《My Music Box》Chapter 8

"Hey," You say, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
You've been waiting down here, pretty much all alone. Everyday you regretted not giving the box to him while you were alive, but seeing how things played out, that appeared not to matter anymore. You thought you had failed, but.... here he was, with your music box.
He slowly turns his head to face you, and gasps.
And, you smile, seeing that his eyes are no longer empty.
There are tears in his eyes. There are emotions in his eyes.
There's no mask on him now, and you can't help but beam, because you've won. He's not hiding or acting anymore. You can tell.
"L-L?" He mutters, glassy eyes wide. "How.... how are you here?!"
You shrug. "Well, when people die, we go down to the Underwhere, unless we were super good or something."
"N-no, but you're apart of the man in green. Y-you... how... how are you down here?!"
You continue smiling, and glance at the broken box. "Luigi IS alive. I am not. When Jaydes sent the heroes back, she didn't send me back with him. She kept me down here."
"Oh," He mumbles, looking down. "L, I-"
"I see you've got the box," You say, interrupting him.
In this moment, that's all that matters. Because it means he listened to you. Even if you were too late, he eventually came through and got the box. You don't care that it's broken. You don't care that you never got the chance to give it to him in person. He has it, and that's all that matters.
"Yes," He says. "I got the box."
"Did it help you?" You ask, holding your hands behind your back, rocking back and forth on your heels. You already know the answer, because he wouldn't be crying if it didn't. He wouldn't be acting this way if it didn't.

"...Yes," He says. "It did. It.... really did."
You smile more. "I'm sorry I wasn't brave enough to give it to you sooner."
He waits in silence, that shocked look still on his face. You've never seen him look at you this way before. It's nice, you think. It's nice.
".... Would you like me to fix it?" You ask, eyeing all the broken parts. You don't care that it's broken, since it already served it's purpose. It already helped him take that metaphorical mask off. You can see in his face that it worked. But, if he want's it fixed, you can fix it for him.
"..... No," He says, after a long pause. Then, he gently smiles back at you. This is a smile you've never seen on him. It's nice too. You like it far more than his fake smile. "I....I don't think I need it fixed anymore."
You beam, and offer your hand. "Alright," You say.
In your head you hear the music box still playing. You remember the time you spent, making it for him, in hopes that it would work. You still hear the soft tune, and can't help but smile. You think back to your time in Castle Bleck, and, at this moment, you're glad you spent so much time learning about and analyzing everyone, or maybe perhaps you'd still be alone down here.
You thank that little voice, who hasn't been in your head since you've died. You don't want to admit it, but you kinda miss that voice. You wish it the best in it's life, and hope it finds it's purpose.
But you? You feel like your purpose has finally been fulfilled. You helped him. Even though you were to late, you made him the box. It feels like this is what you were destined to do. And you smile. It's a good purpose to have, you think. To help someone free their emotions and be themselves. What a glorious purpose to have.

He grabs ahold of your hand tightly, as if he's afraid you'll disappear any second now. But you give his hand a reassuring squeeze, which tells him that you're here, and you won't leave him.
He looks at you with awe, as if a part of him still doesn't believe you're there. You like seeing his different expressions. You like him better this way, without that mask. You like him when he doesn't hide himself.
"Are you alright," You ask him. He pauses, then nods and leans into you.
"Yes."
You smile and look forward. "Good."
And you walk off, never looking back at the box.
Maybe someday someone will fix it. It doesn't matter.
You don't look back.
You just hold his hand, and walk forward.

Palus Somni (‘Marsh of Sleep’) is a worldbuilding webnovel about what happens when your God forsakes you. Inspired by gothic horror and mingled with British myth and folklore, join the Alucinari nuns as they struggle with day-to-day life after the world has ended. Every night when the sun sets the monstrous Gol, colossal beings with too many teeth, awaken and roam the marshlands. Only those with a faithful heart will be spared. Young acolyte Wille has never seen the walls fail, but when a fellow nun is murdered within their sanctum the very safety of the monastery is thrown into question. Did the Gol find a way to breach their defences, or is there a human traitor amongst them? The answer lies both far in the past and deep beneath the earth, through the maze of ancient catacombs. With a cast of over thirty different characters, watch as your friends and enemies spiral into inevitable madness at the hands of a callous and unforgiving world. Discover the secrets of Palus Somni through letters, diary entries and notes found scattered across the monastery. Each character has their own handmade pixel art, and every update includes a music recommendation for a dark atmospheric dungeon synth album that you can listen to while you read. Slice of life meets cosmic abomination: Palus Somni is a collection of intertwining stories, some chapters are stand-alone tales while others feed into the overarching narrative. It is an exploration into a community, and rather than focusing on any one character the story meanders through the convent, exposing the hopes and fears of its inhabitants. Story updates every full moon.

The New Buggy Pirates
As a fan of One Piece, I've never liked the way they handled Buggy. He's a great character and all, don't get me wrong, but he should be on the same level as Shanks. Instead, they turned him into the worthless character he is, and that never sat right with me. In this story, he becomes something more than just comic relief. AU. Strong!Buggy Intelligent!Buggy This story is also on fanfiction.net written by me under the same username: Tallictr. Credit for anything original that I added to the One Piece story goes to me. Credit for everything (characters, settings, etc.) goes to Eiichiro Oda. (He created One Piece)

Wolf will have to scavenge for food, ammunition and most importantly water while on the hunt. This world is scorching, dry, and desolate. Will she survive and put an end to Mirra? Will she be able to leave her past behind and forge a brighter future? Will she have to be as ruthless as her captors and murder and steal from the innocent to survive? Author’s Notes: My work is often graphic and mature in nature. I only recommend it for the fans who are not faint of heart. This work will contain swears and violence. Alternative Option: Skip to [Chapter 6 - Introduction] if you would like to meet Wolf while skipping over the extra violent and gory beginnings of this grim adventure. Note for artists: I'd love to feature your content if you decide to do Wolf of the Wasteland art. I'm excited to see what Wolf looks like visualized.
