《Mama Nootmare (A fanfic with the bad sanses)》Chapter 10 - Schooling

Nightmare POV:
The kids have kept interrupting my work today. It was mostly Horror asking for food. I had to keep telling him to wait until lunch or until I wasn't busy. He'd sulk out. I felt bad telling them that, but I needed to work. 'Maybe I could find somewhere to take them and get alone time. Actually, don't they need school? Kids usually go to school. I'm going to go see if they know basic math or not.' I stood up and walked out to the main room.
"Kids!" I called. Slowly, one by one, they arrived. Dust, Cross, Horror, and then finally Killer. I looked at them. "Do you guys know what math is?" I asked. They all nodded. "Okay, what's 4+5?" I asked. Simple enough. Horror looked at his hands. He had five on one and four on the other. Dust looked at the floor. Killer seemed to be thinking, Cross just gave. I don't think he knew many numbers. "Let's try 2+1?" I offered.
"3?" Dust tried. I nodded.
"How?" Horror asked.
"You have 1" I said, holding up one finger, "and I have two," I put my other hand up with two fingers. "Together," I bumped my hands together and put three fingers on one hand "We have three." I explained.
"Oh." Horror and Killer said together. Cross still seemed lost.
"I don't get it!" Cross complained. He crossed his arms and pouted.
"I'm going to put you guys in school." I announced. They looked upset.
"Why? School's boring." Killer complained.
"You can't add 2+1." I stated.
"Fair."
"Killer and Horror are going first." I said.
"Why?!" They said.
"Cross is too young and doesn't know anything yet. Dust is recovering from his injury. I know that other kids can be cruel and I don't want him getting hurt." I explained.

Killer and Horror understood but still pouted.
~Time Skip of like a Month~
I had bought Horror and Killer everything they'd need. Dust had gotten better but the crack still hurt bad pretty bad. I also started teaching Cross numbers, letters and colors per his requests. As I was teaching him letters too, I found out he is afraid of cows. Cows of all things? Anyway, today was Killer and Horror's first day. They were upset and nervous. I was about to teleport them there.
Horror POV:
Nightmare teleported us to our school and walked us to the classroom. The teacher was a lady with bird wings. I guessed a hybrid.
"Hello! You two must be Killer and Horror. And you must be Nightmare?"
We nodded and Nightmare confirmed the last part. He and the lady, who said she was Ms. Scaliton, talked briefly. Nightmare then bent down beside us.
"I'll be back at the end of the school day, okay?" He said. He quickly hugged us and stood back up. Killer said something, but I missed it. I didn't want Nightmare to leave. What if he didn't come back? I quickly ran over and hugged him. "Horror?" He asked.
"Please don't leave us!" I pleaded. He knelt down beside me.
"I'll be back later." He said. "Just stay with Killer." I looked at him sadly. "I promise I'll be back, okay?" He rubbed the undamaged side of my skull. I let go and he continued walking away. Killer walked up beside me.
"Let's go in!" He said. I let him lead me inside. We put our backpacks in the wall and found our desks. They were right next to each other! I got a bit happier knowing that Killer was still with me.

The day began and Ms. Scaliton introduced herself.
"Okay everyone," she started "We're going to stand up, say our name, and something about us. I'm Ms. Scaliton and I like cats." She pointed to a kid on the end of me and Killer's table. He introduced himself. It soon got to Killer's turn. I watched him stand up.
"My name is Killer and I like knives." He shrugged along when he said the word knives.
"Ironic." Someone near him said.
I stood up next as Killer sat down. I was nervous.
"I-I'm Horror. And I like...chickens?" I wasn't thinking right. Chickens are delicious though, so I wasn't lying, I do like them. I sat back down and the person next to me went.
"You good, bro?" Killer whisper asked.
"Y-yeah. I don't know why I'm so nervous." I admitted.
"There's a lot of people here. It's okay. You're only used to our little family." Killer comforted.
After the icebreakers, the teacher read to us. That was better. It reminded me of the reading sessions we have with Nightmare. It made me miss him a bit more.
We continued through the day. Lunch was nice. Me and Killer ate the lunch Nightmare made us. It was good. We ran around at recess, playing a game of tag with other kids. One of them didn't seem to like us much though. One kid tried to touch Killer's soul. I stopped him. He understood once we explained it to him. The rest of the day was easy. Since it was the first day, the teacher was being pretty easy on us. She also knew that Dust would be joining us soon as she asked where he was. I said he got hurt. She said she'd hope he'll get better soon. The other kids who were on the bus already left. Nightmare arrived a moment later. I li up and ran over to him. We all hugged. I was so happy he was back. He didn't abandon us! He had another brief chat with Ms. Scaliton and we left.
"So, how was your day?" Nightmare asked as we walked into the living room, where Cross and Dust were playing video games.
"It was good. There was one boy named Scratch. He was a cat-person-thing. He was super nice. Right, Horror?" I agreed. That was the kid who tried to touch Killer's soul. Scratch was also the one who invited us to play tag.
"You'll have fun when you get to go Dust." I said.
"Sure." He sarcastically replied.
"Well you've got to go back. All the way until June." Nightmare said.
"Wait...really?" Killer asked.
"Mhm. It'll be fun though. Kindergarten is pretty fun." Nightmare reassured.
