y/n had practically skipped into the classroom, twirling excitedly as she sat down next to her new purple friend- who was standing up.
the bell had just rang, signifying lunch.
"eh, you're a little late." the purple insomniac replied, a yawn falling from his lips shortly after. y/n stood up and walked by his side. shinsou frowned, looking at the girl curiously. "how do you do that?"
y/n was the one frowning now. she backed up from the boy's intense stare and laughed a little to ease the tension. "eh, do what?"
"you haven't slept." shinsou declared. "you have bags, your face is flushed and puffy. but you're so cheerful, like you've had days of good sleep. i couldn't pretend even if i wanted to."
y/n smiled to herself, "i made a friend." she smiled up at the boy. "life is short, shinsou. celebrate the small victories."
"oh..." he suddenly felt like a bit of an ass for not being as excited as y/n about becoming her friend. truthfully, he was. he just didn't express it the same way.
"also, i drank two large coffees this morning and now i really have to pee! come with me, i dont wanna go alone!!"
"what- no. i didn't sign up for this, l/n-!"
y/n dragged him along, despite his protests.
───
"im not hungry."
y/n shrugged, taking shinsou's plate and placing it in front of her, "suit yourself!"
"hey l/n, you ever thought about moving up to one of the hero courses?" shinsou asked the h/c haired girl who was shoving her face full of food. he raised his brow, slightly disgusted at what he had just witnessed.

y/n didn't seem to notice as she quickly shook her head, "nah," she said with a smile. "my quirk just won't work with me to make that happen aha."
"what is your quirk?"
"my sleep paralysis demon," the girl shuddered in fear. "you see, i used to have these horrible nightmares when i was younger. i would wake up with scratches and stuff- and that's my demon! so i can summon it to take over in a fight. the only problem is it's mean and wants to be in control all the time. so in short, i cant sleep. otherwise, it'll probably get strong enough to take over..." y/n finished her food.
shinsou blinked, "wow. an entire sleep paralysis demon." he said. "that makes sense... i get sleep paralysis and for some reason, my demon looks a lot like you."
y/n gasped, "shinsou!" she exclaimed. "rude!"
the boy only chuckled, refusing to apologize for his joke.
"so what's your quirk?"
"brainwashing." shinsou muttered. "it's not really a quirk fit for being a hero, i know. a lot of people say it's a great villain quirk."
y/n frowned at his words, "hm. it really isn't a great villain quirk, but okay." she shrugged. "what the quirk is, depends on the person using it, y'know? you're a good person who wants to become a hero. that alone, makes you a hero already. so really, you could have any quirk and it would, like, automatically be a great hero quirk, since you have it. only if you wanted to be a villain, would it be a great villain quirk, as it's a good quirk, in the hands of a villain... but you're not a villain. so that's irrelevant. aah, you have a great hero quirk, shinsou!"

the purple haired boy stayed silent for a few seconds, staring down at the table he and y/n sat. he couldn't help the small smile that made its way onto his face at your words.
"nobody's ever told me that before." he said quietly. "i didn't think hearing the words would be so... motivating... thanks."
y/n smiled, putting a hand on his shoulder, "you should tell yourself that more often."
shinsou laughed, "whatever you say... hey, and i'll even give you credit in the future for being my number one supporter."
y/n smiled cheerfully, "hell yeah! i'll be sitting on my couch, watching the screen at twenty, remembering back to-" y/n stopped herself. twenty?
she wouldn't even make it to her next birthday... what was she talking about?
"l/n, you okay?"
y/n nodded, quickly standing up from her seat, "im fine, i think im just gonna go get some air." she told the worried boy.
shinsou stood up too, but didn't walk after her. he shook his head, dropping back into his seat. was it something he said?

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The Sorcerer's Apprentice
A world where magic must be hidden from mankind is a world where mages have no reason to exist. Zara was one of them--a young woman forced to spend her days in confinement, to lessen the risks of outsiders discovering the truth. She was not human. She was, as they say, a living embodiment of a thousand year old curse upon the Kingdom and humanity as a whole. And the only way to handle a curse is to get rid of it--which is precisely what the Kingdom had been doing for centuries--eliminating any being that contained even an ounce of enchanted blood. Zara has lived most of her life with the threat of death hanging over her head, though it never averted her heightening curiosity about magic, nor the abilities innate within her. And when a powerful, enigmatic Sorcerer comes to her with a proposition, Zara finally sees her chance to embrace the curse she was born with. It was a chance laced with precarity and destruction, but a chance nonetheless...

Silverscale Paradise (A Yandere Harem Adventure)
Warning: This story contains R18 content and depicts sexual acts. Hey there, Mark Gregory here! This is the story of how I got sucked into the world of a trashy Harem manga that only lasted 12 chapters. I read it while I was high the night before and only vaguely remember anything about it....so yeah. No foresight. Also, it appears I am a brokenly powerful character, possibly the secret end boss, that was hiding in plain sight the whole time. - That is to say, the "Quiet Prince" student in their class. My new name is Zeneff Silverscale...can you guess what I am? If you guessed overpowered godlike dragon, then you are correct! The problem is...I don't want to be evil...and I don't know enough about the story to follow along...so what do I do? The Answer: Whatever the Fuck I want.
