared and Sheriff looks at Scott desperately. "Scott, you're the Alpha. Can you just make her a little more docile?"
"She's not the problem," Brett suddenly says and everyone turns to him. "We are. This is her territory. We need to get out of here." Malia starts barking as Scott thinks he is right.
"Yes. C'mon," Scott agrees. Scott, Lydia, Natalie, Brett and the Sheriff start leaving the basement but they stop once Lydia begins to speak.
"Malia came here to get to the full moons. Then we got to the lake house," She explains.
"I thought you said a wild animal got in the lake house," Natalie asks her daughter. Brett shrugs before replying for Lydia.
"Technically, that wasn't wrong," He points out. Scott and Lydia let out a little laugh.
They turn their attentions to Malia walking and she slowly transforms back into her human form. Sheriff dodges his attention since Malia is naked.
"It's alright. I'm okay," Malia immediately reassures everyone. Natalie gives Malia her clothes back and looks at the Sheriff, who looks at Scott, Brett and Lydia questioningly.
"Any idea what made her shift?" He asks.
"She's under a lot of pressure," Scott explains. He glances at Lydia and Brett before turning back to the Sheriff. "School, her life after graduation."
"Her mom trying to kill her," Brett adds. "Still, that shouldn't make her shift," Scott looks at Lydia and Brett with a concerned expression.
"Could it be connected to Stiles and Selene?" Lydia doesn't look very sure due to the lack of information they possess for now.
"Hard to tell since we don't know what a 'Stiles' is," Lydia replies. Sheriff looks pretty familiar with the aforementioned name before he replies.
"It's a 'he'." All three look at the Sheriff both intrigued and confused.
"Who?" Scott asks.
"Stiles. It's a family nickname. I never used it, but... my father did." Scott and Lydia look at each other surprised, believing that Sheriff's father could help them remember Stiles.
~~~
At the Stilinski home, the sheriff, Claudia, Lydia, and Scott talk about Elias Stilinski (Patrick Gorman). He was an Army engineer who went by Stiles. He currently lives "three towns over" in a nursing home.
Scott explains that they believe someone was taken from them and the Ghost Riders erased their memories. Lydia says they found a clue in the word Stiles. Scott says he thinks the person missing might have been his best friend. The sheriff says his father can't help and refuses to discuss it further.
An old woman (Eve Sigall credited as "Grandma") walks through the living room. It seems no one but Lydia can see her. She stops, turns and says, "The following stops have been cancelled." The sound of a train fills the room but again, only Lydia can hear it. She asks to be excused to go to the bathroom and follows the old woman down the hall to where she stands before a blank wall. Lydia tries to question her but gets no reply. She reaches out to touch her but Claudia calls out and when Lydia turns back the old woman is gone.
~~~
Mellisa comes downstairs and hears a noise in her kitchen. She grabs a candle holder for a weapon and enters. She finds making coffee. He says he needs her help to get into the morgue to look at a body.
~~~
Gwen is in the library looking through yearbooks for signs of her sister Phoebe. Hayden tries to talk to her about her missing sister. Gwen explains that she got up in the night to get some water and saw a man in a hat and long coat outside in the front yard. He seemed to vanish. Then this morning, she found her sister's room empty. She also can't get in touch with her mom and tried to call Phoebe's phone, but the line is disconnected. The cops and the school say there is no record of her. The only thing Gwen has left of her sister is a friendship bracelet that she wove for her for Phoebe's birthday.
Hayden explains the Ghost Riders and how they take people, but Gwen doesn't believe her and storms off.
~~~
Argent and Melissa arrive at the hospital's morgue to examine the dead body Argent wanted Melissa to see. They remove the stretcher from the body and Chris grabs the body's head with strength and turns it upside down, showing the damage of it.
"I'm gonna go with head trauma as cause of death." Another voice says and they turn to see Reed with a raised eyebrow.
"Since when are you back?" Melissa asks as Reed hugs her.
"An hour or so. Cheryl is still in New Orleans" Reed explains. Then he frowns looking at the skull.
"It wasn't just broken. Look here," Argent explains.
"These are teeth marks," Reed realises. Melissa turns to Argent with a questioning expression.
"A werewolf?" She asks.
"A werewolf with an unusually powerful set of jaws," Reed replies. Melissa seems fascinated and perplexed by this newest discovery.
"That can bite through a human skull?" She questions.
"Skulls," Argent corrects her. Melissa and Reed look up from the skull to Argent curiously, leading him to reveal what else he knows. "This wasn't the first victim." Melissa and Reed are shocked and alarmed with this news.

Malia opens her locker to keep her books as Scott, who is behind her, has just arrived to tell her about the Sheriff's order but Malia is able to guess the results.
"Stilinski said no, didn't he?" Brett, leaning against the locker next to Malia's, asks.
"Yeah," Scott replies.
"But we're going anyway?" Malia asks.
"Yeah," Scott repeats. Malia closes her locker, revealing Liam leaning next to a row of lockers before he gives his friends a look.
"Or you could stay here and help me convince Gwen she's in danger," He tries.
"It's not your job to convince her. It's your job to keep her safe," Scott corrects his Beta. The four of them start exiting school as Malia gives Liam one of her styled-ideas.
"Just kidnap her," She proposes. Scott disapproves the idea and warns Liam to do not listen to Malia's words while Brett laughs at Malia's bluntness.
"Do not kidnap her. We come back at night, after we talk to Stilinski's dad. And Brett, stop laughing," Scott warns. Malia doubts if Elias really could help them out.
"Do we really need to do this?" Malia asks.
"He is our only clue," Brett replies. As Scott and Malia prepare to leave the school, Liam can't hide his worries any longer.
"Okay. But if the Ghost Riders show up?" He asks.
"Then you handle them, Liam. You're not alone. You've got Mason and Corey and Lori and Liz and Hayden. Just find a safe place for Gwen and keep her there," Scott replies.
"Any suggestion?"
"It doesn't matter as long she is safe," Scott leaves with Malia but before she goes, she once again tells Liam her idea.
"Kidnap her," She basically whispers and Brett snorts again. Scott appears to have heard Malia telling Liam to kidnap Gwen due to his werewolf hearing and disapproves the idea again.
"Do not kidnap her!" He yells from outside and Brett laughs again. He and Malia leave as well without saying another word to Liam, who is still uncertain if he and his friends can protect Gwen from the Ghost Riders.
~~~
At the library, Liam has met with Hayden, Mason, Lori, Liz and Corey and they discuss in a table where they can keep Gwen safe from the Ghost Riders.
"Until we find a safe place for Gwen, we need to know her location all the time," Liam explains. Hayden looks at Gwen in the second floor of the library talking to her friends.
"That's great progress at school, but what happens after that? She could go anywhere," Mason points out. Corey looks at Hayden with a solution.
"Hayden could ask her." Then realization hits Liz.
"We don't have to. I know she'll be there tonight. At Nathan's party," Liz explains and Hayden nods as she pulls her phone out. Hayden shows Mason, Liam and Corey Nathan's invitation for his party this night at 8:00 pm.
"Liz is right. Gwen's been asking everybody in school about Phoebe. I'm sure she'll do the same tonight," Hayden explains. Liam thinks about this for a moment before he grimaces in frustration.
"We can't keep her safe at Nathan's. We need a place where supernaturals can't get in," He realises. Mason smiles and apparently remembers something.
"I know a place," He replies. Corey, Liam, Lori, Liz and Hayden look at Mason questioningly. "The safest place."
Grandpa Stiles
Scott, Lydia, Brett and Malia arrive at the nursing home where Elias Stilinski, Sheriff Stilinski's father resides in.
"I can't believe we're about to break in to a nursing home." Scott sighs.
"I can," Brett replies.
"After the orderlies of Eichen House, pretty sure we can handle some nurses," Malia replies. Malia walks ahead and enters the nursing house where she finds the head male nurse on a call.
"Ow no," Brett says as he's already facepalming. The nurse ends the call and turns to Malia.
"Hi, over there. There's something I can do-?" Unfortunately, Malia doesn't let him finish. Malia grabs the nurse's head and slams it on the table. The guy falls on the ground after the impact with the table and Malia, off-screen, drags him into a closet and locks him in there, preventing him from stopping them from talking to Elias.
"Is it over yet?" Brett asks.
"Yeah," Lydia replies and shakes her head while entering the building.
~~~
In his bedroom, Elias Stilinski is listening to old trumpet music. Unbeknownst to him, Scott, Lydia, Brett and Malia arrive at his room and slowly walk towards him, wanting to talk to him. Elias turns to them and seems confused.
"Yes? Is it time for my medicine?" Elias asks.
"We don't have your medicine," Malia replies quite harshly. Elias sighs in understanding and turns around.
"Are you Elias Stilinski?" Lydia asks after sharing a look with Brett.
"I am," Elias replies. Scott, Brett and Lydia look at each other before she walks towards Elias.
"I'm Lydia Martin. Do you know who I am?" Lydia asks hopefully.
"Should I?"
"Hi. Mr Stilinski, we're looking for someone who might be named Stiles. And you went by the name in the army, right?" Scott asks, stepping forward.
"Yes. Those were the best years of my life," Elias replies.
"That's slightly concerning," Brett whispers to himself and Scott and Lydia glare at him.
"Do you know any of us?" Malia asks.
"Of course I do. How could I forget my own son," Elias replies looking at Scott. Scott frowns in confusion at what Elias just said.
"Your son?" He asks and then Brett sighs in realisation.
"Mr Stilinski. What year is it?" He asks, slightly concerned.
"1976. My son's birthday is next week," Elias replies and Lydia also sighs.
"He has dementia," She announces. Scott turns to Elias with a frown of concern.
"Is it time for my medicine?" Elias asks again.
~~~
There's a DJ set up in the McCall's living room spinning for a huge crowd of students. Liam tries frantically to keep people from damaging Scott's house. Nathan shows up enraged that Liam "stole" his party. Mason pays him off with a few hundred bucks and Nathan seems happy enough after that.
Dear Spellbook (Rewrite)
Live. Study. Repeat. Tal never saw himself as an adventurer, but the call to adventure never much cared for his opinion. Despite his best efforts, his search for answers on the murder of his parents ever draws him into danger. Accompanied by a group of seasoned warriors, thus far Tal has gotten by on his own meager magical talents, but when one day he wakes up to find himself back in his bed of the night before, he is faced with a challenge he must conquer alone. What to expect: This story was born of an attempt to create in world lore reasons for many of the mechanics and tropes of D&D, but you do not need to know of them to enjoy the story. It's a single POV time loop story with slow paced progression fantasy elements. The story is not one of fast-paced power ups and non-stop action, but as it progresses, the action picks up. There is a lot of magic system exploration on a system built to unify the diverse magic of D&D into one cohesive magic system. The setting is an original world with familiar races and monsters but with new unique origins and motivations. The average chapter will be 2-5k words long, most being around 3k but there are a few less than 1k, due to the nature of the story telling device I used. Book 1 is complete. Posting is on hold until I finish book 2. Book 2 progress: The rough draft is done at 141656 words as of 7/9/2022. I need to reread and edit it but Im aiming for resuming chapters in September.
Mercenaries are creating monsters with alchemy to insure their jobs won't disappear? The prince of a neighboring kingdom has sent me five marriage proposals this month alone? The Church which I am supposed to represent is running a propaganda campaign against demi-humans? Well, the least I can do is to fix things around my fief.
