《My Music Box》Chapter 8

"Hey," You say, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
You've been waiting down here, pretty much all alone. Everyday you regretted not giving the box to him while you were alive, but seeing how things played out, that appeared not to matter anymore. You thought you had failed, but.... here he was, with your music box.
He slowly turns his head to face you, and gasps.
And, you smile, seeing that his eyes are no longer empty.
There are tears in his eyes. There are emotions in his eyes.
There's no mask on him now, and you can't help but beam, because you've won. He's not hiding or acting anymore. You can tell.
"L-L?" He mutters, glassy eyes wide. "How.... how are you here?!"
You shrug. "Well, when people die, we go down to the Underwhere, unless we were super good or something."
"N-no, but you're apart of the man in green. Y-you... how... how are you down here?!"
You continue smiling, and glance at the broken box. "Luigi IS alive. I am not. When Jaydes sent the heroes back, she didn't send me back with him. She kept me down here."
"Oh," He mumbles, looking down. "L, I-"
"I see you've got the box," You say, interrupting him.
In this moment, that's all that matters. Because it means he listened to you. Even if you were too late, he eventually came through and got the box. You don't care that it's broken. You don't care that you never got the chance to give it to him in person. He has it, and that's all that matters.
"Yes," He says. "I got the box."
"Did it help you?" You ask, holding your hands behind your back, rocking back and forth on your heels. You already know the answer, because he wouldn't be crying if it didn't. He wouldn't be acting this way if it didn't.

"...Yes," He says. "It did. It.... really did."
You smile more. "I'm sorry I wasn't brave enough to give it to you sooner."
He waits in silence, that shocked look still on his face. You've never seen him look at you this way before. It's nice, you think. It's nice.
".... Would you like me to fix it?" You ask, eyeing all the broken parts. You don't care that it's broken, since it already served it's purpose. It already helped him take that metaphorical mask off. You can see in his face that it worked. But, if he want's it fixed, you can fix it for him.
"..... No," He says, after a long pause. Then, he gently smiles back at you. This is a smile you've never seen on him. It's nice too. You like it far more than his fake smile. "I....I don't think I need it fixed anymore."
You beam, and offer your hand. "Alright," You say.
In your head you hear the music box still playing. You remember the time you spent, making it for him, in hopes that it would work. You still hear the soft tune, and can't help but smile. You think back to your time in Castle Bleck, and, at this moment, you're glad you spent so much time learning about and analyzing everyone, or maybe perhaps you'd still be alone down here.
You thank that little voice, who hasn't been in your head since you've died. You don't want to admit it, but you kinda miss that voice. You wish it the best in it's life, and hope it finds it's purpose.
But you? You feel like your purpose has finally been fulfilled. You helped him. Even though you were to late, you made him the box. It feels like this is what you were destined to do. And you smile. It's a good purpose to have, you think. To help someone free their emotions and be themselves. What a glorious purpose to have.

He grabs ahold of your hand tightly, as if he's afraid you'll disappear any second now. But you give his hand a reassuring squeeze, which tells him that you're here, and you won't leave him.
He looks at you with awe, as if a part of him still doesn't believe you're there. You like seeing his different expressions. You like him better this way, without that mask. You like him when he doesn't hide himself.
"Are you alright," You ask him. He pauses, then nods and leans into you.
"Yes."
You smile and look forward. "Good."
And you walk off, never looking back at the box.
Maybe someday someone will fix it. It doesn't matter.
You don't look back.
You just hold his hand, and walk forward.

A Forgotten Hero
(author: This is gonna be a long synopsis I apologise. This should be a prolouge but as you will see I have a seperate prolouge, please forgive me. This fiction as a warning beforehand is as basic as it comes, prettymuch following all story conventions of both the mecha and school life genres. I am mostly writing this to figure out my writing style before I begin something truly creative and uique. I dont wanna ruin something I worked hard on by being illiterate. Also illustrations are at a minimum because all I have access to is MS paint.) In the year 2028 humanity (accidentally) created the means to travel great distances through space in a short period of time. This has led humanity down the road of great technological advancement and also led to the spread of humanity across their home system and just begiining first steps upon other solar systems planets. In the year 2033 the human colonies in space broke from the chains of their old countries creating hyper advanced societies disregarding nationality and any other defining factor. Two space societies formed the Solar Empire a monarchic society with its capitol on the moon Titan which controeld the entire human home system aside from Earth which still remained divided into seperate contries. The other was the Extra-solar Leauge. A mysterious society outside of easy contact range with any other humans besides themselves. To help with construction and other work outside of sealed and breatheable atmospheres of their cities and ships the Solar Empire and Extra-Solar Leauge created what became known as Advanced Movement Shells(AMS). These machines are best described as huge exoskeletons or "mechs", and they aided greatly in getting things done by increasing strength, durability, and the amount of tools able to be used. They also aided in quelling rebellions among extremist groups forming in these new societies. Finally in the year 2050 the Solar Empire having divinated their emperor, and now beliving themselves to be their religions chosen people, the Solar Empire declared a holy war of conquest against all the nations of Earth in order to conquer it under the idea that all humanity was required to bend to their divine emperors rule. The first month of the war whent badly for earth as the divided nations fell one by one due to the Empires superior weaponry among other technologies which made their forces nearly invincible. The AMS were used to great effect due to their almost "magical" level of technological advancement. Some nations able to put up some kind of defense created their own versions of these technological terrors. From there the war became a brutal stalemate and suddenly was won by the forces of earth. Why this is still hasn't come to the light of the common man, but one thing is for certain it took a heroic effort from one, or many people to win it for humanity...
