《Mama Nootmare (A fanfic with the bad sanses)》Chapter 14 - Rainy Day

Horror POV:
I woke up early in the morning to the sound of rain outside. 'Rain?' I thought 'It hasn't rained since we got here!' I sat up and opened my curtains. Rain was hitting the window. It was beautiful. I looked past the drops on the window and looked at the ground outside. I liked seeing the water falling onto the concrete paths that lead all the way around the castle. There was a little backyard area behind the castle that was fun to just play in when Nightmare let us. Maybe he'd let us play in the rain! I hopped off my bed and went to go change.
I walked out to the kitchen. I saw Nightmare making toast.
"Can I have some?" I asked. Nightmare flinched and turned to look at me.
"Horror?" He asked "Why're you up so early?" He walked over to me.
"I woke up to the rain. It sounds nice." I commented.
"Yeah. How about you sit down? I'll get you your toast." He said.
I walked over to the table and hopped up onto a chair. As I was waiting, Error walked over too. He barely glanced at me as he walked by. Nightmare placed my toast in front of me. He hat me some water too.
"Thank you!" I said.
"No problem." Nightmare said with a yawn, sitting down with his own toast.
I ate the toast and looked up at Nightmare.
"Hey Nightmare? Can we go play in the rain later?" I asked.
"I don't see why not. We've got to ask the others though." I smiled. I jumped up and grabbed me and Nightmare's plates and ran over and placed them in the sink. I ran back over to him. He chuckled and we walked back towards the other's rooms.

Killer agreed happily, Cross didn't want to, but didn't want to be alone, and Dust just didn't care, so came anyway.
We got ready and went outside. Nightmare had an umbrella to try and keep all the water off him. He walked us to the backyard area. I ran ahead and jumped in a puddle. It splashed. I giggled. Killer came up behind me and kicked water onto my legs.
"Hey!" I said. He was just laughing. I kicked water back at him. He gasped dramatically and we kept kicking water at each other. Dust watched a bit before splashing and joining as well.
After a while I stopped and just started laughing. Killer and Dust were still going. I looked up at Nightmare. I spotted Cross clinging onto him. Then Nightmare whispered something to him. He walked over, pulling his fluffy hood down.
"Hi Cross!" I said.
"Hi...Nightmare told me to go and try and have fun." He explained. I looked back over to the others. I saw a patch of mud not much farther away from Dust.
"Why don't you go push Dust into the mud. It might start a mud fight but those are fun." I suggested.
Cross hesitated a bit, then ran and rammed into Dust, knocking him into the mud. They all stopped for a moment. Dust then smirked and chucked a bit of mud at Cross. Dust started laughing and threw some at me too.
"I saw you telling him to do that!" He called.
I stuck my tongue out at him and ran over. I slipped and fell into the mud. I heard Killer start laughing as well. Dust and I both threw some at Killer. Then I jumped over and tackled Dust back down. We started a little wrestling match. He stopped and stood up after a moment.

"Ugh...I'm all messy now." He said.
"Ready for more?" Killer asked, just before hug tackling Dust.
"Killer!" He smacked the target-souled skeleton's head. "You're such a jerk!" I saw him kick Killer in the stomach. Killer rolled over.
I looked back at Cross, he just stood there, clearly not wanting to get messy. Well more messy, he had some mud on him already. I scooted over to him.
"You good?" I asked. He nodded. "Not for long!" I grabbed his arm and pulled him over. He landed beside me.
"Horror!" He shouted "You are such a—". Cross's voice was drowned out by loud crack! Followed by a loud rumble.
We just sort of sat there for a moment, not knowing what that was. The rain seemed to come down harder.
"Hey mudskippers!" We barely heard Nightmare's voice over the harder rain. "We gotta head inside!" He called. We stood up and walked with him back to the castle.
Cross POV:
I kind of clung to Nightmare as we walked in. Whatever that sound was, it was scary. I saw that the rain had hit him when it got harder. He had spots of white peeking out of his goop. One of his tentacles was pretty much gone. He stopped as soon as we re-entered the castle.
"You guys need to go take baths. Can you do that alone?" He asked. I shook my head. I didn't know what I was doing. Nightmare picked me up with one of his remaining tentacles. "Also, the sound you heard was lightning. Looks like we have a lightning storm. If we're unlucky enough we'll get a power outage." He explained.
After my bath, Nightmare brought me out to the living room. He was about to leave when more thunder rolled by. I stood up on the couch and grabbed his sleeve. He sat down beside me.
"Scared of thunder, huh?" I nodded into his arm as another I heard another one. "I don't blame you. I was scared of it when I was younger too." He hugged me. "It can't hurt you when your inside. Don't worry." I snuggled closer to his chest.
The others came by soon and we watched some movies. Error joined too, sitting on a hammock of his strings. It was a fun rainy day.

Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry.
