Right now, Rubi and I were standing outside, staring at Detective Turner. I'm curious about what he's about to ask her. I know her stomach hurts because mine does right now. Detective Turner continued to smile at Rubi, who was looking at him with a mean mug. I'm hoping she doesn't say anything stupid to this guy.

"What were you doing last night at the police station?" He inquired.

Rubi and I exchanged shaken glances. Every officer and detective at the police station must have noticed Manny's information missing from the evidence room, and they must have checked the cameras and noticed Rubi was the last one there.

He doesn't really have anything on her because they don't have proof that she went inside. She was outside the building the entire time, and they most likely don't have anything on me because it was pitch black outside, and I was dressed in all black so they couldn't see me.

Rubi crossed her arms with a scowl on her face. "I was there because my car was acting up and I needed someone to look at it because I don't know how. Why do you even ask?"

With his hand in his pocket, the detective began rocking back and forth. "It's just funny how Manny's information vanished at the same time you pulled up to the police station. That's just insane to me."

Rubi laughed. "Well, that's funny because I didn't take them. I was standing outside my car while the officers checked it for me, so what else do you want to know?"

The detective exhaled a sigh. I know he sighed because he can't get any information from us, so I know he's frustrated right now. He looked at us for a split second before smiling.

"No, I don't have any more questions. I'll see you later, lovely ladies. Have a good day." He gave us a wave and walked away.

Both Rubi and I expelled air from our mouths. We were overjoyed when he left. I just hope he doesn't keep showing up at my house and interrogating me. If he doesn't leave me alone, I'm about to file a restraining order against his ass. He only wants us to fold and tell on Manny, which I'm not about to do.

Rubi had a scared expression on her face when she looked at me. "Girl, I was trying to play hard, but he scared the shit out of me. I swear on everything, I don't want to go to jail."

To console her, I placed my hands on her shoulders. "You're not going to jail. He doesn't even have proof that you stole Manny's information."

She shook her head and then gave me a sneering look. "Oh yeah, bitch, where are you going for breakfast? I want to come with you."

How did she find out I was going out for breakfast? Manny had to be talking shit about me. I really don't want to tell her why I'm going out because Rubi is already doing too much. Plus, if I tell her I'm going to see Trevante, she's going to freak out. I patted her on the shoulder and started walking towards the car.

"Uh uh, I need to go alone. I'll return as soon as possible. I promise it won't take long. I'll tell you more about it later."

Rubi gave me the middle finger. "Fuck you, hoe, we're no longer best friends."

I got into my car, cranked it up, and screamed out the window. "We don't have to be best friends because we'll always be sisters." I said this while laughing at her.

"Momma adopted you, so we aren't sisters." Before I could even respond, Rubi slammed the door in my face.

Because she is so dramatic and petty, I laughed. I whined the window shut and started backing out of the yard. I reversed the car and began driving down the road. I started listening to 42 Dugg's Maybach while riding down the road. I was jamming all the way to the location where Trevante was supposed to be. I invited him to eat at The Griddle Cafe with me.

It didn't take long for me to arrive at the restaurant. I'm sure he's annoyed with me because I took too long to arrive, but that wasn't my fault. I parked my car after finding a parking spot. I gathered my belongings and got out of my car. I noticed Trevante standing outside the building as I was walking towards it. He appeared to have a attitude or something, but his dark chocolate ass looked so fine.

He had a durag on his head and a diamond stud in his ear. He was also dressed in black jeans and a black and grayish shirt. He was also wearing a pair of black Air Jordan 5 Retro's. Just by looking at him, I can tell he's wearing some nice smelling cologne.

When I approached him, he smiled and looked at me. He hugged me tightly and wrapped his arm around me so that his hand was close to my butt. While we were hugging, I sniffed him and rolled my eyes to the back of my head because he smelled so good.

Trevante let go of his bear hug on me. "What's going on, ma? You're looking fine as hell."

I started blushing and cheesing profusely. "Thank you, Tre. Why did you appear to be grumpy before I approached you?"

Trevante's grin morphed into a frown. "Nah, don't worry about that shit. Let's go grab sum to eat. Ah nigga is starving."

I grinned. "Sure, let's go because I'm starving starving."

Trevante wrapped his arm around my neck and led me to a table. We wanted to eat outside because it felt nice and the sun was shining. We walked over to the table where we wanted to sit, and he pulled my chair out for me. I sat, and he walked over to his chair and sat as well.

We started looking at the menu, and honestly, everything looked good, and I couldn't decide what I wanted. It only took me a minute to figure out what I wanted. I finished looking at the menu and looked at Trevante to see if he was finished as well, but he was still looking at it, which meant he hadn't made a decision yet.

I burst out laughing. "What do you intend to eat? I see you looking down the menu intently."

He chuckled as he snatched his bread. "Honestly, everything on this bitch looks good, but I think I'll go with red velvet pancake with griddle potatoes."

I put the menu back on the table and closed it."I'd like chocolate chip cookie crusted french toast, creme de la creme french toast, and strawberries and cream waffles with a ground turkey patty."

Trevante drew his brows together and stared at me, perplexed. "Damn, what kind of appetite do you have? When you said you were starving starving, you were telling the truth."

I burst out laughing because he didn't have to say that. "I'm not sure why, but I'm extremely hungry today. I've never been this hungry before."

Trevante began to laugh as well. "I thought you were trying to get rid of the bloated stomach. If you eat all of that shit, you'll look even more bloated, ma."

I sighed and shrugged. "I know that. I guess I'll detox it out."

Trevante made a shaky motion with his head. "If you do that, you should not detox on a daily basis. If you do it every day, it will ruin your kidneys."

I rolled my eyes in a playful way. "Thank you for your advice, Dr. Trevante."

Trevante burst out laughing at my anecdote. The waitress then approached us and began asking what we wanted, and we both told the waitress what we wanted to eat and drink. We sat in silence after the waitress had left with our orders. Trevante, on the other hand, eventually broke the silence.

Trevante began to smear his hands together. "So, what were you hoping to discuss?"

I let out a sigh. "I was hoping we'd be able to talk about ourselves. I'd like to know where we stand and whether or not we'll be able to work things out between us."

Trevante took my hand in his and held it. "Angel, you already know how much I want things to work out between us because I adore you and know deep down inside that you're the only person I want to spend my life with. I want us to be together again, and you already know that. But the question is, are you ready to rekindle your relationship with me? Because it doesn't appear to be the case."

I gave him a puzzled look. "How come you're asking if I'm ready?"

Trevante took a deep breath and exhaled deeply. "Because it seemed like you and him were in love or something when I called you when you were in Mexico. I had no idea you were so close to him. I assumed you and he despised each other, but he's always in your ear like a gnat whenever I call."

I sighed heavily. "Please accept my apologies. Manny has a reputation for being a asshole. He did it solely to get under your skin. I should've told him right then and there to cut it out."

Trevante sighed again after a minute of staring at me. "Do you have feelings for him?"

I chuckled softly. "What?"

"Did you really fuck him, Angel? I just want to know if my instincts are correct."

I sucked my teeth. "Trevante, why do you keep asking me the same questions?"

Trevante began to look at me with a sorrowful expression on his face."This is why I keep asking the same question because you always avoid answering those two questions, so that's telling everything I need to know."

Now he's making me regret our breakfast date because he's getting on my nerves trying to figure out my relationship with Manny. I took my hands away from his and started packing my belongings because I was sick of hearing him talk about Manny.

I'm not sure why he's upset because he's the one who cheated, not me. Men despise it when you treat them the same way they treat you. Trevante sat me back down as I was about to get up.

Trevante sighed and fixed his gaze on me. "Ma, come on don't do me like that. My fault. I swear I'm not going to ask that shit again."

Trevante was making me feel bad because he was upset when I looked at him. I decided to deceive him in order to make him feel better. If I come out and say me and Manny did do it, I'm only going to make things worse. I took his hand in mine and clung to it.

"I didn't have any sexual relations with Manny. The only thing I did was hang out with his family, so let's stop talking about him."

Trevante smiled and nodded. I'm not sure if he believes me, but I hope he does and stops asking the same question over and over again. My phone started ringing just as Trevante was about to say something. I snatched up my phone and glanced at the screen, only to see Manny on the other end of the line.

I didn't pick up the phone because I didn't have anything to say to him right now, and I didn't want Trevante to get upset because Manny was calling.

Trevante was about to start talking again when my phone rang. I know it's Manny calling without even looking at the screen. I put my phone in my purse so it wouldn't bother me or him. After that, I smiled at Trevante, but he had a worried expression on his face.

"Are you sure you're not going answer yo shit?"

I sucked my teeth. "It's unimportant, so what were you about to say?"

Before Trevante could finish his sentence, the waitress arrived with our food, which made me very happy because I was very hungry. When the waitress brought us our food and drinks, I started eating right away. I looked up at Trevante after a couple of bites to see if he was eating and he wasn't, just staring at me.

I put my hand over my mouth. "How come you're staring at me like that?"

Trevante began to look at me up and down. "Damn little lady, you sure can put it away."

I burst out laughing because that scene from White Chicks was so amusing. I started laughing too loudly and spilled my drink all over my clothes. Being clumsy just kills the whole mood. Trevante reached over and cleaned up the mess on my shirt for me as I was about to wipe it off.

Trevante rose from his seat at the table. "I'll be right back, let me get you another drink."

"Tre, thank you so much."

He stood up and walked into the restaurant to get me another drink. I returned to eating my food, and while I was doing so, my phone began to ring again. I took my phone from my purse and looked at the screen; it was Manny calling me again. I'm not sure why he keeps calling because I'm not going to answer. He's squandering his time by calling me.

Trevante took about a minute to get me another drink. He approached me with my drink in his hand. I notice someone in a black hoodie staring at me before he can even sit down. The person was holding a cup and drinking from it. I took a closer look and realized it was Manny. He was mugging me as he sipped his drink.

How the fuck does he know where I am? I then recall him telling me that when he got me the new phone, he put a tracking device in it. I completely forgot about it. Trevante sat down, blocking Manny's view of me. I'm surprised Trevante didn't notice him at all.

Trevante set the glass in front of me. "Here you go, ma, don't spill that shit."

I laughed softly. "Shut up; this time I'm not going to waste my drink."

Trevante laughed and sat down to eat his meal. We were both silently eating our meals. However, out of nowhere, my phone dings, and the sound of that ding informs me that I have received a text message. It was a text from Manny, so I grabbed my phone and looked at it.

❤️

Why didn't you invite me to brunch?

I rolled my eyes and closed my phone. Manny is so annoying and aggravating, I swear. I resumed eating my meal. I just hope Manny doesn't come over and end up causing a commotion in front of everyone. I was thinking about asking Trevante about Alexis while I was eating my food. Every time, all he wanted to do was talk about me and Manny, so I'm curious if he's officially over Alexis.

I wipe the food from my mouth with a napkin. "So, Trevante?"

Trevante looked at me with a "huh" expression. "Wassup?"

"Are you certain you're finished with Alexis?"

Trevante pressed his brows together and looked at me with a "the fuck" expression on his face. "Of course, I'm done with that delusional ass hoe. I told her that our little fling was a one-time thing and that it was never meant to happen. I also told her she was a mistake, and she went insane when I told her that. She been on a nigga ass ever since."

I burst out laughing. "Oh, she's definitely giving Mariah vibes. But I know one thing for sure: she better not fuck with me like Mariah did, because I promise you I'll whoop that girl."

Trevante grinned. "Nah, that girl is scary. She's not going to fuck with you. In high school, that girl was bullied."

I looked at him with a shocked expression on my face. That was not something I expected him to say about her. She appears to be the type in school; she was the popular kid who bullied others. We both returned to eating the last of our food. While we were eating, I noticed a black Jeep Wrangler with big tires pass by. I began to tap Trevante on the arm.

"Tre, take a look at that Jeep. That jeep is stunning. I need that Jeep." I told him cheerfully.

Trevante grinned. "You really want that Jeep, don't you?"

I cracked a grin. "That is, in essence, my dream car."

Trevante indicated with a nod of his head. "Bet, I'll make something happen."

We talked and laughed for the rest of the date. To be honest, I'm relieved that we're progressing in our relationship. A minute flew by, and I was finally ready to go. We got up from the table and placed our tips on it. I looked around to see if Manny was still around, but I couldn't find him.

When I get home, I'm probably going to have to get ready for his ass. Trevante grabbed my hand and intertwined his fingers with mine as we started walking. We started talking towards my car. When we arrived at my car, I began to feel fatigued. Trevante must have noticed because he gripped me tightly.

"You a'ight ma? I notice you're dragging a little. If you want, I can drive you home."

I gave a shaky smile. "No, you're not required to do that. I got it. It's just that I'm a little tired. This breakfast date with you was delightful. Thank you very much for coming."

Trevante began assisting me inside my vehicle. "No, worries ma; you know I've got you covered. I had a great time with your adorable ass. You just have to make sure you get home safely."

I fasted my seatbelt. "Thank you, and I'll do so. I'll call you later."

Trevante gave me a kiss on the forehead. "A'ight ma, be careful."

I smiled and nodded at Trevante. He shut my door and patted the door to my car, indicating that I was now free to leave. I started driving to the house after he began walking to his car.

——————————————————————-

I pulled into the driveway and noticed Manny's car was there. I notice Spooky car isn't here, which means he and Rubi must have gone somewhere. I knew I'd have to deal with Manny's mess, so I tried to mentally prepare myself. I turned off my car, grabbed my belongings, and exited.

I walked up to the door and flung it open. When I heard the television turn on, I looked in the direction of the sound and saw Manny sitting in the living room, watching television.

I ignored him and entered the kitchen. I went into the kitchen and grabbed a banana and a bottle of water because I was still feeling a little fatigued. I heard the television turn off while I was eating my banana and drinking my water. I can already tell he's about to embark on his foolishness.

Manny entered the kitchen and jumped on the counter, staring at me as if he wanted to attack me. I ate my banana slowly while keeping a straight face.

Manny sighed deeply. "So, what was the point of that?"

I looked at Manny as if he were a stupid. "Point of what?"

Manny laughed. "Angel, don't get too fucked up in here. You know exactly what the fuck I'm referring to. Why were you meeting with ole dude?"

I sighed and shrugged. "I'm not sure what you're on about."

Manny leaped from the counter and walked up to me, a furious expression on his face. He was staring me down. On my face, I can feel his breath. "You like to irritate me, huh? You're not going to like it if I jump on your ass. You'd better get to work on the explanation."

I laughed out loud. "I'm not going to explain anything until you tell me who you were with the same night I had to steal your evidence papers."
