《Fever》Now Or Never

You check the clock anxiously as Candice fusses with the hemline of your dress. You had given her complete permission to pick out your outfit for the date, letting her dress you in an elegant sleeveless number.

The black fabric falls to about mid thigh, the skirt flowing effortlessly and drawing attention to your sculpted waist and bust.

You feel beautiful, sexy.

"You're gonna knock him dead in this, Y/N."

You send her a smile, fluffing your hair a bit.

"You think so?"

"I know so."

You look back at the clock, watching as six thirty rolls around.

"Where's he taking you, anyway?"

Candice has poured you both drinks, walking over to hand you a glass.

"The Formosa," you say, adding an exaggerated eyebrow wiggle.

"Ooo, swanky." Candice laughs, rolling her shoulder. "He gonna take you dancing?"

You shrug.

"Maybe," you break out into a sudden, brilliant smile, twirling in a small circle. "God, Candy can you picture it? Me dancing with Elvis?"

Candice smiles, setting her drink down to grab your waist.

"Yeah, thrusting those hips and everything!"

She playfully thrusts into you, making you both shriek with laughter.

A knock on the door makes both your heads whip around, Candice giving you an encouraging shove toward the door.

"He's here!" She whisper-screams.

"I know!" You mouth back, heels clacking across the floor as you head to the entryway.

You pull open the door excitedly.

Elvis stands before you in an all black outfit, sleek and stylish from his head to his feet.

Dark sunglasses obscure his eyes, but he takes them off when he gets a real good look at you.

"Well, " his lips tilt up in a smirk. "aren't you a sight for sore eyes."

You give him an obvious once over.

"You aren't so bad yourself."

Candice comes up behind you, your purse dangling from her left hand.

"Almost forgot this, Y/N." She says cooly, sending a friendly smile Elvis's way.

He offers her a wave, having a hard time pulling his attention away from you.

"I know I'm a little early, doll, but I just couldn't wait to see you."

The statement brings a pink blush to your face, and Candice nudges you a little from behind.

"Well, go on!" She teases. She watches with excited eyes as Elvis gently takes your arm, guiding you out of the apartment.

"I'll have her back at a reasonable hour!" He kids, and Candice doesn't miss a beat.

"You better, Mr. Presley, I know where you work!"

That leaves you both laughing, you sending a small wave to Candice before she closes the door, walking arm in arm with Elvis.

The car waiting for you outside of your building is beautiful, more luxurious than anything you could afford. Elvis opens the passenger door for you. You can feel his eyes on you as you sit down, and it fills you chest with a sense of satisfaction.

You look fantastic, and you know that he notices.

"Such a gentleman." You say as he gets into the car.

"My mama raised me well, darlin'." He flashes you a charming grin.

"So, you go to this place often?"

Elvis nods, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel as he pulls out onto the street.

"Shoot, The Formosa's one of my favorite spots!" You can't take your eyes off of him- Elvis looks fine as hell even when he's doing something as mundane as driving.

A million and one thoughts are racing through your head as the two of you draw nearer to the restaurant.

Never in your life did you think you'd be in a car- on a date, no less- with the newly single Elvis Presley.

You had to refrain from pinching yourself.

You look over at him once again. The reflections of the neon lights help illuminate Elvis's dark features, the brightness of his eyes.

"I'm really glad you asked me out tonight." You blurt out.

Elvis darts his eyes to you, a genuine smile on his lips.

"I'm glad you agreed to come out with me. You're the first person I've talked to in a long while that actually treats me like a real person, ya know?"

That warms you a little, but also makes your chest ache.

What kind of people are hanging around Elvis to make him feel this way?

"I'm glad you feel that way." You tell him. You lean back in your seat a little, thoughtful.

"You know, I don't really do this. The whole dating thing, I mean." You admit.

You feel that since he was able to open up to you, now is as good as anytime to be just as vulnerable.

Elvis raises an eyebrow, turning the wheel sharply as he pulls the car into the parking lot.

"Beautiful woman like you not going on dates? I find that hard to believe, darlin."

You laugh.

"It's true! I'm actually pretty shy if I don't know someone that well. Dating seems so hard, overwhelming." You explain, waving a hand vaguely.

Elvis puts the car into park towards the front entrance of The Formosa. He turns in his seat to look at you.

"You don't seem that way with me."

You turn in your seat as well, dress hitching up your thigh a little.

"I guess I just feel comfortable with you, Elvis." You lean forward and he does the same.

"You make me feel," your lips are inches apart. "safe."

Elvis captures your lips in a sweet, sensual kiss that seems to go on forever. It makes your heart race and your mind slow, arms coming up automatically to wrap around his shoulders.

His big hands come to rest at your waist, soft lips leaving yours only for a moment before he presses back in, tongue entering your mouth.

It's then that you both notice the tell-tale click of a camera, bright flash illuminating the interior of the car.

You break apart, both facing forward to see a couple paparazzi standing in front of the car.

"Well, fuck." Elvis says.
