《letters to richie | richie tozier》14

november 22st, 1990
after eddie left, I decided to get ready for the day
i had to find richie
i had to end all of this right, and besides, richie is going back to new york in two days so i'll never have to see him again
i got up out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower
once i was done, i put on some mascara, blush, and lipgloss, and chose my outfit for the day
it was a sweater and jeans with converse
steve had left for his job he had on weekends, so the house was empty
after i ate breakfast, there was a knock on the door
i walked over to the door and opened it,
no one was there,
but there was a note
it read
'meet me at the diner in fifteen minutes
r'
richie
oh my god
it was time
it was finally time for closure
to break up with him and forget all about him
before i left, i sat on the floor debating whether or not to actually go
but, i decided to go
i walked out the door and locked it behind me
i decided to walk, it took about fifteen minutes to walk from my house to the diner,
but from all the pain richie has put me in, i'm sure he can wait five minutes
once i got to the diner, i took a deep breath
this is it.
this is the end of an era
this is the end of me and richie
forever
it's going to hurt like hell but there's no way around it
no, i'm not going to do it
i can leave now, but as i peered in the window, i made eye contact with someone
'richie'
his hair had gotten longer, and curlier

he wasn't wearing glasses, he probably got contacts while he was in new york
i turned around, and began to run
run to the meadows
i couldn't go back to my house
he'd know i would go there
after running about ten blocks, i heard footsteps behind me
'vic, can we please just talk?' he asked
'fine. but you don't have much time. now let's go to a more private place' i told him, knowing that if i do end up crying, it won't be in a public place
'where?'
'the meadows.'
we stood up, across from each other while not saying one word
a couple more seconds passed, and richie started to talk
'how are you, victoria?'
how could he ask such a question? after all he's done to me
'i'm sorry, it was a mistake'
'if it was a mistake you should never have had done it'
'i know, please forgive me. i love you'
'i forgave you when you kissed greta. i forgave you when you kissed max. you said you'd never do it again. but you did'
'it meant nothing'
'that doesn't matter one bit, richie. you did it and that's what matters. you went behind my back and kissed i don't know how many girls while you were away! i was waiting here all alone waiting for you to come back!'
'vic, the only girl i want is you' richie pleaded, tears brimming from his eyes
'well, you know what,'
'what? will you give me a second chance? please?' he almost whispered the please
'you can't always get what you want' i said and turned around and left
he didn't follow me

It's just another Thanksgiving for the Sullivans—until the walls disappear and they discover they are being transported to Arenia, a place where game rules are real and their Earthen ability to reincarnate grants them unlimited potential. Or it would, if the celestial administrator in charge of their case hadn't mixed up longitude and latitude and sent the wrong family. Oops. Too bad he already faked their deaths. Now scattered throughout the Arenian wilderness and armed only with their Tomes—books containing all of their skills, accomplishments, and quests—the family members must discover a strength they didn't know they had if they are going to survive long enough to find each other. Note: Contains some profanity and a turkey, but not a profane turkey. Personally, I'm fine with profane turkeys, but if that's where you draw the line, you should know there are none in this book. In fact, I'm going to promise you no profane turkeys for the entire series. That's my gift to you.
