《E.C.H.O.》Stage 19 "Girls of Ellison High"

The mass of boys gathered in dorm three gave away that something was up. They were all crowded outside one particular room that was filled with boys. Eyes peered at Lucus and his roommates. Brian shrank back, looking as though he wanted to run. Hands reached out and pushed him back in his place, right between his two roommates.

Nathan reached a hand up and scratched the long wig of black hair that hung from his head. He moved a hand to the skirt of the uniform he wore and tugged at it; the uniform that identified him as a girl of Bel. Both his roommate wore it as well.

Lucas didn't move, deciding that the less he did, the fewer eyes would be on him. He had gone on missions for ECHO in various disguises before. But at least then they didn't make me look like a cross between Godzilla and... he shot a glance over at Nathan and then Brian. Out of the three boys, Nathan was the closest to pulling the look off, however, that wasn't saying a lot. Just think of it as a chance to get a look at Bel from the inside. Lucas tried to not think of how Nathan and the other guys had dragged him and Brian into this.

"They're missing something." A guy stood back to survey his work, a finger tapping his chin.

There was a moment of silence as eyes stared at the three boys who looked like cross dressing gone very wrong. Poor Brian didn't even have a wig, instead, a bow had been clipped in his hair. The red lipstick that had been plastered on his lips and partly on his cheek gave away that he had tried to smudge it off.

Dwain, for whom they were going through this ordeal for, raised a finger in the air. "Their chests!" he exclaimed.

All eyes turned to him.

"They're flat," he explained.

"Huh?" someone asked.

"Boobs, man!" someone told him.

'Ahs' and 'ohs' went up all around. Brian looked like he was about to pass out. Nathan, however, almost looked excited.

"I want a C cup!" he yelled.

All around guys were jostling and shoving as ideas for fake boobs were called out. Socks were passed forward only to be tossed to the side after a whiff of them revealed they hadn't been washed in a good two weeks.

Lucas watched the unfolding scene in a calm manner. The whole situation left him both confused and somewhat overwhelmed. How almost the entire dorm three had gotten involved, he wasn't sure. Yet, somehow, as soon as the idea had been spread that the three roommates could sneak into Bel High, everyone had found a way to pitch in. The following day, three uniforms had been dug up that the drama team had apparently used for a play the previous school year. Wigs and makeup had been donated too.

Somehow, Lucas felt that Auden wouldn't allow what was going on to happen if he knew, but apparently the dorm heads were out for a meeting. Jamie was standing near the door, peering around with wide eyes and glaring every time Lucas glanced it that direction

"I have it!" Someone walked through the mass of guys holding up oranges. "We can use these!"

Lucas and his roommates found themselves bestowed with oranges that were stuffed down their shirts. The guys around them surveyed their work.

"Nathan, yours are crooked," someone commented.

Nathan corrected them before looking up with a grin. "Tell me I don't look like a beauty." He overdramatically battered the fake eyelashes that had been stuck on while posing as though doing a photoshoot.

"More like a beast," came the reply.

There was a snicker.

"We're going to be dead when they catch us!" Brian gasped,

"Then don't get caught," someone whispered in his ear before slapping him on the butt.

There were chuckles as Brian turned around, his eyes furious. "Who did that?"

The culprit had already disappeared in the mass of boys.

Lucas let out a sigh, resisting the urge to pull off the itchy blonde wig from his head. "If we get caught, our team will be in trouble," he told Nathan.

"This will be worth having to sit a game out," Peter commented from among to crowd.

Lucas shrugged.

"The sooner we leave, the sooner this will be over with."

"Let's got team RDT!" Nathan exclaimed. He shouldered a backpack which contained a box of chocolates, and a card.

There were cheers from all around as the crowd of boys began to push the three roommates towards the doors.

"Whoa, whoa! Wait!" Brian yelled.

The boys stopped.

"What about the cameras?" Brian pointed out. "If they catch us, they'll know we're up to something."

Glances were exchanged.

"We could just use the window," Lucas suggested.

"The window!" Someone else repeated.

"Window!" Several yelled.

The crowd turned and the roommates were pushed towards their new exit.

Lucas saw Brian trying to resists to the end. For a moment, he considered doing the same, but then he was already at the window. Nathan was the first to climb out into the night, his enthusiasm definitely the highest of the three. Lucas calmly followed, and then Brian half fell after him as the boys in the dorm pushed him out.

"Don't forget your flowers, honey!" someone exclaimed as he threw a bouquet of roses after Lucas.

He caught them, not being able but to notice that they looked suspiciously like the roses that grew near the admin building.

"I picked them just for you," someone called.

There were more snickers.

"Good luck!" someone called as guys leaned out the window, waving as though saying farewell to the love of their life.

"Be as stealthy as princesses!"

"Don't forget to act like girls!"

"Embrace your inner female!"

The encouraging yells were far from silent.

"Forget this." Brian turned, but both Lucas and Nathan grabbed him before he could leave.

As they walked into the night, Lucas and Nathan dragged a reluctant Brian along. Nathan waved back to the guys that were leaning out of windows and cheering like adoring fans. He blew a kiss, making them yell louder. Laughter was followed. Lucas didn't look back, trying to form a plan in his head. He had some bugs sneaked into the pocket of the uniform jacket he wore, now he just needed an opportunity to actually get into the girl's school and plant them.

If Bel's security is anything like ours... he shook his head at the thought.

They walked towards the stables in silence. Someone from the equestrian club had suggested they ride towards Bel. It made sense since the school was quite a ride away, not to mention any other form of transport would be louder.

The smell of horses hit the roommates only to be followed a view of the stables. Nathan led the way, seeming to know the area well. Soft lights lit the interior and Lucas was able to make out unusually large stalls filled with horses of all breeds. There was a snort, followed by the sound of shuffling.

They walked right through the barn and out the other side. Waiting for them were three guys, each holding a horse that was already tacked up.

"Yo!" Nathan greeted.

"Shhhh," came the reply.

Nathan grinned sheepishly. "Yo," he tried again, this time in a whisper.

The guys looked over the three roommates before exchanging glances. They seemed like they were trying to desperately not laugh.

"Not a word," Brian growled.

"These our rides?" Nathan asked as nodded to the horses the waiting boys held. He petted a large bay one.

Lucas walked up to a dapple grey. He reached out a hand and let it sniff it. I would have picked all dark colors to blend into the night, he couldn't help but think. The horse snorted, as though reading his thoughts. Then, as it went for the flowers in Lucas' hands, Lucas hastily hid them behind his back.

"So what exactly is the plan here?" Brian asked.

The boys exchanged glances again. The one holding the bay was the one to speak, "We'll double up and go to the boarder. Once there, you cross."

"Double up?" Brian asked skeptically.

He was ignored.

"What about the journey back?" Lucas asked.

"We'll wait for thirty minutes. The stable head will be coming through for checks after that, so we need to have these guys back in their stalls or we'll be in trouble." The boy nodded to the horses as he spoke.

"Trouble? That's an understatement," Brian muttered.

"So, we have half an hour," Lucas murmured.

Nathan nudged him in the ribs. "Piece of cake, right?" He winked.

Lucas narrowed his eyes. He was beginning to suspect that Nathan was expecting him to use his particular skill set to help out.

"Let's get this over with," Brian said.

The three guys with the horses responded by mounting. Hands were extended.

"Um..." Nathan glanced down at the skirt he was wearing, seeming to realize the issue for the first time.

"Sit sideward," the boy on the bay suggested.

Lucas pulled up his skirt somewhat. He took the hand that was offered to him and swung himself up behind the guy on the dapple grey. He settled in behind the other boy, roses in one hand, other arm around the waist of the guy before him and skirt hiked up high. He was sure it wasn't a pretty sight, and he winced slightly at the uncomfortableness of it all.

"Or not." The guy who had suggested the other method shrugged.

"You look ridiculous," Brian commented.

Lucas declined to comment.

Nathan swung up behind the boy on the bay. He settled, sitting sideways.

"Oh, my prince," he joked as he snaked an arm around the guy sitting in front of him.

"My lady," the guy replied with a grin.

"Someone kill me," Brian muttered.

"Come on princess, time to get up," he was told by the last guy.

Brian glared before he followed Lucas' lead. Pulling his skirt up somewhat he took the offered hand and settled behind the guy before him.

"We good?"

"Yup," Nathan responded for everyone.

The group set off.

Though Lucas had learned to ride, and been on various missions that required that form of transportation, it had been a while. Not only was it uncomfortable, but his skirt kept riding further up.

"Can't we go faster?" Brain complained through gritted teeth as he clung on for dear life. His slouched seat suggested this was a first for him.

"Now now, honey," the guy before him cooed, "aren't you enjoying our date?"

Nathan laughed.

"Shhh!" the boy before him reminded.

The group lapsed into silence. Once they were a good way from the stables, the riders leaned forward and the pace was increased to a slow canter. Lucas and Nathan were doing fine, yet upon shooting a glance toward his other roommate, Lucas couldn't help but notice how Brian was slipping back and forth, looking like he was on the verge of falling. The fact that the boy wore a skirt made the view even more comical. He couldn't help but smile at the ridiculousness of it all.

Lucas estimated that about ten minutes passed before the horses were drawn to a halt.

"Whoa," the guy before him murmured to the dapple gray as the horse shook its head and jogged in one place. The creature seemed to want anything but to stop as it pranced and chomped at its bit.

"This is it," one of the boys whispered.

Lucas dismounted as quickly as he could. Feeling the ground under his feet he pulled down the skirt that had ridden up ridiculously high.

"Finally," Brian sounded more than relieved as he followed.

"Thank you for the ride, darling," Nathan, still in role, told the guy before him before he gracefully dismounted.

"Honestly, how do girls do this?" Brian asked as he tugged at his skirt. "These are so restricting."

Nathan placed a hand on his shoulder. "The dilemmas of the female species." He shook his head.

Lucas glanced around. He saw the fence that lined the border between the campuses of the two schools. Bel High loomed not far behind, its castle-like buildings lit up by fluorescent lights.

Only a fence? He couldn't help but wonder as his eyes scanned for any other security measures in the area. Yet, it looked like a fence was all there was.

"Here it is."

Lucas turned to see that Nathan had pulled out fence cutters from the backpack.

"You guys fine from here on?" the boy on the bay asked.

Lucas gave him a thumb up.

"Okay. We'll take cover in the trees." The mounted boys turned their horses and headed for the edge of the tree line behind them.

"Let's do this!" Nathan marched toward the fence.

Lucas exchanged glances with Brian. Armed with flowers, he followed his other roommate.

Nathan was already crouched and cutting away.

Brian looked skeptical. "You don't think they'll find that and freak?"

Nathan waved a hand, not looking up from what he was doing. "Live in the moment, man. We'll worry about that later."

Lucas only shook his head. He glanced around again, wondering at the low security.

A hole was cut in a few moments.

"Ladies." Nathan stepped back from his handiwork. He bowed and motioned to it. "After you."

Brian grumbled and yet was the first to attempt to crawl through. He paused as he bent down, seeming to realize that the action caused his skirt to grow shorter. "Don't peak," he told Nathan with a glare.

"Such a girl," Nathan replied with a grin.

As soon as Brian was through, Lucas followed. Nathan crawled only after returning the cutters to the backpack.

"So..." the three boys now stood on Bel ground.

They were side by side. Nathan wearing a backpack, Lucas carrying a bouquet of flowers, and Brian tugging furiously at the skirt to try bring it back down.

"Anna's in dorm four," Nathan spoke up. He was referring to the girl they were to deliver the note and roses to.

"Dorm 4?" Brian asked. "Which one is the dorm?"

"That one." Lucas pointed to a tall building that looked like a miniature castle.

"And dorm 4 is..."

"Fourth floor," Lucas replied.

"You're kidding, right?"

"Not at all."

Brian looked between his roommates in disbelief. "And how are we supposed to get up there?"

Nathan didn't reply but turned to Lucas.

"What?" Lucas asked.

"How do we get in there?" Nathan asked.

"Hey, I just came along for the ride. I didn't volunteer." Lucas raised his hands. "You're the one who had this idea, so you decide how we do this."

"Come on," Nathan protested. "You're good at this type of stuff!"

Lucas wanted to slap his hand to his forehead. Seeming to realize what he had said, Nathan shot a panicked glance at the confused Brian.

"I mean, you're the clever one here," he quickly added.

"He's placed in a lower class than both of us," Brian replied.

"Um...hidden genius?" Nathan tried.

He was digging a deeper hole the more he spoke.

"Why don't we just climb?" Lucas decided the subject needed to be changed.

His roommates turned to look at him.

"Are you crazy?" Nathan asked. "It's the fourth floor."

Lucas shrugged. "Live in the moment, right?"

"Hidden genius, huh?" Brian asked. "Let me take this from here." He walked forward.

Lucas and Nathan exchanged glances before following.

"So...how do we get up there?" Nathan asked hesitantly as they neared the building and the light surrounding it.

Brian slowed down, so did the two others. He pointed and both Lucas and Nathan followed his finger. They caught sight of a window that was slightly ajar on the first floor.

"Through there?" Nathan asked.

Brian nodded.

"Looks like the bathroom," Lucas commented. The window was shaped differently than the others. It was longer and narrower.

"The bathroom?" Nathan's eyes lit up. "You think anyone's showering at this time?"

Brian gave him a disbelieving look.

"What?" Nathan asked,

Ignoring him, Brian walked forward once more. Lucas followed, whacking Nathan over the head on the way.

"What?" Nathan repeated.

"Perv," Lucas told him.

Nathan's eyes widened. "I was just asking an honest question."

"Shhh," Brian cautioned. "Do you want us to get caught?"

The boys lapsed into silence. Lucas' eyes hadn't stopped scanning the area since they had come upon it. He hadn't seen any major security systems, and it made him wonder. Maybe Bel can be counted out for holding the object.

When they came to the point where the security lights began to illuminate the area, the boys paused again.

"So...do we just make a run for it?" Lucas asked in a whisper. He was letting Brian take the lead on this.

"I don't see why not," Brian replied. "Isn't this ridiculous costume to make anyone who sees us think we're Bel students?"

"From far, yeah," Lucas agreed. "But up close..."

Nathan bounded forward. The boy sprinted towards the open window before Lucas could finish what he wanted to say.

"I guess that's one way to do it," Brian said before he followed.

Lucas watched for a moment. Then, with a shake of his head at the recklessness of it all, he went after his roommates. His heart was beating with the thrill of the crazy unorganized plan. He joined Brian and Nathan, who after peering in to see of the room was empty, began to try and fully open the window. They succeeded.

"Give me a boost," Nathan eagerly demanded.

Lucas put the flowers down and his hands out. Nathan stepped into them and Lucas gave him the boost he requested. Nathan was though the window so fast he left both his roommates impressed.

"You next," Lucas told Brian. He held his hands out again. Brian ignored them, grabbed the sill, and pulled himself through. Lucas only snorted before he picked up the flowers and followed after his roommates. His skirt making the whole thing a lot more awkward than he thought it would be. Nevertheless, he managed to land on his feet in his destination.

Once down, Lucas took a moment to look around. They weren't in a bathroom, instead they were in what looked like the laundry room.

"Where's the showers?" Nathan asked.

"You think they'd not have their own bathroom in each room?" Brain asked calmly as he returned the window to being only slightly ajar.

Lucas' eyes were scanning the room. There were no signs of blinking lights to revel cameras or motion sensors. In fact, the washing machines, driers, and smell of detergent gave the impression that this was nothing more than a normal laundry room.

Brian cracked the door open slightly and light streamed in from the hallway. Girl's giggles drifted to the boy's ears and the door was quickly shut again. The roommates exchanged glances.

"I guess they're out and about," Lucas murmured. He slipped a hand into his pocket.

"How do we get passed that?" Nathan suddenly looked a lot less confident.

Ignoring him, Lucas took to the door. He cracked it and peered through. Sure enough, girls walked past. His eyes, however, were scanning the hallway. He didn't see a camera. Security low in here too... His left hand planted a bug on the door while he pretended he needed it for support.

"We need to cover our faces," Nathan decided. He was already at a laundry basket and pulled out a towel. "Ah ha!" He draped it over his head. "How is it?"

Lucas and Brian stared at him. A boy wearing a skirt and with a mop of black hair stared back at them.
