《Mindlessly Wandering (Shinso x Reader)》Chapter 9

There was silence between us once again after she had apologized, while I was upset that she took on the injury I got, I also had to remember that I didn't know.

So I had to apologize to her.

"No, I'm sorry. I didn't know what your quirk did, so I shouldn't be upset. Just, try not to use that quirk as much. I'd hate to see you get hurt." I said pinching the bridge of my nose.

The silence between us grew as I tried to think up of what to say, then suddenly, the power went out again as the storm raged outside.

(Y/n) let out a small gasp and the couch shook as she did too.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Y-yeah, I just...don't do very well with the dark." She answered quietly.

"I'm sorry...but, thank you for letting me in when you did. I could've still been out in that storm..." I trailed as I made my way to the window and looked outside.

I couldn't tell where the sun was because of the clouds that hid it away. The rain and wind screamed throughout the streets.

"I guess you could say you were my hero just then..." I said without thinking.

I turned towards (y/n) who was sitting up straight. Her (h/l), (h/c) cascaded down her body and framed her face almost perfectly. Though dark, her (e/c) eyes were shining beautifully.

I felt my cheeks heat up and I quickly turned away from her gaze.

What did I...just say?

"S-sorry.." I stuttered.

Did I just stutter!?

I needed to calm down, but the thought of this being the first time I'd spend a night with a girl alone in her house intruded my mind. Only deepening the blush on my face.

Why is this bothering me so much??

"It's okay," (Y/n)'s voice was quiet as she spoke, "I'm glad I was able to help you when I did."

"Well...thank you..."

There was awkward tension between us both. I wasn't sure what to do.

Wait...

What to do...(y/n) says she hasn't eaten much of anything...maybe she hasn't done much of anything either...

"Hey, (y/n)?" I called.

"Yeah?" She answered back.

"Have you ever built a blanket fort?"

There was silence before she answered with a no.

"Want to make one? It'll help take your mind off of other things." I said.

"...okay..." She trailed and stood up.

I told her to go grab any blankets she had from her room, and she did so.

She brought out two blankets, one was quite large in size, and the other was average. It would make a good door.

I started to pull chairs and stools from the dining room and brought them in to set up in a way that they'd make walls.

"Okay, so now all we have to do is place cushions on the floor to lay on, and then put the blankets up as a wall." I explained.

(Y/n) just hummed and got to work.

She doesn't really show much expression...did something happen?

"I have lots of stuffed animals and plushies in my room if we want to use some of those." She offered.

I placed my hands on my hips and looked down at her.

"Oh yeah? Mind if you show me?"

(Y/n) nodded her head and brought me to her room. It was cozy and I only then just realized it was my first time alone with a girl in her room.

I felt kind of embarrassed, but went in anyways. She showed me her collection, and we selected a few good ones that could help keep the walls up, and we can use as pillows.

(Y/n) went to grab the lamps as I out the blankets on. I had to say this was quite possibly the best blanket fort I have ever made.

She put the lamps inside and I told her to sit in there and wait for me so I could grab some snacks for us.

I just grabbed a couple things and went back to the fort.

I sat down next to (y/n) who was looking around, almost like her expression was supposed to be in awe, but nothing showed.

"Do you like it?" I asked, she looked at me and nodded her head.

"You were right, it made me forget about what was scaring me." She said.

I smiled softly without realizing it.

"I'm glad."

. . .

We talked for a bit and ate snacks when the clock finally reached midnight. So we both got ready for bed.

Then we had to take down the fort, but it had almost looked like (y/n) didn't want to.

"You know...we could always sleep in here..." I offered.

My face was bright red because it was the first time I'd ever sleep with a girl next to me.

(Y/n) turned her head towards me and I could see the smallest glint in her (e/c) eyes. She slowly nodded her head.

"Okay, we can use the door blanket as just a blanket then." I said as we both layed down.

I covered us in the blanket and layed on my side. We were both facing each other, staring into each other's eyes.

She's...really pretty...

My face heated up at the thought, and I quickly looked away.

"Sorry if I stared too much.." She apologized.

I turned my gaze back up to her.

"No, please you're fine. Plus...I'm also guilty of staring.." I rubbed the back of my neck.

We stared for a couple more seconds as the silence settled in. Only this time the silence was comforting.

I kind of hoped this would last longer...

But it's only for tonight.

"Goodnight, (y/n)..." I said quietly.

"...goodnight Shinso.." She answered.

I turned to lay on my back to dim the lanterns, and then back down.

I placed a hand behind my head as I finally let my eyes close, hoping it would be a long sleep.

I don't know why...but my heart is racing...
