Chapter 13
Unlucky number
Stefan Salvatore walked in on the Gilbert's painting Alarics room.
"going darker huh?" Stefan commented looking at the walls of the room.
"it's the only colour we had" Elena replied as she continued to paint.
"that's what happens when you decide to paint your dead guardian's room in the middle of the night" Beth sassed as she was woken up at 4 am. It was safe to say all three Gilbert's where taken ric's death hard.
"I dont suppose anyone tried to talk you guys out of doing this so soon?" Stefan asked three once again legal orphans.
"we have to keep moving, otherwise we'll start thinking and I don't wanna think" Elena confessed as she continued to paint the walls.
"You wanna hand" the vampire offered picking up one of the paint brushes.
"So are you two lime back together or what?" Jeremy questioned the ex couple become unbelievably flustered amusing the youngest Gilbert girl.
"I just came to check upon you guys see how you was doing after everything" stefan replied to Jeremy Bethan knew he was here for Elena.
"we're fine" The youngest Gilbert exclaimed throwing down his brush.
"but if you are trying to be the good guy again why don't you give us one day Just one day with no vampire in it" Jeremy yelled and with that he stormed out the room.
"I'll go" Bethan announced following him out the room.
"Hey jer? How you doing?" Beth asked leaning against his bedroom door.
"I'm just sick of it, that the third guardian we've had to bury in a year due to vampires, witches and Werewolf's I just want one day where they can't screw it up" he confessed to his sister, Beth took the seat next to Jeremy.
"atleast you don't have an original hybrid who has the hots for you" Bethan joker trying to cheer him up
"out of everyone klaus chose you" the brown eyed boy stated rolling his eyes.
"and what's wrong with me?" Bethan mocked hurt trying to get a laugh out of her brother.
"please your like the worst girlfriend material ever" now Bethan really was shocked she knew she wasn't the best but she certain wasn't the worst.
"Tyler likes to talk when he's drunk" Jeremy laughed as his sister hit him repeatedly.
"I was a dream and besides I need coffee" Bethan and Jeremy walks down stairs to see Bonnie with a bloody neck and Damon stefan and Elena all with those vampire issue faces.
"Oh god what now" Bethan groaned.
That's when another knock on the door and Jeremy went to answer it, the gilbert door swung open revealing klaus.
"what the hell do you want?" Jeremy demanded seeing the hybrid.
"now is that any way to treat a guest" klaus remarked causing Bethan to stand infront of Jeremy.
"why are you here klaus?" Stefan asked taking over the situation. Stefan signalled the Gilbert's to move away and Bethan went upstairs to see Elena.

"Well for starters young Jeremy or Bethan could show manners and invite me" he replied stefan looked at Jeremy.
"go up to your room" as Damon appeared, Jeremy gave stefan the your not the boss of me.
"now" Damon told him, the teenager huffed and headed up the stairs. What the Salvatore's didn't know what the fact the Gilbert girls where no longer in the house.
Five minutes ago
"Elena what's the matter?" Beth asked her sister see with a spooked look on her face.
"it's ric he's a vampire and he has Caroline at the school and he's going to kill her if I don't go and save her" Elena informed her sister.
"alright let's go" Beth stated heading over to the window.
"Beth your not coming" Elena told her causing her younger sister to cross her arms over her chest.
"I either go or I scream for stefan and damon" elena rolled her eyes at her sister
"fine but how do we get down unnoticed?" The eldest Gilbert asked and the brunette had a smug look on her face.
"that's easy 8th grade cheer camp" Bethan and Elena smirked at each slipping out the window and performing a simple tuck flip off the roof.
The Gilbert's walked into the school heading for rics class room the two where slightly shocked seeing Caroline tied up and ric alive.
"let her go Alaric" Elena demanded, newly turned original gestured towards the blonde.
"free her your self" Bethan quickly raced over to her best friend removing the pencil or tried to When ric speeded behind her jamming it back in.
"you said you would let her go" bethan yelled at her former guardian.
"how many times do I have to tell you, stop trusting vampires" he yelled back. Alaric forced the girls to sit down as he untied the gag on Caroline soaking it back in the vervain before retying it, Caroline screamed as the burning sensation hit.
"This is like inhaling razor blades it will keep her weak" ric informed the girls making the two of them shudder.
"why are you doing this?" Elena asked their former guardian.
"so it's easier for you put her out of her misery" he simply stated moving back in front of the Gilbert girls.
"I am not killing Caroline" the doppelgänger announced.
"of course your not, your not strong enough but your sister how ever, is the perfect student" Alaric smirked at the brunette pushing a bit of her hair out of her face.
"rot in hell bastard" was all the Gilbert girl said.
"Isn't this what you both wanted? For me to teach you how to kill a Vampire? Well here's a vampire Elena kill it" Alaric demanded of the girls.
"this isn't what I want" Bethan announced breaking the silence.
"of course it Bethan, all that training you did to get stronger, you could be a hunter, you love the rush of power you get when you stake a vampire don't you, come on play your part" he told her passing over the white oak stake. Bethan refused to take it.

"Why are you doing this?" Elena asked tears threatening to spill down her face.
"because you need me, because you are 18 year old girls with out parents with out any sense of right or wrong anymore" he explained his psycho reasoning to the girls.
"look at you how is this right?" Elena exclaimed point at Caroline struggling and in pain.
"she's a murderer she told me her self she told me she killed someone and liked it. How is that right" he yelled. Ric came back face to face with the girls.
"your parents led the council it was their life mission to keep this town safe, that falls to the both of you now" Alaric pulled Bethan up infront of her best friend shoving the stake in her hand. Bethan tried to stake Alaric who caught her hand
"thought I taught you better than that?" He taunted Bethan, ric should have known better than to mess with the youngest Gilbert.
"oh but you did" she smashed the pot of vervain on his face and the Gilbert sisters worked to untie Caroline.
"Go get help" elena yelled the three tried to leave the class room before Alaric heaped but only Elena got trapped back in side.
Bethan ran as fast as she could spinning around making sure no one was behind her, that's when a hand clamped down on her mouth and whizzed her away, she screamed think Alaric had got her until she heard the familiar English accent.
"It's okay it's me your safe" klaus whispered and he stroked her hair, Bethan spun around hugging the hybrid as she was so scared for her sister.
"he's got my sister" Beth whispered shakily as she held onto klaus tighter.
"it's okay we'll save elena but you go straight home and lock your self inside do you under stand me" klaus asked but he heard no response and pulled Beth away from him cupping her face.
"do you understand me" he asked again, the brunette nodded.
"thank you" she whispered, the hybrid placed a kissed on her forehead before sprinting off to save the doppelgänger, Bethan went straight home, she was worried about Elena, Stefan, Damon and even klaus.
Damon had called Bethan letting her know that klaus was down forever and they got to stay alive, Beth was over the moon but a small part of was slightly sad about never seeing the original hybrid again, she pushed those thoughts out of her head and decided to call her friends over to a Klaus is dead celebration. Elena walked through into the kitchen seeing all her friends together.
"what are you all doing here?" She asked smiling looking around her sister and friends.
"welcome to our victory party" Bethan yelled downing some more alcohol.
"what victory part we failed Alaric is stil lout there" Elena reminded them all making Tyler, Bethan and Matt roll their eyes.
"yes but klaus is out of our lives for good" Bonnie smiled Matt pored the bag of chips into a bowl
"I've got to be honest I'm a little pissed you never let me help take down original brother number 2" the quarterback announced making the group giggle.
"he of took you down to the hospital" Tyler joked causing Jeremy to laugh Bethan passed out shots to everyone
"let's drink" she announced and Elena pointed at their little brother.
"I don't not condone this by the way" causing her younger siblings to roll their eyes.
"he use to be on drugs with is an improvement" Bethan stated handing Elena a shot.
"and besides it's just one night you can play mom tomorrow" Jeremy added causing Bethan to nod.
"Okay" Elena agreed rolling her eyes at her younger siblings.
"do you hear that?" Tyler asked causing them all to freeze.
"that is a sign of a klaus free life" the teenagers all laughed.
"to a klaus free life" Elena said toasting her shot "cheers" they all yelled downing their shots.
Later that night when everyone had gone Elena and Bethan went up stairs to see Jeremy still painting the room
"everyone gone?" He asked not moving his eyes from the wall.
"it's just us" Elena replied the three siblings fell into a uncomfortable silence.
""god I hate this room" Bethan commented looking at the wall Jeremy was painting.
"me to" Jeremy agreed as the three looked around it.
"maybe mom and dad where right, Alaric should jus kill all the vampires" Elena spoke confusing her siblings.
"but then you'd loose Caroline, Bonnie would loose her mom, the mayor looses her son and I loose stefan and Damon so if that makes me the bad guy then fine I'll be the bad guy" Elena announced as the three where now stood in the middle of the master bedroom.
"your forgetting that if Alaric never wanted this and what if he decides he doesn't wanna live anymore and decided to kill his human counter part, id loose you and I'm not gonna let that happen" Jeremy told his eldest sister and Bethan nodded.
"yeah you maybe a pain in our assed but we love you" Beth added. This resulted in the three siblings hugging
"is it sad that's it's turned into the Gilbert family tradition to repaint this room every 6 months" Bethan pointed out thinking about it.
""every family has there thing" Elena added letting out a sad laugh.
"I'm going get a shower then go to bed, night guys" Jeremy told them leaving the room.
"Think I'm gonna go crash as well night sis" Bethan also headed out the room, about ten minutes later the youngest Gilbert girl went to ask her sister if she knew where the phone charger was when all she saw was her sister passed out with blood coming from her nose.
"Jeremy" Bethan yelled for her brother.
"oh my god what do we do?" The youngest sibling asked
"I don't know" Bethan admitted terrified for her sister.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
