Today was my mother's last day, and I was relieved since I didn't want her to know about the people I killed or sold drugs to. I didn't want her to know about Manny's real job. If she had discovered any of these things, as I previously stated, she would have been devastated.
My sister and mother, as well as myself, will be dead. I pushed myself out of bed and stretched. I took a step towards the bathroom and I was completely naked.
I washed my body for a longer period of time than usual since I wanted to get rid of all the filth. I jumped out of the shower and brushed my teeth after that. After that, I washed my face, dried off, and put on my panties and bra. I began my search for an outfit and discovered one about 5 minutes later.
💓
I decided to put on something warm and comfortable. I finished by flat ironing my hair. My mother was packing her clothing when I came downstairs, and Rubi was assisting her. I regret not being able to spend more time with her, but it is not my fault. Manny is to blame for my lack of opportunity.
Rubi and my mother smiled as they gazed up at me.
"Good morning, sweetheart. Did you have a good night's sleep last night?" My mother inquired while folding her clothes.
I sighed and drew my arms across my chest. "I slept well. How about you two? Did you get a good night's sleep?
I lied because I didn't get a good night's sleep knowing Trevante was still in the hospital and I shot Mariah by accident last night. I'm sure I'll be questioned about that soon.
Rubi stuck her tongue out and began dancing. "I got a good night's sleep because Spooky came and put it down."
My mother and I both looked at Rubi's disgusted expression. My mother and I both rolled our eyes.
My mother had given up on folding her clothes. "Wait, who the fuck is a Spooky? I know you didn't have sex with a man in this house last night."
Rubi scratched the back of her neck. "No one, momma. I was just joking."
My mother rolled her eyes and resumed folding her clothes. "It had better be nobody and Angel, where did you go yesterday? You left and didn't tell anyone anything."
"Manny had asked me to help him out. It's not a big deal, but I'm very sad you have to leave today."
I'm not depressed because she's leaving. I'm overjoyed because Manny and I no longer have to pretend in front of her, and I don't have to worry about her discovering anything.
My mother chuckled softly. "I understand. I wish we could have spent more time together, but I know you're all right. For the time being, I'd like you to call me and let me know if everything is fine so that I don't have to make another trip here."
"All right, momma, we'll do that." Rubi and I both said it at the same time.
My mother had finished folding her clothes and was packing them into her suitcase. "Are you coming back with me, Rubi? Because we all know Angel is fine now."
Rubi and I exchanged glances and scratched the backs of our necks. Rubi is unable to leave because she will perish if she does.
Rubi approached me and hugged me. "No, I want to spend more time with Angel. To ensure that she is always safe."

She sighed as she zipped up her suitcase. "All right, Rubi. I want you to be on your best behavior before I leave. Please do not ignore my calls and please answer them when I call. I adore you guys. My sweet babies."
She stood up and hugged us tightly for a long time. I started crying a little, but quickly wiped my tears away. I swear I wished we could have gone somewhere and had fun, but I couldn't. We hugged for 10 seconds before letting each other go. We straightened ourselves up and smiled. I'm sure she would have stayed longer if she hadn't been so preoccupied with work.
She gathered her belongings and made her way to the front door. "I have a lot of paper work to finish, so I need to get back home. I also have a client to attend to. That's why I'm leaving so early."
Rubi and I picked up her belongings and proceeded towards the taxi.
Rubi burst up laughing. "We're aware. I hope you succeed in your case Mom."
My mother made a stupid face as she stared at Rubi. "Oh, best and believe me when I say Momma is going to win her case. You know no one is going to be able to stop me."
Rubi and I both burst out laughing. We loaded all of her belongings into the taxi's trunk. I didn't recognize the car that pulled up. It was a black 2019 Cadillac CTS with rims on it. Manny got out of the car when it came to a stop. Why does he feel compelled to come here?
Right now, I don't even want to look at him. He smiled as he looked at me, his hands in his pockets. When my mother saw him, she approached him and hugged him.
"Hey, Manny, I was about to depart to return home." My mom replied as she let go from the hug.
He wore a grin on his face. "Oh really? I wish you could have stayed a little longer. I had a great time having you here with us."
My mother gave him a gentle pat on the shoulder. "Aw, thank you so much. Please take care of my daughter on my behalf."
He smirked as he stared at me. "Oh, I'll make sure I look after her. I swear."
My mom gave me and Rubi a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She then got into the cab and waved goodbye as it went away down the road. Rubi scratched the back of neck as she glanced at Manny.
"I'm going to leave you two alone." As she entered the house, she said.
I had a look of disbelief on my face. " Rubi, please don't le-"
Rubi slammed the door in my face before I could complete my sentence. Why did she have to abandon me out here with him? Because of what he did to Trevante, I don't even want to be near him.
He licked the inside of his lower lip. "You look fine as hell in that dress."
I made a neutral expression on his face. "Yeah, thanks. What do you want?"
He laughed. "You."
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "I'm not going to play any games with you. What do you want for real?"
He bit his lower lip. "I came here to get the rest of my money. Is that a problem for you?"
I pointed to the door with my hand. "No, that is not a problem for me. Please grab it and get out of here."

For a brief while, he locked his gaze on me. Because I gave him attitude, I knew he was ready to say something smart, but I swiftly walked into the house before he could say anything. We both headed upstairs, he trailing behind me. I can feel his gaze fixed on my booty. I knew I should've let him take the lead and went up the stairs first. I opened the bedroom door and allowed him in.
I pointed at the dresser. "Your money is stashed in the dresser."
He nodded and took the money from the dresser and placed it in a bag. He stopped and glanced at me when he finished putting the money in the bag.
I drew my arms around my chest and stared at him. "How come you're staring at me? Do you want to say something?"
"Actually, I do. In a few weeks, we will be going to Mexico."
My face was etched with a wow look. "Can you tell me why we're going to Mexico?"
His jaw was clenched. "Because that FBI agent is interrogating you about me, and the FEDS are getting close to apprehending me. We must remain in Mexico till everything has died down."
"I'm afraid I won't be able to accompany you to Mexico. I need to stay here with my man so that I can care for him."
He laughed. "And I'm afraid that's not going to happen, darling. Whatever I say is final, and you are aware of this."
I didn't want to dispute with him since I wasn't in the mood to argue with him. He grabbed my arm as I was ready to walk out of the room.
He was wearing a maniacal grimace on his face. "Don't do that."
I yanked my arm away from him. "I would have gone to Mexico with you if you hadn't shot Trevante, but your dumb ass had to shoot him."
He shrugged his shoulders. "It's not my fault. Maybe he shouldn't have spend my money. He'd have been up and walking."
I locked my gaze on him, furious. "Oh, how I despise you. I absolutely despise you."
He cocked his head and smirked. "Aww, that's too bad, since I adore you more than Trevante weak ass."
I slapped him in the face because you're not going to treat Trevante like he's not human. He drew his palm up to his face and gazed at me with a look of rage in his eyes. I'm starting to feel bad about hitting him now. He approached me and forced me to walk backwards to the wall. He had his sights set on me. On my neck, I can feel the air from his nostrils. The large lump in my throat was swallowed.
He snatched my arms and held them up above my head. He was right up in my face, breathing heavily.
"Never, ever put your fucking hands on me. I'm doing my best not to hurt your lil ass, but you're making it difficult for me. I will literally choke the shit out of you, lil girl. Now, if I say you're going to Mexico, you're going to Mexico. Stop fucking playing with me."
I fixed my gaze on him with the same expression he was wearing. His lips were so close to mine that I began sweating and becoming hot. When he realized he was making me so hot, he smirked at me. He let go of my hands, and they fell to my side.
He was about to walk out when he came to a halt. "I need you to do me a favor."
I stomped my feet and rolled my eyes. I'm hoping it's nothing too drastic because I already know he's sending me to do something that's way too much for me when he says that.
I rolled my neck and folded my arms. "What are you expecting me to do this time? You've already received your funds."
He laughed. "Oh no, darling, you owe me. You forgot about your shopping trip with your ole dude? You will work for me till my funds replenish. Anyway, I need you to drop off something for me at this location."
Because I spent some of his money, I should've expected him to make me do more things. He took his phone out of his pocket and started texting. A message arrived in a split second. The location was sent to me by Manny.
I took a peek at the location he sent me, then returned my gaze to him. "To whom am I delivering drugs?"
He smiled at me with a mischievous grin. "You will see. Simply notify me when you arrive, and make sure your sister joins you."
With a serious expression on my face, I stared at him. "Why are you forcing her to go with me? She don't need to go with me. She needs to stay at home."
He laughed. "Nah, she'll surely accompany you. Please don't interrogate my decisions. Now get ready to make the drop for me."
He exited the room by opening the door. I'm not sure why, but he's making me nervous about this delivery. Manny has something up his sleeve, and I have a sense he doesn't want to tell me what's actually going on. I disregarded it as I prepared to deliver these drugs.
————————————————————————
Rubi and I were on our way to the address Manny had given me. Rubi didn't want to go, but I insisted because if she hadn't, things would have gotten out of hand. My gaze was fixed on the road, while she was looking out the window. We were all calm until Cocky Asf by Megan Thee Stallion came on. We exchanged glances before beginning to dance.
"Hey, cocky as fuck, everything 'bout me poppin' Got face, I got body you name it, I got it." I rapped.
She started bopping after pointing at me."Cocky as fuck, bitch you know I'm conceited Yo' hoe wanna be me, yo' nigga wanna eat it."
I aimed my finger at her and started rapping the lines loudly. "Cocky as fuck, everything 'bout me poppin' got face, I got body you name it, I got it."
She made a two-finger gesture in the air."Cocky as fuck, nigga fuck your opinion
I hustle to get it, I get it, I get it."
Until we arrived at our location, we rapped the entire song. As soon as we arrived, I noticed that we were in the middle of nothing, yet close to a dilapidated farm barn.
Rubi started looking at me with a terrified expression on her face. "Uh uh, how come we're parked in the middle of nowhere, and it's pitch black dark? It's like if we're in a horror film or something. I don't like this shit at all Angel. I have a feeling jeeper creepers will appear at any moment."
I began to look around. "I'm as perplexed as you are. Let me call him and inquire as to why we are here."
I took out my phone and dialed Manny's number. He answered after only two rings.
"Wassup mama?" He answered.
I swear I despise it when he refers to me as that. Why can't he just use my real name or something?
"How come we're in the middle of nowhere? I assumed we were delivering drugs to someone, and I also assumed we were pulling up to a real house, not a raggedy ass barn." I said to him in a very smart tone.
"Okay, so you made it to the location. Allow me to call you back."
He hung up so quickly that he didn't even give me a chance to say anything back, and he didn't even explain why Rubi and I were here. What has Manny got us up to? I'm starting to worry now.
Rubi gave me the same terrified look. "What did he say? What are we doing out here?"
I sighed and shrugged. "He didn't say anything. He simply stated that he would call me back."
Rubi let out a sigh. We waited for Manny to call, but he never did. I didn't want to leave because what if I did, he probably would've called back. After a few moments, I heard the back door open. Rubi and I screamed like hell. A man dressed in an orange jumpsuit jumped into the car. I know damn well Manny didn't made me come out here and pick up a runaway inmate.
The man was filthy as hell, and he was exhaling heavily. He must've escaped from prison by digging underground. He was smearing dirt and mud all over my seats. Manny had placed a box in the back seat, which the guy opened to reveal clothes inside. He removed the jumpsuit and changed into the clothes from the box. I was convinced that the box contained drugs the entire time.
He's Mexican just like Manny. When I looked out the window, I saw all the police officers driving by.
He began motioning for me to leave. "Please drive away before they get me."
I drove away so quickly that I kicked up a cloud of dust. I couldn't figure out what was going on. When I turned around, I noticed he was still breathing heavily.
"What exactly are you doing? Manny didn't tell me I had to pick up an inmate?" In a worried tone, I said to him.
"Well, he told me that his la compañera was on her way to pick me up, and he told me when I should come out the hole and when I do come out, I should be able to see your car." In his thick Mexican accent, he explained.
When he said something in Spanish, Rubi and I looked at each other, perplexed.
"What the hell is la compañera?" Rubi asked.
"It translates to 'my girlfriend' in Spanish." He spoke to us.
Rubi burst out laughing. I rolled my eyes at her because I should have known she'd laugh. I hope Manny stops telling him I'm his girlfriend because I'm not. It's giving me delusional vibes.
"First and foremost, I am not Manny's girlfriend. I'm not sure why he told you that lie." In a smart tone, I said to him.
He burst out laughing. "No way dude, Manny wouldn't lie to me. You know you and him are in a relationship."
I burst out laughing. "I'm more serious than a heart attack. Him and I aren't together. I'd rather mop the ocean than fuck with Manny. I'm currently in a relationship with someone else."
"Aw shit, Manny isn't going to like that dawg."
"I don't give a shit about what he doesn't like. Just know that I don't like his ass." I rolled my eyes at him.
"For real? That's cold dawg." He said to me.
Rubi abruptly cut both of us off. "Enough of that, why the hell were you locked up, and how the hell did you get out?"
"I was imprisoned for drug trafficking. In Manny's gang, I was the most powerful drug trafficker. I was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years. I'm only 29 years old, so I haven't lived my entire life yet. Myself and a couple of other inmates decided to flee, and we began brainstorming ideas. We began digging holes and eventually found a way out." He explained.
I had no time to respond to what he had said. We were approaching a roadblock. There were a lot of police officers present, and Rubi and I began to panic. I'm pretty sure the police officers are there because of the guy in the car with us and the other inmates who have escaped. Because the line was so long, we had to wait a little longer.
Rubi turned around and face the guy. "Bitch, you need to get the fuck out and walk because we're not going to prison because of you. Do you know what they're going to do to our pretty asses in there?"
He threw up his hands. "Chill out, homie, maybe I can hide on the floor and y'all can throw stuff on me to cover me up."
With a shake of her head, Rubi expressed her dissatisfaction with the situation. "No, you need to get your ass out of here and phone Manny to come get you. Those police officers aren't dumb. They'll see your big dumb ass lying on the floor."
To make Rubis glance at me, I grasped her arm. "You already know we can't let him go. Manny will kill the two of us if we do that. We don't have any other options now, so we might as well follow his lead."
She took a long breath and rolled her eyes. "We're going to get raped in prison, girl. I'm not interested in going."
I sucked my teeth at her. "Stop saying that bullshit, girl. We're not going to prison. We're going to be fine."
She palmed her face. We began throwing our jackets and purses on him while he lay on the floor. We were the next ones to be checked when we were done with throwing the stuff on him. We approached a female police officer who was holding a flashlight. As soon as I came close to her, I whined down my window. She shone the flashlight on Rubi and me, and I cracked a smile.
"Could you please show me your driver's license?" The officer inquired.
I took my wallet from my pocket, opened it, and pulled out my driver's license, which I handed to her. She gave it back to me after a brief period of contemplation. She shone the flashlight inside the car and stared for a minute. I was becoming concerned since I assumed she was aware that there was a person on the floor.
The officer then returned to the driver's side. "Could you please open your trunk for me?"

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week.
