《Little Dark Age ◆ JeonJungkook✔》Twenty Five - Don't Think Of Pink Rhinoceroses

You flinched when Taehyung yelled. His hands reached for one of the empty cans on the table and threw it against the wall right next to Jungkook's head, who didn't seem quite as fazed.
Jungkook had turned towards the agitated man, head cocked to the side curiously, while Taehyung stared him down with sparking anger.
"I bet you can't wait till one of us kicked the bucket!" He threw another can, metallic shatter echoing through the otherwise dead silent room.
Jungkook crossed his arms, left leg bouncing where he sat, "Why the fuck would I want that?"
"Stop acting stupid, motherfucker!" Blindsided, Taehyung grabbed something else to throw, "I know you're fucked up in the head, I know that you can't wait to make a run for it, so that you can finally go apeshit without being chained to anyone!"
Jungkook flinched, if only slightly - the others probably didn't even realize it, "I can leave anytime, don't need none of y'all dead for that."
Taehyung gritted his teeth, storming forward towards Jungkook and grabbing him by the collar with both hands, fists clenching around the fabric, "Cause you don't know anything else but death, Jeon. I know about the shit Dino made you do. I know that you can't wait to live your twisted life without being leashed to that rotten fuckface." Jungkook choked when Taehyung pulled on his collar for emphasis, expression as neutral as it could be.
You knew Jungkook could help himself well but chose not to, so you just stared at the two, filing the new bits of information you got away to the one you already had, trying to somehow solve the puzzle piece by piece by yourself.
"Bet you've been wanting to get rid of me ever since I told you I remember, "The blond hissed, as if Jungkook hadn't just risked his life to help them, face dangerously close to Jungkook's, "Cause you don't want your little princess, or whatever the fuck she is to you, to know. But you know what Jeon-" He leaned in closer, fists close to tearing the shirt apart, "- I'm no weakling and if you try to put just a finger on any of us, I'll skewer you."

Your companion scoffed, voice strained due to the strong hold the blond still had around him, "I don't want any of y'all dead. You fuckin' idiot."
"Is that so?" Taehyung slowly let go of him, making Jungkook slump backwards against the wall, rubbing his throat wheezing, "I don't believe you, Jeon. Killing 's the only thing you're good at. You-" His eyes flickered over to you and he stepped away from the other man, "-you have no conscience." He shouldn't have gone on, but he didn't falter, "No matter how much you try to act like a different person-"
"SHUT UP!" Jungkook hollered, standing up straight, "I just saved your asses, didn't I?!"
Taehyung snorted, "This doesn't mean anything if you know what-"
"He said it's enough, Taehyung!" Immediately, the blond stopped, head whipping around towards you, who was standing in front of him with clenched teeth, "He said shut up." You hissed, "Leave it, or you'll regret it."
You hadn't meant to threaten him - because now it sounded like you implied Jungkook would be the one to 'make Taehyung regret it'. You possibly just made it worse.
The possibility became truth, when Jungkook rushed past the both of you wordlessly, out of the room, while you were still staring at Taehyung.
It was dead silent for a minute, the only sounds being the dripping of melting snow outside and Yeji's strained breathing.
The three others were eyeing you and Taehyung cautiously, not daring to say a word.
"Look, Y/N, I'm sorry-" Tae began, "Maybe it sounded harsh, but I'm also worried about you! You don't know what he's able to do."
"I know exactly what he's able to do." You cut him off decidedly, "He'd rather shoot himself than lay a finger on me. I know him. Not the old him, who ever that was. The now him."

"Y/N, you can't just believe that he left everything-"
"When was the last time you two met, you said?" You interrupted him again, inching closer, "Ten years ago, right? People change, why should you know him better than I, who's been with him non stop for almost a year now?"
You stopped right in front of him, eyeing his reaction. He looked conflicted, guilty but also still worried.
"Look," You cooled down, trying to take a step back, "I get that you're mad. Yeji's been hurt - I would react the same if my best friend was hurt. But don't take it out on Jungkook. It's not his fault."
"She's right, Taehyung." Namjoon chimed up from his seat. He slowly got up, authority laying in his words that Taehyung seemed to obey naturally, "You calm down, okay? We don't need fights amongst each other when we struggle to survive as a team already. Quit being stupid." He then turned to you, "I'll go look for Jungkook, okay?"
You nodded curtly, watching the older man leave the room hastily, before turning back at Taehyung. Latter was squirming uncomfortably in his place, looking aside, "Look, what I said just now-"
"-about what you said-" You started in the same second as him.
Both of you stopped awkwardly and Taehyung waved at you to go on, making you shake your head, "No, it's fine. You start."
"Ah, well. About what I said about Jungkook- I shouldn't have... I shouldn't have said it. Just forget about it."
That was the problem. He couldn't take back the words that left his mouth, you couldn't unhear them. They were filed away safely in your mind and it was impossible for you not to think about, "That's easy for you to say." You smiled bitterly, "Taehyung. It's like... try not to think of a pink rhinoceros right now. See?"
He looked very confused for a second, til his face cleared and he understood what you were trying to say. He looked down ashamed, "I'm sorry. Really. I ruined it, didn't I?"
You shrugged, "Maybe. I guess I'm bound to to get to know the old Jungkook anyways. I would've preferred to have him tell me everything though."
The man nodded silently, obviously not knowing what else to add, besides and apology. Awkwardly he looked around for something to do, wrapping more ice into the already drenched cloth pressed against Yeji's side, who's been very quiet during yours and Tae's discussion.
"I know about the shit Dino made you do. I know that you can't wait to life your twisted life without being leashed to that rotten fuckface."
There we go. You wanted to turn around and slam your head into the table, as soon as the thoughts came flooding in. The silence allowed you to think back to Taehyung's words and analyze every sentence of it, every little detail and every of Jungkook's reaction.
Pink rhinoceroses, pink rhinoceroses, pink rhinoceroses-
A door banging open with so much force that it crashed against the opposite wall roughly jerked you out of your internal monologue, Namjoon having appeared in the doorframe, looking deeply troubled.
"He's gone. Jungkook's gone."
