《Red Feather (Hawks x Reader)》So much happened... oh my god

And just like that, I was in the back of a car with Ashlyn and her annoying friends. Most of whom were already drunk and yelling obnoxiously.
"Uh... hey, Ashlyn?"
She turned down the music and yelled behind her, shouting over the still loud music and annoying women yelling along to the song.
"What!"
"I thought it was going to be just us," I yelled over the chorus of Pickpocket Victims.
"Awwwww, what is it? You don't like my friends? Can't bring you anywhere!"
She turned the music back up and the one next to me leaned in too close. "You're Larry, right?"
"What? No, I'm (y/n)!"
She snickered and held her purse out to me.
"Hey can you hold this when we get there?" she yelled while adjusting her bra.
"Uh-"
"Ooh me too!"
Eventually, I was the one who was going to keep track of everyone's belongings. To be honest, I was just going to put all of their wallets in my purse and tuck everything else under the seats so they wouldn't get stolen.
It took about five headache-inducing minutes, and the bass was making me a little sick by the time we pulled up to the parking lot. We walked towards the line, but before we got there, I asked to run back to the car, claiming I forgot my phone.
In reality, by the time I was done in the car, I got new lipstick, a bunch of safety pins, face wipes, a bar of soap that smelled like honey lavender (what the hell?), lotion, a ring of hair bands, a cool pen, some expensive looking perfume, and a few more things.
I walked in past the bouncer where I thought they would be waiting for me at the bar. Apparently, they weren't waiting for me, they were waiting for their wallets.
I didn't really want to be there, but since I was already there, I went to dance. Honestly, rave dancing felt dangerous. Hot, sweaty bodies and loud music made me feel vulnerable but that was a part of the hype. The vibration and the bumping; the excitement of it all.
Eventually, after spending a while dancing and getting thirsty, I ordered a beer and an ice water.
I talked it up with the bartender for a while to cool down. After a while, I wanted to go back to dancing but I really needed to pee. I tracked down Ashlyn so she could watch my drink.
"That's so fucking lame, (y/n). No one's going to spike it, your over reacting," she said while putting a hand over my cup, "I drove you here and payed for your ticket, and you make me babysit your drink."
"Sorry, sorry. I'll be fast. Let me use the bathroom, I'll be quick."
I was speed walking away, tugging at my sleeves, while I heard her yell from behind me.
"Bitch!"
I made it to the bathroom and I was standing in front of the mirror, washing my hands.
Shit, she's right. I shouldn't have come here. She's probably getting impatient. Gotta move faster or she'll get mad at me.
I walked out as fast as I could, creeping anxiety forming in my stomach, fretting about how loud Ashlyn might yell at me if I didn't hurry up.

I got there and tapped on her shoulder.
"About fucking time, bitch, that was like an hour!"
"I mean, it was like 2 minutes, but okay."
"Shut up. Oh my god, you're so stupid. Does it always have to be so literal with you?"
"No, I knew you were exaggerating, but-"
"Then why do you always feel the need to correct me?"
I knew there was no getting through to her and sighed in defeat.
"I don't know, sorry."
"Fucking stupid," she said to herself. She wasted no time turning back to me. "Well, stop."
"Okay," I sipped my drink smally.
She walked away, and I drank my beer faster then I intended.
You know what? Fuck this. I don't need this, I'm going home.
I almost walked out the door, when I felt a hand pull at my wrist. I turned around, scared and pissed. The person who was holding me looked to be around twenty four. Your typical, average community college fuck boy.
"Hey baby, where you going?"
"Let go creep, what the hell?"
He didn't loosen his grip and he started laughing. "Well, your friends said you're a freak. You like to play hard to get, huh? Like it from behind?"
I cringed and tried to screw my arm away. He just held on tighter. I remembered the short self defense classes I took for Hawks, and twisted my arm in the direction of his thumb. When he let go and tried to make a grab at me, I punched him in the stomach.
He doubled over with an 'oof' but made a grab at my clothing, trying to pull himself up. Being in the middle of a large crowd, no one took notice. I took a deep breath and kneed his face as hard as I could. He bolted up right and held his gushing nose.
"That's it—stay still, honey. Don't be such a tease. "
The way he said it made me physically sick to my stomach. He trapped me against a wall, getting the blood from his hands all over me. I was trying to squirm away when he spit blood into my eyes. The burning pain made me screw my eyes shut and try to wipe it on my shoulders.
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck", I mumbled.
He leaned down to bite my neck roughly. I let out a strangled noise but shifted my head over, my mind reeling at a thousand miles an hour. I eventually got close enough to his ear from a little fighting. In the adrenaline haze, I bit down as hard as I could and teared away.
The assaulter screamed and backed off, but it was covered by the yelling and music. When I got behind him, I took someone's drink from their hand and bashed it on the back of his head.
The world seemed to stop moving as he fell down and hit the floor. I was shaking and it felt like I wasn't really there. The girl whose drink I took screamed at me, seemingly not noticing the blood all over me.
She must have been too drunk to care when I stooped down, legs about to give out, and took the strangers wallet. I blankly brought out a few hundred dollar bills and handed it to her. When she walked away I leaned down to take a pulse. He was still alive. I made my way through the crowd, and even though I was moving, I felt still.

I came out front and by this time, it was pitch black.
I walked, almost robotically to an alley way. Immediately, it all hit me. It started off as a trickle as I stared off with a blank face into a wall. Then the tears were coming down like an angry hurricane, my face still blank. Eventually I collapsed and started shaking so hard I could barely kneel in place without falling down.
Then I felt weird. I mean weird weird. This wasn't shock or anything like it. I started feeling a little sleepy and weak. I tried to stumble out of the alley, but I fell. My anxiety was through the roof as I laid down against my will. I turned onto my side and reached desperately for my phone.
I clawed it out of my pocket, fighting the urge to sleep. Just as I could steady my eyes, I saw a text from Hawks.
I kept hold of the phone while dazing in and out of consciousness. My eyes were open and moving around, seeing things, but I no longer felt afraid. I also no longer felt in control of my body, but it didn't bother me.
My lungs are too... Warm and soft... Breathe faster... Wake them up...
I deepened my breathing and quickened it's pace. I was breathing pretty heavily, and I couldn't move my body. I could've been there for two minutes or two centuries; it was hard to tell. I was getting really sleepy, though. My eyes could no longer stay open, and they shut just as I heard boots stomping and my body moved.
My eyes widened at the new development. I felt so hazy, though.
Is it Hawks? He said he'd come and get me. But what if it isn't... It's probably not...
Whoever it was asked me questions. Loads of questions. But I could barely comprehend them. I heard what he was saying, I knew the words... But... I didn't feel like knowing what he was saying... I just wanted to sleep.
"Do you remember anything?"
The strangers voice poked through my mind. It felt like my brain was in a comfortable darkness and a bit of inviting light invaded.
I shook my head.
Wait. Why am I shaking my head? I don't care anymore. I want to go to sleep. Fuck this.
I fell asleep despite the protests of the stranger.
Now waking up, that was crazy.
My sore eyes opened to a white room and a monitor beeping next to me. I went to rub my eyes, but I heard a weird noise when I moved. I squinted and turned my stiff neck over to my arm. It was hooked up to all of these tubes.
I frowned, waking up a little more now that I realized where I was. I sat up quickly and looked around. No one was in the room. I turned over to see a few pieces of paper sitting on a table. I picked one of them up, reading it over. It had messy, thin handwriting.

I smiled softly at the note and picked up the other one. This one was more elegant than the last.

I was thoroughly surprised at the notes, to be honest. There was one more, but it was in an envelope. I took it suspiciously and held it up to the light. There was a long, red feather tucked inside. I sighed, not sure I was ready to talk to anyone yet.
I wanted a nurse to tell me what happened. I want to know what went down. I frowned. The temporary fluttery giddyness was gone, replaced with a sinister feeling that had me feeling like I was going to throw up.
I tried to get up from my bed and walk out, just when a nurse came in.
"No, no, no, lay back down."
"What happened to me?" My voice came out strained and scratchy.
"Give us a minute to check everything, and I promise you'll know it all."
I waited while whoever it was looked at monitors and wrote shit down. I was getting more irked by the second. The brightness of the room, the scratchy sheets that felt restraining, the nurse figeting with things. All of it was making me pissed.
I took a deep breath. "Tell me what happened."
"Just let me—"
"Woman, tell me right now or I swear to God," I seathed.
She nodded and started talking while writing on her annoying ass clipboard.
"Would you fucking stop with that clickity ass pen? I'll fucking break it if I have to keep on hearing it. And if the next thing out of your mouth isn't what happened to me and why I can't remember anything, I'll fucking break shit."
The nurse looked at me with pity filling her eyes. Like she knew what was going on.
"Well, Mrs. (Y/n), you were roofied to put it dumbly. Your body has tested positive for Flunitrazepam, a benzodiazepine used at a date rape drug."
I flinched and immediately started crying, hugging my sides.
"However, the rape was proved unsuccessful proved by footage and you got out safe. Well, as safe as you can be when you're drugged.
"Fucking start with that asshole!" I shouted.
The nurse seemed taken aback but continued, "You should be fine now, all it does is put you to sleep. Medically, you're fine but I suggest a psychiatrist."
"Well ,you can take your suggestion, and go shoved it up your—"
The door suddenly opened and Hawks was standing there in his hero outfit
"Hey. How are you doing, kid?"

Conquest of Avalon
Revenge. The Kingdom of Avalon swept across the Empire of the Fox a generation past, conquering the heartlands and leaving the broken remnants to stew in the island duchy of Guerron. This isn't a story of Good versus Evil, of kindly kings doing their best to lift all subjects, or of unvarnished heroes doing battle against evil. Instead, this story is about power: who has it, who wants it, and what people will do to obtain it. It is about the violence inherent in the imperial project and how even the most well-intentioned rulers and conquerors are, still, engaging in systemic violence against those conquered and defeated. Our three point-of-view characters are a peasant turned fire wizard, an excitable duelist with more enthusiasm than sense, and a scheming mage-priestess bent on reclaiming her family's birthright and waging war on the foreign oppressors who rule her home... no matter the cost in blood or treasure.
