y/n was aware of her declined mindset, but she honestly didn't care. why should she? it was the truth. everything was horrib

le. she should've just stayed home for the rest of the time she had to live. because now, not only would her parents and family members be in pain - but hitoshi would to.

just because her dumb ass decided she wanted a friend, the last fifteen days of her life. y/n was good at ignoring the pierces in her skin from the claws of her quirk. the stinging lines that drew blood because of the pointy nails that attacked her.

she was too exhausted and drained to prevent her quirk, and too tired to get rid of the crimson that practically painted her skin in the beginning - but life had a way of playing around. no more small pierces and a few cuts. no. she seriously felt like she was dying. she was began coughing up blood, bleeding whenever she want to the bathroom- there was simply blood everywhere. and so much of it.

was this it? was it all ending early for her?

y/n groaned when she tried rollling onto her side in her bed, only to feel the soft hands of her mother on her shoulder, "honey, please don't move, okay?" her mom pleaded tearily. "d/n's handling it with your doctors right now, you need to stay still, please. you could tear something."

y/n huffed, her arm wrapping around the bandaged wound in her stomach, larger than ever created by her quirk before. tears welled up in her eyes and she held back a wince. her dad stepped back into the room, his phone pressed to his chest, "m/n!" he hissed, then gestured for her to come over.

y/n's mom hesitantly left, discussing in hushed voices, something y/n couldn't understand, and she didn't think she really wanted to, either. she didn't need her situation to get any worse.

her own phone started to ring. she turned around (painfully) to look at the vibration device on her side table, and saw it was hitoshi, which immediately made her smile. she accepted the call and lifted the device to her ear, "hey, cute purple sleepyhead." she greeted, voice strained.

"hi, um, are you okay?" hitoshi asked on the other line. "you sound like you're in pain. is that why you're not at school today?"

"uh, yeah. doctors appointment. from home, but i think i have to go in for a physical check up. they want to see what's going on with my quirk."

"is it attacking you again?" hitoshi asked, the concern heavy in his tone.

"always," y/n sighed. "i hate this so much. i really wanted to spend the next few days with you. this isn't fair..."

"yeah. but hopefully your doctors can find the issue and solve it. then we'll have, like, the rest of our lives." hitoshi laughed.

"hahah... yeah..."

"okay, i have to go meet aizawa-sensei in a few minutes. are you sure you're okay? you really sound... like you aren't?"

"yes, i am okay... go meet aizawa-sensei! i hope all goes well for you! good luck!"

"thanks... good luck to you too. bye." hitoshi hung up afterwards and y/n placed her phone on the side table again. y/n sighed when she saw her parents were still quietly discussing. this was really going to be a long afternoon, wasn't it? she wasn't prepared.

"you're dying faster than we thought."

y/n did, in fact need to go to the doctor for a proper examination of her quirk and what was happening inside her stomach. she didn't expect anything good, but she certainly didn't expect anything so terrible.

"uhm- excuse me?" y/n quickly sat up in a panic, but regretted it when she felt pain strike up her leg, side, back, and all the way to her neck. "what- why?"

"careful, miss y/n!" dr. kemi stressed, helping the girl sit up carefully.

"why am i dying so fast?"

"well, of course time to live isn't always exactly accurate," dr. kemi started off. "we estimated half a month, which is 2 weeks, so fourteen days. the performance of your quirk is only getting more intense and stronger over time and your body is breaking. it can't stand the amount of powerful activity your quirk is forcing. all of your organs are being punctured by your quirk and at this rate... you won't make it-"

"i am going to make it another two days! i will!" y/n argued with dr. kemi. "fourteen days, that's the potential time frame. i refuse to let this quirk shorten my life span any further!"

"y/n, sweetie, it'll be okay," her mother was once again crying and her dad remained silent the entire time. well this was a fucked up situation. everything felt hot, everything felt fast, her mom was sad, she was angry, and her dad was probably slowly losing it.

"i know, mom." y/n clenched her fists. "im not allowing myself to die yet." she needed all the time living she could get. for her parents and for hitoshi. there's no way she could leave yet. "if we're done, i just want to go home... i want to call hitoshi."

"mr. and mrs. l/n, i strongly advise that your child stay here over night. i think it will be best for her."

"no. i want to go home." y/n stared down into her lap, pouting like a child. she was chewing on her bottom lip, refusing to meet anyone's eyes. what was the point of her staying over night anyways? the doctors and nurses didn't help her condition at all! they only made her aware of it. ridiculous.

"...very well. mr. l/n, if you could follow me for the thing we discussed over the phone, it's just right this way..."

y/n raised her brow as her dad and doctor left the room but slumped anyway, ignoring the pain inside her stomach. "mom, do you think i should tell hitoshi?" she asked suddenly.

her mom looked over at her daughter and swallowed, wiping at her wer eyes.

"about your quirk? oh dear..." y/n's mother sat beside her. "this late into your friendship... what would he do with that information, hon? there's only... only two days. half the time will be spent by him thinking about your death and befor either of you know it..." her mother sighed. "i think it's completely your decision. it's your life and your amount of time. death is scary and hitoshi is a good kid... he wouldn't be mad because you were afraid to tell him. he'll understand either way."

y/n thought about it for a moment. maybe her mom was right. hitoshi couldn't be mad at her for being scared, right? he was an understanding person. he knew how she felt... she wondered how he would react if she did tell him, but the goosebumps that flourished on her skin at the thought had the girl shaking the idea away. not yet, she wasn't ready... who could blame her for not being ready, right?

y/n nodded, wrapping her arms around her mom's waist, "you're so completely right mom. what would i ever do without you and your words of wisdom?" she chuckled.

"no, sweetie," m/n sniffled, pulling her daughter closer to her chest, tears welling up in her eyes ahain, "what am i going to do without you?"
